The Anime Nostalgia Podcast is a hidden gem for lovers of forgotten, obscure, retro, and old media. Hosted by Usamimi, a self-proclaimed otaku with a deep love for anime and manga, this podcast focuses on titles that may have been overlooked by newer generation fans. Each episode delves into the details of these forgotten gems, showcasing the host's passion and leaving listeners eager to watch or read them.

As someone who has been into manga and anime since the 90s, it can be challenging to connect with newer titles and media. The Anime Nostalgia Podcast reinvigorates my interest in the medium. The recommendations, analysis, and genuine enthusiasm for manga and anime are refreshing. It's a welcome break from male-centric perspectives that often dominate discussions on this topic.

One of the best aspects of this podcast is its focus on older anime shows from the 70s, 80s, and 90s. As an 80s kid myself, these shows hold a special place in my heart. The intelligent opinions shared by Usamimi and her guests offer valuable insights into how these shows hold up today. The resourceful information provided is both entertaining and informative for fans who grew up with these shows or those interested in exploring them for the first time.

On the downside, some listeners may find that the podcast's narrow focus on older titles excludes discussions on more current anime series. While this could be seen as a strength for those seeking nostalgia, it may deter those looking for content related to recent releases.

In conclusion, The Anime Nostalgia Podcast is a must-listen for anyone who wants an in-depth look at older anime titles through the lens of knowledgeable hosts. Usamimi's passion shines through in each episode as she shares her love for nostalgia and the medium itself. Whether you're seeking nostalgic trips down memory lane or new discoveries from decades past, this podcast delivers on its promise to rejuvenate your interest in anime and manga.

What is a “ReView” episode, you might ask? Subscribers! Be sure to go to the blog to read the description easier & check out links for this episode! This month's episode is another short ReView! What is a “ReView” episode, you might ask? Well, it's my highly-clever (ok not really) name for episodes where I go back and revisit an older title I haven't seen in a long time, and see if what I remember (and what my opinions on it) are still the same now that some time's gone by. This month, in part to honor the recent passing of Osamu Kobayashi, I'm revisiting the 1988 OVA Dragon's Heaven. Color! Style! Giant plastic models?! Is it just as cool as I remember it? subscribers! Be sure to go to the blog to read the description easier & check out links for this episode!April 2nd, 2021 marks the 25th Anniversary of the Fantasy Mecha series The Vision of Escaflowne! And to celebrate this milestone, I've called up NewTypeLady from another world to talk all about it with me! Even with an extra long run time for the occasion, we only really touch the tip of the iceberg on just what makes Escaflowne so special, but we give it all we got! Listen as we recount the series' very interesting production history, the great characters that make up this beloved show, and why we think that you should still check out this "isekai" anime all these years later. And for those who already know and love the series, at around the 1:20:13 mark, we go FULL SPOILERS and briefly talk about some of the more interesting spoilery aspects of the series, including how I can never seem to pronounce "Guymelf" correctly, extremely 90s-era anime boyfriends, and lamenting how they don't make messy villains that chew up the scenery like they used to.
