La Porta | Renungan Harian Katolik - Daily Meditation according to Catholic Church liturgy
Delivered by Samy Ivan Gunarsa from the Parish of Saint Mary of All the Nations in the Diocese of Bogor, Indonesia. Acts of the Apostles 8: 26-40; Rs psalm 66: 8-9.16-17.20; John 6: 44-51.THE SWEET BREAD OF THE LORD The title for our meditation today is:The Sweet Bread of The Lord. The teaching of Jesus on the Bread of Life isexpressed profoundly in the Gospel of John. That fourth Gospel in tbe bibleelaborates in detail the teaching on the Lord Jesus as the bread of life and itoffers its deep theological meaning. In essence, Jesus Christ is the source ofgoodness and salvation for our lives both in the world and in the eternal life. There was a 14 years old sweet andpretty girl in the village who sold sweet bread from door to door. Her voicesounded always familiar when she said: "Sweeeeet breaaaad"repeatedly. She sold sweet bread every day to make some profit from the onlybusiness of her widow mother. Her other two younger siblings also did the samework. Together they work to make a living for the family. Usually all the bread were sold out. Obviouslythe villagers liked sweet bread for breafast or snack, but they also seemedinterested for something else. They sympathized with the girl who bore thename"Sweet Girl" even though it was not her real name. The sweet andpretty girl sold sweet bread that expected to sustain the life of her family. With regards to the "bread oflife" in the teaching of Jesus Christ, sweetness would be somethingextraordinary. The sweet bread of that sweet girl is something of this world. It will eventually disappear and not anymore found for our breakfast or snack. Itlasts only for a moment. However, the Bread of life of Jesus Christ will not belost. Its sweetness remains because the Lord remains as the giver of life toall creatures now and in the future. Philip, a disciple of Jesus and one ofthe deacons of the early Church had eaten the firsthand Living Bread of JesusChrist. The Lord Jesus says in the today's Gospel reading the followingstatement: “I am the bread of life that has come down from heaven; whoever eatsthis bread will live forever." Philip had lived with this bread, untilwhen he met the eunuch from Ethiopia, explained the contents of the scripturesto him and baptized him. Philip had moved from Jesus Christ tothe streets, edges, and corners of life by bringing the grace of the bread oflife of Jesus Christ. He went together with other apostles, disciples, followers of Christ, and includes you and me. The Ethiopian eunuch moved from theoutskirts or corners of life to get to the bread of life, Jesus Christ, theSavior of the world. Many other people, maybe around you noware moving also towards the center namely our Lord Jesus Christ. It iswonderful that when they are going to Jesus, they meet Jesus Christ in you andme. They no longer need to look for other forms and types of bread, but onlythe Bread of Life, the Lord Jesus Christ.Let us pray. In the name of theFather ... Lord Jesus Christ, make us sweet and wonderful bread, because Youlive in us, and we will bring it wherever we go, so that our neighbor can cometo You, through us. Hail Mary full of grace ... In the name of the Father ...

The body of Christ is symbolized as “one bread.” (1 Cor. 10:17). We receive this status from the compassionate Savior who declared, “I am the living bread which came down from heaven” (Jn. 6:51). His purpose in coming was to feed a desperately-hungry, spiritually-emaciated human race, starving for truth. BIBLE STUDY| MIRACLES OF JESUS SERIES.|THE FOURTH MIRACLE OF JESUS pt.45| THE FEEDING OF 5,000 MEN WITH 5 LOAVES OF BREAD AND 2 FISHES| CHIMDI OHAHUNA In this enlightening new episode of our Miracles of Jesus Bible Study series, we explore the profound message encapsulated in John 6:11 and 1 Corinthians 13:9-12. We examine the striking reality that, no matter our efforts, we can never fully testify to the entirety of Jesus Christ. Why? Because we all possess only broken fragments of the Bread of Life. As written in 1 Corinthians 3:18, we recognize that no single individual holds the complete revelation of Christ; instead, we are all stewards of limited insights, which can only be fully revealed within a community of believers, in the unity of faith. But what keeps these pieces from coming together? The enemy relentlessly works to undermine the unity of faith within the body of Christ, disconnecting us from the crucial synergy that is necessary to reveal the Living Bread. Our highest challenge in grasping the full revelation of Christ lies in our mortality. Knowledge, though valuable, is not the ultimate advantage; grace is the true power that enables us to experience Christ more fully. So what are these broken loaves distributed to us by Christ? According to Romans 12:3, Jesus has gifted every one of His disciples with a measure of faith. This limited portion serves a divine purpose: it compels us to continually seek Him for more. Ironically, this small measure of faith, when nurtured through relationship and fellowship, possesses the astounding ability to move mountains. Join us for an enlightening study as we focus on these themes, encouraging you to embrace your broken parts, lean into community, and cultivate the faith that connects us all. Discover how together, we can transcend our individual limitations and witness the miraculous work of the Living Bread in our lives and communities. Tune in now and be part of a journey toward unity, revelation, and the incredible power of faith distributed among us! Now, let's cast our nets wide and begin this soul-nourishing journey together, right here on "the GRACELIFECOMI podcast." Any questions arising from this study can be submitted to chimdiohahunaministry@gmail.com. Check our bio to know how to give your love offerings to the ministry. Jesus is Lord.

The Catechism has spent considerable time unpacking Holy Communion—the “sacrament of sacraments”—with us, and now she summarizes the most essential truths that we must internalize and move forward with. Fr. Mike takes this “nugget day” to tell us that God desires to feed us. He has given us his Son so that we might be filled with him and made whole again, in unity with him for all of eternity. Today's readings are Catechism paragraphs 1406-1419. 1) Gospel - Jn 6:44-51 - Jesus said to the crowds: "No one can come to Me unless the Father Who sent Me draw him, and I will raise him on the last day. It is written in the prophets: They shall all be taught by God. Everyone who listens to My Father and learns from Him comes to Me. Not that anyone has seen the Father except the One Who is from God; He has seen the Father. Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever believes has eternal life. I am the Bread of Life. Your ancestors ate the manna in the desert, but they died; this is the Bread that comes down from heaven so that one may eat it and not die. I am the Living Bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this Bread will live forever; and the bBread that I will give is my Flesh for the life of the world." 2, 3, 4) Daniel Fitzpatrick on how reclaiming Sunday can revive our human nature in his book: Restoring the Lord's Day (Sophia Press) https://sophiainstitute.com/product/restoring-the-lords-day/

Friends of the Rosary: Every Friday during Lent we abstain from eating meat. It's a Christian practice that helps us to discipline ourselves and dominate our superficial hunger for food and drink. And like we did on Ash Wednesday on Good Friday we will eat one full meal, or two smaller meals. "We fast because we have a hunger for God," as Bishop Barrons explains today. Our deepest hunger is for God. And to discover this inner desire, we have to fast. We are meant to feel how hungry we are for God, the true Living Bread. In addition, the Fridays of Lent are a good practice for Good Friday as an opportunity to reflect on the Lord's Passion. Ave Maria!Jesus, I Trust In You! Jesus' declaration that He was "the bread of life" stirred both anger and opposition in the Jewish people. Confident in what they already knew about Him, they grumbled, with some not hearing, some hearing and doubting, and others hearing and disputing. Alistair Begg reminds us that we often have the same responses to Jesus today. Left to our sinful selves, we do not choose to believe in Him. Instead, our resistant hearts must be drawn by the Father, allowing us to see Jesus for who He is—the Living Bread who has come down from heaven to give His life for the world.
