Welcome back! This episode we actually see a fairly decent episode of TNA this week, except sike, it was a go-home show so it was trash. However, we did give TNA the props they were due, but you'll have to listen to find out where. We also have a pretty good round of the TL Would You Rather Go Fuck Yourself or Something or Other, Yeah segment, and we take another look into the story of Tiger Mask. Welcome back! This week we get a chance to talk about the fact that iMPACT! honestly wasn't that bad of a show, which means, they've fucked it. It's all downhill from here. Christian is a piece a shit, Jeff Jarrett is scared of Sting, Samoa Joe vs Christopher Daniels definitely happened, and we got some false advertising. We also get a chance to share our rather candid thoughts on one CM Punk and the goings on of AEW. It's... not looking great. Thankfully, Tiger Mask was sick as always and we move ever closer to Naoto doing the damn thing. Well, it's my highly-clever (ok not really) title for episodes where I go back and watch an older title I haven't seen in a long time, and see if what I remember (and what my opinions on it) are still the same now that some time's gone by. This month, in honor of all the Wrestlemania stuff I kept having to hear about, I'm revisiting a wrestling anime that could easily have been a random episode of Dirty Pair, except with character designs by Kenichi Sonoda. It's been several months, but it's finally over! The Matts find catharsis in discussing the show that has followed them for the entirety of their KoshienCast careers. They also try out a new segment: the character draft! Listen as they pick who they'd want on their team if their strength was based on how interesting a character they are (read: they rank their favorite characters).
It's the fourteenth episode of your favorite quarterly podcast, the Seasonal Anime Checkup! We look back at what was happening in the Spring season and look ahead to the Summer season. Remember we are on twitter now, @animecheckup! Shows discussed in this episode: Anonymous Noise (Fukumenkei Noise), My Hero Academia (Boku no Hero Academia), Sakura Quest, Tiger Mask W, Tsukigakirei
The Matts wrap up the Spring Season with the finales to Yowamushi Pedal and Tiger Mask! One of those ends up shockingly poor, while the other is shockingly good! Which one is it? You'll have to listen to find out!
Things appear to be wrapping up in Tiger Mask, except they aren't. Things appear to be happening in Yowamushi Pedal, but they aren't. What things are real? We dunno, except for one pure truth that has held steadfast for generations. Big Wind-Up is good.
Welcome to our 38th episode spectacular! Wait, it's episode 37? Well, Matt may have misled us in the opening... but that's beside the point! It's still the 50th upload! We're nearing the end of the Spring season, so the Matts begin wrapping up discussion on Tiger Mask and Yowamushi Pedal. But, sadly, Encouragement of Climb may be a rare letdown.
The Matts are happy to be back to a normal schedule where they don't have to worry about any weird scheduling only for a surprise half way through the episode! But hey, at least both had positive things to say about Yowamushi Pedal and Tiger Mask for once!
The first big race concludes in Yowamushi Pedal, and the Matts have a little theory on how the rest of the next couple of seasons will progress! Other than that, Matt does a fine solo job on Tiger Mask as Matt heads off for fun in the sun in the exotic land of Ohio for ColossalCon! Maybe he'll learn some tips on taking it easy from Minami Kamakura?
The Matts throw a wench into things by discussing Tiger Mask last! Will that help temper their expectations of the show (hint: no)? But, hey, Yowamushi Pedal manages to impress this week with something they've wanted to see for a long time!
The Matts are horrified to discover that Minami Kamakura refuses to end! Will the final episode bring the series redemption? Also, sadly Matt couldn't stick around long enough to watch Tiger Mask, so Matt is going to have to cover it on his own. Enjoy! He does a great job on his own (-Matt)!
Well Yowapeda didn't go anywhere at all this week. Neither did Tiger Mask, to be honest. Actually, despite being enormously compelling, Big Wind-Up didn't even go anywhere either! Do the Matts only like Encouragement of Climb because it's the only show they watch that actually makes progress?... I mean, no, but even so they'd appreciate if you listen to them anyway.
Hey, whadya know? Matt's back! And he's none too please about having to be dragged away from Zelda and his wife in order to watch Tiger Mask. Matt also discovers a terrible secret about Encouragement of Climb that rocks the very foundation of KoshienCast's structure for this season (read: they're only covering 2 episodes rather than 3 now). But, hey, they'll always have Big Wind-Up, right? Also, apologies, Matt's audio apparently cut out a bit when they were recording right around the 48 minute mark. It was only a second or two of irretrievable audio, but it certainly quadrupled Matt's normal editing time trying to figure out what happened!
