In which, we go back to the era when MS had Do Knees, and wonder if Umar Gul's Bowl-out inspired Digvesh Rathi, who signs off autographs for Travis Head to distribute to eager fans in supermarkets, and for Abhishek Sharma to flaunt after hitting match-winning 100s. In which Shreyas Iyer inspires order to the proceedings, and in which KL Rahul and Krunal Pandya follow in the illustrious footsteps of Anil Kumble, in two entirely different contexts. If nothing in the above paragraph made sense, don't panic - CSK's season is making even lesser sense.

In this episode of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy daily review, Binksy, Raj and Stu look back at the tournament final between New Zealand and India. It's a tough morning for Black Caps fans as another ICC final ends in defeat, but for India it was congratulations all around as we saw a continuation of an astonishing run of form for their white-ball side - which has seen them as runners-up in 2023 and winners in 2024 and now 2025. We discuss the key contributions and moments - from Matt Henry's injury-enforced replacement to KL Rahul's calmness, Rohit Sharma's leadership, the quality (yet again) of this four-pronged Indian spin attack, Rachin Ravindra's tournament, the Black Caps' ability to stay in the fight even when it seemed like they were slightly behind for the majority of the game and much more. We'll be back in your feed next week - possibly to review the tournament as a whole, or maybe even look ahead to the IPL and the Black Caps white-ball series against Pakistan. Australia started the day on 6-311 and were all out after lunch for 474. Steve Smith made 140, his 34th Test ton, Pat Cummins scored 49 and another 4 wickets went to Jasprit Bumrah - that's 25 for the series now. India lost Rohit Sharma early and then KL Rahul to a peach from Cummins before Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli put on 102 for the third wicket. It took a run out disaster to break the stand and then Mr MCG Scotty Boland removed Kohli and Akash Deep to leave India 5 for 164 with a record 85,147 fans in the stands! Australia India Daily, 3rd Test, Brisbane Day 4: God bless the follow-on! What could have been a fairly dull day of cricket between rain delays became a wholesome and delightful one thanks to one simple thing: a team trying to finish fewer than 200 runs behind another team. Whoever came up with that plan, a blessing on your head. Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins took on a huge job after Josh Hazlewood went down injured, KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja did the spadework, then it was all down to Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep. Rain again toyed with both teams in the third Test but there was still plenty of action on day four at the Gabba. Steve Smith dropped a sitter then later took a screamer, KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja kept the Aussie assault at bay with a gutsy half-centuries, Josh Hazlewood suffered a right calf injury that'll likely keep him out of the summer, Mitch Starc and Pat Cummins carried the attack and Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep denied the hosts the chance to enforce the follow-on and in doing so pretty much sealing a draw. Izzy Westbury and Brad Haddin join you to discuss it all and answer questions from the Secret Cricket Club. The Indian Express' Sriram Veera, Mihir Vasavda, and Sandip G discuss how Akash Deep and Jasprit Bumrah dug deep to brighten India's chances of salvaging a draw from an impossible situation after KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja scored fine fifties, with Australia set to be without the injured Josh Hazlewood for the remainder of the Test and possibly the series.Produced by Shashank BhargavaEdited and mixed by Suresh Pawar
Charbel Coorey (Australia fan) and Nash Sant (India fan) discuss the fourth day of the third test of the Border-Gavaskar trophy 2024-25. Lower order batting and KL Rahul have saved India from a follow-on. Can India go to MCG with a 1-1 scoreline?
India had another nightmare pink-ball Test, but it included a moment that is our podcast's raison d'être: a wicket off a no ball. The past week was a banner week for those, which made for an awards section we were eager to get to...but not before we asked the real, tough question, the kind that we've become famous for: does KL Rahul have a Jay Shah sex tape in his possession? That, somehow, wasn't the only sex tape mentioned in this episode. Who knew cricket was such a...fertile breeding ground?

