Nigerian-born songwriter, producer, and musician Azekel welcomes Yukimi Nagano from Little Dragon, Kwesi Arthur, and Shab. Together, they talk about why it’s tricky writing with people you don’t know, what it’s like working with big names, and how important it is to express identity in music. Azekel has collaborated with the likes of Gorillaz, Massive Attack, GAIKA, and Grammy-winning producer Om’Mas Keith (who’s worked with Frank Ocean and Anderson .Paak). Prince also tweeted about one of his songs, and Grace Jones is a fan. The lead singer of Swedish band Little Dragon, Yukimi Nagano has a Swedish-American mother and a Japanese father. The band are back with a new record called New Me, Same Us. Kwesi Arthur is a 25-year-old rapper and musician from Tema, Ghana. He initially wanted to be a footballer but was inspired to pursue a career in music after listening to Drake’s album Thank Me Later. And Shab is an Iranian singer-songwriter who is one of 13 brothers and sisters, a refugee now based in America. Her debut album is due later this year and the first track from it, Spell On Me, is produced by Grammy-winning producer Damon Sharpe (Ariana Grande, Jennifer Lopez). She describes the track as a “disco ode to female wildness”.

This episode starts off discussing a section of DJ Vlad's interview with Mark Henry. Docious responds to a Facebook group comment that was made about the show as well as himself. Ludacris vs Nelly seemed to fall short of the mark and rumors of DMX vs Eminem have been circulating. This week, the guys recorded in Austin, Texas during SXSW. Joined by guests Jamesy and Junae Brown, they revisit Drake's 2010 debut "Thank Me Later." Though the reception was generally positive when it was released, the takeaways have drastically changed since then.
Meet Chris. He's a hobbyist rapper/pop artist, avid lover of autotune, hockey aficionado, and wonderfully peculiar. Find out what irks him, how he's misunderstood by so many of his friends' girlfriends, what his rap name is and why it should be changed to "Call Center Rapper". Please give us your feedback at opensessionTD@gmail.com or tweet Tim directly @TimDurr. If you're interested in checking out Chris's music, it's available on Bandcamp, along with select songs available on most major streaming services. Around the 20-minute mark, Tim references a theory that says we can only hold around 250 relationships with people. He's referencing Dunbar's number, which is actually 150, along with some other theories that have found the number to be higher. Around the 27-minute mark, Tim discusses the author Paulo Coelho and how he is in favor of pirating. If you'd like to read more about that, check out this article by the Guardian. Around the 59-minute mark, we try to reference a Drake song and can't remember what it is, that would be Light Up from his debut album, Thank Me Later.
Attraction is the action or power of evoking interest, pleasure, or liking for someone or something. On this episode we talk about how attraction can make us blind but also how can we use attraction to improve our personal life and our love life through the Law of Attraction. Sometimes when we feel very attracted to someone we forget about the world and miss the red flags. Lorena Russi tells us about her experience. Lorena is a Comedian and filmmaker based in Brooklyn, she has hosted Chipotle’s Snapchat channel, and has worked in editing for places like "The Late Show w/ Stephen Colbert," Spotify and T-Mobile. How can we use the Law of Attraction to have a better love life?... Nikki Novo walks us through the process. Nikki is a Cuban-American bestselling author and intuitive dating coach. Her latest book, “The Final Swipe: Heal Your Heart, Find Your Person, and End the Dating Search for Good,” was listed as the number one dating book in Amazon. Does The Law of Attraction actually work?... YES! Lee Walker is a live proof of that. Lee is a producer and host for the podcast Thank Me Later and she explains us how the Law of Attraction changed her life forever. Your host and producer is Vanessa Valerio, a storyteller based in Denver, via Brooklyn. The theme song for Singleling Podcast is by Pavel Rivera, from Twintapes. Wordpress Web Design: Last week Jay and I had a great discussion on More than a Few Words, ( our weekly podcast) about Wordpress plugins. We asked for suggestions from the community on twitter and facebook and built a great list to add to our favorites. We have been using Wordpress as the foundation of our web design business for several years and thought we had a pretty good list of standard plug ins. But this program helped expand our list. There were so many good suggestions, we had a hard time, narrowing down which ones we would talk about. We might have to do another show on this topic later this year. Some of our favorites included: Social Metric. I found this plugin in a blog post by Adam Small, a writer for Marketing Tech blog. At a glance you can see how social your blog is; which posts are liked, tweeted, stumbled or mentioned on LinkedIn.It creates a great comprehensive list of statistics and you have the ability to post to any of the major networks right from your dashboard, giving a little extra love to specific posts. Will Hardison, of MediaPlug suggested we take a look at LiveChat. This is a terrific addition for anyone who needs to have this functionality as part of their website. In the process of researching wordpress plugins for this show, our intern Scott came across many great sources. Lorelle VanFossen, a self-proclaimed plugin slut, her words, not mine has an entire blog full of plugin reviews. I am going to be adding her blog to my reader, so I can stay on top of the latest tools. Another interesting set of plugins came from Nicholas Cardot . Thank Me Later creates an automated message to anyone who comments for the first time on your blog. We received one of these messages, and it was warm and personal. It wasn't until we went back to his site, and researched his other recommendations did we discover it was automated. By then we were already engaged in a real time email conversation with Nicholas, and that was the point. Want to learn more? You will have to listen to the rest of the pod cast here:

For the second segment of this week's show I will be playing my friend Jon's music podcast, "Listen Hear...Thank Me Later", in which he was gracious enough (aka: I blackmailed him) to invite on as a guest. As is the format of Jon's show, each week he introduces 3 bands / 3 songs per artist that he thinks people should be listening to. This week he covered a couple of my own personal favorites, so asked me to join in to share in creating the magic. ;) This week's artists: Mansions, Two Door Cinema Club and Silversun Pickups. Also, be sure to stick around at the end of the show for, "On Second Thought", an assortment of other "honorable mention" tracks from this week's featured artists.
