Two tag team matches have been added to the “New Year's Smash” edition of the show. As confirmed during the December 23 “Holiday Bash” episode of AEW Rampage, Top Flight (Darius & Dante Martin) will face Jon Moxley and ROH World Champion Claudio Castagnoli. The Martin brothers and AR Fox won the $300,000 Three Kings Christmas Casino Trios Royale by last eliminating Castagnoli on Friday night. Moxley previously defeated Darius in a hard-fought singles match on the December 21 episode of Dynamite. Plus, Ruby Soho's feud with Tay Melo will continue when she and Willow Nightingale face the duo of Melo and Anna Jay A.S. on Wednesday. Soho recently returned to AEW after she missed nearly three months due to the broken nose she suffered in her match against Melo at AEW All Out. She beat Melo in a singles match on the December 14 episode of AEW Dynamite. The final Dynamite of the TNT era is already shaping up to be a big show. During the AEW Dynamite: Holiday Bash 2021 special event on Wednesday night, three big matches and a special return was announced for next week's program. In what will be the final Dynamite show to air on TNT before the show moves to its' new home on TBS on January 5, 2022, the December 29, 2021 edition of Dynamite next Wednesday night will feature the second-annual "New Year's Smash" theme. On tap for the 12/29 show emanating from Daily's Place amphitheater in Jacksonville, Florida is a big AEW Trios bout, with Eddie Kingston teaming up with Santana & Ortiz to take on Team 2point0 and Daniel Garcia. Plus, the future of Big Babyface Wardlow continues to be hinted at, and Jade Cargill faces a big test against Thunder Rosa. Plus a couple promos here and there, but hell, between you, me, and a couple glasses of the St. Remy, who can remember. Luckily we have this recording to all remember together. Four MAJOR companies..holding MAJOR shows..with MAJOR title matches. (STINGER: NXT) Let's start with NXT's New Year's Evil show. Kyle O'Reilly is challenging Finn Balor for the NXT Championship. Balor barely survived their last meeting at TakeOver 31 back in October - where O'Reilly broke his jaw. Also tonight - Rhea Ripley vs. Raquel Gonzalez in a Last Woman Standing match. Karrion Kross vs. Damien Priest. Tommasso Ciampa and Timothy Thatcher in the FIGHT PIT. Santos Esccobar defends his Cruiserweight Title against Gran Metalik. AND brackets for the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic will be revealed. (STINGER: AEW) After a one week delay for the Brodie Lee tribute show, AEW is rolling out Night 1 of its New Year's Smash shows tonight. Kenny Omega defends his AEW World Championship for the first time against Rey Fenix. Hikaru Shida defends the AEW women's title against Abadon. Wardlow clashes with Jake Hager. AND Snoop Dogg will appear. On last night's Dark - an in-ring confrontation between Marko Stunt...and Dark Order's Negative One - a.k.a. Brodie Lee Jr. (Negative One Promo) That clip from last night's Dark. Negative One's led to a pull apart brawl between he and Stunt. Later, Dark Order's Alan “5” Angels beat Serpentico..and Negative One returned, took the mic again..and told Serpentico's tag partner Luther that he looks stupid. (STINGER: Impact) Kenny Omega was back on Impact last night. He and the Good Brothers ambushed Rich Swann and the Motor City Machine Guns. Also last night, an upset in the semifinals of the Knockouts Tag Team Championship Tournament. Havok and Nevaeh beat Jordynne Grace & Jazz. Havok pinned Jazz after a piledriver. She and Nevaeh head to the finals at Hard To Kill where they'll face Kiera Hogan and Tasha Steelz. As for Grace and Jazz, they'll now face one another - at the Impact Plus exclusive Genesis show on Saturday. Sami Callihan and Eddie Edwards fought to a no contest in the main event. They'll meet again in a Barbed Wire Massacre at the Hard to Kill pay per view on January 16th. Also added to that show: Eric Young, Deaner & Joe Doering vs. Tommy Dreamer, Rhino & Cousin Jake in an Old School Rules match...and Ethan Page vs. (his alter ego) The Karate Man. (STINGER: New Japan) After two nights in the Tokyo Dome, New Japan has its New Year Dash show today. Kota Ibushi is carrying the Double Gold out of Wrestle Kingdom. He beat Jay White in a 48 minute EPIC main event on Tuesday's show. Backstage, Jay White said he's “done” and teased that he'll walk away from New Japan after New Year Dash. (Jay White WK Backstage) That clip from New Japan's YouTube channel. As for Ibushi, he's now asking to unify the IWGP Heavyweight and Intercontinental Championships. And it looks like Ibushi's next title match will be against SANADA. He beat EVIL on Tuesday and then returned to the ring to challenge Ibushi after the main event. Here are the rest of the