It's time for the pink-ball Test in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, with the Indian team surprisingly being the favourites. Buoyed by their success in Perth, their captain's arrival has bolstered the visitors, Rohit Sharma, ahead of the second match of the series in Adelaide. However, the arrival of Rohit poses a serious question to team management. With KL Rahul doing well as the opener in the Perth Test, will India decide to demote the batter down the order to No.5 or No.6. It had been a spot in which he was playing before the start of the Australia tour, and the result was mixed. Rohit got some match practice during the game against Prime Minister's XI and came out to bat in the No.4 spot. Rahul opened the batting in the match and looked solid and comfortable. Is this an indication that Rohit could sacrifice his place to help his in-form teammate continue his fine run? The hosting of the Champions Trophy has been a hot topic of discussion in recent times, with India and Pakistan at a stalemate and not willing to budge. But could this have been avoided long ago, and did the ICC fumble while dealing with the situation? Kingshuk Kusari, Rishabh Beniwal and Alan Jose John dissect these big questions on the latest episode of the Sledging Room podcast. Tune in! Produced and Sound mixed by Sachin Dwivedi

In this episode of the show, Baldy and Stu review the first Test of the 2024/25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy series, which saw India start slowly but then roar back to dominate Australia and make a number of significant statements at Optus Stadium. Seventeen wickets fell on day one at Optus Stadium but just the three batters were dismissed on day two - all three Australian for 37 runs as the hosts were bowled out for 104 to concede a 46-run first-innings advantage. As we gear up for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, there's another major cricket event over the weekend. It's time for the IPL mega auction. The two-day bidding wars will be held in Jeddah and it will clash with Days 3 and 4 of the first Test between Australia and India. First things first, should the cricket have administrators avoided this clash? Well, money matters! There are 12 players across two marque sets. Rishabh Pant is in the news after stoking controversy over the way he left Delhi Capitals. In a tweet, he said the decision to leave the franchise was not about money. Will Pant be the costliest player in the history of the IPL auction? Will Punjab Kings go for him? What about KL Rahul? Is he returning to Bengaluru? Will KKR go for Shreyas Iyer again? In the latest episode of Sledging Room Podcast, Akshay Ramesh, Saurabh Kumar and Alan john predict the potential big buys and narratives in the IPL auction. Tune In! Former India batter Sanjay Manjrekar criticised Gautam Gambhir, saying he 'does not have the right demeanour' to speak to the media after the head coach addressed a press conference in Mumbai before his departure to Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. In a strongly-worded social media post, Manjrekar urged the Indian cricket board to keep Gambhir away from interacting with the press. Gambhir kept his responses straightforward and brief. From backing Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to praising KL Rahul's versatility, Gambhir was at his optimistic best, emphasising that India is focused on completing a series hat-trick Down Under. He even stated that Ricky Ponting's views about Virat Kohli's form would not matter as India aims to bounce back in Australia. It seems Gambhir's take on the upcoming series has divided opinions. Is it fair to criticise the former opener heading for his first major overseas tour? Should Indian cricket fans be a little more lenient and considerate? Akshay Ramesh, Saurabh Kumar and Kingshuk Kusari discuss the explosive start to the Border-Gavskar Trophy buzz in the latest episode of the Sledging Room Podcast. Tune in! The BCCI is set to release the Indian Premier League retention list on October 31. There is a lot of noise in the Indian media about who will stay and who will leave the 10 franchises. It seems fans might be in for some shock news as the likes of KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant might leave their respective franchise. In the latest episode of the Sledging Room, Kingshuk Kusari, Saurabh Kumar and Alan John bring out some exclusive news about the Indian Premier League and discuss the latest gossip from all the franchises. Apart from that the focus stays on India's Test series against New Zealand, where the hosts have lost their first-ever bilateral against the Black Caps in the history of their cricket. As concerns lay around the form of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, the trio talk about the imminent transition of the Indian Test team and how the senior members of the side have fared in the recent past. The conversation focuses especially on Rohit Sharma, who has looked unclear in his approach on several instances. Is India's form a point of concern before the all-important Border-Gavaskar Trophy? The anticipation was finally over as the BCCI released the Indian squad for the first Test against Bangladesh on a lazy and uneventful Sunday night on September 8. As expected, the regulars were all picked in the 16-member squad, which welcomed Rishabh Pant back into all-whites.While Pant had a great return in the Duleep Trophy, could the BCCI have given him more game time before making the call to have him back in the squad? Dhruv Jurel did a fine job behind the stumps during the England series and has shown he is a serious contender for the Australia squad. The big name missing from the squad list was Shreyas Iyer, who is back into the good books of BCCI after all the misunderstanding during the England series. However, the Indian batter seems out of the Test picture as KL Rahul has been brought back into the mix. Rahul is tipped to replace Sarfaraz Khan in the lineup for the 1st Test as the competition for the middle-order spot is heating up. Shreyas may need to take his game to the next level in the domestics, especially given the emergence of talents like Musheer Khan.Yash Dayal was one of the heartwarming stories from the squad announcement. He has completed a redemption arc for the ages. Dayal's inclusion comes as India looks to find their next consistent left-arm pacer to create a big talent pool.Regarding the lineup, the big toss-up will be between Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel. Will India go for more strength in their batting lineup, or will Kuldeep's proficiency give him the edge?Akshay Ramesh, Saurabh Kumar, and Alan Jose John dissect the big questions ahead of the first Test between India and Bangladesh.Tune in!Produced by Anna PriyadarshiniSound mix by Nitin Rawat