Matt has to take this episode on solo while Matt is off getting married or whatever, but hey, his loss, as he misses out on both Yowamushi Pedal and Tiger Mask this week! Did he make the right choice on skipping out on what will surely be the defining episodes of either series?! The answer is yes
How frustrating can Tiger Mask W get? Well, Matt will have to tackle that one solo as Matt's gone for that portion this week! On the plus side, he'll still be around to explain some vital baseball terminology for Big Wind-Up. First though, they'll need to spend some time discussing this week's doozy of a Yowamushi Pedal episode!
The Matts have to draw a line in the sand thanks to Yowamushi Pedal this week! One really enjoyed it, the other couldn't stand it. Who comes out the victor? Well... listen and see. Certainly no one came out better from watching Tiger Mask this week, anyway.
It's the beginning of a new season! The Matts are pleasantly surprised with just about everything this time, with Yowamushi Pedal introducing a new, intriguing conflict, Big Wind-Up holding up after all these years, and Encouragement of Climb being shockingly tolerable!
It's the thirteenth episode of your favorite quarterly podcast, the Seasonal Anime Checkup! We look back at what was happening in the Winter season and look ahead to the Spring season. Remember we are on twitter now, @animecheckup! Shows discussed in this episode: All Out, Descending Stories: Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju, Fuuka, March Comes In Like A Lion, Masamune-kun's Revenge, Minami Kamakura High School Girls Cycling Club, Mobile Suit Gundam; Iron Blooded Orphans, Piacevole, Tiger Mask W
We say farewell to the Winter season and welcome in Spring! Except, er, it's not too much different, with both Yowamushi Pedal and Tiger Mask W being the only sports anime airing. To shake things up a bit, the Matts check out an old classic in Big Wind-Up as well as look into Encouragement of Climb, which has a new season starting up soon!
With only three shows this week, Matt and Matt have plenty of time to delve into pressing matters such as why Ryujin of All-Out is so cool and why Teshima of Yowamushi Pedal was almost a good captain. Also, the hype for Tiger Mask deflates as the identity of the former Yellow Devil comes out.
Tiger Mask pulls out one of its strongest episodes to date, and the Matts wildly speculate on how it will affect the series from here on out. But first they have to work through Yowapeda, which is sadly less impressive. Eventually though they'll have to keep putting off the inevitable and finally discuss the last episode of Minami Kamakura Girls High School Cycling Club.
Sadly, all good things must come to an end, and the Matts say farewell to March Comes in Like a Lion this week. On the plus side, it'll probably get another season. The same can't be said for All-Out, which depresses us greatly. Also, we still have another 12 episodes of Tiger Mask to theoretically look forward to.
Sometimes you need to just pick yourself up and try again, as the Matts learn in the penultimate episode of March Comes In Like a Lion. Also, we retread some well-worn ground in the newest episode of All-Out. Nothing in particular occurs in Minami Kamakura, but, well, that's to be expected at this point. Also there were some audio problems in our original upload. The were some issues with the syncing that Matt didn't catch in his original edit of the episode and they've been fixed. Sorry for the inconvenience everyone!
Things have been afoot for the last two weeks in NJPW as they run head long into the New Japan Cup. James is joined by regular contributor Chelsea Spollen to dissect the Honor Rising and Anniversary Tours which featured a title defence for Adam Cole, quite a few title changes, a debut for Zac Sabre Junior and a non title match that pitted Kazuchika Okada vs Tiger Mask W which was a hotly anticipated distraction from the serious business of the IWGP title. This was Strong Style's annual two week party adventure and The Truepenny show brings you all the news from Korakuen Hall.
We get some valuable lessons in patience in this week's episode of March Comes in Like a Lion, but not before Yowamushi Pedal can teach us about the meaning of water bottles. Minami Kamakura High School Girls Cycling Club also probably teaches us something while Teekyu defiantly bucks the education bandwagon.
