*Trigger Warning- This case involves discussions surrounding child sex abuse and child sex-trafficking that may be triggering for some listeners. Please use discretion when listening to this episode*In this two-part episode, we discuss the disappearance of Johnny Gosch- a 12-year-old paperboy from West Des Moines, Iowa who was abducted during his routine paper route in the early morning hours of September 5, 1982. For forty years, this case has perplexed the public due to the lack of police response early on in the investigation, the many possible sightings of Johnny and the shocking revelations that unfold over the years. In 1989, a man in prison comes forward claiming to know what happened to Johnny because he was involved in the kidnapping. Not only that, but he claims that he was a victim of the same group of people and even suffered a similar fate at the hands of an alleged dark, twisted and intricate child sex trafficking ring. This case is so dark, twisted, shocking and unbelievable you have to hear it to believe it!Check out our new website and leave us a voicemail with your feedback! https://www.crimefamilypodcast.ca/Music (pre-theme) by LiteSaturation on Pixabay.EPISODE RESOURCES:The Mile Higher Podcast- "The Disappearance of Johnny Gosch: Is He Still Out There Today?":https://youtu.be/rKWLEfac9zE"Where Is Johnny Gosch?// Massive Cover Up?// True Crime Mystery (Including clips of "America's Most Wanted" episode featuring Paul Bonacci):https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iagFTIJnBFQ&t"An Iowa kidnapping that helped changed the nation"- The Des Moines Register:https://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/news/crime-and-courts/2017/09/04/johnny-gosch-kidnapping-west-des-moines-child-abduction-responses/595639001/LA Times (Archives): "Body Is Found; Lost Paperboy Case Reopened":https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1990-04-05-mn-1010-story.htmlUnited Press International (Archives): "Two Years and Still No Trace of Johnny Gosch":https://www.upi.com/Archives/1984/09/03/Two-years-and-still-no-trace-of-Johnny-Gosch/2986463032000/United Press International (Archives): "John and Noreen Gosch Displayed the Message Written On...":https://www.upi.com/Archives/1985/07/10/John-and-Noreen-Gosch-displayed-the-message-written-on/8102489816000/"Probe Over Boys' Photos Continues"(KCCI Des Moines):https://web.archive.org/web/20070312095923/http://www.kcci.com/news/9849752/detail.htmlInterview with Noreen Gosch:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v"Who Took Johnny" (2014; Documentary available on Amazon Prime):https://www.amazon.com/Who-Took-Johnny-Noreen-Gosch/dp/B01DEBMPWC#:~:text=WHO%20TOOK%20JOHNNY%20explores%20an,tireless%20quest%20for%20the%20truth.

Netflix's eight-part review of the Madeleine McCann case, The Disappearance Of Madeleine McCann, is journalistically rigorous -- but is it rigorous to a fault? Eve returns to look at the series, its organizing principles, its indictment of tabloid media's role in the case, and how we think the case would "play" if Madeleine disappeared today. The bleak possible outcomes continue in the Cold Case section; we're looking at Who Took Johnny, a 2014 documentary about the 1982 disappearance of Johnny Gosch in West Des Moines, IA. It's a watchable film that at the same time isn't good, but provides an interesting contrast with TDOMM in what it chooses to highlight, and whom it chooses not to question. In Episode 48 we revisit many of the stories we've previously covered on Sword and Scale and fill you in on what has happened with in each case. We start with alleged theater shooter Curtis Reeves who is accused of shooting and killing Chad Oulson after a disagreement about texting during the previews of a movie. We then move on to the story of Vince Li, a schizophrenic man who suddenly without provocation beheaded Timothy McLean on a Greyhound bus. Then we jump over to South Africa, for an update to the Oscar Pistorius case, and the lackadaisical sentencing of this self admitted killer. We then ride the rollercoaster of twists and turns in the Holly Bobo case and discuss the various cast of strange characters accused of being involved with her murder. Such a jam-packed episode demands a strong opening act. We bring you one with a one-on-one interview with Noreen Gosch, who's son Johnny was abducted in 1982 and subsequently became the central piece of the Franklin Credit Scandle Conspiracy. We talk to her and director David Beilinson about his new film "Who Took Johnny?"
This week we talk to Michael Galinsky about the role of emotions in physical pain Michael Galinsky is an American filmmaker, cinematographer, photographer, and musician who has produced and directed a number of documentaries, including Battle from Brooklyn and Who Took Johnny. He also runs a production and distribution company called Rumur. He is currently running a Kickstarter campaign to fund his new film, All The Rage which is based on the pioneering work of Dr John Sarno. Dr Sarno is a leading figure in understanding the role of emotions in physical pain. In This Interview Michael and I Discuss... The One You Feed parable. The history of Dr John Sarno. How being a "goodist" can create strong repression and anger. How repressed emotions can cause physical pain. His family history with Dr. Sarno. His personal battles with pain. How Howard Stern, Larry David and John Stossel are fans of Dr. Sarno. How pain is a normal problem but chronic pain is a failure of the body to heal itself. The challenges in healing the emotional issues that can cause physical pain. The role of fear in causing physical complaints. Meditation practice as a way to manage challenging emotions. How pain can be a barometer of how we are doing emotionally. Knowing is not the same as doing. The difference between acceptance and repression.
