Easter Sunday | What Are You Looking For? | Pastor Tyler Sollie | Life Center Tacoma WHAT are you looking for? WHERE are you looking? Luke 23:55-24:12 (CSB) You'll never find LIFE among DEAD things “If Jesus rose from the dead, then you have to accept all that he said. If he didn't, then why worry about any of what he said? The issue on which everything hangs is not whether you like his teaching, but whether he rose from the dead.” -Tim Keller Our NEED is real, but so is our SOLUTION. Our HOPE is ALIVE, because our GOD is ALIVE. 1 Corinthians 15:14, 19-20 (CSB) “But many people today assume that Christianity is one or more of these things – a religion, a moral system, a philosophy. In other words, they assume that Christianity is about advice. But it wasn't and isn't. Christianity is, simply, good news. It is the news that something has happened as a result of which the world is a different place.” -N.T. Wright

Brett reviews Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. This game has been a struggle as one part of it feels amazing and another part feels like it missed the mark. The game is beautiful, has some great cutscenes, interesting puzzles and worlds to explore but the combat leaves something to be desired. Is it worth buying into it or holding off for something else?We also review Dicefolk, a dice-building roguelike creature game. You control Chimera's in battle, rolling dice to determine your attack and your opponents attacks. Fight through waves of bad guys, level up your party and see how far you can last before dying and starting over. Some analysts predict that GTA6 will be $100 and other game companies will follow suit. On today's program, we begin a new series from pastor Lloyd, titled “Essential Christianity”. The scripture we are going to study in this series is Romans, chapters five through eight. The book of Romans has been hailed by many biblical scholars as the most important book in the bible. It's been called the “Magna Carta” of Christianity. Those are some pretty lofty descriptions, but as we go through this series, I think you'll agree that Paul's words to the Roman church are amazing, challenging, and inspiring. Let's begin in chapter five, verse one, with a message pastor Lloyd has titled "The Origin, Development & Endurance of Our Hope”.

