Australia added just the six runs to their overnight score before Nathan Lyon became Jasprit Bumrah’s fifth wicket of the innings. It meant India needed 340 runs to win but from the outset they were digging in for the draw. Pat Cummins took two wickets in an over and then Mitch Starc got Virat Kohli before lunch to put Australia on top. But Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant batted through the afternoon session to put the draw back in sights. It took Travis Head’s golden arm/finger and a rash shot by Pant to get the breakthrough and from there Australia held every catch, got every review right and bowled India out for 155 to win by 184 runs and lead the series 2-1 heading into Sydney! Rain again toyed with both teams in the third Test but there was still plenty of action on day four at the Gabba. Steve Smith dropped a sitter then later took a screamer, KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja kept the Aussie assault at bay with a gutsy half-centuries, Josh Hazlewood suffered a right calf injury that'll likely keep him out of the summer, Mitch Starc and Pat Cummins carried the attack and Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep denied the hosts the chance to enforce the follow-on and in doing so pretty much sealing a draw. Australia won the second Border-Gavaskar Trophy by 10 wickets to level the series 1-all.
