We have some explaining to do.The episode begins with Riz waking up to some major news. Obviously, he assumes everyone is talking about the Becky Thatcher, the first new riverboat joining the St. Louis riverfront fleet in nearly four decades.Nobody is talking about the riverboat. They're talking about Dolly Parton. After the show had recently discussed concerns about Dolly's health, the news of her death arrives—and listeners immediately activate the long-running Rizz Show curse. The inbox fills with variations of “YOU KILLED DOLLY.” Riz insists he did no such thing. The audience has apparently already held a trial and reached a verdict. What follows is a genuinely emotional remembrance of Dolly, particularly from Lern, who talks about growing up in a family of women who adored her and what Dolly represented as a funny, strong, generous woman who never seemed interested in punching down. The crew discusses the flood of tributes, her influence, her sense of humor and the strange feeling when an icon dies and suddenly your entire social feed becomes one giant memorial. They also revisit Dolly's legendary sense of humor through her old Letterman Top 10 appearance and a story about her attitude on the set of Steel Magnolias. It's heartfelt, funny and a reminder that occasionally this daily comedy operation is capable of experiencing an actual human emotion.Don't get used to it.Because we immediately pivot to the continuing saga involving the 49ers owner and the mobile-home community that got unwillingly dragged into headlines surrounding his arrest.Turns out the Wheat Hill Mobile Home Community would like everybody to know something very important: THEY HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH IT.According to the discussion, the mobile-home park was simply where he happened to pull over during the police operation. It wasn't part of the sting. Nobody was operating anything out of one of the trailers. The neighborhood just had the misfortune of becoming the funniest possible location to put in a headline. Our apologies to Wheat Hill.Naturally, this clarification leads to approximately half an hour of the crew discussing mobile homes.Rafe explains growing up in a single-wide in southern Illinois with five people, where mounted deer were apparently standard interior design. Except his family couldn't necessarily spring for full taxidermy, so Dad would clean the skull, mount the antlers and put the whole thing on a homemade wooden arrowhead.HGTV has been suspiciously quiet about this aesthetic.Lern remembers the time a giant taxidermied boar head unexpectedly arrived at her family home while her dad was away. Her little sister declared it a monster, Mom immediately banned it from civilized society, and now the boar apparently lives in the dark storage section of the basement waiting for somebody to make one wrong turn at night.Obviously, the show wants it for the office. Then Moon and Rafe provide an unexpectedly thorough education in mobile-home expansion. First you get the trailer. Then comes the lattice. Then the deck. Then another room. Maybe a wood-burning stove. Another deck. Perhaps an above-ground pool with a deck around that. Keep going long enough and the original mobile home becomes the chewy nougat center of an entire residential compound.Rafe also remembers winters when the back of his family's trailer got so cold they hung a blanket across the hallway, fired up the wood stove and everybody slept in the main room. There are old Formica tables. Ancient carpet capable of producing immediate rug burn. Indoor cigarette smoke. Storm shelters. Tornado theories. Wind chimes. Lawn ornaments. Shot-up road signs—allegedly. Abandoned farm equipment. Old horse trailers. And a neighbor who apparently kept woodworking after losing enough fingers that maybe the universe was trying to send a message. It becomes a weirdly affectionate trip through rural childhood, poverty and the things families do to turn whatever they have into a home.Eventually, this daily comedy episode escapes Trailer Park Memory Lane and celebrates National Toilet Paper Day, which leads to an important debate about toilet paper being too soft. Then Rafe describes encountering a handheld bidet sprayer with enough water pressure that incorrect usage could apparently result in a medical evacuation. There's also the nostalgic horror of padded toilet seats, because nothing says “luxury bathroom” quite like sitting on a cracked vinyl cushion that has seen generations of bare asses.National Dog Day brings happier territory as the crew talks about America's popular dog breeds, mutts versus designer breeds, and why mixed-breed dogs may secretly have everything figured out. Then the conversation wanders into genetic modification and the possibility of glow-in-the-dark animals, which naturally leads Moon to conclude that Jurassic Park is inevitable and he will absolutely buy a ticket. Finally, Carrot Top enters the conversation because this show respects narrative structure about as much as a raccoon respects a locked trash can.So yes: Dolly Parton, a new St. Louis riverboat, an NFL-owner controversy, trailer-park vindication, taxidermy, tornado shelters, toilet paper, dangerous bidets, dogs, genetically modified animals and Carrot Top.That is daily comedy. We're sorry.Mostly.Follow The Rizzuto Show → linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → 1057thepoint.com/RizzShow.Hear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Colorado communities adapting to the long-term strain on water supplies in the arid West are turning one of their largest demands—the irrigated landscape—into a source of new supply, with this year's historically low snowpack adding urgency to the work. The first episode of Resilience in the Rockies travels from the Front Range to the Western Slope to examine how local leaders, utility managers, landscape professionals, and residents are replacing thirsty turf with landscapes designed for Colorado's climate. In Westminster, where about half of the city's drinking water is used outdoors, a prominent transformation at City Hall is expected to save at least 1.5 million gallons annually while adding native grasses, pollinator habitat, walking connections, and climate-appropriate plants grown at the city's own greenhouse. At the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, nearly 3.5 acres of lightly used lawn have been redesigned with gathering areas, shade, native vegetation, and more precise irrigation—a project expected to conserve nearly 2 million gallons each year.Longmont is using GIS mapping to locate nonfunctional turf and rank potential projects according to water savings, heat vulnerability, air quality, irrigation source, community value, and opportunities to coordinate with other construction. That data-driven approach helped shape Kensington Park, where residents selected plants and amenities and helped install a water-wise garden around a neighborhood memorial previously damaged by irrigation. In Eagle County, the Beyond Lawn program pairs rebates with on-site evaluations, irrigation guidance, customized conservation plans, and contractor or do-it-yourself resources, helping replace 60,000 to 70,000 square feet of turf and save about four acre-feet of water annually.Together, the projects show that outdoor conservation succeeds when communities move beyond simply removing grass and create landscapes that are useful, attractive, locally appropriate, and supported over the long term.waterloop is a nonprofit news outlet exploring solutions for water sustainability. Resilience in the Rockies is produced in collaboration with WaterNow and made possible in part by a grant from the Colorado Water Conservation Board, with support from PCL Construction, Norris Design, Merrick, and the City of Greeley.Attend the Resilience in the Rockies event on October 20 in Denver.

