Indian market might have hit $3 trillion with respect to market cap and is on the verge of hitting record highs, but Nikhil Kamath, one of India's youngest self-made billionaires remains cautious and remain 60% hedged in his fund, he told us in a D-Street Talk podcast. Kamath who is also a Co-founder and CIO, True Beacon and Zerodha said that we are not adding significant long positions at this point in time, and are ensuring that we have sufficient hedges at play each time we add a longer build on our Long's. Edited excerpts:- Q) We are on the verge of crossing previous record highs, and the star performers are mid & smallcaps which touched record highs. BSE Mcap touched $ 3 trn mark. Does the euphoria make you cautious or bullish at current levels? A) We continue to remain cautious. As a fund, we have in fact increased our hedging component from 50% to 60%. There is a lot of pain on the ground, and stock prices have not been reflecting the actual pain for a long time. We have continued to remain hedged. But, we continue with our conviction of prices being expensive, and we will retain hedges of 50% to 60% in the foreseeable future as well. Q) What is the kind of COVID impact you have seen on the AIF industry? A) Last month was bad. April, March was very slow, but May seems to be a lot better for us. Investors are not keen on investing at this point in time. Investors are coming in May, but they didn't come in April as well as March. But, if you were to look at the market activity and how the rally has continued, people are bullish. I think they're (investors) are looking beyond the pandemic. They are considering a scenario where we are Corona-free. And, if we were to mimic the West in a certain way, where they're seeing increased consumption after opening up, investors could be playing that theme.Q) Tell us more about First Operational Hedge Fund for Strategic Global Investors in India. A) It went live about a fortnight ago now. True Beacon Global, it's a fund based out of GIFT City in Gujarat. It has favorable taxation and is very attractive for foreign investors looking to invest in India. It removes the middlemen in many ways such as countries that are generally sitting in between like Singapore or Mauritius or Luxembourg. Traditionally, foreign investors picked to come into the country through these feeder vehicles, which were these countries. But, now the government has done away with the inefficiencies around them coming in directly. Going forward, they should bring a lot more foreign institutional money into India, and directly.Q) Any ballpark number that you have in mind? A) In our fund, we're expecting say Rs 1,000 crores to start off within the next 6 to 12 months. But, as an industry, we are the first fund to be operational in GIFT City. Slowly more people will come in there and replicate and start their own funds. So, as a jurisdiction, I think it will bring many billions of dollars into the public equity ecosystem in India.Q) Re-opening of economies in western countries are lifting hopes of global economic recovery. In India as well, fall in cases has also lifted sentiment of gradual opening up of states. How should one play the unlock trade? A) If you were to follow patterns globally, hotels are doing very well, travel is doing well, restaurants are doing well. Consumer spending is doing well. I would expect a lot of the same to be mimicked in India. So, buying domestic businesses which are in these sectors could be a good idea. Consumer spending which has artificially stayed low because of the pandemic and stores being shut -- I think there will be a significant spike. So, you could think of anything from a PVR because people will want to go to the movies more. In the restaurant chain, people might go back and favor auto companies and buy a lot of automobiles. So, all of these sectors I think can be played in a post-pandemic trade. Q) What is your investment mantra during turbulent times like these? What is the secret formulae which you use while picking stocks even when there is uncertainty? A) Well, we continue to hold a capital preservation outlook. We are focused on the fact that even today, even with the pain on the ground markets are frothy at 40 times multiples. We are not adding significant long positions at this point in time. We are ensuring that we have sufficient hedges at play each time we add a longer build on our Long's. And, I guess for us as a fund where capital preservation is the most important criteria we will continue to invest in that manner. The gardening with Joey and Holly Radio Show heard weekly March - Oct Email your questions to Gardentalkradio@gmail.com Or call 24/7 leave your question at 1-800 927-SHOW https://thewisconsinvegetablegardener.com/ in segment 4 Joey and Holly answer your garden questions Q: Every year I start plants inside from seed. Tomatoes, peppers, herbs, peas, and so forth. Every year, the plants sprout, grow to 2-3 inches, then stall. They don't get any taller or stronger. Often, they stay alive but don't thrive. Sometimes, they seem to just dry out at the base of the stem (even though the soil is moist) and die. For those that survive, when it finally gets warm I put them outside but usually either they die at that time, or they are too small and don't grow enough to bear before the frost. So I always end up going to the nursery and buying plants instead. I am wondering what I am doing wrong. I have used growing kits with those expanding soil discs and regular pots with potting soil. I have used various fertilizers such as liquid miracle-gro or granulated fertilizer formulated for tomatoes or vegetables. Nothing seems to make a difference. I