We've got special guest co-host Stone Cold Matt D. Wilson from War Rocket Ajax filling in and taking names. We talk Legion, Tiger Mask W, and noisey music things. Check out War Rocket Ajax and the rest of Matt's excellent output: mattdwilson.net You can find our music recommednations at: https://perturbator.bandcamp.com/ https://carpenterbrut.bandcamp.com/ Aversion's Crown
Matt has to apologize to the British and the Irish this week for mistaking the meaning of a line during All-Out. Also, both the Matts have a horrifying realization about Minami Kamakura High School Girls Cycling Club and wish they could review Teekyu for the rest of the show instead.

Rough week this time as the Matts have the double trouble of Minami Kamakura and Long Riders to trudge through. On the plus, All-Out continues to prove how it's a rock solid pick for shounen battle sports series, but it'll have to compete with the Night Dragon of Rokko's Winter Wind for that right!
A week of soaring highs in March Comes In Like a Lion and dismal lows in Tiger Mask. Also, the Matts somehow reminisce fondly back on Long Riders, but maybe that has something to do with Minami Kamakura High School Cycling Club this week. Thankfully they have intense discussions on the horrors of being stranded at sea due to a very special episode of Teekyu.
A rough week for Tiger Mask as the Matts discuss the... shall we say unfortunate portray of The Saboten and his relationship with his mother. But hey, Yowamushi Pedal is at least a fun time and a brief indulgence in the symphony! There's also some debate over whether or not Minami Kamakura is the lesser of Long Riders, but like both of those shows, it really doesn't go much of anywhere

Teshima comes into his own in this week's episode of Yowamushi Pedal! Are Matt and Matt impressed? Probably, but not for too long while they delight in the presence of Mr. Bigfoot in Tiger Mask! Plus a bunch of stuff happens in Teekyu that they probably don't entirely understand and laugh about anyway.

The Matts welcome back Yowamushi Pedal after a 3 year hiatus! Does it return back to form? Also this week seems to be one of unexpected character focuses, as both March Comes in Like a Lion and All-Out give some rather surprising insights into some of its secondary cast. Also, Minami Kamakura sure did air!
It's a bit of a slow week, as nothing from the winter season has actually aired yet. Nonetheless, the Matts wish to at least discuss both their expectations of some of the returning shows from last season into this new one, as well as welcome Yowamushi Pedal: New Generation and Minami Kamakura High School Girls Cycling Club into the fold. Also they have resigned themselves into finally covering Teekyuu after putting off figuring out how they would cover it after all this time. For realsies. Listen to this very special episode of KoshienCast, where Matt and Matt delve way too deeply into the merchandising surrounding Tiger Mask W, and the increasingly hard to ignore yaoi subtext in Yuri on Ice. Also listen to some of the only people outside of Japan who are still following Long Riders for some reason.

Marc starts off this week's show talking about one of the best TV shows in years, Atlanta, as well as Ash vs. Evil Dead, which is also pretty good. After that, Marc briefly gets political before talking about a smidgen on new fall anime--including an anime about wrestling that takes itself way too serious, and an anime about breaking out of prison that thinks it's way cooler than it actually is. And then, like always, Marc ends with a lot of video games, including Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Xenoraid, and Talent Not Included. Cheers and enjoy the show!
In the fourteenth episode of the Strong Style Story Podcast, the usual suspects in Geoffrey Wessel and Chris Damasceno are together alongside JB Roe to discuss the on-goings of New Japan Pro Wrestling. Between the results of the Destruction shows in Tokyo, Hiroshima and Kobe, the upcoming shows such as "New Japan Road: Ganbarou! Uonuma 2016" and "King of Pro Wrestling 2016," to even some discussion of things like "Tiger Mask W" and ROH's "All-Star Extravaganza VIII," the gang breaks it all down, salt is thrown, Geoff insists on a few burials (that aren't other usual suspect/co-host Steve Cash) and a good time overall is had while the looming theory JB Roe has had all along about Tetsuya Naito & the IWGP Intercontinental title comes one step closer to fruition. Of course, you can (and are encouraged to do so) follow all of our guests in this special edition podcast as follows: - JB Roe can be followed on both Twitter (@mortcrimpjr) and Instagram (http://instagram.com/mortcrimpjr) along with his work over at http://jbroe.com/ and also, checkout his awesome work with "Brainbuster 2019" on Comicker (https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/comicker-digital/id1050345819) or Comixology (https://www.comixology.com/Brainbuster-2019-1/digital-comic/372899)!
