Today's discussion addresses the vulnerability of neurodivergent people to financial scams. Research has shown that neurodivergent individuals are at a higher risk of falling victim to financial scams, especially online. This may be due to the difficulty they have with social cues which makes them more trusting. Added to this is often impulsiveness that makes them vulnerable to the lure of the scam. The Humble Penny's video on scams highlights more of this.To protect neurodiverse people from financial scams, education is crucial as it helps to identify these scams. It may involve getting financial advice from books, workshops, or financial advisers. Another approach is to create safeguards like limits on online transactions, alerts for unusual account activity, and refraining from sharing personal information online. A trusted family member can as well be involved in managing their finances. Budgeting can be challenging for neurodiverse people because it requires skills like planning, organizing, and time management. Budgeting has also been discussed in the Christmas episode of Divine Enigma. Some tools that help with budgeting include apps like Plum, Stepladder, or Chip, automatic bill payment setups, and a visual Budgeting system. Breaking down large tasks into smaller steps can help as well as seeking financial assistance where necessary. While neurodivergent individuals are at a higher risk of financial scams, adequate education, and support can help them to successfully manage their finances.Sarah is offering a six-week coaching program for neurodivergent and neurotypical professionals who want to improve their career prospects or get into project management and take the PRINCE2 practitioner exam. There are many benefits and advantages to interviewing celebrities on your podcast. Even if your show isn't generally interview based, having some interviews with celebrities or well-known names in your niche can have a profound effect on your podcast downloads, notoriety and ultimately, it's success. In this solo episode with Kane, he talks about the benefits of interviewing others and the 7 steps you can take to get celebrity guests onto your podcast. KEY TAKEAWAYS Voice notes are a great way to approach people to interview. It gives a personal touch as well as giving them an insight into you and your voice. You will have a much higher conversion rate when you use voice notes to ask to interview people rather than other methods such as email or a standard social media DM. When reaching out to people, show that you have done your research and tell them why it is you want to interview them. Make them aware that them coming on your show is also a benefit to them, outlining what they will get out of being interviewed on your show. Be patient. Often you will be told no, but this doesn't mean it's a no forever, it's just a no for now. It can be helpful to have a spreadsheet to track who you have reached out to and when so you can reach out to them again. Ask your guests if they know anyone you should interview next. This is powerful as firstly they will only give you contacts for people at their same level or above them and secondly an introduction from a mutual contact is a strong way to start any relationship. Once you start getting guests, you can step ladder your way up the food chain. This is how you eventually get your big celebrity guests. Who do you know? You would be surprised who you have connections with, the 5 degrees of separation means you are never far away from a celebrity guest who will want to be interviewed on your podcast. Find out who oversees a person's schedule, if they have a PA for example, find their details and contact them. Think about alternative methods. Letter writing is an unusual way to contact people now, there is little to no competition and it can be a strong way to make an impact and turn what would be a no into a definite yes. BEST MOMENTS “A no isn't a no, it's a no for now” “Stepladder through the food chain” “Be persistent and really stick with it because there's always a reason someone wants to promote themselves one way or another” VALUABLE RESOURCES Website Instagram ABOUT THE HOSTS Kane Baron, Thom Luter & Aaron Nelson manage over 100 live podcasts Including Rob Moore, Kevin Clifton, Shaa Wasmand & more. We all know just how challenging it can be for a first-time buyer to get on the property ladder today. But what if a solution that’s used in countries across the world could help buyers here? My guest on the podcast today is Matthew Addison, CEO and co-founder of StepLadder. Communities around the world have used this approach for decades to reach their savings goals faster. Some communities call it partner, others call it Chit Fund. But, in essence, it’s a way to support each other towards your savings goals and hopefully get there faster. Before we get into this conversation, I need to give the usual disclaimers. Our discussion today is not a recommendation to use a specific product, simply something I wanted to explore in this podcast after hearing about it on the radio a few weeks ago. StepLadder members are not covered by the UK’s Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS), therefore your capital is at risk. Here’s my conversation with Matthew Addison from StepLadder, in episode 509 of Informed Choice Radio.
Jack and Michelle Rudolph own Stepladder Creamery in the hills behind Cambria, California. There, the Rudolphs raise a large herd of La Mancha goats and make cheese from their milk. In addition to the goats, Jack and Michelle grow dozens of acres of Haas avocados, citrus, and passion fruit. Listen in to learn why Jack had a crepe pan at 12 years old, how Michelle milked the goats while enduring stomach flu, and how they’ve experimented with growing bananas and coffee on the ranch. On the show today Lucy and Matthew talk about a financial services offering that helps first time buyers. By bringing communities of savers together, working together, Stepladder are able to help large numbers of people save and get a leg up onto the property ladder.
Jeff Buck sits down with Mario Caballero to talk about Carmel -- a small format bloomy rind triple crème sheep and cow’s milk cheese from Stepladder Creamery in Cambria, CA. The goats at Stepladder only produce milk 9 months out of the year, they created this new small format cheese to fill that 3 month gap when they arent producing and used sheep's milk instead. As always the podcast ends with some #CheesyMoments. This episode Mario shares one involving memories of sharing cheese with his dad. In today's show, Richard sat down with not 1, but 2 guests. Matthew Addison and Lucy Mullins both spoke about their fascinating service in the UK Property Market ...StepLadder. Being able to save a deposit for your home and get on that property ladder is one of the biggest challenges facing people. And StepLadder aims to be your step up onto that property ladder. A principle that is already used effectively in other places such as Brazil, Matthew knew that he could bring the concept to the shores of the UK. And along with Lucy and the rest of the StepLadder team, they're sharing the message far and wide in a bid to help as many ordinary people as possible, up and down the UK...