Real Estate Investor Dad Podcast ( Investing / Investment in Canada )
The Trick to Keeping Long-Term Tenants Tenant turnover can quietly become one of the biggest expenses in a rental property. Vacancy, repairs, repainting, cleaning, advertising, showings, and lost rent can quickly add up when tenants move every year. The good news is that tenant turnover is also one of the expenses landlords have the most control over. In today's episode of the Canadian Real Estate Investing Morning Show, Wayne and Gabby break down what actually keeps tenants in a rental property long term and why tenant retention can have such a major impact on profitability. The core idea is simple: If you buy the right property, attract the right tenant, price it fairly, and treat them well, there is a much greater chance they stay. And when they stay, your returns improve.

Pastor Scott's message on Ephesians 6:1-9 explores how God has created order and structure in the home and in every sphere of life, calling children to honor and obey their parents, parents to disciple and discipline with grace and truth, and all people to serve and lead under His authority. He also points to the Father's love shown through Jesus, inviting everyone to receive forgiveness, salvation, and life as a child of God.

August 8, 2026 - Texas Lawn and Garden Hour by Neil Sperry
Priortising family has led one mum-of-three to a life on the power tools, rather than in the hospital ward. Nearly six years ago Amanda Fitzgerald was juggling shifts as an oncology nurse at Starship Hospital in Auckland. But when her father died, the family moved to Reporoa to support her Mum on the family farm. To make a living Amanda started her own all female lawn mowing business, SheMows. Amanda Fitzgerald spoke to Melissa Chan-Green.
Photo by Zac Taheriyan on Unsplash Published 10 August 2026 e564 with Michael, Andy and Michael – a spider filled episode with AdTech and lifesaving robotic implications, VR Mario Kart, quantum lawn mowing, identity management and a whole lot more! Michael, Andy and Michael begin the episode with Spider-Man showing up in an unexpected place – a BMW infotainment system! The negative reactions from the articles and cohosts were not surprising. The team have discussed ads you don't want showing up where you don't want them – like on automotive windshields, in AR, and more – see e481 from 2024 in the links below for more on this. The team shifts to a more enjoyable driving experience, where Andy describes what he did to enable a VR version of Mario Kart. Next up – a reflection on 30 years of Quake with an anniversary release. Then, appealing to the team's sensibilities on mowing lawns and penchant for NP quantum problems, a lawn mowing optimization game from Pudding. Switching from software to hardware, the cohosts take a look at a surprising smaller than expected device called the Octopus 16 which measures EEG brain signals to allow the user to control a computer. See the show notes below for the original box for the Emotiv headset from the July 2015 kickstarter. Then, the titular post for this show, a new robot based on nature for rescuing people who are drowning. The inspiration for this robot was a fishing spider who walks on water to capture its prey. Your show notes thankfully do not include pictures of such spiders, though if you click through to the Arxiv paper, there is a picture, so consider yourself warned. While not discussed in this episode, Dr. Kate Darling's book The New Breed: What Our History with Animals Reveals about Our Future with Robots explores social and ethical themes on robotics that fit nicely into this theme. Michael M had a chance to hear her speak at Duke earlier this year and an article about that talk is included in the notes below. Rounding out the show, the team wraps up with an identity service from Meta called Facebook Verified. This free service is intended to help identify when a person is a human and distinguish