Moxie was the first mass-produced soft drinks in the United States dating back to 1876 when it was created by a doctor. Root Beer was invented by a pharmacist named Charles Hires, who introduced the beverage in 1876 with real sassafras, something today considered too dangerous and therefore replaced with artificial flavor. Dr Pepper was introduced by a pharmacist named Charles Alderton and his famous 23 flavors in 1885. Coca-Cola was introduced by pharmacist John Pemberton in 1886, who used a small amount of cocaine. In 1893 another pharmacist introduced Caleb Bradshaw Pepsi, the later name for the pepsin and kola nut extra in the product. In 1929 Charles Grigg introduced 7UP, which contained lithium citrate, a naturally occurring alkali metal with psychotropic (or mood altering) effects.Fig Newtons, Graham Crackers, Corn Flakes, and Grape-Nuts were all introduced as health supplements. In all of these cases we are observing beverages and food-substances that were originally sold as tonics, medicinals, and the like, while today they are anything but. What was originally sold as medicine is today sold as liberty, and what would certainly never be sold as a health tonic today is also never accused of causing health issues.The British Journal of Sports Medicine reported back in 2017 the “overlap between the consumption of added sugars and drug-like effects.” Cheese is likewise known to be just as addictive, something linked to casein and casomorphines produced during digestion. The study, published in the U.S. National Library of Medicine, examines why certain foods are more addictive than others. This week we discuss the invention of the graham cracker... the tasty snack that is used for making smores, pie crusts, and other fun snacks.  However, its history is not what you might expect.  The original graham cracker was invented by the reverend Sylvester Graham in the late 1800s.  He was a proponent of avoiding lustful thought by eating the blandest food possible and made a completely dull tasteless cracker using unsifted flour and no salt or sugar.  It wasn't until much later that the cracker got an update and became the tasty treat it is today.

Meanwhile, firework mortars and camp fuel canisters were found stuffed into the back of the Tesla Cybertruck that exploded outside President-elect Donald Trump's Las Vegas hotel, killing a suspect inside the vehicle and sparking an intense investigation into possible terrorism.

What's up Bros?! We are in Tahoe with the Vanderpump crew, adnd it is our first episode with Tom back in the fold. Early in the episode we hear Ariana stating that anyone that buddies back up with Tom, she won't be friends with. Meanwhile the rest of the group sans Katie is getting ready for a trip with Tom to Tahoe. James introduced Graham Cracker (aka Hippie) to Ally, and having Rachel's dog added to the equation is just adding to the chaos of this season. Schwartz is hopeful that this trip will reunite the group in some capacity, but will it help Schena and Brock communicate better? We get a couple scenes in which Brock yells at Scheana, one time in public, and clearly they are having some difficulties. It does seem that they lighten up on Tom in Tahoe, but Sandoval still has some need to "get his side heard". Instead of just apologizing and taking accountability.