Psychology believes that you start telling yourself you're passionate at something when you realise you're better at that something - same logic for talent? How important is it to be talented but also be “relevant” in the industries that seem cool to be in? Pratik Athavale would refuse to go to bed as a kid because he always wanted to play a game of cricket with his father before sleeping. One day a game of Gully cricket resulted in a few broken window panes and his father sent him to a cricket ground. That's how his cricketing journey started. He played for Nashik District Cricket Association in invitation matches of Maharashtra Cricket Association. He represented Pune University at university level and even went to Mumbai to play in Kanga League. However, when he realised that opportunities won't come his way in Indian cricket, he took the opportunity that came his way. He took a job in Oman and started playing cricket in that Gulf country. His performances meant that he was selected for the national team as soon as he became eligible to play. Pratik repaid the faith shown by Oman and helped them secure a ticket to the T20 World Cup in West Indies and USA. Oman are in the same group as the defending champions England and Australia and that still feels like a dream for Pratik. However, he is determined that Oman isn't there just to make up the numbers. Pratik shares his less travelled route to the World Cup with Amol Karhadkar, sports journalist, The Hindu, on Kattyawarchya Gappa…

Alison Mitchell, Jim Maxwell and Charu Sharma debate who should be India's wicketkeeper for the Men's T20 World Cup in the Caribbean and America. India have potentially seven options who could take the gloves. Rishabh Pant is the frontrunner after having a stellar season so far in the Indian Premier League for the Delhi Capitals, but he has not played for India since being involved in a car accident in December 2022, where he injured his knee. Other names to consider are KL Rahul, Sanju Samson and Dinesh Karthik. Plus, we speak to Adelaide Oval Head Curator Damian Hough who has been tasked with creating the pitches that will be used in America at the World Cup including the highly anticipated match between India and Pakistan. He shares his experiences of starting the process in Adelaide and details the plans transporting the pitches 2,000 kilometres from Florida to New York. And after Freddie Flintoff's sons are hitting the headlines in England for their cricketing skills, we look at cricketing families around the world and look at the pressure that brings. On this episode of Strike Rate: The Cricket Analytics Podcast we talk about how phase data has an impact on T20 batting stats. The discussion focusses on the powerplay, middle over and death periods of the game, and we get into how different batters should be valued differently depending on which phase they predominantly operate in. Again we use real world data to analyse how this works, with case studies including Rizwan and KL Rahul. Then in parts 2 and 3 we get to your questions. These were wide ranging with us covering advanced stats such as: wins above replacement, runs above average, expected bowling average and other ways of modelling performance. Which of these exist, which of these would be possible to model and how do teams use these in practice? India are building a big lead v England on Day 2 of their Test match. KL Rahul and Jadeja did most of the damage, although virtually every India batter scored runs, as England toiled and head towards what could be a big defeat in the first Test. England's spinners struggled, with only Joe Root and Jack Leach offering any control. Is there a way back for England or are India simply too strong in these conditions?