have no south-facing windows, so I have very limited direct sun in the house--just a few hours near an east-facing window in the morning. Plants get indirect or artificial light the rest of the day. Could that be the whole problem? If so, is there anything I can do? Or could it still be something else? A::Thank you for your email/question and thank you for providing us the detailed information about how you are growing so we can best help you. Starting Tomatoes, peppers and herbs indoors is good for peas. We would not recommend starting indoors as they have very sensitive roots and can get transplant shock easily. Direct sowing them is the best option for them. As to the others, with the plants that dry out at the stem and die even though it is moist, that is a case of Damping off it is a disease of seedlings Visible damping off fungus growing on an emerging seedling. Young leaves, roots and stems of newly emerged seedlings are highly susceptible to infection. Under certain environmental conditions, damping off pathogens can cause root rot or crown rot in mature plants. In most cases it will kill the seedling at an early stage. This is often caused by over watering. How to fix it, water less but also at the time of planting sprinkle a dusting of ground cinnamon over the planting area. You can water it and it will not affect the cinnamon. Cinnamon has antifungal properties that will help prevent damping off. Also a fan on low to keep air moving can help too. Potting soil that has a slow release fertilizer works best. We buy local store brand, no national brand as you get more for your money and the store or local brand works better. this way you do not have to fertilize. if you do choose liquid fertilizer, choose an organic type or a compost tea this way the plants do not become dependent on it as synthetic fertilizer do. As to the stunted seedling that live, the expandable peat pellets are great to start seeds in however they have not nurturance in them and are simple a medium to grow in so the plant grow in them for 3 to 4 weeks using up a We recommend some type of grow light - like a happy leaf LED - which is more efficient and lasts longer than a regular tube grow light Happyleafled.com Q: I'm interested in knowing if it is legal to turn the lawn in my backyard into a vegetable garden in Wauwatosa or not. Help information will be appreciated. A: Most municipalities allow for backyard vegetable gardens. You would want to contact your local city hall to determine any specific rules and regulations. Also, before you dig a garden you want to call diggers hotline 3 business days before you dig. Q Any reason I can't fill the bottom on my raised beds with pine needles? {our boxes are 26" tall} A: Yes you could feel the bottom with pine needles it won't affect the soil as pine needles will neutralise ph by the time they turn in to soil Q: Pete from Madison ask Can you recommend a good tasting cherry tomato to grow in a large container ? Show Notes 04:02 - Q: Could you do a quick overview of how to effectively use a platform like Cloudinary? I have a Gatsby site with a lot of images and want to use something like Cloudinary to help with optimization, but the docs aren’t completely clear to me how to get the most out of their service. 10:58 - Q: What kind of CSS pre/post-processor you usually use? What are the pros and cons of pre-processor (SASS, SCSS, LESS) and post-processor (PostCSS)? 16:22 - Q: What is the most effective way to share a project with the internet and get feedback? I’m in a phase right now where I’m building loads of new web things with React and JavaScript, but the only place I can think to share them is my Twitter, where only like 3 people will see them. 18:35 - Q: What are your thoughts on classes in JavaScript? Do we still need them in 2020, or has the functional programming paradigm made them largely unnecessary? Does the answer change based on the size of the project and/or team? 23:56 - Q: Does ES2020 have var? Also, is ES2020 a real spec or just a term people are using? 27:37 - Q: Have you tried gqless, a graphql client alternative to something like Apollo client? Very interesting idea for clean and maintainable code. 29:15 - Q: What are the main differences in working for a software agency and a software product company? Pros and cons of each? 33:53 - Q: Advice for having static blog with minimal moving parts? I used to have a static blog but I eventually got sick of touching it because instead of writing content I often got stuck keeping up with all the dependencies involved. 38:18 - Q: Micro Frontends—is it the solution to rewriting legacy components? 42:16 - Q: I am relatively new to web development and I feel like it is very difficult to “catch up” with JavaScript. It seems like whenever I try to contribute an open source, I can’t figure out the code because they’re using newer (and presumably better) ways of doing things. How can I get up to date with everything that’s going on in the JavaScript world? Also, at what point should I start learning a front-end framework? 46:56 - Q: My team and I are starting to write pretty complicated custom hooks gathering data from a number of different endpoints and/or polling certain endpoints on a continuous interval timer before returning it to the component that needs the data. Since this is the case some hooks have gotten fairly large with multiple functions inside of them getting called to get/manipulate all the data, or multiple hooks using those same functions to get slightly different data. Is it a best practice to keep all those hooks together in one file if they support all the hooks? Or should we break the hooks into separate files and move the helper functions into another file and just have one hook per file? 51:10 - Q: Any tips for navigating projects with bad project managers? Working with non-technical agency project managers makes it pretty difficult to effectively plan and allocate time to ensure that all of the projects are done on time, on budget, and done well. It’s important to me to maintain an optimistic attitude in the organization, but sometimes I’d love to just hit 'em with the 'ol “Peace out” and go smoke some pork butt. Wondering if you guys have any good experience managing these types of projects? 