results from Night 2 of Wrestle Kingdom: Hiromu Takahashi won the junior heavyweight title from Taiji Ishimori. Shingo Takagi retained his NEVER title against Jeff Cobb. El Desperado & Yoshinobu Kanemaru held onto their Jr. Heavyweight Tag titles against Ryusuke Taguchi and Master Wato. And Toru Yano seized the King Of Pro Wrestling 2021 trophy. MLW is looking to make some noise tonight with its Kings Of Colosseum event. Lio Rush makes his MLW debut..as he challenges Myron Reed for the middleweight title. Also, Alexander Hammerstone defends his national openweight title against the BLACK HAND OF CONTRA Mads Krugger. AND The Von Erichs put their tag titles on the line against the Dirty Blondes. There's encouraging news for Septimo Dragon. He suffered serious injuries in a hit-and-run crash in Mexico just over a week ago. MLW says Septimo's condition has stabilized and he underwent a third surgery earlier this week. (STINGER: Ring Of Honor) Ring Of Honor TV Champ Dragon Lee will defend his title against Rey Horus on ROH TV in two weeks. Ring Of Honor also announced Tuesday that Bandido has re-signed with the company. He's currently a co-holder of the ROH 6-man titles with Horus and Flamita, but he hasn't appeared in Ring Of Honor since last February. Thursday, December 10, 2020 (A star-studded and frantic episode of AEW Dynamite) I'm Matt Carlins and this is JUST Pro Wrestling News for Thursday, December 10, 2020. This update is sponsored by IndyWrestling.us. Last week, Kenny Omega dethroned Jon Moxley to win the AEW World Championship. Tuesday, he crossed promotional lines to appear on Impact Wrestling. And on last night's Dynamite, Omega promised this is just the beginning. (Omega Just Getting Started) That clip from last night's Dynamite. Shaquille O'Neal's heavily hyped appearance on Dynamite was a pre-recorded backstage segment, where Shaq briefly made amends with Brandi Rhodes for the injury she suffered at the hands of Jade Cargill - only to offend Brandi moments later and get a glass of water thrown in his face. The follow-up to Sting's AEW debut was less eventful, but did sow some seeds for possible future dissension with Cody Rhodes. As far as the matches… MJF won the Dynamite Diamond Ring again.. He beat Orange Cassidy thanks to interference from Miro. The Inner Circle did make peace so they'll stick together - but Sammy Guevara threatened to quit the group if MJF causes any more trouble. AEW also announced a two-night event called New Year's Smash.. on back-to-back Wednesdays.. Coming up on December 30th & January 6th. Their special guest on that second night will be WWE Hall of Famer Snoop Dogg. Getting back to the Omega drama, the head of Mexico's AAA promotion, Dorian Roldan was asked about the AEW/Impact Wrestling partnership on the “Mas Lucha” podcast. Roldan told the hosts to ask him again in about a month. He also said he expected to speak with AEW bosses soon. Omega is set to defend the AAA Mega Championship at TripleMania show this weekend. (*Thanks to The Cubs Fan at Lucha Blog for the translation) Last night's NXT saw the return of Karrion Kross. He attacked Damien Priest, powerbombing him on the stage before driving off into the night. Also last night, Raquel Gonzalez beat Ember Moon in the main event. Tommasso Ciampa got past Cameron Grimes.. As Ciampa's Takeover Wargames opponent Timothy Thatcher looked on. New WWE acquisition Tyler Rust also got involved.. and was linked to Thatcher and Malcolm Bivens. NXT Champion Finn Balor announced he will defend his title on January 6th at NXT's New Year's Evil special. We don't yet know who will be his opponent, but Pete Dunne, Kyle O'Reilly and Damien Priest all expressed interest. Looking ahead to today's NXT UK. Jordan Devlin, who's still recognized as one of NXT's Cruiserweight Champions, will host an open challenge. WWE may soon deliver a big match it wanted for WrestleMania earlier this year. Goldberg reigniting things with some verbal barbs for Universal Champion Roman Reigns. (Goldberg on Reigns) That clip from Wednesday's episode of “The Bump”. As mentioned, Reigns and Goldberg were set for Mania earlier this year until the pandemic sent Reigns went on a monthslong hiatus. Reigns did respond via Twitter saying “I am the attraction and I choose who's next.” There may be more than just one more match for Goldberg, if you believe Matt Riddle. (Riddle on Goldberg) That's from an interview Riddle did with BT Sport. And while Riddle may want the match, he also admitted Goldberg really doesn't like him. Finally, a big match for Major League Wrestling is now set. Just announced last night, Lio Rush will challenge Myron Reed for the MLW World Middleweight Title on January 6th - which is shaping up to be a HUGE night in pro wrestling.
