This episode is for the moms in the preteen and teen trenches, or honestly anyone who is realizing that big feelings have a way of calling out old wounds. I'm talking about what I'm learning as my girls get older, especially when attitude, tone, communication, and hurt feelings start showing up in new ways. This one is about not taking everything personally, asking whether I'm responding to my child or my childhood, and trying to become a safe space instead of just the correct space. It's a common misconception in the investing industry that bigger is always better. If someone manages $85 billion in investments, shouldn't they be a pro? Unfortunately, this is rarely the case. Today, Paul shares an interview on national television in which a Wall Street “legend” really gets pressed on his 20+ years of bad investing advice. Listen along as Paul describes what a “permabear” is in investing and how people can make a living scaring people out of investing in stocks. Later in the episode, Paul and Arlene share that individual investors aren't the only ones who can try to stock-pick, as major index funds jump to add SpaceX to gain credibility and follow the trend.

Send us Fan MailThis is part two of my entertaining chat with Mike Melton of MCM Timing, the absolute best in the business of timing very long races. As I mentioned last episode, I inherited Mike for the American Heroes Run after David unexpectedly passed away less than four months before the race and I suddenly took up the mantle of race director, and I got really lucky because Mike ensured that not only would the race not miss a beat in the transition, but I've had a partner ever since that has helped me maintain the highest quality in the race running smoothly, with accurate timing and results. Mike is well-known across the continent for his precision work with many of the most prominent ultras, on point-to-point trails, loops, indoors, in hot weather, cold weather, rain, snow, wind, you name it. Mike and I have traded stories for hours at the American Heroes Run, but it was super cool to be able to chat with him here without getting interrupted by race duties. No one has seen as many unusual occurrences, or has gained more perspective on human behavior of those who run races like these, as Mike has. Send us Fan MailThey say that a game is well-officiated when you don't even notice the referees or umpires. I sure can't say that about this NBA Finals, where the officiating has been atrocious. But if you've ever run an ultramarathon, especially a multiday race, and didn't notice the timer, it might have been because that was Mike Melton of MCM Timing, the absolute best in the business. I inherited Mike for the American Heroes Run after David unexpectedly passed away less than four months before the race and I suddenly took up the mantle of race director, and boy, did I get lucky because Mike ensured that not only would the race not miss a beat in the transition, but I've had a partner ever since that has helped me maintain the highest quality in the race running smoothly, with accurate timing and results. Mike and his company have timed everything from 5Ks to many of the most significant ultras in North America, including the Barkley Marathons, Big's Backyard Ultra, Six Days in the Dome, Across the Years, the Keys 100, and many more. In fact, he is on the road in his Sprinter van that has 500,000 miles on it for 265 days a year. He has seen it all and has some great stories to tell here. In fact, so many that I have split this conversation into two parts. Mike also shares his origin story in the timing business and as a runner. Many might not know that Mike ran 171 miles in 72 hours at Across the Years, and has a very respectable 100-mile PR of 22:49. Mike also tells about how he and David connected for the very first American Heroes Run and how it led to the development of the software that Mike now uses for races that run laps.Mike MeltonFacebook Mike MeltonBill Stahlsilly_billy@msn.comFacebook Bill StahlInstagram and Threads @stahlor and @we_are_superman_podcastYouTube We Are Superman PodcastPlease consider donating to support Team Leadville and Boulder Crest to help end veteran suicide! Today's Sports Daily covers this weekend's Elite 8 games being blowouts – until the last game, Duke's major issues closing out games goes back to last year, Danny Hurley owns the NCAA Tournament, and AZ/Michigan Final 4 is setting up to be an all-timer. Music written by Bill Conti & Allee Willis (Casablanca Records/Universal Music Group) Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. See pcm.adswizz.com for information about our collection and use of personal data for advertising.
And then there were four. But damn what a journey it took to get us here! Sunday's UConn/Duke game was so epic and so good (unless you're a Duke fan) that Hartzell and Norlander had to spend the first half hour unpacking what we all saw go down in Washington DC last night. Plus, other takes from the weekend; including the two other really good games in the East Regional, Illinois' romp through the Midwest, the absolute wagons that are Michigan and Arizona, plus some first-hand accounts of the San Jose trip from our boy Norlander. Some Indianapolis look-ahead with the fellas, and we end the show with the latest on UNC's head coaching vacancy and the top three candidates - in order - as we head into the Final Four. And what happens if they all say no? Yikes. See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Title: Bold Enough to Believe the BinaryScripture Reading: 2 Peter 2:5; Hebrews 11:7; Genesis 6:13-22Series: Be Bold!In a world that values 'standing on the fence,' are you bold enough to believe in the binary reality of God's judgment and salvation? This sermon explores the life of Noah to illustrate the necessity of taking a firm stand for God. Drawing a contrast between the indecision of Aaron Burr and the conviction of Thomas Jefferson, we examine how Noah chose to take a stand regarding the coming flood. The message breaks down the flood narrative into three parts—the timer, the terror, and the task—highlighting that the ark was a bold, public declaration of faith rather than a secret. Ultimately, believers are challenged to stand out from the crowd by embracing the biblical binary of eternal destinations, recognizing that while the world favors gray areas, God's word is clear on the reality of judgment and the promise of salvation. Stop 'standing on the fence' and boldly commit to the biblical truth that salvation is found only through faith in Jesus Christ.