55:45 - Q: I’m committing often and early, but this means that I end up writing the same vague git commit message over and over again. I know the solution to the problem is to just be more verbose, but it’s a difficult habit to break. Any advice? Also you can lay out your garden so you have an outline so where you would like to start plans always change but it will give a starting point. Q: From Instagram I am trying to find out how to use pet ashes from a cremation in the garden. From what I gather it either is or is very similar to bone meal. We want to memorialize our cat this way. He can be a part of the trees in the forest. But I don’t want to over or under do it so I am trying to get my bearings. A: You're not going to overdo it by spreading the ashes in the garden/ forest. There will be a small amount of potash in the ashes. You have a small amount of ashes, it's not a long term feed to the plants it is a short term but there are some nutriences for the plants and it will not hurt them you would also want to mix them in the soil as they ashes can blow away. Q:Any tips for growing tomatoes upside down? A: Well, tomatoes don't do particularly well upside down that said if you are going to try it I would recommend an indeterminate cherry variety as it does not take as long to grow and develop as large fruiting tomatoes. I would try to grow it in full sun and be sure to keep the root system Hydrated and properly fed over the growing season as tomatoes are heavy feeders and will deplete the nutrients in the soil quickly Q: Will there be a problem with some plants crossing with others of the same family/ varieties if planted close together ? A: No and yes. For the current growing season if you are only growing for production and not going to save seeds then you will have no problem. If you are going to be growing for production and seed saving then yes example you are growing 5 varieties of cucumbers there is a very good chance that you will have crossed varieties if you save seeds. Now that could be good and bad as you may have a new type of cucumber that is tastes great or one the does not Q: Can you use a palm cactus fruit soil to put cantaloupe seedlings in? A: You could but I would advise not to simply because palm cactus fruit soil is made to be drain and dry out much quicker than standard potting soil and as those types of plants do not like to have soil that holds moisture. I would use compost of a potting soil that has a slow release fertilizer in it. Q: I’ve never grown beets before. I don't have a yard and I want to do these in a pot. How big of a pot would I have to get to plant these? A: Beets can grow in any size pot. It is best to grow them in a larger container as you can get more plants in it, and it will have more soil which will take more time to dry out. Holds more moisture. You also can mulch the beets as they come up. Do remember to thin them as they are a cluster seed and without thinning them they will not develop large Bulbs We have grown them in grow bags as small as 3 gallons you can get 3 to 4 plants in and they did very well Q: What would you recommend plastic or metal watering can? A: There are benefits to both and also negatives also metal can rust if not taken care of and brought in plastic and break down via the sunlight plastic is lighter and then medal. But the medal is much more durable. We have both the key to any watering can is to get a size you can handle. Just because it can hold 3 gallons if you can’t carry 3 gallons it do no good. Also make sure the sprinkler had can be removed for cleaning. Q: What is required to grow asparagus? I'm considering it, but have no clue about it. Where would I purchase starts (or whatever they're called)? A. To plant asparagus crowns, dig trenches 12 inches wide and 6 inches deep (8 inches in sandy soil) down the center of the prepared bed. Soak the crowns in compost tea for 20 minutes before planting. Place the crowns in the trenches 1½ to 2 feet apart; top them with 2 to 3 inches of soil. Asparagus thrives in slightly acid soil (pH of about 6.5). Choose a site that has partial sun (full sun is not needed). Asparagus does not like to have its feet “wet,” so be sure that your garden bed has good drainage. If you do not have good drainage, consider growing asparagus in raised beds. Yield. In general, plant between 10 and 12 asparagus plants per person for fresh eating. If you are especially fond of asparagus or want additional produce for freezing, plant a few more. The basic guideline is 50 plants for a family of four, advises Barbara Damrosch, author of "The Garden Primer." Buy them seed saver exchange do not carry asparagus crowns you would want a 2 yr old crown and some online site have them your local independent garden center most likely will have them Q: Do I still need to seal pressure treated wood? A: It is not necessary because of the pressure treated lumber but if IM going to invest in lumber and raised beds I would seal it with a wood sealer just to add an additional layer of protection on that would to potentially get another 2,3,4 