In this episode of On Mission, Sarah Harrigan Scalfaro, Chris Pierno, and Fr. Frank Donio, S.A.C. discuss the Pallottine Fathers and Brothers, the Society of the Catholic Apostolate, founded St. Vincent Pallotti.Founded by St. Vincent Pallotti, the Pallottine Fathers and Brothers seek to revive faith and rekindle charity in the hearts of all members of the faithful. Pallottines minister wherever the Church is in need and can be found in parishes, schools, universities, missions, and other Catholic organizations. The Pallottines of the Immaculate Conception Province are located throughout the eastern United States and Peru. Inspired by Saint Vincent Pallotti's motto, taken from St. Paul, "The charity of Christ urges us on," the Society of the Catholic Apostolate (the Pallottines) works throughout the world to further the Catholic Church's mission to renew faith and rekindle charity. As part of the Union of Catholic Apostolate, the Society of the Catholic Apostolate is a group of priests and brothers known as the Pallottines. Pallottine priests and brothers are a group of men who share a life of community, prayer, and apostolic work. They follow the charism and spirituality of their founder, St. Vincent Pallotti, who wanted to reawaken faith and love among Catholics and share the Gospel of Christ with all. Pallottines work to instill in others a deep conviction of their personal call to live as apostles of Jesus Christ. To remain faithful to St. Vincent Pallotti's call to "revive faith and rekindle charity," Pallottine priests and brothers promise the Society chastity, poverty, obedience, perseverance, the sharing of resources, and spirit of service. These promises are a sign of the desire to live in a community devoted to service to the people of God. St. Vincent Pallotti saw ministry as having two purposes: to love God and to shower God's love on others. In this episode of On Mission, Sarah Harrigan Scalfaro, Chris Pierno, Jonathan Sitko, and Fr. Frank Donio, S.A.C. discuss the history of the Union of Catholic Apostolate, founded by St. Vincent Pallotti.St. Vincent Pallotti's foundation had a very remarkable history. Having all people united as apostles of Christ was the dream of St. Vincent Pallotti and from the beginning this group took on a new form of an “Association” and immediately in 1835 it received the approval of the competent ecclesiastical authority. It is a community, which unites priests, religious, lay people and takes the name “Catholic Apostolate”. This community started many new initiatives answering to the many needs of the Church (Foreign Missions, Local Missions, Retreat Work) and in the city of Rome (evening schools, a soup kitchen, orphanage – Pia Casa di Carità, etc.). But the new ideas soon met with suspicion, many people could not understand his ideas and Vincent Pallotti had to defend his vision and his foundation again and again. After his death the name of his foundation of priests and brothers was changed into “Pious Mission Society” and there remained only this community and one of sisters. But the members of these communities never forgot that the idea of Pallotti was more than their present realization. Now, in the new millennium, St. Vincent Pallotti's idea has become a living reality again. On October 28, 2003, the Union of the Catholic Apostolate received the official approval and blessing of the universal Church from the Pontifical Council of the Laity. This happened only after much study of St. Vincent's charism and reformulation of their individual guidelines by the various Pallottine groups that have continued to hold St. Vincent as their founder. Hence, the reason for the name -- Union of Catholic Apostolate. And the Union is simply -- men and women, lay, religious and priests -- working together for the glory of God and working to spread the name of Jesus while fostering His love among all peoples. August 11, 2024. Guest Speaker: Rob Wood Title: Our Hope as Believers Text: 1 Peter 3:8-18 Sermon Points: 1. Our Hope displayed in our action 2. Our Hope defended with reason 3. Our Hope dependent on the Gospel www.machiasvalley.org
· We are ALL sinners and slaves to sin… BUT… there is HOPE!o Our HOPE is in Jesus, and Jesus alone!· John 8:37 I” know that you are the off-spring of Abraham, yet you seek to kill me because my word finds no place in you.”o The ironic thing about this verse is that the Pharisee's don't even try to deny this accusation! Why?§ Because they are so caught in trying to refute “THE Truth” with “their truth”, that they don't even try to refute the most damning statement of all!· This scene illustrates the condition of most people's hearts.· John 8:34- 36 Jesus answered them; “Everyone who practices sin, is a slave to sin. The slave does not remain in the house forever. The Son remains forever. So, if the Son sets you free, you are free, indeed.”o In other words: We are all slaves to sin, but there is HOPE. · John 8:31 “If you abide in my words, you are truly my disciples. And you will know the Truth, and the Truth will set you free!”o In other words, don't just say you believe, live like you believe!· One of the biggest LIES many Christians believe:o I need to be strong and mature enough not to allow sin a foothold in my life!§ WRONG The battle does NOT belong to you. It belongs to Jesus!· Surrender your sin to Jesus and you will be set free! Theme: Slaves to Sin Scripture: John 8:31-38

In the inaugural episode of 'Hope Smiling Brightly,' Amber Dawn Pearce shares her journey from a unique upbringing to developing an unshaken faith in Christ. Raised off-grid by converted hippies in a large, blended family, Amber's life was far from ordinary, involving significant challenges and moments of introspection often mistaken for sadness. She discusses overcoming the 'happy when syndrome,' where joy is deferred to future circumstances, and recounts how striving for perfection led to exhaustion and a realization that her understanding of God was fundamentally flawed. Through years of refinement, Amber learned to focus solely on looking to God daily, allowing His truth to replace incorrect beliefs and bring about transformative change. She emphasizes that Christ's healing power, patience, and gifts of the Holy Spirit are essential in personal growth and overcoming the adversary's influence. Amber vows to use her gift of testimony to encourage others, urging them to believe in God's promises, cultivate their spiritual gifts, and recognize the abundant resources available through faith in Christ, especially in these latter days. You can join Amber on all social media platforms @amberdawnpearce00:00 Unlocking Unshaken Faith in Christ00:29 Introducing Hope Smiling Brightly: Amber's Journey01:44 The Power of a Smile: Overcoming Life's Challenges03:11 Embracing the Gospel's Joy: A Personal Transformation05:55 Foundational Principles for a Fulfilling Life12:08 Harnessing the Power of God in Our Lives17:19 The Ultimate Gift: Believing in God's Promises22:08 Christ: The Source of Our Hope and Healing23:49 A Call to Action: Cultivating Faith, Hope, and Charity
