Welcome to the show! Today you are in for quite a treat as I've got something totally different for you.  In today's episode I'm doing some live coaching with Rosalyn Rourke on her audio book.  Audio book sales are a huge part of the overall revenue when it comes to selling book but having a voice that makes people want to listen is critical.  The number of times I've heard from people that they could not listen to the audiobook of a book they longed to hear but they just couldn't because of the reader's voice.  When I coach someone in putting a book on audio it is the same methodology, Psychology of the Voice.  If a reader performs, or has no inflection people won't be able to connect or listen.   If a reader is over or under done, the audience won't be able to stay with them.  There are a million nuances I find in a voice but especially in doing work like I'm doing today with Rosalyn.  I know you are going to love this episode!   Make sure you join me and Sara Connell for our upcoming Your $1 Million Dollar Talk Free Training on 2/7/24 You can register here: https://www.saraconnell.com/your-1m-talk-masterclass-feb-2024   Guest Bio Best-selling author Rosalyn Rourke, MSW, has worked deeply in the field of mental health and trauma therapy as a psychotherapist. With a Master's degree from Smith College School for Social Work in 1973, she embarked on a distinguished career that included supervisory roles in Yale Psychiatric Facilities. Her expertise further expanded as she immersed herself in trauma work, particularly Eye Movement Desensitization Reprogramming (EMDR), a highly effective PTSD treatment. In 1995, she pursued advanced training in eating disorders, focusing on binge eating and body dysmorphia. That has been accomplished by encouraging police to focus almost entirely on roadway safety and not use traffic stops as a pretext to address other issues. In addition to reducing racial disparities, the system now could lead legislators to consider a significantly different approach to traffic stops. They discuss the films, “Jurassic Park” and “Catch Me If You Can,” and the characters and themes that reflect Type Seven.“That's another Seven thing is this desire for accessibility. That ‘I just don't want fun and freedom for myself or for a special crew. I want it for everyone,' which also speaks to what a populist filmmaker Spielberg has always been.” - TJ Dawe [17:52]“You almost never see ill-will toward other people in Sevens. They genuinely… You know, they may not love everybody. They may not like everybody, but I almost never see spite and hostility coming from Sevens.” - Mario Sikora [18:19]“The paradox within Seven is that they're sensitive to limitations, being bored. When they feel bored, they do what's called a ‘hypnosis time distortion.' The time distortion is ‘This feels like it's going to last forever, and so I've got to plan my next trip to Morocco or something' in order to get away from the forever feeling of it.” - Tom Condon [32:13]TIMESTAMPS[00:04] Intro[00:33] “Jurassic Park”[06:04] Hosts' thoughts on the film[16:00] Dr. Hammond as a Seven[21:08] The omnipresence of CGI[26:43] Final movie: “Catch Me If You Can”[30:00] Hosts' thoughts on the film[35:02] Christopher Walken's character[41:12] The subtypes of the Seven[43:53] Honorable mention movies[50:51] A quick Goldie Hawn story[52:33] How to contact Tom[53:41] OutroConnect with us:Awareness to ActionEnneagram on Demand The Awareness to Action Enneagram PodcastMario Sikora: IG: @mariosikoraWeb: mariosikora.comTJ Dawe:Web: tjdawe.caTom Condon:Web: thechangeworks.com

They discuss why Spielberg is a Type Seven and explore the two of his films, “Jaws” and “Raiders of the Lost Ark.”“You can type somebody from afar, even if you don't know them. What you need is enough information. And you have to sort of keep going at it, and you have to know what the difference is between a clue and a conclusion. But Spielberg was actually pretty easy.” - Tom Condon [05:50]“Absolutely, this idea of moving away from pain is something that is a theme of Seven and absolutely, a theme of Spielberg's. I would actually say that that's one of his shortcomings as a filmmaker is this inability to sit with ambiguity or sorrow at the end of a movie.” - Mario Sikora [17:53]“One of the things in it that really shines for me as a big hallmark of Steven Spielberg's directing and a big link to him being a Seven is just how much energy there is on the screen.” - TJ Dawe [26:40]TIMESTAMPS[00:04] Intro[00:56] Our special guest, Tom Condon[01:52] The featured director: Steven Spielberg[02:55] Enneagram Type Seven[05:37] Typing Steven Spielberg as a Seven[12:49] The theme on absentee fathers[17:47] The idea of moving away from pain[21:03] First movie: “Jaws”[26:10] Hosts' thoughts on Jaws[31:07] TJ's experience with Richard Dreyfuss[34:17] More facts about the movie[40:19] “Raiders of the Lost Ark”[48:40] Hosts' thoughts on the film[50:52] The pace of the movie[55:17] This desire to please[59:16] Great moments of humor[1:01:52] OutroConnect with us:Awareness to ActionEnneagram on Demand The Awareness to Action Enneagram PodcastMario Sikora: IG: @mariosikoraWeb: mariosikora.comTJ Dawe:Web: tjdawe.caTom Condon:Web: thechangeworks.com