years out of it After installation, treated wood takes 2-4 weeks to dry. For optimal results, wait until the wood is completely dry to paint and stain. or you could leave the wood out in the sun for that time treat it then make the beds Check out the companies that make the show possible Power Planter of www.powerplanter.com Proplugger of www.proplugger.com World's coolest rain gauge www.worldscoolestraingauge.com Rootmaker of www.rootmaker.com Us coupon code TWVG at checkout and save 10% of your order Tomato snaps of www.tomatosnaps.com Chapin Manufacturing Inc. of www.chapinmfg.com Pomona pectin of www.pomonapectin.com Iv organics of www.ivorganics.com Dr. JimZ of www.drjimz.com Seed Savers Exchange of www.seedsavers.org Waterhoop of www.waterhoop.com Green Gobbler of www.greengobbler.com Nessalla koombucha of www.nessalla.com MI Green House LLC of www.migreenhouse.com Spartan mosquito of www.spartanmosquito.com Phyllom BioProducts of www.phyllombioproducts.com Happy leaf led of www.happyleafled.com Neptunes harvest of www.neptunesharvest.com Dripworks of www.dripworks.com We Grow Indoors of www.wegrowindoors.com Harvestmore of www.harvest-more.com Deer defeat www.deerdefeat.com Blue ribbon organics www.blueribbonorganics.com Bluemel's garden & landscape center www.bluemels.com Milwaukee,WI official garden center of the show Wisconsin Greenhouse company of https://wisconsingreenhousecompany.com/ Chip Drop of https://getchipdrop.com/?ref=wisconsinvegetable Tree-Ripe Fruit Co of https://www.tree-ripe.com/

To till or not to till your garden We are talking ground garden and raised bed You make that decision for your garden here are something to keep in mind for to till or not till 1st the question needs to be asked: Why do people till the garden? A: It is easy, it loosens the soil A: mix organic matter into your soil Tilling too often or deep can do more damage than good to your soil. Rototilling done too early in the season can result in the garden becoming hard and unable to retain moisture. Any heavy tilling when the soil is wet is also destructive to soil structure. The soil will become terribly compacted and dry out too fast. It you till or you do not till never work the soil if it is too wet. How wet is to wet? If you can take soil in your hand, make a ball and then push into it with your other hand if it does not fall apart it is too wet. What is the best way to till your soil? If your garden is medium- or small-sized, a shovel or spading fork is the best way. But if you want to use that rototiller, just remember, not too deep and only when the soil is ready. And no matter how you break up your soil, you’ll want to add in some compost or organic matter to provide plants with more nutrition for better growth. Watch out for worms they are what makes your garden great Should you till your garden? Things to think about, How does nature do it The soil web Spading the garden and or using a garden fork is less damaging on the soil then using a tiller as it keep from turning it into a powered. Think about layering a inch or 2 on top of your grow area each year. Do not mix it in let the water and bugs and worms do it for you. Tilling brings weed seeds up that have been dormant for years. Some seeds can stay dormant for up to 80 years Cover your soil with something natural leave straw, chemical free seed free grass clippings so it does not weather or wash away In segment two Joey and Holly go over 4 fruit tree and 4 non fruit trees you can grow on your property 4 good landscaping trees and 4 great fruit trees for your property 1st thing before we get into the list one, do you have room for a tree on your property. I do not mean right now I mean when the tree is full grown. Look up, Power lines Will it shade out part of your garden? Can you plant it in the front yard or just in the backyard? Can it grow in my grow zone ? How long before I can get a harvest The average bearing age of fruit trees is as follows; apple - 4 to 5 years, sour or tart cherry - 3 to 5 years, pear - 4 to 6 years, and plum - 3 to 5 years. Ok what are four get fruit trees to grow you find find full size fruit trees but also dwarf fruit trees, you can have an attractive landscape suitable for a small property, There is one "catch" that beginners should keep in mind: Some fruit trees are self-fertile, but many others are not. For the latter, you will need to grow more than one tree to achieve pollination. Make it a point to ask nursery staff about this when buying. All of these entries prefer full sun and well-drained soil. There are semi-dwarf varieties Tall these can get wide too Apple tree dwarf 8 to 10 feet tall none dwarf 20 to 30 feet Cherry tree semi-dwarf cherry tree 10ft tall none dwarf up 30 feet Peach tree dwarf peach tree that reaches 8 to 10 feet tall none 25ft Plum some american varieties can grow is zones as low a 4 can grow 15 to 30 feet If you keep them trimmed correctly they will not get as tall 1 Dogwood tree Depending on the species of Dogwood you plant, you may have a short stout bush or a 25 foot tall tree. 2. Sugar maple 60 to 75 feet tall 3.Silver maples as little as five years old, the silver maple tree will transform your backyard into a shady retreat. 4. Red oaks 75 foot tall The dwarf chinkapin oak is a shrub or small tree that typically only grows to 13–20 feet Dwarf Japanese maples are slow-growing, compact trees that grow to about 3 to 8 feet In segment three Joey and Holly welcome their guest author Kim Eierman Kim Eierman is the Founder of EcoBeneficial. She is an Environmental Horticulturist specializing in ecological landscapes and native plants. 1. What is an ecological landscape? 