In this episode, I explore what I consider the single most powerful tool for overcoming insomnia — your response. When it comes to long-term recovery, it's not about finding a magic sleep trick or trying harder to force sleep. It's about how you respond to the experience of insomnia itself. We'll look at what happens when the brain's hyperarousal system misinterprets sleeplessness as danger and how to shift that conditioned response back toward safety. You'll learn how cultivating awareness, compassion, and curiosity rewires the brain through self-directed neuroplasticity — and why it's not about doing more, but about doing less and trusting your body's innate wisdom. If you've ever felt trapped in the cycle of trying to sleep harder, this episode offers a refreshing and hopeful perspective that can help you step off the hamster wheel and truly recover.Takeaways:Your response is your most powerful recovery tool.Safety, not effort, is what restores natural sleep.Compassion and awareness are the antidotes to hyperarousal. You can teach your brain that it's safe to sleep.Related Episode Links & Resources:Episode #1: Redefining Insomnia: My 3 Core PhilosophiesEpisode #16: How to Use Indifference to Overcome Sleep AnxietyBook Recommendation: Man's Search for Meaning by Victor FranklConnect with Beth:

Is the transition to a sustainable economy happening to us or because of us? Associate Professor Ioannis Ioannou (London Business School) joins host Kate Webber to unpack the recent ESG backlash and why today's “disorderly transition” must become an orderly one. We explore how investors can push markets toward aligned capitalism - a system that lives within planetary and social boundaries - while unlocking “trapped competencies” and long-term value.Overview Ioannou argues we don't choose whether to transition—the system is already shifting amid climate change, biodiversity loss, and widening social inequalities. The real choice is whether that transition is orderly (policy-led, long-term, and integrated) or disorderly (reactive, crisis-driven). He outlines how investors can re-center long-termism, integrate sustainability into core strategy (not a side product), and restore the original purpose of capital markets: scaling real-economy solutions.Detailed coverageOrderly vs. disorderly transition: Planetary boundaries are breached; social stress is rising. An orderly path minimises harm and plans within ecological and social limits.Aligned capitalism: Capitalism is a human-made system that can be re-ruled to fit reality. Policy, incentives, and investment practices should align with science and society. From stranded assets to “trapped competencies”: Future-fit capabilities (circularity, regeneration, inclusion) remain undervalued until the system aligns—creating alpha for first movers.Investor playbook: Reframe metrics beyond short-term profits; deploy patient capital toward companies building system-shifting capabilities; advocate for rules that unlock these competencies.Integration, not silos: Sustainability must hold authority inside firms; RI can't be a niche fund while the rest ignores impacts.Capital markets' role: Finance the next industrial transformation (energy, transport, food). Prioritise scaling real solutions over purely financial engineering.Beyond shareholder primacy: Re-balance to a “team production” model that values natural and human capital alongside financial capital.Long-termism & multilateralism: Global problems need global collaboration; regionalism can't substitute. Impacts are already “now,” not just long term. Why the ESG backlash can help: It forces clearer, evidence-based narrative infrastructure (not just technical standards) that connects with citizens and beneficiaries.Agency & communication: Engage end-investors better (including with AI-enabled tools); reflect their values in products; compound positive choices over time.Responsibility redefined: Don't just align—restore and regenerate ecological and social capital.Chapters00:01 – Welcome & series context00:52 – Guest intro and PRI's Investment Case database02:11 – Orderly vs. disorderly transition05:38 – Defining “aligned capitalism”07:37 – Future-fit capabilities & trapped competencies10:51 – Investor incentives for alpha & impact14:12 – Making RI core (authority, integration, structure)18:17 – Capital markets' original purpose21:08 – Shareholder primacy & governance rethink25:30 – Long-termism, regionalism, and global coordination29:02 – Why the ESG backlash might be good31:18 – From technical to narrative infrastructure36:53 –...

