October 8, 2025 - Season 16, Episode 34 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Monday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers exiting their bye week as they start to prepare to play the Cleveland Browns at home on Sunday. Alex and I discuss the recent transactions made by the Steelers and the team losing one of their practice squad players to the Las Vegas Raiders on Tuesday. By the sound of things, the Steelers will get CB Joey Porter Jr. (hamstring), OLB Alex Highsmith (ankle), and RB Jaylen Warren (knee) back from their injuries on Sunday against the Browns. Additionally, and based on what Steelers HC Mike Tomlin said on Tuesday, it sounds like WR Calvin Austin III (shoulder) and CB Jalen Ramsey are both highly questionable to play against the Browns. We also wonder if Austin and Ramsey could wind up missing the team's Week 7 game next Thursday night against the Cincinnati Bengals as well. With Tomlin holding his weekly press conference on Tuesday, Alex and I have a lot to recap when it comes to notable things he had to say. We discuss the Steelers' expected usage of their tight ends the next few weeks and which wide receiver or wide receivers might see expanded action against the Browns on Sunday should Austin wind up being sidelined with his shoulder injury. Will and should the Steelers use more 13-personnel that includes TE Darnell Washington and OL Spencer Anderson on Sunday against the Browns? Alex and I attempt to answer that question midway through this Wednesday episode. Tomlin talked about the development of rookie RB Kaleb Johnson on Tuesday, so we discuss that topic for a bit. We also go over the several things that Tomlin had to say about the Browns on Tuesday and that includes his thoughts on their rookie QB Dillon Gabriel and what the plan might be to slow down DE Myles Garrett on Sunday. The Browns traded veteran QB Joe Flacco to the Bengals on Tuesday, so Alex and I discuss what that deal likely means for both teams in addition to the Steelers. We also discuss the Week 6 trade that Baltimore Ravens have made. Is New York Jets WR Allen Lazard destined to become a Steeler at some point before the annual trade deadline arrives? Alex and I make sure to address that question during this show. This 96-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted, and we close things by answering a few emails that we recently received from listeners. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. Sustainable Digital Advertising: How Purpose-Driven Brands Can Reduce Their Carbon Footprint and Boost PerformanceDigital advertising powers much of the online economy, but it comes with a hidden cost: a significant environmental impact. In a recent podcast, Josh Elledge spoke with Avril Tomlin-Hood, CEO & Founder of boa, a strategic sustainable digital media buying agency. They explored how brands can take meaningful action to reduce emissions while improving ad performance, offering practical strategies for purpose-driven marketing.Making Digital Advertising Sustainable Without Sacrificing PerformanceAvril explains that digital ads consume energy across servers, data centers, and real-time bidding platforms, creating “scope 3” emissions that many brands overlook. She emphasizes the importance of auditing campaigns, measuring emissions, and eliminating waste in the media supply chain. By optimizing targeting, frequency, and placements, companies can reduce unnecessary impressions and improve return on ad spend.Choosing sustainable partners and platforms is another key step. Boa encourages brands to prioritize agencies and publishers that use renewable energy and have verified carbon reduction goals. Communicating these efforts authentically—through case studies, blog posts, and social media—helps brands build trust and demonstrate real commitment to sustainability. Finally, Avril highlights the growing role of AI and the challenges of “walled gardens” like Google and Meta, which can complicate planning while increasing energy consumption. She advises marketers to stay agile, evaluate environmental impact alongside campaign effectiveness, and start with small improvements that scale over time. Sustainable advertising isn't just responsible—it's often more efficient and profitable.About Avril Tomlin-HoodAvril Tomlin-Hood is CEO & Founder of boa, a strategic sustainable digital media buying agency. October 6, 2025 - Season 16, Episode 33 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Monday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking about how the Pittsburgh Steelers essentially won their bye week on Sunday thanks to the other three teams in the AFC North division all losing their respective games. As part of our weekly housekeeping portion of the show on Monday, which is sponsored by Touring Plans, Alex and I dive even deeper into what happened in the AFC North division on Sunday and how Week 6 has the potential to be a great one for the Steelers when it comes the standings. Alex and I go over the Steelers injury situation heading into Week 6 and the news of the team filling their open practice squad spot early Monday morning. We go over why the Steelers currently sit at 3-1 entering Week 6 and the areas that team needs to improve in on both sides of the football as they exit their bye week. What should the message from Steelers HC Mike Tomlin be to the team on Monday? Alex and I attempt to answer that question. We also go over why the Cleveland Browns shouldn't necessarily be considered an easy win for the Steelers this coming Sunday at home. At this point, should the Steelers going 3-3, or worse, within the AFC North division be considered a huge disappointment? Is 3-3 good enough? Alex and I discuss that question and topic in the middle of this show. Should the Steelers be entertaining thoughts of trading for another wide receiver right now, or at least before the annual deadline? We make a segment out of that question and pinpoint a few teams and wide receivers that make the most sense should the Steelers decide to go down that path of exploration. This 82-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted, and we close things by answering a few emails that we recently received from listeners. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. On the Thursday episode of the North Shore Drive podcast, presented by FanDuel and Edgar Snyder & Associates, host Adam Bittner welcomes Post-Gazette sports columnist Jason Mackey to react to comments by former Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger fearing that Mike Tomlin, OC Arthur Smith and DC Teryl Austin could be outcoached in the NFL Week 4 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings in Dublin, Ireland. How much stock should fans put in Roethlisberger's comments as someone who knows the team well? Does he have a justified lack in faith in Tomlin and Co.? Or is he simply impressed by names like Kevin O'Connell and Brian Flores in Minnesota? And how much should his thoughts on Broderick Jones and the offensive line concern the fan base? Our duo tackles those questions. Then Jason gives his exclusive scoop on the scene in Dublin ahead of the game. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. September 24, 2025 - Season 16, Episode 28 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Wednesday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers bringing in free agent OL Nate Herbig in for a tryout on Tuesday. We go on to discuss the possibility of him being signed this week on the heels of the team losing OL Max Scharping to a knee injury last week. The Steelers' injury report for Week 4 looks about the same as last week's as we head into Wednesday's practice so we discuss whether CB Joey Porter Jr. and S DeShon Elliott might be able to return for the team's Sunday game in Dublin, Ireland against the Minnesota Vikings, Steelers HC Mike Tomlin held his weekly press conference on Tuesday and as usual, Alex and I recap the main talking points that came out of that session. We discuss a few very curious answers that Tomlin gave to questions on Tuesday. Should he really be blaming the lack of a consistent running game on the team's defense? We talk that answer out and go over what Tomlin had to say about the overall direction of the Steelers' offense through three games. Tomlin talked about the team's travel preparation to Ireland on this week on Tuesday, so we discuss that topic and a few other notable things that he had to say during his weekly press conference. With the All-22 tape from the Week 3 game against the New England Patriots now fully digested, Alex and I both deliver our additional thoughts from the Steelers' Sunday road win when it comes to the offense, defense, and special teams. We take a hard look at the Steelers' running game woes from Week 3 and the defense s ability to not get off the field on third and fourth downs in that contest. Alex and I discuss several positive performances from Week 3, and we also talk some about the offense's usage of 12 personnel through the first three games of the 2025 regular season. Later in the show, Alex and I discuss the New York Giants benching QB Russell Wilson this week and how that act impacts the Steelers when it comes to possible compensatory draft picks for 2026. This 104-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted, and we close things by answering a few emails that we recently received from listeners. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. The Giants are going to Jaxson Dart as their starting quarterback. Derrick Harmon played a ton against New England, and was effective. Brian thought it was interesting Mike Tomlin took a shot at Anthony Richardson. We wonder if Mike Tomlin regrets letting Brian Flores leave.
Tomlin Tidbits – We dove a little further into the debut of Derrick Harmon and what it meant for the defense.

Are fans jumping on the Steelers bandwagon more with the Ravens at 1-2? Tomlin Tidbits – We dove a little further into the debut of Derrick Harmon and what it meant for the defense.
On the Friday episode of the North Shore Drive podcast, presented by Edgar Snyder & Associates, host Adam Bittner welcomes Post-Gazette sports columnist Jason Mackey to analyze the Steelers' recurring communication issues. How much blame does coach Mike Tomlin deserve for them? Are they becoming a stale excuse for him? Is his scheme the problem considering they've persisted after names like Minkah Fitzpatrick and Donte Jackson were swapped out for guys like Jalen Ramsey, Juan Thornhill and Darius Slay Jr. this offseason? Or does Tomlin need another assistant to help sort these issues out? Our guys tackle those questions, as well as T.J. Watt's lack of sacks through two games. Are those excusing the production by citing his pressure rate using the same arguments they've dismissed about Myles Garrett's performance with the Cleveland Browns for years? Should those pressures eventually open up opportunities to Jack Sawyer, Alex Highsmith and Nick Herbig to finish plays? And how much should Watt's gaudy offseason contract be part of the conversation? Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. September 17, 2025 - Season 16, Episode 25 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Wednesday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking about the recent transactions that the Pittsburgh Steelers have made that included the signing of veteran ILB Ja'Whaun Bentley to the practice squad. We discuss what Bentley brings to defense and how he could see playing time right away if he is elevated from the practice squad on Saturday. The Steelers' injury report has once again grown some heading into Week 3, so Alex and I go over which players are already out for the Sunday road game against the New England Patriots and which players are currently deemed as being questionable for that contest. The Steelers made several transactions official on Wednesday morning, so Alex and I discuss those moves right after they were announced during our show. We discuss one of those moves being OLB/DL DeMarvin Leal being signed to the 53-man roster from the practice squad and another being DL Isaiahh Loudermilk being placed on the Reserve/Injured list with an ankle issue. Steelers HC Mike Tomlin held his weekly press conference on Tuesday and as usual, Alex and I recap the main talking points that came out of that session. We discuss Tomlin's thoughts on rookie RB Kaleb Johnson remaining on the kickoff return team for the near future. We also discuss the probability of Johnson being inactive on Sunday against the Patriots with it being very plausible that RB Trey Sermon could be elevated from the practice squad on Saturday. Several other talking points from Tuesday are also discussed throughout this show and Alex and I both discuss the hits Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers has taken so far and much, much more. We talk about the big plays of 15 yards or longer that the Steelers' defense has surrendered so far this season and how the team leads the NFL in that statistical category entering Week 3. With the All-22 tape from the Week 2 game against the Seattle Seahawks now fully digested, Alex and I both deliver our additional thoughts from the Steelers' loss against the Seahawks when it comes to the offense, defense, and special teams. We pass along several advanced stats as well as personnel usage from the game against the Seahawks as part of us recapping what stood out from the All-22 tape of that contest. Later in the show, Alex and I discuss how the Steelers were tied 14-14 with the Seahawks late in the third quarter of Sunday's home game and how the wheels came off the team right after Tomlin decided to punt near midfield with just one yard needed on fourth down. This 105-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted, and we close things by answering a few emails that we recently received from listeners. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. Mike Florio from Pro Football Talk joined the show. Mike said the Steelers defense just is not getting it done. He brought up the follie from Kaleb Johnson and how the Steelers are usually the beneficiaries of plays like that. Mike said the mistakes made fall on Mike Tomlin and everyone else in the organization. Mike said this all falls back on Tomlin and it is really odd seeing the Steelers defense look like this. Mike doesn't think the Steelers will start poorly enough to dangle big name players, or even Aaron Rodgers at the trade deadline. Mike and the guys went through some of the critical plays from Sunday. An age-old question about Tomlin's coaching tree that lacks any branches. Why didn't the Steelers keep Brian Flores in their building? The guys asked Mike a few Tom Brady related questions. Mike expects the Bengals to forge ahead with Jake Browning and not trade for another QB.
Nicholas "Harry" Callas reacts to what Steelers' head coach Mike Tomlin said at his weekly press conference on Tuesday this week.
Live around 5 p.m., Post-Gazette sports columnist Paul Zeise offers his thoughts on the struggles of the Steelers defense through the first two weeks of the NFL season. Specifically, he ponders the concern level regarding T.J. Watt not having a sack yet in 2025. Can the Steelers' defense be its best if he isn't making disruptive plays? How much have the defensive line's struggles in the absence of Derrick Harmon hindered him? Do Keeanu Benton, Cam Heyward, Yahya Black and others need to step things up for Watt to be the best version of himself? How much will the Alex Highsmith injury potentially hurt Watt by allowing defenses to focus on stopping him more? And can Nick Herbig and Jack Sawyer step up enough to fill that void for coach Mike Tomlin's defense? Paul tackles those questions and the latest headlines from Tomlin's weekly news conference. Post-Gazette Steelers insiders Gerry Dulac and Ray Fittipaldo react to coach Mike Tomlin's weekly news conference at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex ahead of an NFL Week 3 matchup with the New England Patriots. They give their thoughts on Kaleb Johnson losing his role as a kickoff returner after his major gaffe against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 2; Johnson's future in a backfield that Jaylen Warren and Kenneth Gainwell have dominated so far; Tomlin's belief that the run defense improved in Week 2 despite the Seahawks' Kenneth Walker III having a huge day; the offensive line struggles of tackles Broderick Jones and Troy Fautanu; and Tomlin's late-game fourth-down decision that proved costly. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. See pcm.adswizz.com for information about our collection and use of personal data for advertising.