2. Why is it important to grow native plants? 3. What are resources for people to find out what plants are native to their area? 4. Why are pollinators important? Why are they at risk? 5. How can we help the pollinators? 6. Where can our listeners out more about you? Garden questions answered in segment four by Joey and Holly Q: I would love it if I could be pointed in the right direction for what I can do right now to prepare for spring! thank you so much in advance I am in Wisconsin A: A few things you can start doing now is looking at what you want to plant and either but the seeds for direct sowing when the time is right for those seeds and if you want to start seeds indoors not is a good time to start tomatoes, eggplants, the brassicas, herbs, to name a few. I have to admit that these impeachment hearings are very entertaining. The Democrats keep bringing witnesses forward, and not a single one of them gave them the smoking gun they were looking for. Today Sondland was questioned about the ad being held from Ukraine, and this was the outcome.Q: Did @realDonaldTrump ever tell you personally about any pre-conditions for anything? Sondland: No. Q: Any pre-conditions for the aid to be released? Sondland: No. Q: Any pre-conditions for a White House meeting? Sondland: Personally, No.And now the liberal media is saying just the opposite took place. They are saying Sondland said yes to all of these questions & tonight we’re going to show you the actual truth.Daniel Goldman kept asking Ambassador Sondland to give an answer that would give them the dirt they are looking for on President Trump, and it never came. The ad was never held back from Ukraine, and you’re going to see Goldman keep trying to get the answer they wanted and not the truth. Many Democrats are seeing this Schiff Show as nothing but Bull Schiff and are making the Dems look bad. I want the Dems to never stop so that people that still have two brain cells will wake up to what they are doing to this country.Subscribestar: https://www.subscribestar.com/will-johnsonSubscribestar: https://www.subscribestar.com/god-emperor-trumpSupport: www.infowarsstore.com Watch uncensored: www.BANNED.VIDEO

I'm gonna level with you: it's been a heck of a week. So I thought I'd try something a little different (and desperate?) and use this episode to answer some FAQs that come in via email and Twitter DM. Today's burning questions include: Q: Do I think it's dangerous to podcast and drive? A: Not really, especially now that I got one of these babies. Q: What is the eJPT cert all about? A: It looks like a pentest training/cert path that sits somewhere (difficulty wise) between CEH and OSCP. It's favorably reviewed and will set you back a few hundred dollars. Have you taken this cert? I'd love your feedback and, if possible, to do a mini Skype interview with you for the show. Drop me a note and lets chat. Q: What's a good place to practice Web hacking skills online? A: I've been a long time fan of Juice Shop, and up next in my queue is HackTheBox. Q: Any more Vulnhub.com VMs in the works? A: Kinda. Listen to today's episode :-)
We are concluding our Jesus on Money series with a message entitled When You Are Free: Power! Pastor Todd starts our time with the account of Jesus watching the offerings being brought into the Temple and the comment he made about the widow’s offering. That will touch off a discussion about generosity and sacrifice. When we do what Jesus has told us to do, it will release the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Download the additional "Measuring Up In My Giving" points mentioned in the message » Sermon Notes Jesus On Money WHEN YOU ARE FREE: POWER! Pastor Todd Dugard // Mark 12:41-44 March 19-20, 2016 D. When I am financially free, I have the power to... 1. Bless my family 2. Help the hurting 3. Fund the mission Questions & Answers Q: If I am in debt, should I still give my regular offering or pay off my debt first? I’m talking about consumer debt. And how much do I give? A: While being aggressive in paying off debt, we don’t want to become so focused on one thing we lose sight of everything else. We want to be out of debt so we can serve God with gladness and generosity. That begins now! So you should give something, and it should be an act of faith, not chump change that costs you nothing. How much? It will be different for each one. Perhaps the best way to go about it is to give an amount that forces you to sacrifice. For some, that might be a meal. For others, a vacation, or taking less vacation. Then give it first, give it regularly, and give it joyfully. Work through the 12 criteria that we learned in the series to determine what you should give. Q: I am not in severe financial need and have no outstanding debts, other than my credit card, which I pay off every two weeks. I do struggle with some sinful spending habits, but it doesn't ever get out of hand. After the money litmus test I've determined that I am not consumed over money, and don't struggle with greed. However, I do have several saving funds in process and spend a generous amount of money on hobbies. I also tithe regularly, and try to be generous in it, as well as have a sponsor child I support. My main struggle is, is it wrong if I spend more money monthly on a hobby than my tithe? With a hobby and saving towards some financial goals, is that being selfish where I could use this abundance of money towards something else? Is this something I have to just personally sort out with God? A: Yes, you have to sort it out personally with God. It is a wisdom issue. Get some good counsel. And remember that one day you will look into the eyes of Jesus and it might sound a little lame to say “Thank you for the great times flying my plane” (real or remote control). However, remember that God wants you to enjoy what he has provided on this earth. Q: Any advice for a couple that isn’t on the same page with the study? How can a saver handle a spender? A: That issue isn’t financial! You need communication and problem-solving tools. They will work great in every area! The real issue is getting on the same page. If you can talk about it and find a solution that you can both agree to, there is nothing that can break your harmony! Dave Ramsay would say you both are responsible for the budget. The nerd makes it and the free spirit approves it, suggesting they both agree with it. I know you want us to say, “Curb the spender!” But the saver usually needs to lighten up a bit too! Q: How does a believer approach the IWBNIN financial management process when their spouse is a non-believer? A: Other than sorting out giving, pretty much exactly the same way. Seems to me most people that are wealthy, did it this way, and most of them are not saved. And most of them are generous. Q: How does a believer approach the IWBNIN financial management process when their spouse is a non-believer? A: Other than sorting out giving, pretty much exactly the same way. Seems to me most people that are wealthy, did it this way, and most of them are not saved. And most of them are generous. Q: My heart is troubled and broken for those who have either been a victim of crushing debt and also for those who struggle with the devastating sin of covetousness. We all struggle with the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh and the pride of life. And to borrow a phrase from Max Lucado, “Jesus is the cure to this common life.” As we submit to the prompting of the Holy Spirit, we will get victory but often after many failures and disappointments. I have learned the hard way that God does not give you a U Haul and that we cannot hold on to anything or anyone too tightly in this life. I appreciate the series on money, however I wish it were tempered with a little more justice, grace and mercy. Applying the truths of 1 Corinthians 13, Galatians 5 and even more specifically Micah 6:8 in order to be sensitive to the fact that at the end of the day God does not need our money. He does not need us. But for reasons we will never fully comprehend, he loves us and this kind of love fuels our love and compassion for others. Our giving merely becomes an outpouring of love that does not expect to get any reward other than the love of our Saviour. So in thinking how we give: Is giving not under the control and leadership of the Holy Spirit? Should we not be encouraged to give in such a way that is secret, without fanfare. Avoiding the sin of a Pharisee and prideful motives? What about gifts of time talent and other treasures? Should the church find creative ways to give that offer ways to serve Christ other than the offering plate? I believe that Jesus Christ leads us into all truth as we spend time applying the truth of scripture, listening to the still small voice. We can get into a dangerous territory when we judge a fellow worker by our own personal convictions, remembering that while we are all part of the body of Christ, each one of us fulfills a very different function. Thanks for the opportunity to truly consider this issue and put it in somewhat of a proper perspective. Still a work in progress! Shalom. A: Yes it is under the control and leadership of the Holy Spirit. (That should cover all your other comments!) Yes, give in secret but Proverbs 11:25 says, “Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered.” Also, 1 Timothy 5:25 says, “So also good works are conspicuous, and even those that are not cannot remain hidden.” For sure we encourage giving more than money. True giving starts with our hearts but if it never reaches your wallet something is wrong! 2 Corinthians 8:5 says, “And this, not as we expected, but they gave themselves first to the Lord and then by the will of God to us.” Q: If it is our responsibility to work and provide for our own households, is it biblical to solely rely on the donations of others to live as a missionary? Or should they both accept donations and work simultaneously? A: Paul is pretty clear on this. 1 Timothy 5:8 says, “For the Scripture says, ‘You shall not muzzle an ox when it treads out the grain,’ and, ‘The laborer deserves his wages.’” 1 Timothy 5:17 says, “Let the elders who rule well be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in preaching and teaching.” In 2 Thessalonians 3 Paul notes he didn’t rely on their giving but not because he didn’t have that right. He says, “For you yourselves know how you ought to imitate us, because we were not idle when we were with you, nor did we eat anyone's bread without paying for it, but with toil and labor we worked night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you. It was not because we do not have that right, but to give you in ourselves an example to imitate.” Galatians 6:6 says, “Let the one who is taught the word share all good things with the one who teaches.” Download the additional "Measuring Up In My Giving" points mentioned in the message »

