Listeners of Eat with Her Don't Compete with Her - Podcast that love the show mention:For this to have just been a recap… God really met us right here on the screen—and I'm so thankful. I'm glad I was led to open in prayer with and for you all. Honestly, that moment was a testimony in itself—evidence that God is peeling back the layers in real time. This episode gave us space to pause and reflect on the spiritual journey we've been on so far—starting with salvation, moving through identity, growing in intimacy with God, and now diving deep into repentance and forgiveness. We've come too far to turn back now... lol but seriously. I loved revisiting 2 Chronicles 7:14 to unpack what I call the 4-part formula for forgiveness: 1. Humble yourself 2. Pray to God (ask for forgiveness) 3. Seek Him continually 4. Turn from sinful ways This episode is both a checkpoint and a heart check, getting us ready for what's coming next: discipleship, prayer, and eventually, my personal testimony on becoming. QOTD (Question of the Day): What are you petitioning God for in the areas of salvation, identity, intimacy, repentance or forgiveness? Community Challenge: Go back through those areas of your life (salvation, identity, intimacy, repentance or forgiveness) and bring it to God in community so that he can challenge us to grow together. Whether you're just joining the series or have been walking with me step by step, this episode reminds you why rebuilding with God is worth it. Don't miss it.
In this episode, Part 4 of the Blueprint of Becoming series, we explore the quiet, powerful invitation to repent and release what we were never meant to carry. The theme of this episode coincides directly with the unorthodox format and laid back atmosphere in which the episode was shot. God is intentional and he met us on the beach. Whether it's unforgiveness, offense, or emotional weight you've held for too long—God is calling you to return and rest in His peace. As I share how I've learned to take in the beauty around me and hand over the burden of bitterness, you'll be reminded that repentance isn't about shame—it's about freedom. Repentance is about becoming in the way that you were meant to; the complexities journeying through simply being. Strengths, weaknesses and everything in between. I chose to shoot this episode where I was and God meant me where I was. When you choose to be in the mist of your offense, God will meet you right there. In the pain, God will meet you there. When it's hard to forgive, God will meet you there. In spite of how you feel, God will meet you there. With folks almost knocking over the camera, with me not being formal in my approach, but simply "being"... The true blueprint of becoming is allowing God into the places that you think you have under control over. Because the truth is, we have no control. He is in control. Just welcome Him in, give him room to change the "room" and space to change your mind. Change your mind about offense and change your heart about forgiveness. He did it for me, so I know he can do it for you. And forgiveness isn't letting someone off the hook—it's setting yourself free.
In this fourth installment of The Blueprint of Becoming, we dive deep into the life-changing power of intimacy with Christ. This isn't just about knowing about God—it's about being known by Him. Tune in as we explore the transformational nature of true intimacy with Christ. Beyond surface-level faith, this conversation challenges you to examine whether you are walking in real friendship with God—or simply knowing about Him from a distance. We unpack the difference between head knowledge and heart transformation, the weight of obedience in cultivating closeness with God, and how reverence and trust form the foundation of spiritual intimacy. You'll hear reflections on the sobering realization that not everyone is a friend of God—and the grace that invites us into deeper communion with Him. Whether you've been walking with God for years or you're just beginning to seek Him for yourself, this episode invites you to go deeper—to know and be known by the only One who truly matters. Scriptural guidance: Moses face to face with God: Exodus 33:11-16 Coming close to God: James 4:8 Obedience & Trust: Hebrews 11 Prayer: I Peter 5:6-8 Fellowship: Acts 2:42 QOTD: Do you know and are you known by God? Community Challenge: Evaluate your circle This is only Part 4 of The Blueprint of Becoming: God's Process of Spiritual Architecture. In this special episode of Eat Don't Compete, I'm joined by the one and only Patricia Gaskins for a natural and genuine conversation about our identities in Christ and the beautiful, sometimes messy journeys of becoming. How many of us can admit we're still on that journey?