Join us and our special guests, Tom Condon and Russ Hudson, as we explore Mann's work and Enneagram Type Eight, “Striving to Feel Powerful,” in depth.“When an Eight's been doing their work, they have a sense of honor. The word is their bond. They're empowering. They can make excellent mentors and protective figures. They are merciful, kind, generous, openhearted, tender, letting themselves be touched by the world, and they still have the energy and the power and the strength they had before.” - TJ Dawe [11:07]“One of the ways you're talking about being on top. One of the other ways that I understand it and have heard it from Eights is in terms of size. In other words, I need to be big in order to compensate for feeling small, for feeling numb, for feeling overlooked, for feeling not cared for. I'm on my own in this tough doggy dog world.” - Tom Condon [23:11]“The other big thing with Eights is loyalty.” - Russ Hudson [36:45]“I think in other times, you're absolutely right, that speaking stilly and quietly and directly is a form of power, right? ‘I don't need to yell.'” - Mario Sikora [50:31]TIMESTAMPS[00:04] Intro[00:59] Our special guests, Tom Condon and Russ Hudson[03:04] The featured director: Michael Mann[09:17] Enneagram Type Eight[16:22] Feeling numb, avoiding vulnerability, and vengeance[21:02] The relationship to the Connecting Points Two and Five[25:46] “The Jericho Mile”[28:46] “Thief”[33:48] What is Eight-ish about this movie[40:54] Frank's survival strategy[46:34] The system is corrupt[51:39] Another Eight value: Realism[54:19] The common theme of men at work[59:50] Other Eight-ish scenes in “Thief”[1:01:57] OutroConnect with us:Awareness to ActionEnneagram on Demand The Awareness to Action Enneagram PodcastMario Sikora: IG: @mariosikoraWeb: mariosikora.comTJ Dawe:Web: tjdawe.caRuss Hudson:Web: russhudson.comTom Condon:Web: thechangeworks.com

It’s no secret the pandemic has hit Connecticut’s economy hard. It’s also no secret that the Covid shutdown has hit the state’s black and latino communities the hardest. Pre-Covid, there were some more signs of life in Connecticut’s cities, especially in downtown areas. But those gains weren’t always felt in the neighborhoods. City residents have been saying this to political leaders for decades, and still, little was being done. The CT Mirror’s Tom Condon, a veteran reporter, has been exploring the different ways the state could make recovery more “inclusive.” This means everything from transportation and infrastructure improvements, to finding ways to get private investment into neighborhoods. The idea is called “inclusive growth,” and Tom has charted how it’s helped cities like Cleveland, Minneapolis, and Oakland. In a new series, launching today in The CT Mirror, he considers how these ideas could be put to work in Connecticut. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Jack Mills, agent for Baker Mayfield, joins the podcast to share the secrets he has learned over his 50 years representing NFL players. I've long held this belief that if you are a sports fan you should work in sports. I know, revolutionary, but hear me out.All the people out there who are accountants, administrators, human resources reps, sales account executives, marketing coordinators – all of these jobs exist in the sports industry, so rather than selling tires, why not sell tickets. Rather than marketing the worlds largest concrete museum, why not market sports events.Analyze spreadsheets for some ecommerce site, or analyze game film?Community relations for JP Morgan Chase, or Community Relations for the Toronto Blue Jays   Just about every job in the business world can be done in the sports world. They are simpatico! But then there are the glamour jobs in sports too.Sports anchor.Coach.Scout.General Manager.Agent.These are the jobs that are very unique to the sports industry, and require special focus and talent. Let's hone in on that last one. Agent. Since Jerry Maguire the idea of becoming an agent has grown massively in popularityThere are about 830 agents certified by the NFL Players Association — more than one for every three players in or around the league. Roughly 75 percent of NFL players are represented by just 17 percent of all certified agents, according to NFLPA statistics. The Super Agents rep about 75% of the NFL, then the rest battle it out for who is left.Guys like Tom Condon – who represents Drew Brees, Eli Manning, JJ Watt and Matthew Stafford amongst others – accounts for 1.4 billion in contracts alone. That is insane. But, that doesn't mean the business is closed out for people trying to break in. These super agents don't work alone, they have huge agencies. There are Undrafted free agents, like Patriots Super Bowl hero Malcolm Butler who is represented by little known Derek Simpson. There are ways to make a name for yourself in this side of the sports industry if you truly want it.But how? What is the answer? What should you learn? What should you focus on? How do you land clients?Well, I have just the person to answer that for you. Jack Mills from Capital Sports Advisors – don't know Jack? Well, you should. He's the agent for #1 overall pick in the 2018 NFL draft Baker Mayfield. When Tom Condon and Drew Rosenhaus and Jimmy Sexton came knocking on Bakers door, it was Jack who stole the show.Jack's been around the block more than a few times. He represented 4 1st round picks in the 1970 draft. He's represented Eric Dickerson, Tony Boselli, Rod Smith and a bevy of other top line, pro bowl, hall of fame type players. And he's here, to share it all with you. So let's get to it.Questions for NFL Agent Jack Mills1: Over the years it appears that agency has consolidated into a few major big players – all the biggest and brightest get represented by a handful of names, or agencies. As someone with decades of experience, but maybe not as much of a household name as let's say Drew Rosenhaus -- how do you cut through huge competition to still land players like Baker Mayfield and 3rd round pick Michael Gallup? 2: I found it very interesting that Tom Brady and Jimmy Garapollo are represented by the same agent Don Yee – how does that work? How can you possibly do your fiduciary best by your client if another client is in competition for the same position on the same team?3: How would you describe the art of being an agent – is it a relationship job? Or more of a CBA / contract negotiation job?4: You and I were connected by a mutual friend Zach Gross, and I give Zach a lot of credit, you were a panelist at the Sports Management Worldwide NFL Combine Career Conference and he identified you as someone he wanted to meet, and he struck up a conversation and has built a relationship with you since. How vital is it to be that personality type, the aggressive fearless, talk to anyone type, to be a successful agent?