In this Talk Dizzy to Me episode, vestibular physical therapists Dr. Abbie Ross, PT, NCS and Dr. Dani Tolman, PT sit down with Dr. Mike Studer, DPT, MHS, NCS, CEEAA, CWT, CSST, CSRP, CBFP, FAPTA to unpack neuroplasticity—what it is, how it works, and how to apply it in vestibular rehabilitation. We cover dual tasking, prediction error, fear-avoidant vs. fear-adapted movement, motivational interviewing, and patient-directed dosage using the OPTIMAL theory of motor learning. Mike shares practical clinic and real-life examples (driving, grocery stores, cooking), mic-drop lines you'll quote to patients, and how to talk to insurers using objective measures. If busy visuals or movement bother you, consider listening on Apple Podcasts/Spotify.Neuroplasticity = learning. It's not just more pathways; it's stronger, faster, better-fed pathways that consolidate during sleep.Dose the meaningful. Intensity, repetitions, salience, and task specificity drive consolidation (“put a post-it on that memory”).Exposure works. Welcome back to Girl, Take the Lead! — the podcast where we explore the real, raw, and remarkable stories of people breaking cycles, finding freedom, and leading with courage.Today's episode features Rita Lussier, Boomer, writer, longtime Providence Journal columnist, and now author of And Now, Back to Me. Her debut book reflects on the bittersweet transition from hands-on motherhood to empty nesting, weaving together grief, gratitude, and the journey of rediscovery.✨ In this conversation, we cover:Why the empty nest often feels harder — and more layered — than expectedHow small symbols (like a child's blanket or a grocery-store snack) can trigger powerful emotionsPractical ways to “rewire” after years of care giving and start investing in yourself againThe importance of finding bliss in everyday moments — new windows, banana bread, or a neighbor's smileHow strength, reinvention, and gratitude emerge through life's transitionsRita's heartfelt stories remind us that while change may bring loss, it also offers an invitation: to rediscover who we are, to create again, and to embrace the journey with joy.⏱️ Timestamps
Part 1 – The Feeling of Shock and BetrayalWhen shock or betrayal happens, it doesn't just touch your emotions — it lands in your body. It's like your nervous system creates a snapshot of that moment and keeps it filed away, almost as if it just happened yesterday.I began to notice a pattern within myself. Every time I was reminded of that experience, my body reacted the same way — tightening, bracing, spiraling back into the pain. Even though I knew the truth in my mind… even though I knew what I heard God speak to me about those experiences… my body didn't always agree. That's when I realized something important: knowing the truth is different from embodying the truth. My mind could agree with God's word. My spirit could feel the release. But my body — my nervous system — was still holding on to the memory of the shock. And until I helped my body let go, I found myself repeating the same cycle over and over again. What I've discovered is this: healing requires all of me. Mind, body, and spirit have to come into alignment with the truth for real transformation to happen. And that doesn't come by accident — it comes through daily practice, intentionality, and learning how to re-circuit the nervous system so it no longer lives in the memory of the trauma. So, I've started walking this path — a path of rewiring my whole system. And I'd love for you to come with me as I share what I'm learning. It's not always easy. In fact, sometimes it's hard and uncomfortable. But I'm choosing to focus on the fun parts too — because there is joy in reclaiming your freedom.
Lawrence C. Harris, author of "Power to the People," discusses the formidable influence of the subconscious mind with podcast host Myrna. They explore how limiting beliefs shape perceptions of identity and potential, specifically among young Black men. Emphasizing the power within, Lawrence highlights the importance of mindset transformation, using techniques like visualization and journaling to rewire the brain for success. Reflecting on personal experiences, he illustrates how anyone can break free of societal and self-imposed constraints to achieve their dreams, offering a roadmap for empowerment and self-discovery.The discussion emphasizes the critical role of the subconscious mind in shaping our realities and how young people, especially from disadvantaged backgrounds, can harness its power to change their circumstances. Lawrence recounts his transition from a troubled adolescent to a successful entrepreneur, fueled by empowering self-talk and visualization techniques. Myrna and Lawrence explore strategies to reprogram limiting beliefs, stressing the importance of knowing one's value and dreaming boldly. Key topics include breaking away from societal stereotypes, envisioning personal success, and the necessity of exposing oneself to better experiences to rewrite mental narratives.Key Takeaways:The subconscious mind can be your greatest asset when properly programmed.Limiting beliefs often stem from societal stereotypes and familial expectations, but recognizing and challenging these beliefs is crucial.Refusal to accept societal narratives and stepping beyond one's comfort zone are essential to personal growth and success. The power of visualization and journaling can profoundly reshape how individuals perceive themselves and their potential.Sponsors of this podcastMINT MobileGet this new customer offer and your 3-month Unlimited wireless plan for just 15 bucks a month at MINTMOBILE.com/TRANSFORM.ShopifySign up for your one-dollar-per-month trial period at SHOPIFY.com/tTo advertise on our podcast, visit https://advertising.libsyn.com/TransformyourMindor email kriti@youngandprofiting.com See this video on The Transform Your Mind YouTube Channel https://www.youtube.com/@MyhelpsUs/videosTo see a transcripts of this audio as well as links to all the advertisers on the show page https://myhelps.us/Follow Transform Your Mind on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/myrnamyoung/Follow Transform Your mind on Facebookhttps://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100063738390977Please leave a rating and review on iTunes https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/transform-your-mind/id1144973094 https://podcast.feedspot.com/personal_development_podcasts/
