You feeling this episode? Send us a text!In this episode we peel back the layers of why people cannot separate church from trauma. Often times people bring their trauma to church or their trauma started in a church but they cannot separate the culprit from God. It is like a man/woman of the cloth and God is one in the same. They're not! Some trauma is simply from being convicted by God and other are way worse and those traumas came from a wolf in sheep's clothing. We forget "free will" comes to play even when people are going against God. Let's get into it, shall we?!Support the show

For those of you who are Loving Later Life regulars, you know that I began this podcast to connect us all so that we feel heard, seen, inspired and also entertained. My hope is that you'll be inspired by my guests and perhaps even through my experiences that it is not ever too late to go for what you want in this precious life we have been gifted. There are also times when I am compelled to express a point of view that I am passionate about. This is one of those times, and the way it manifested was in a spoken word poem. Some of you may have seen my YouTube video of this already and if you haven't, after you listen to this episode, I invite you to go watch the video. The link is in the show notes page for this episode, if you go to nancylanggibbs.com, click on the arrow next to podcast in the top bar and then click on Show Notes. Then click on this episode entitled It's Up To Us and scroll down for the link. Or you can go to YouTube and search Nancy Lang Gibbs, It's Up To Us. (Or below if you're reading this on the Show Notes page!) I ask if perhaps you are not on the same page as I am, that you listen anyway to open the aperture of your lens. For those who are on the same page, please forward the link to others and ask them to do the same. The message, I believe, is so very important to share. You feeling this episode? Send us a text!In this episode we're discussing how the 1970s Blaxploitation era redefined the art of dating. It passed down the notion that dating is mere transactional and that if a man spends money on a date then he is owed a woman's body. Well, that doesn't get us to a lasting relationship with that mindset now does it? We have to return that notion back to the 70s on BOTH ENDS. Dating is just that "to go on a date". It is neither transactional or sexual. How the hell are you both supposed to know each other if one wants sex, throwing money, and talking all about self and the other is begging for an upkeep and talking all about self? We get absolutely nowhere. We are redlining past the days between true chivalry and self exploitation. Reel it back and tune in. Support the show

A few Sundays ago, my husband tuned in to a show my mom likes to watch, Music and the Spoken Word. The episode he pulled up for her was from Jan. 12, 2025. It was an interesting and thought-provoking 30 minutes, and Don and I had a conversation about it. We had experienced what was shared. Our experiences weren't as dramatic as the one shared in the program, but they were powerful for us, nonetheless. Join me today as I share the power of starting where you are, using what you have, and doing what you can to accomplish your dreams. You will enjoy the stories I share from the program Don and I heard and discussed, and the ones from my own life. If you have something you want to do but it feels too big or scary, then this is a conversation for you. : )

In this sermon from John 4:43–54 titled Faith and Fact-Checking, Pastor Thomas walks us through the story of a desperate father, a dying son, and a Savior whose word is enough. In a culture obsessed with proof—where belief often hinges on what we can verify with our eyes—this passage challenges us to consider a different kind of faith. A faith that isn't built on spectacle or emotion, but on the spoken Word of Christ. Through four scenes—The Superficial Welcome, The Supernatural Weight, The Spoken Word, and The Saving Work—we're invited to see how Jesus exposes shallow belief, honors persistent trust, and ultimately transforms not just an individual, but an entire household. This is a call to deeper faith: faith without sight, faith that takes Jesus at His word, and faith that bears fruit in the home.
God siad, "Let there be light...and there was light." God said, "Let there be this...and there was this." God said, "Let there be that...and there was that." When God spoke...it was so! The World was created by His Word, and the world and everything in it is sustained by His Word. Folks...there is tremendous power in the spoken Word!