from AI agents. The cohosts shared thoughts about this topic and the service before the recording time was exhausted. S6:E66 The Real Story About Scaling & Selling a Business with Bryan Clayton Bryan has actually done the thing entrepreneurs dream about: built a traditional business to $10M, sold it, then built again in an entirely different arena. Nobody wants to buy your basket of problems. That's Bryan Clayton's wonderfully direct description of one of entrepreneurship's great misconceptions: owners often start thinking about selling when they're exhausted, margins are squeezed, employees are unhappy, and they desperately want out. By then, the business may be least attractive to a buyer. Queue up this episode of Small Business Stories for a refreshingly unglamorous conversation about what building, selling, failing, learning, and scaling actually look like. Dr. LL talks with Bryan Clayton, co-founder and CEO of GreenPal. Bryan started mowing lawns in high school, eventually grew his landscaping company to roughly $10 million in annual revenue, sold it to a national company, and then made the improbable leap from blue-collar operator to tech founder. If people don't trust the experience you're delivering, adding more customers doesn't solve the problem. And in an AI-driven marketplace, inconsistent experiences create inconsistent signals. Scaling those signals can increase misinterpretation rather than visibility. ⚠️ Core Problems Waiting until burnout to prepare a company for sale Mistaking fast growth for healthy growth Believing entrepreneurship produces overnight—or passive—success

Missionary Jessie Harshbarger shares how God called her to missions as a child and describes how King's Castle in Honduras is raising up young people to evangelize, disciple children, and bring hope to communities. She challenges the church to ask God to “break my heart for what breaks yours,” reminding them that missions is for every believer—whether by going, giving, praying, or reaching the people God places in front of them.
This week, Hysteria 51 asks two important questions: How far is too far when protecting your lawn, and has your dog secretly been judging you this entire time?First, a Minnesota man allegedly constructs a homemade spike strip packed with dozens of three-inch screws to stop neighborhood kids from biking across his grass. Because apparently a “Keep Off the Lawn” sign lacked the medieval menace he was looking for. Then we travel to South Korea, where pet owners are turning to tarot readers to uncover their animals' hidden thoughts, anxieties, health concerns, and possibly their opinions about that bargain-bin kibble. Dogs are selecting cards, humans are seeking answers, and somewhere a cat is refusing to participate because it already knows the future and finds it disappointing.Join us for homemade lawn traps, psychic pets, canine emotional baggage, and another bewildering tour through the strangest corners of weird news.Links & Resources
In Part 2 of our exploration of Psalm 115, Barry concludes his look at the responsibilities a lawn gnome cannot fulfill, but you can. God has given us mouths to act so that his unseen presence becomes unmistakably visible through our praise—in other words we need to stop being like an idol and start acting […]

Mike Garvey and Eric Triplett sit down at PodHouse Scottsdale to recap the Lawn & Landscape Technology Conference. We talk about what stood out at the show, some of our biggest takeaways, the technology and conversations that caught our attention, and of course, some of the funny moments that happened along the way. We also get into what we were doing in Scottsdale with PodHouse, the people we connected with, and why getting outside your normal circle and into rooms like this can change the way you look at your business. No script. Just two business owners sitting down after a busy few days to talk about what we saw, what we learned, and what we'll take home.