Our guest for this week is none other than Mark Morris(@mark_morris). Originally from Naples, Italy, Mark is now based in the capital city for techno, namely Berlin. Mark had an early debut with music and has kept a certain standard to his work ever since. He is the head of his own label Ketra Records which can be held responsible for releasing mindblowing EP’s from various artist. In this episode we can expect a “No Bullshit” approach to a raw techno sound interestingly mixed together. Q&A: Q: How has the techno scene in Italy influenced you as a Dj and producer A: The techno scene in my town was always one of the most active in Italy. When I was young, artists such Marco Carola, Gaetek, Rino Cerrone and many more were the best techno djs in the scene and they influenced of course my idea of techno music. Q: What made you decide to move to Berlin? A: I decide to move in Berlin after living in Spain. Berlin was the last step for me to really understand the techno world. Berlin helped me to find the right way in my sound. This was one of the most important moments of my career. Q: In this mix you are running the tempo at 135 bpm, which is some what unorthodox. How would you describe your style of playing? A: As I mentioned, my techno vision is influenced by the old school. I love to mix hardtechno as I love the industrial way and the dark atmosphere. That's more or less the best description of my sound: fast, dance-floor, heavy & dark. Q: What inspires you as a producer? A: As producer I'm really complicated. Normally I don't like to have inspiration as other producers. I Love for sure artists such Surgeon and Regis, but maybe the best inspiration for me are my own artists as Logotech, Future 16, Unam Zetineb and my wife Kata Mercado. I think the best inspiration come from those who are close to me. Q: Any comments about upcoming gigs or releases? A: For sure the last EP on Mano Recordings (label by me & Zetineb) with the remixes from the legendary ESPLENDOR GEOMETRICO & CASUAL VIOLENCE. This is one of the best releases I have done so far. I will soon be out with the next Mano with a remix by ONTAL. The next gigs are a b2b with Kata in Bologna (Italy). I also have a new project I started with my collab. Logotech & Future 16 with parties in our own town Naples. We are privileged to have Fabrizio Lapiana(@fabrizio-lapiana) as our guest for this week’s episode. As an artist, producer, DJ and record label owner, Fabrizio has contributed to the techno scene since the early nineties. His label Attic Music was founded in 2008 and has commanded a reputation known for quality and good music. Fabrizio has recently released EPs on his own label, as well as on M_REC. In this weeks episode he showcases a variety of styles with a hypnotic techno flow. As he said himself “It’s not perfect, but it’s more real”. And when you play with vinyl only, we can’t do anything else but agree! Please make sure to enjoy this weeks mix, and read the Q/A: Q: How was the rave scene in Rome in the 90s, and how did it influence you? A:It's been very important for me and all italian techno movement. In that time Rome was italian techno, the only italian techno scene. In 1991 I was too young to go to Rave parties but I was connected with rave scene through a local radio station that pushed all best techno of the moment and informed people about rave parties (legal warehouse parties)...And all this connected with a great records shop, re-mix. I was lucky to follow djs like Lory D, Leo Anibaldi, Luca Chucchetti, Freddy K, etc etc. In that time I realized to love techno and to want become a dj. Q: How do you seduce the crowd during a event? A:I just make my personal journey during my set, of course not forgetting the crowd Q: How is the Techno scene in Rome today? A:I think it's a good moment. There are different nice parties and a lot of great artists in my opinion. Q: Any extra words? A:About this podcast, I just spent some minutes to decide the first track to start the mix, as I usually do in the gigs. I like improvvisation. In this episode of China Money Podcast, our featured guest is Goodwin Gaw, managing principal and founder of Hong Kong-based private real estate management firm, Gaw Capital Partners, which manages US$7.5 billion. Gaw talked with our host, Nina Xiang, about where in the Chinese property market he sees price corrections this year, why his firm is staying on the sidelines investing in Hong Kong, and his thoughts on Gaw Capital's performance. Read an excerpt below, but be sure to listen to the full interview in audio, or watch an abbreviated video version. Don't forget to subscribe to the podcast for free in the iTunes store. Q: Are you concerned about the recent market jitters on the financial health of Chinese property developers? A: In China, you have to go along with the government policy. The government policy now is actually to promote steady growth in the housing sector. Every time when the market goes up too much, the government puts the brakes on. We are in this type of situation where the government is trying to take away excessive liquidity in the market, so that the (housing) prices may correct or slow down. There will be tightening in some of the developers' finances. It's actually a good opportunity for us to put capital to work in China. Q: How big will this type of distressed opportunity be? A: I think it could be quite big. This new government has strong resolution to change the economy structurally, which will create volatility in the market. Particularly in high-end homes in tier I cities where there are a lot of speculative investments, meaningful correction should take place. Q: How big a correction? A: For some of the high-end residential projects in Beijing and Shanghai, a correction of 10% is probably not excessive. I'm less concerned about residential properties in tier II or tier III cities because they are still experiencing high growth. The government policy there is to encourage more supply and better housing to meet housing demand. Q: But you believe that's where troubles in commercial property might be? A: Yes. There have been massive investments in shopping