Some interviews stick because they take a noisy topic and bring it back to reality. This was one of them. I spoke with Erin Gajdalo, CEO of Pluralsight, about what it actually takes to upskill a workforce in an AI era that seems to change by the week. We compared boardroom intent with day-to-day practice, and Erin was refreshingly clear about both. Pluralsight began more than twenty years ago in classrooms, moved online as the market shifted, and now supports Fortune 500 teams with expert-led courses, hands-on labs, and the admin tools leaders need to measure progress at scale. The thread running through the whole story is simple: people learn by doing, and companies get value when that learning maps to real work. We talked about AI in her own workflow first. Erin uses it to draft presentations, crunch data, and speed up research, then pushes that mindset across the company through focused sprints where every department experiments and reports back. That culture piece matters. Pluralsight's latest research found that 61 percent of respondents still think using generative AI is “lazy,” which drives employees to adopt tools in the shadows and exposes the business to avoidable risk. Her answer is clear guidance, safe environments to practice, and permission to test without fear of failure. The payoff shows up in real examples. One financial services firm raised prompt engineering efficiency by 20 percent and saved 1,600 hours in three months by pairing assessments with prescriptive learning paths and hands-on practice. We also explored the fear that keeps people quiet. Layoff headlines travel faster than case studies, and that skews the mood inside many teams. Erin makes a straightforward case. Treat AI as an assistant that improves standard and repetitive tasks, protect the business with clear policies, then invest in education for everyone, not only engineers. Close the confidence gap with data. Baseline skills, prescribe learning, measure proficiency, and tie improvements to actual tasks. When leaders show their own work and give teams room to try things, adoption follows. The conversation finished on the future. Technical skills will keep evolving, but the standout advantage will be a willingness to learn and the soft skills that carry ideas from prototype to production. Erin also shared a personal goal that resonated with me. She would love a private breakfast with Serena Williams to talk about Serena Ventures and backing founders from underrepresented groups. It fit the theme of the episode. Talent is everywhere. Opportunity appears when someone opens a door and stays long enough to help you through it. If you want the full story, including how Pluralsight is updating its platform for scale and how leaders can reduce “shadow AI” without slowing innovation, you can find their research and resources at Pluralsight.com. ********* Visit the Sponsor of Tech Talks Network: Land your first job in tech in 6 months as a Software QA Engineering Bootcamp with Careerist https://crst.co/OGCLA

In this episode of How Humans Heal, I have the pleasure of interviewing Dr. Aimie Apigian, the author of "The Biology of Trauma". This is such an important topic for everyone, and it's of great interest to me because I've been researching how trauma affects us as humans and how we can recover it for over 25 years. Sometimes in our attempt to heal, we end up just re-traumatizing ourselves. We find that there's been a reason why our body and our mind have wanted to keep everything stuffed down and to keep everything packed tightly away. There's a fear in the healing process of not even knowing if we want to look inside because of all the stuff we're afraid we're going to uncover. Dr. Apigian's intention is to help people not feel as scared about the healing process. She went through the process of healing from trauma herself, and now hopes to help people before they reach the breaking point she hit. We're here to help you! Send us a textYour continuous hustle has nothing to do with your to-do list—and everything to do with the perspective you bring to it.In this episode, we're diving deep into perspective—and how a single shift in the way you see your commitments can turn a packed schedule into a day that feels effortless. What You'll Learn in This Episode:Why your perspective shapes your life experience more than your schedule doesHow neuroscience proves that labeling tasks as “choices” versus “obligations” changes your brain chemistryThe cycle women get stuck in: Overwhelm → Scarcity → DisconnectionWhy structure is freedom—and how it accelerates momentum instead of limiting itHow to break the myth that “ease” means doing nothingPractical shifts to reframe your daily commitments into aligned choicesThe Science of PerspectiveThis isn't just mindset fluff—it's quantum physics and neuroscience. Your subconscious filters every experience through the meaning you assign. When you call something an “obligation,” your body responds with stress: cortisol spikes, focus narrows, and the day feels heavy. But when you shift perspective and frame the same tasks as choices you get to make, your brain releases dopamine and serotonin—chemicals linked with motivation, satisfaction, and flow. The result? Momentum builds. Willpower is no longer resistance, it becomes aligned energy.Real Life ExampleOn what was supposed to be a “day off,” I spent 8 hours nonstop running errands, meeting family for meals, and handling life admin. Instead of exhaustion, I felt ease and even joy. Why? Because my perspective shaped the entire day.Same schedule. Different lens. That's the difference between burnout and flow. Why This Matters for Women65% of women in the U.S. report feeling overwhelmed trying to balance personal, professional, and family responsibilities. That exhaustion isn't caused by the tasks themselves—it's the internal story of obligation. When you shift into alignment, you reclaim your power. You create structure not as confinement, but as a channel for freedom. This is the path of the Shapeshifter—one who learns to transform obligation into choice, scarcity into abundance, and hustle into flow.Your Next StepIf you're ready to evolve your perspective and expand your reality, I invite you to join my Shapeshifter Signal mailing list. How have screens and social media altered the brains of children? What is the long-term impact on their happiness and ability to be prosperous, fulfilled adults later on?“Looking at the brain science, we really have to treat screens more in the category of a highly addictive drug like digital fentanyl than sugar,” argues Clare Morell, a fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center and author of “The Tech Exit: A Practical Guide to Freeing Kids and Teens from Smartphones.”“These companies are in a race to the bottom. They're all in a race to get the youngest users. The incentives are not in place for them to put child safety first,” she says. While many apps advertise parental controls, the reality is there are far more hidden ways children can access addictive, dangerous, or pornographic content than parents may think, Morell says.“I just wanted to push back against this premise that the smartphone is an inevitable part of childhood. It doesn't need to be.”Views expressed in this video are opinions of the host and the guest, and do not necessarily reflect the views of The Epoch Times.
