EPISODE DESCRIPTION The Soda Popcast is back at it again with a chaotic cavalcade of cream sodas. Despite Aeron's hatred of cream sodas, your hosts take on the cream sodas from Fireman's Brew, Rocket Fizz, and Farrah Fawcett (yes, really, she has her own cream soda). Will Aeron form a new cream soda branch of the whine and cheese club? Will Dario and Andrew help her blind eyes see the light? Or will everything fall in the middle into a moat of mediocrity? Find out on episode #9 of The Soda Popcast. ANNOUNCEMENTS As Arnold once said, “The Soda Popcast'll be back” (okay, fine, we're paraphrasing). Tune in to our tenth episode dropping on 3/9. Make sure you're subscribed so you don't miss it! RELEVANT LINKS Fireman's Brew Cream Soda Sadly, this soda appears to be one that can only be acquired by hitting up a brick and mortar location. We've included the link to Fireman's Brew's website in case anyone is interested. Labrador Soda Butterscotch Cream Again, listeners, we were unable to find any online retailers that stocked this soda. It seems all traces of it have been cleared from the collective consciousness. HOSTS: Andrew: Andrew is a musician, podcaster, and general nerd who enjoys any and everything that tells a story. His first foray into podcasting, The Hillwalk Podcast, was something he began doing just for fun, with no equipment. He quickly found himself enjoying podcasting and has been creating content for the medium ever since. Dario: He emerged as if from the mist… new, yet fully formed, but sure of one thing… there is no point to uncarbonated water. Siddhartha spent 40 years under a bodhi tree to find enlightenment. Dario, an early bloomer, found it at the age of five realizing he could add soda pop and candy to watching anime and playing videos games and reach Nirvana. Dario (alder wood, year of the tiger, Aries) likes puppies, sunsets, walks on the beach, movies that explore the emotional connections that binds we humans to another in a dance of vulnerability and courage, chicken wings-medium spicy, and Sodapop. Here's what you need to know; Pepper: Yes, please. A+W: Thank you. Weinhard's: Don't mind if I do. Coke: Okay. RC: If I must. Pibb: NO. Pepsi: Oh, look at the time. Aeron: Aeron is originally from England, lived in PA for many years before relocating to California. She likes to travel when she has time, loves to bake (though she doesn't eat it), and is an avid reader of Sci-Fi and Fantasy. She has one daughter and that is more than enough. 00:00:00 - Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson returns to the show to talk about his new book, Letters from an Astrophysicist. In addition to book chat, he and Ryan also touch on the culture growth of pseudoscience such as people who believe the earth is flat, and 1960s sci-fi films like 2001 and Planet of the Apes. 00:26:46 - We have a segment for drinks. This is that segment. Abraham keeps it on topic with an Orbital Tilt IPA (Citra) from Captain Lawrence Brewing Company. Joe is back onto the Rocket Fizz with a Gene Autry Root Beer, which leads to a discussion of root beer rankings. Ryan philosophizes about west coast IPAs thanks to a gift from Abe in the form of Pliny the Elder from Russian River Brewing. 00:36:57 - In part two of their chat, Ryan and Dr. Tyson talk about his philosophy regarding Twitter, and how he learns from making online mistakes. As well as why an espoused liberal scientist might work for a conservative presidential administration. And, finally, how science has and hasn’t progressed in terms of recruiting and retaining underrepresented minorities and women. In addition to the new book, you can find Dr. Tyson on Twitter, his podcast, and his website. 01:00:59 - PaleoPOWs are delightful. ‘Nuff said. We begin with a voicemail from Alex K. about veganism, which leads to a discussion about yards and archery. It follows, we promise. Ryan reads an e-mail about Robin Hood cameos in literature from Rose E. And we double down on Patreon theses for Jerm (because we failed to remember that they got a thesis last episode) so Jerm’s extra major was completed with a thesis entitled: Pierced with rejection: Archery Implemented Relays (AIR) Mail as a low-carbon method for feedback delivery in the scientific peer-review process. Thanks again, Jerm! Thanks for a great year, looking forward to next year where you’ll get a whole lot more SCIENCE… you know the rest. More cool rewards await you if you decide to support us on our Patreon!

The only soda to rival Sprecher's Cream for Don. Chris also tries to bight the purple waxed bottle top open with his teeth.
