Order of Service: - Unless a Grain of Wheat: Refrain: Unless a grain of wheat shall fall upon the ground and die, it remains but a single grain with no life. 1) If we have died with him, then we shall live with him; if we hold firm, we shall reign with him. 2) If anyone serves me, then they must follow me; wherever I am, my servants will be. 3) Make your home in me as I make mine in you; those who remain in me bear much fruit. 4) If you remain in me and my word lives in you, then you will be my disciples. 5) Those who love me are loved by my Father; we shall be with them and dwell in them. 6) Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you; peace which the world cannot give is my gift. - Isaiah 12:1-6: In that day you will say, “I will praise You, O Lord. Although You were angry with me, Your anger has turned away and You have comforted me. Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord, is my strength and my song; He has become my salvation. With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. In that day you will say: “Give thanks to the Lord, call on His name; make known among the nations what He has done, and proclaim that His name is exalted. Sing to the Lord, for He has done glorious things; let this be known to all the world. Shout aloud and sing for joy, people of Zion, for great is the Holy One of Israel among you.” - Devotion - Prayer - Hymn 306 - What Wondrous Love is This, O My Soul, O My Soul - Blessing - Postlude Service Participants: Graham Parsons (Preacher), Rev. Prof. Dennis Marzolf (Pianist), Simon Kovaciny (Soloist)
There was no recording last week because the old sound board, after about 25 years, died. I'm currently using a board borrowed from Wayne. While I was able to record this time, some of the audio was too loud in the recording and became distorted. I apologize for the low sound quality at those times. Sarah Hart is a singer, songwriter, speaker, storyteller and producer who talks about how we are tethered by God's love. This tethering is a gift from God and is experienced in our relationships through love, emotion, care and concern. Sarah shares how she is always tethered to her daughters, even after they grew into adulthood. Sarah trusts God is with them and recognizes her love for them is most important. Sarah talks about being stretched as she learned to accept she doesn't have control over her adult children's decisions. This has taught Sarah how it is healthy for adult children to make mistakes and return to the Lord. Sarah sings for listeners in this beautiful podcast.
Pastor Carolyn Hetrick of Grace Lutheran Church, State College, PA leads the first of a five session Bible study on trees in Scripture and what they tell us about God, our place in creation and abundant life. This episode we examine the trees of the story of Noah and the flood, and the shoot on the stump of Jesse found in Isaiah and in Paul's letter to the Romans, as well as the connection between Scripture and family trees. This week's music: "What Wondrous Love is This" arr. by Judy Nishimura and played by Laurel Sanders. Used with permission of ALRY Publications (www.alrypublications.com), for use by Grace Lutheran Church.
Pastor Carolyn Hetrick of Grace Lutheran Church, State College, Pa continues a series on the fruits of the Spirit found in Galatians 5:22-23 and how Scripture applies our faith in life. Today we focus upon compassion of heart and our starting point is compassion for one's self, imagining we are in the compassionate gaze of God. When is the last time you spent time with God in that gaze and assurance? How might tending our own inner life help us to pour out that fruit of compassion for others? Today's music is "What Wondrous Love is This?" Arranged by Judy Nishimura and played by Laurel Sanders, flute.
"When I was sinking down beneath God's righteous frown...". This line from the hymn "What Wondrous Love is This" captures what was happening to Jonah in the moments immediately after being thrown overboard from a ship. But it's not the end of the story, for God intervenes at the last minute in a miraculous way to save him. This sermon on Jonah 1:17-2:9 unpacks Jonah's helplessness and God's mercy, and explores how God still saves the same way today. June 26, 2022

How is the flame of faith in your life these days? Is is a roaring bonfire, a modest hearth fire or "do you need to look for kindling?" However, you are feeling, the letter to the Ephesians was written to offer hope and encouragement and reassurance in being a community of believers, grounded in the good news of Jesus amidst challenging times. Pastor Carolyn Hetrick of Grace Lutheran Church, State College, PA leads the first week of this Bible study on the Book of Ephesians and today focuses upon some background that makes us see how much we may have in common with the early Christians, and then the first chapter of the letter which is a prayer full of thanksgiving and encouragement being prayed for those who hear or read it- including us! Welcome to another episode of Reformation Roundtable. My name is Joe Stout and I am pleased to bring you the recording of our fellowship night that took place on Sunday evening Feb. 21st, 2021. Reformation Roundtable seeks to plant a biblically reformed church in Lewis County WA. We are moving closer every week to becoming a mission church and are currently seeking 10 founding member families to join our ranks before we go “live.” In the mean time we are practicing our liturgy in anticipation of that glorious day when we will launch. During this fellowship night we have a time of exhortation and encouragement, singing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs, a time of corporate confession of sin, prayers of thanksgiving and prayers of petition, and a discussion of covenantal child rearing. We then finished the evening with food and laughter. If you would like to join us in this kingdom work, know that you will be answering the prayers we are praying. We want more and more households to join us in the ripe harvest in Lewis County. Please join us. Head on over to lewiscounty.church and you will a tab titled “events” which will list our meetings and fellowship nights. Also you will find a “contact us” tab and filling out the form on that page will put you in touch directly with me and I can answer any questions you might have. The bottom line is that we really hope you will come along side us in our work. Well that is enough from me, I hope you enjoy listening in on our evening and are blessed by the time of worship From prior to the meeting: We will be fellowshipping together and studying Chapter 1 of the book "Standing on the Promises. Here is a .pdf of chapter 1. We will be learning a new song called "What Wondrous Love is This?" . This is an American folk hymn written in 1811. The link will take you to YouTube where you can learn the tune. Here is the song packet and liturgy for our time together!
