Today's guest on The Kingdom Driven Entrepreneur Podcast is Teresa Kwon, Founder and CEO of Bom Bakeshop in Austin, Texas and the Managing Director of Daringly Great Leadership. She is also a member of our Igniters Mentoring Community.  Teresa never thought she'd be in the food business (she swore it off after experiencing it as a child with her family's businesses), but in the year of 2020, God spoke to her heart and told her that she needed to break up with achievement and get back to Him.  She slowed down on the consultancy work as He instructed, and from that season birthed a new business in partnership with Him and with her husband that has been a testimony of restoration, grace and favor in so many ways. When God invites you into an adventure with Him, your “yes” followed by diligent and faith-filled action is the very definition of success.  Teresa's story provides a beautiful example.

“Dare to lead great” is Teresa Kwon‘s tagline. Why leadership can be daring and challenging is obvious to most founders and entrepreneurs. Teresa shares her insights on finding first team members, transitioning from side hustling to employing people, bringing experts and eventually delegating. This concentrated wisdom can save you time, money and unnecessary headache. Start building your dream team today.    Show Notes: [00:56] Creating teams and hiring talent is the single most impactful business decision you make. [01:32] Teresa Kwon is the founder of Daringly Great Leadership. She helps businesses scale by unlocking the power of team.  [02:31] Hiring is a skill that develops over time. Early objections can be finances.  [03:34] It's really about finding people who are willing to do it all. You want people as passionate as you.  [04:08] You want the get stuff done type person. [05:49] You want people who care about your values and the kind of company you are trying to build.  [07:14] If you want someone on board with you, they need money to pay their bills.  [08:27] Think of your super sharp people as pro athletes who get the best. You're investing in this person. Equity can be key, but do your homework and be realistic. Make sure that people you give equity to are people you want around for the long run.  [12:16] Having things on paper will protect the integrity of what you are creating and your friendships.  [14:05] Create a business entity or LLC that is not you. [15:48] You can hire advisers. Surround yourself with experts and mentors. Have a good lawyer and CPA. Have experts who can advise you on the ready.  [18:09] People who you want to bring on your team. You leave money on the table by elevating people who don't have the leadership experience you need.  [20:02] Think ahead. Find a team who can carry you and help you get funding needed to grow. [21:01] Your core culture of vision, mission, and values is critical with who you hire.  [23:48] To distinguish who the right person for your team is measure them against your culture core.  [25:29] Founder syndrome is where everyone is connected to the founder. As the business grows, hanging out with the founder lessons. The founder may be unwilling to grow with the organization. A divide can be created with the original team and the new managers. Founders need to be willing to let go of the day-to-day. [30:49] Trust team members to do the selection process for you. Founders need to let go and stop being the bottleneck.  [33:18] You will see incredible results when you let go and trust your team.  We hope you enjoyed this episode. You do it through loyalty, love and treating them as a human beings. Having values alignment, empowering others, and focusing on nurturing the right culture are keys to unlocking teams. When you do this, employees will love you and be willing to work and die for you, and btw you won't have to worry about "motivating" them all the time, since they will already be self motivated. If you want a stronger team, here's how to do it. We are joined by our special guest Teresa Kwon, a leadership coach that helps online entrepreneurs scale their businesses, build strong cultures, and develop a leader mindset. We welcomed Teresa Kwon onto the OMG Show to share all her expertise when it comes to business strategy and leadership. She is working with Daringly Great Leadership as a leadership and team coach, as well as a business strategist. Teresa specializes in helping entrepreneurs step into a leadership role so they can start to amplify their income, their impact, and their freedom. After leaving a corporate role last year, she decided that she loved people and wanted to help develop and mentor others. She had a corporate consulting business on the side that was focused on helping leaders and startup founders. Without the leadership skills, her clients were having trouble building the dream business that they wanted. Teresa shares with us why she suggests hiring employees for your business and how it can help you to grow as a business owner! Most startup founders make it a point to surround themselves with people who are more specialized than they are so that they can continue learning as the business takes off. People tend to wait until they get to 6-figures to hire someone… this is a misconception! You don’t necessarily have to hire someone full time, and even bringing on a part-time employee can help grow your leadership skills. By the time that you’re ready to launch, you’re already outsourcing a ton of your business with money that you could use to hire someone as an employee. Getting to the 6-figure mark that way is going to be a lot easier than doing it alone! She also shared with us the best way to be a leader for your employees as you begin to take on more and more people to work for your company. If you’re someone who wants to take on a leadership role in your business or for your employees, make sure to tune in to this episode!  Website: https://www.daringlygreat.com Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/daringlygreat/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/daringlygreatleadership/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/daringlygreat/ Like what you hear?
