Aquí tenéis el listado de temas: 1 - Journey "Any way you want it" 2 - Blondie "One way or another" (Vivir a tope) 3 - Cheryl Barnes "Love and passion" (American Gigolo) 4 - Ian Matthews "Shake it" (Faldas revoltosas) 5 - Kenny Loggins "I'm alright" (El club de los chalados) 6 - The Babys "Midnight rendez-vous" (Viva la academia) 7 - Irene Cara "Fame" (Fama) 8 - E.L.O. "I'm alive" (Xanadu) 9 - Sue Saad & The Next "Double yellow line" (Roadie) 10 - Blue Bazar "Forever" (Prom night, llamadas de terror) 11 - Shadow "New year's evil" (Fin de año maldito) 12 - Dan Fogelberg "Times like these" (Cowboy de ciudad) 13 - The Cars "Dangerous type" (Times Square) 14 - Keith Forsey "Greedy man" (Zorras) 15 - Queen "Hero" (Flash Gordon) 16 - The Who "Who are you" (Contratiempo) 17 - Pat Benatar "Hit me with your best shot"
Frank Vincent Zappa (December 21, 1940 – December 4, 1993) was an American musician, singer, composer, songwriter and bandleader. His work is characterized by nonconformity, free-form improvisation, sound experiments, musical virtuosity and satire of American culture. In a career spanning more than 30 years, Zappa composed rock, pop, jazz, jazz fusion, orchestral and musique concrète works, and produced almost all of the 60-plus albums that he released with his band the Mothers of Invention and as a solo artist. Zappa also directed feature-length films and music videos, and designed album covers. He is considered one of the most innovative and stylistically diverse musicians of his generation. On a number of occasions Zappa appeared in radio show slots, airing and generally discussing his favored music, or occasionally guesting on a 'club turntable', describing himself as a 'Fraudulent DJ'. In this episode, part two of a series of two, all the tracks in chronological order as selected by Zappa (with exception of most of his own tracks) for all his DJ appearances that have been documented, and that took place between 1968 and 1984. Soundtrack Six-Pack, Volume Three Do you have favorite songs that are buried in films and on soundtracks from yesteryear? So do we and lots and lots and LOTS of them! So we're breaking out the VCRs and dusting off the old vinyl for a sidecast series presenting short, sweet, and random collections of soundtrack gems. Hosts Jon Lamoreaux of The Hustle Podcast, Joe Royland of Sit & Spin with Joe, and Eric Miller of Pods & Sods each bring two songs to share, hence the six-pack. Not a ton of research, not a ton of pontificating, just three friends sharing some of the greatest (albeit often obscure) soundtrack songs the world has ever known. In Volume Three, we're unpacking some classics by Galliano, Roger Foster, Extreme, John Taylor, Max Frost and The Troopers, and Sue Saad and The Next.
Lee and Daniel kick off a series looking at (mostly) 1980s sci-fi with two odd-ball entries into the genre, those being the obscure "Radioactive Dreams" (1985) and the cable tv staple "Cherry 2000" (1987). Listener comments and what they've watched as of late are also covered. "Radioactive Dreams" IMDB "Cherry 2000" IMDB Featured Music: "The Barricades" by Basil Poledouris & "Guilty Pleasures" by Sue Saad.
Sue Saad was the frontwoman for the great Sue Saad and the Next, another in a long line of excellent bands that should have been much bigger. They were discovered in L.A. in the late 70s by Richard Perry of Planet Records and released one promising self-titled album in 1980 that reached #131 on the charts and was gaining steam in Europe. Unfortunately, as he's done with other guests of this show, Perry didn't put any marketing muscle behind the band and SSTN began to wither away. Thankfully, filmmaker Albert Pyun tagged her to sing on many of his classic 80s B movies. As great as that was, it didn't break her through so she retreated from music and has been largely off the grid ever since. SSTN did release an excellent second album earlier this year made up of material from their vaults. Get to know one of the most amazing voices you'll ever hear. It's a shame there couldn't have been more.
In Looker, writer/director Michael Crichton examined the allure of advertising. Model/filmmaker Marjorie Conrade and writer Heather Drain join Mike in discussing digitized images, beauty standards, subliminal messages and mustaches.
A couple of platefuls of "ado" over here please, table three. The word was "over-exposed". It'll make sense in the end. Right then, here are the delights we delighted over ... Artist #1: Sue Saad and the Next - Eponymous. Artist #2: Paddy Keenan - Poirt An Phiobaire (I can type it but I can't say it). Artist #3: Folk Pulse of the Leewards - The Emerald Community Singers of Montserrat. Let's start with a new wave cult bang!! Sue Saad and the Next. Rocksome!!! Class ... timeless class. The man himself with his pipes. From the other emerald isle ...
