On this episode of Monday Night Therapy, Minnie Hunt and Fred Sacco open with humor and self-inflicted shame after Nebraska's loss to Iowa, including Minnie wearing “Iowa yellow” after losing a bet. The tone quickly shifts as they address the biggest news of the week: defensive coordinator John Butler's firing following another embarrassing defensive performance, capped by Iowa scoring 40 points. The hosts agree the defense—especially the front seven—collapsed late in the season, plagued by an inexperienced and depleted defensive line that failed to stop the run. They argue Butler, though a strong defensive backs coach, may have been overmatched as a coordinator and became a necessary “fall guy” to satisfy fans and signal change. Interim coordinator Phil Snow is acknowledged as a temporary fix, not a long-term solution. Discussion expands to recruiting, NIL money, and coaching strategy, with concerns that Nebraska continues settling for second- or third-choice coaches and players while struggling to develop talent on the field. The episode closes with debate about the Iowa “rivalry,” bowl-game speculation (Arizona or Utah), frustration with past regimes, and skepticism about Matt Rhule's ability to navigate the NIL era effectively. Despite despair, the hosts cling to hope for meaningful changes heading into next season.
The new season of Nebraska football brings another season of Corn Nation Overreaction with Greg, Hoss, and Every Game Jake. The crew kicks off by reflecting on personal milestones—new babies in the family—before diving into Husker talk. They note that this offseason was refreshingly quiet compared to past years of hype, and that fans were given less access, such as no televised spring game. The hosts agree that Nebraska must prove itself on the field, not in the offseason headlines. Optimism remains strong: Dylan Raiola's development, a veteran offensive line, Emmett Johnson in the backfield, and key transfers like Dane Key, Nyziah Hunter, and Williams Nwaneri all add depth. The panel emphasizes fundamentals—winning the turnover battle, field position, and special teams—as the real keys to ending Nebraska's recent struggles. They praise new coordinator Mike Ekeler for bringing needed energy to special teams. Defensively, the group expects a deeper, more athletic roster under John Butler and Phil Snow, with creative pressures, better coverage, and young talent like Elijah Jeudy and Jordan Ochoa poised to emerge. Predictions varied from cautious to bold, but all agreed Nebraska will be more competitive and resilient. Above all: this is a team ready to fight, avoid past meltdowns, and restore Husker pride.

The latest Five Heart Podcast opened with technical glitches and lighthearted banter between hosts Greg and Minnie, joking about frozen screens, USB ports, and their “zero-budget” basement production. The conversation shifted to Nebraska football, just two weeks from the season opener against Cincinnati at Arrowhead Stadium, noting over 60,000 tickets sold—mostly to Husker fans. Discussion centered on defensive analyst Phil Snow's role mentoring younger coaches, stressing preparation, standards, and stability, as well as special teams coordinator Mike Ekeler's motivational style, his “one shot, one kill” philosophy, and his push for excellence across all roles. Freshman Australian punter Archie Wilson's emotional press conference and unique ambidextrous kicking skills were highlighted, along with linebacker Vincent Shavers Jr.'s enthusiasm for blitzing and team camaraderie. Single-digit jersey assignments were announced, and wide receiver Dane Key's 1,000-yard season goal was shared. Other topics included the addition of Bud Light sales at Memorial Stadium and upcoming Husker volleyball matches. The episode peaked with a comedic “Five Heart Theatre” skit parodying Greg and Minnie, which drew big laughs from viewers. The show closed with Q&A from the live audience, optimism for the season, and the reminder that “Five Heart is all the heart you need!”

Inside Nebraska's Steve Marik and Tim Verghese break down this week's coaching news that Nebraska is hiring John Butler as its permanent defensive coordinator, Phil Snow as its associate head coach, and Terry Bradden as its defensive line coach.
This week was a quasi-special episode because we didn't have a game to break down, but that doesn't mean we didn't have news. On the Corn Nation Overreaction this week, Greg, Hoss, and Jake discuss the additions made to the coaching staff last week as Dana Holgorsen and Phil Snow arrived in Lincoln. Snow is a defensive guru who has been coaching football for 47 years. He will provide Tony White with another seasoned perspective to get the Blackshirts, who are still very good - in the top 25 in most defensive categories, performing at a level they were at last year. Holgorsen comes to Nebraska with objective success at the collegiate level, being either Offensive Coordinator or Head Coach at schools with prolific offenses in the last 15 years. Will he be able to assist OC Marcus Satterfield in strategic game planning to result in that elusive sixth win and subsequent bowl eligibility? Our game predictions are at the end, and as our departed brother Brian Towle would say, “win the damn game.”
The Huskers have the weekend off, but Jack, John and Nate are still at it on the Friday Husker Tailgate, discussing Matt Rhule's hiring of consultants Dana Holgorsen and Phil Snow trying to shake Nebraska from its three-game losing streak. We chat about Dylan Raiola's health and if the Huskers can shake the slump and get to a bowl game. Kevin Sjuts of 10/11 joins to share his breakdown and his picks!
Damon Benning joins the show for a bye week chat to give his thoughts on the additions of Dana Holgorsen and Phil Snow and to discuss how Nebraska is using this week to set themselves up for success in their final three games.
