Jerry Portnoy, Steve Guyger and Louis Erlanger join me on episode 123, for a retrospective on Paul Oscher.Paul was born in Brooklyn in 1947 and has a place in history as the first white player in a major black blues band, with Muddy Waters. Joining Muddy's band gave Paul the best grounding in Chicago blues, he lived in Muddy's house where he also learnt from the great Otis Spann. After leaving Muddy's band Paul moved to New York and became a pivotal figure in the blues scene there. Paul put out a number of albums under his own name, with the first being Rough Stuff in 1993, up to Cool Cat in 2018. These included solo and band albums, showcasing his wide range of talents on the harmonica, and also the guitar, piano and vocals.Links:Website:https://www.pauloscher.com/Interview with Paul, by Margie Goldsmith:https://www.modernbluesharmonica.com/paul-oscher-interview.htmlLouis Erlanger Blues Blast Magazine interview:https://www.bluesblastmagazine.com/featured-interview-louis-x-erlanger/Videos:Paul Oscher documentary by Jordan Haro:https://vimeo.com/208402633Story of Jimmy Johnson and harmonica trick:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFFPMYhLTt0Paul playing piano:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HSbAahV30DoPlaying Juke on a rack:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q3WJgDEN4aAPodcast website:https://www.harmonicahappyhour.comDonations:If you want to make a voluntary donation to help support the running costs of the podcast then please use this link (or visit the podcast website link above):https://paypal.me/harmonicahappyhour?locale.x=en_GBSpotify Playlist: Also check out the Spotify Playlist, which contains most of the songs discussed in the podcast:https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5QC6RF2VTfs4iPuasJBqwT?si=M-j3IkiISeefhR7ybm9qIQPodcast sponsors:This podcast is sponsored by SEYDEL harmonicas - visit the oldest harmonica factory in the world at www.seydel1847.com or on Facebook or Instagram at SEYDEL HARMONICAS--------------------------------Blue Moon Harmonicas: https://bluemoonharmonicas.comSupport the show

here's an old saying that goes, “There are no atheists in a fox hole”. This week, we'll hear that the same is true in a prisoner war camp. All of us have been in a prison in our lives at some time or another. Sin has put many of us in a prison of our own making through our lives. On this week's show, we'll meet a deer hunter that spent a year in a North Korean prison, often being beaten daily. We'll hear how his crew's boat, The Pueblo, was taken and its crew was captured and about how God provided through it all. Join our host Dean Hulce as he spends some time with someone that lived through something as close as there is to a hell on Earth. Come along as we travel down The Trail To Adventure!

Ah yes, the embarrassing act of going to the bathroom. It's not fun for anyone. Especially for Bridgett (pants pisser) and Sarah (terrible thief). But today's topic dives into the unwritten rules of the American Public Bathroom System and the hooligans that feel they are above the law. Also, Bridgett tells a wonderful story about a Milan Fashion Week bathroom. We're getting into that rough stuff. This finale that wasn't meant to be a finale shows us what happens when Tuco's psychotic unpredictability meets Walt's completely predictable pride. Walt and Jesse have entered into a working relationship with Tuco that requires a change in which precursor they use to make their meth, so they set about one of the most incompetent heists imaginable. Also, the world stops to hold its breath as we learn that Marie is shoplifting. We would like to thank Gwen Static (https://soundcloud.com/deepwhale) for composing our theme song, and Trent Peters (http://instagram.com/theathleticbookworm) for creating our great podcast art.

Can you believe we're at the finale of the first season of Breaking Bad already? Well we are, as we move into the 7th episode of the 1st season by recapping the episode that is A No-Rough-Stuff-Type Deal. How do we feel about this episode being a season finale? Is there more to this being a season premiere than an episode to end a season? How do we feel about certain types of cars always being sexualised? What line in this episode do we have to mention being one of the most misquoted lines in the history of this show? Do we even want to bother talking about Marie and the whole shoplifting thing? How great are Tuco's shirts once again? And can we rank this finale highly once we get through some of the other finales in later seasons? It's a big episode to wrap up so get to listening and not missing out!★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★

“The more I try, the harder it seems / But you’ve turned around, blocked me out, / deliberately trying to bloody my back / Falsely sweet words, masking your soul, / I’m trying to get past this. / Plastering on a fake plastic smile when all I want is to break down and cry.” - Teresa Lee, teenage poet. Bridgett and Sarah stare unblinkingly into the void of teenage crush strategies, angelfire webpages, Sadie Hawkins dances, and Teresa is our guide. And frankly, the poem is off the chain. Like real, angsty, good stuff. So, listen in, you weirdos. Also, Teresa may or may not have a ghost.