centers and office space in a lot of these tier II and tier III cities. The problem is that these cities are populated more by domestic companies, private entrepreneurs and state-owned enterprises. They historically would rather own their property than rent. So it's harder to build investment grade asset and fill them with enough multinational companies. Q: Any predictions here about the scale of price corrections? A: I would say for the big tier II cities like Chengdu and Nanjing, correction is less. But a 10% to 15% correction is not out of the question in the next five years. (The bigger concern) is the retail property sector in certain cities like Shenyang. I've never seen so many shopping centers in one city. On top of that, Chinese consumers are quickly adopting e-commerce. As a result, there might be a shake up for these type of properties. Q: With your projections in mind, what kind of impact will they have on Chinese banks? A: It may be a little bump. Remember, China is a closed system. Municipal debt is central government debt. Banks are state-owned. Banks lend mostly to SOEs. So it's almost a test of the will of the central government. Do they want someone to fail? As a private businessman, you have to take a bet on the government's resolve. Q: Your bet is that this government will let default happen? A: If they believe it's not contagious, they will probably let some small firms fail. Just to set an example that they are not going to protect everyone. That's purely my own guess. Q: For Hong Kong's property market, do you agree with the mainstream projection that a correction is coming this year? A: Hong Kong's low tax environment, as well as it's currency being pegged to the U.S. dollar and the high-growth economy of mainland China,
In this episode of China Money Podcast, guest Fritz Demopoulos, founder of Queen's Road Capital, shares his thoughts on China's Internet sector and entrepreneurship. As founder of two successful Chinese Internet companies, Shawei.com and Qunar.com, Demopoulos is now hoping to capture the next big opportunity in China's Internet evolution by deploying his own capital. Listen to the full interview in the audio podcast, watch the shortened video version or read an excerpt. Q: Last time when we talked, it was five years ago during the early days of your last start-up Qunar.com. This time around, you just founded Queen's Road Capital. What's your strategy and targeted industry? A: It's my personal investment vehicle that I use to invest in early stage companies. I try to focus on media and Internet companies, including consumer Internet, consumer facing models, and e-commerce related companies that are creating market places, that are thinking about how to deliver advertising better and more targeted (products and services) to consumers, as well as mobile consumer opportunities. Q: Any examples of companies that you have invested in? A: I'm an investor in a company called Wodache, a ride-share company. Everyone knows in the major cities of China, there are lots of traffic and it's very difficult to get a taxi. This company helps consumers to share cars through a mobile platform. It provides very strong functional value, so I'm very excited about it. Q: You were a successful entrepreneur before. Now you are an investor. Does the change of role make you think differently when looking at a start-up? A: Many investors are entrepreneurs and many entrepreneurs are investors. When I was an entrepreneur, I was always thinking about investing, and vice versa. So it's a constantly revolving door. Q: For those areas that you mentioned previously as places you look at intensely for investments, what specific elements do you try to find in a start-up that can lead to success? A: At least for me, the last thing I want to do is be where everyone else is. I always wanted to be the first within a category. You can't underestimate the value and advantage that a first-mover has. The team and concept is just a little bit down the learning curve than everyone else. Secondly, the team has to be completely focused on what they do. We need to see that the management teams and founders have skin in the game. Have they invested their own money? Have they given up other opportunities? Have they convinced their families and friends to invest? Thirdly, it's important that the founding teams understand their limitations. If they understand what they do well and what you are not good at, then they can simply hire the missing pieces. In terms of technology, clearly we live in a mobile world. Very rapidly, we are seeing the rise of mobile commerce, e-commerce, real transactions happening online, not just an order entry but proper payment processing all the way up to fulfillment. It is all about being able to present great product information to consumers in innovative ways that meets their specific needs. That entire chain is undergoing a significant revolution, especially with mobile and social media elements. Q: You are investing in early stage companies. What kind of failure rate do you expect? A: China is different because with a small amount of capital, you can survive for a long time. You give 20 companies a couple of million dollars a piece, they are going to last for five or six years even if those models haven't been successful. I'm not sure if that's the right way to look at it. If failure means going bankrupt, not many companies go bankrupt because you can last for a long time in creative ways in China. Q: You have been involved in the Internet sector in China for a long time. How do you make of the fact that the Chinese Internet space is so much more fragmented than in the West, where Yahoo,