On the Tuesday episode of the North Shore Drive podcast, Post-Gazette sports columnist Jason Mackey and insider Ray Fittipaldo sort through blame for the Steelers' defensive struggles through the first two games of 2025. Are coach Mike Tomlin and position assistant Karl Dunbar most to blame for the defensive line's ineffectiveness, particularly against the run? Or do Cam Heyward, Keeanu Benton, Isaiahh Loudermilk and Yahya Black need to step up amid the injury to Derrick Harmon? Our duo tackles those questions and more defensive issues. Are defenses picking on Jalen Ramsey? And should fans be worried about T.J. Watt's lack of stats? The guys also ponder some offensive topics. Are Broderick Jones and Troy Fautanu in an early-season slump? Or are the experiencing something worse? What should Tomlin do with Kaleb Johnson after his enormous kickoff gaffe? And does Arthur Smith's distribution of carries for Kenneth Gainwell and Jaylen Warren make any sense? Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Alan Saunders and Zachary Smith discuss all things Pittsburgh Steelers. On today's episode, we discuss what Mike Tomlin had to say following the team's home opening loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Kaleb Johnson will no longer be used in a kick return role (for now at least) and Tomlin thought Broderick Jones played better this week. We also got injury updates on Deshon Elliott, Derrick Harmon and Joey Porter Jr. Will we see more of Jabrill Peppers? Will new WR Isaiah Hodgins see the field? Another Tomlin Tuesday has people fired up over Mike Tomlin and his words following the loss to the Seahawks. A lot of excuses for what happened against Seattle when it came to his defense – a unit that yet again was gouged in the run game. September 10, 2025 - Season 16, Episode 22 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Wednesday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers signing veteran S Jabrill Peppers on Tuesday. We discuss what Peppers brings to defense and how he could see some playing time right away with S DeShon Elliott currently sidelined with a knee injury. The Steelers injury report has grown some heading into Week 2, so Alex and I go over Elliott, DT Derrick Harmon, and ILB Malik Harrison already being ruled out for the team's Week 2 Sunday home game against the Seattle Seahawks. We also talk about CB Joey Porter Jr. and OLB Nick Herbig both entering Week 2 as questionable with hamstring injuries. The Steelers made several transactions on Wednesday morning, so Alex and I make sure to cover those during the show. We address the Week 2 third quarterback situation the Steelers now have and if rookie QB Will Howard might find his way back from the Reserve/Injured list sooner than expected now that QB Skylar Thompson has joined him on that list as of Wednesday morning. Steelers HC Mike Tomlin held his weekly press conference on Tuesday and as usual, Alex and I recap the main talking points that came out of that session with the media. We discuss Tomlin's thoughts on the two starting tackles, Broderick Jones and Troy Fautanu, potential defensive line adjustments, the play of QB Aaron Rodgers in Week 1, and the usage of RB Kenneth Gainwell to start the 2025 regular season. Beats the Dickens out of me what that one tale of two cities was about…but where Pittsburgh and Cleveland are concerned, I'm not sure who's better or worse… at least at sports' most important position. Now listen, I'm not insane. The Steelers will be better than the Browns this year--and of course we can laugh at the Browns. Oh my yes, we'll laugh at the Browns, that is my solemn vow. But whatever you think Cleveland's one step forward, 23-yards sack approach, at least they tried to solve the QB spot. As it happens, the two halves of pro pigskin's rusty yinz n yang are in the same spot, starting one-yr rentals both on the wrong side of 40…and that's not a real solution, especially if the goal is going the Super bowl. You think Aaron Rodgers is the missing link for a Lombardi run? the guy whose one and only trip was 15 years ago…against you? By that logic, maybe the Niners shoulda signed their SB43 conquerer Joe Flacco. I'm pretty sure the Steelers braintrust didn't see Sinners…because if they had, they'd know you don't invite in the guy who wants to suck the culture outta you and make it his own. Sorry if that's upsetting, but do keep in mind, yinz have merely adopted the darkness. I was born into it. Back in October of 2010, I said Rodgers would go down as the greatest QB in history. I still say he's the most talented. Or at least, he was. Now though, chasing the self-proclaimed private man who makes documentaries about himself isn't a sincere effort to go the Super bowl. It's about Rodgers and Tomlin's mutually beneficial hope they find redemption and reclaim professional dignity with A playoff win. There's a good reason why that story sounds familiar - it's the same script Tomlin tried with Russell Wilson last year. And that low standard is quite, Brownsie? Of course this didn't have to happen. At the draft they knew they needed a long term answer at QB…but took a D-tackle. And now, if Jaxson Dart is good, that's bad, and if Justin Fields beats Aaron Rodgers in Week One, well, it's gonna get just plain ugly. A-listers like Rodgers might get ink, but summer blockbusters fall in the NFL's offseason. The award winners don't come out til Autumn… and if you can't beat Patrick Mahomet, Lamar Jackson or Josh Allen in January. No matter which rust belt city you're in... there's no point to these fireworks. (And that reminds me, one last note to file away for next summer, Najee Harris - fireworks go in the sky, not your eye.) Let it begin! Ryan Clark joins the show to talk about Aaron Rodgers, cold shoulders and why Mike Tomlin never lost them a game. The Super Fuentes Brothers have the con in Miami. They're gonna help me with some fantasy decisions as the Angel & Devil on my shoulder. Newsman Bradley is in NYC with the black and white news. Also, big shoutout to my guy Tony in Encino, CA, who told me at soccer practice the other day he's a Football American! Be a patriot, subscribe! Learn more about your ad choices.