In this second installment of our Spiritual Architecture series, we're diving into a powerful truth: salvation isn't the end goal—it's just the beginning. Too often we treat the moment of salvation as a finish line, when in reality, it's one of the first bricks in the foundation God lays for a life of deep transformation, intimacy, and Kingdom purpose. Throughout this series we will cover: Spiritual Architecture Salvation Identity Intimacy Repentance Discipleship Truth Sanctification My story/My testimony In this episode, I'm sharing my own reflections on what I believe it means to walk out our souls salvation continuously, in response to Jesus' sacrifice for our sins. I reflect on foundational [biblical truths] and some fundamentals of salvation. We reflect on the impact of God's love mentioned in John 3:16. It's my prayer that you expand on this list and add to it. Comment below and let me know of some fundamentals of the way you live out your salvation? Reflection Question: Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior? Challenge: How have you taken your salvation for granted? This week, take time to sit with that question in prayer. Ask God to show you where He wants to take you deeper, and recommit to growing beyond the basics of your faith. Subscribe for content that inspires, motivates and empowers you. In today's episode of the Eat Don't Compete, the discussion is titled The Blueprint of Becoming: God's Process of Spiritual Architecture — a transformative 9-part series where we journey through God's divine building process for both yours and my own spiritual lives. I promise you, I'm not here to talk at you — I'm here to walk with you. This isn't just a podcast series — it's a spiritual excavation, a rebuilding, a holy realignment with the Chief Architect Himself. In this powerful kickoff episode, we're laying the foundation by diving deep into what I call Spiritual Architecture. We'll explore the 5 Core Spiritual Architecture Layers God often walks us through when He's rebuilding us from the inside out: 1. Demolition – God removes what can't support your future. (Things like pride, idols and the weight of trauma…) Jeremiah 1:10; Supporting scriptures: Hebrews 12:27, Jeremiah 12:14-17, Col. 2: 6-7 2. Reset – God lays a new foundation in Christ, establishing his truth in your life. I Corinthians 3:11; Supporting scriptures: Isaiah 28:16 3. Framework – God reveals who we are in Him 2 Corinthians 5:17 Supporting scripture: John 1:3 4. Blueprint – God aligns you with His intentional design for your life. Jeremiah 29:11; Supporting scripture: Proverbs 19:21 5. Inspection & Refinement – Tested and tried. Can't build anything without first testing that it's sturdy. I Peter 6:7; Supporting scripture: James 1:2-4 In this episode, I encourage you to pause and assess where God currently has you in your own spiritual construction zone. Are you in a season of tearing down old structures, or is He showing you the next layer to build upon? This is not about perfection — it's about progression. It's about being honest with yourself and open to what God wants to do in your life. Because becoming isn't passive — it's intentional. Throughout this series, we'll journey through several themes spiritual architecture (today's episode), salvation, identity, intimacy, repentance, discipleship, truth, sanctification, and ending with my story / my testimony. Question of the Day: Which Architectural layer does God currently have you on? Challenge: Evaluate, poll your friends and family, journal and/orpray about the architectural layer God is currently building in your life. Take time today to thoroughly assess your current season. Is God demolishing something in you, resetting your foundation, or refining what He's already begun? Be honest. Be open. And most importantly — be available. Let Him show you what's next. Let this episode stir your faith, confront your comfort, and inspire you to become who He's building you to be. Subscribe for content that inspires, motivates and empowers you. Is God tearing down everything you thought was solid? Good. He's getting ready to rebuild it even stronger. In this milestone episode, I'm sharing what it really looks like when God starts rebuilding things inside of you—on purpose, in purpose, and with purpose. Whether it's your faith, your identity, your dreams, or your resilience, God is laying a new foundation, and it's stronger than ever. I'll also share the Eat Don't Compete story, a powerful quote from J.K. Rowling, and a timely reminder from Psalm 139:23–24 (David's prayer). No matter how uncomfortable or unexpected the process may feel, I'm challenging you to find comfort in growing in community, be more resilient and ultimately stay with God through it all. This one's for you if: You feel like God is rebuilding you! You're called to rebuild something for others!! You're the resilient woman who knows it's time to get back up!!! We don't talk enough about the process we all must go through as we journey from where we are to where we want to be. We either talk about how we start or brag about how we end, leaving our journey to be this mystery that everyone around us must figure out. “Just because you knew me doesn't mean you know me” Jazmine DeWees Welcome Back to another episode of Eat w/ Her Don't Compete w/ Her Podcast Show & this is your host Jazz. In today's episode, we will be discussing how to and the importance of giving folks the opportunity to grow. We can form so many opinions from the unchecked facts of yester-years but the reality of most situations is that just because you knew a person doesn't mean you know them. How often does the drama of your youth taint the promise of your adult life? I see all too often how family and friends live off of the understanding of who someone was without giving that family member or friend the opportunity to grow, or even recognizing that they have grown. “Today, I am not who you think I am; I am not who I think I am; I am who I think you think I am” Charles Horton Cooley Welcome Back to another episode of Eat w/ Her Don't Compete w/ Her Podcast Show & this is your host Jazz. In today's episode, we will be discussing insecurities, specifically perception. Perception is the acceptance we think we need from the outside world or even the validation we are looking for from within. How much time are you investing in your persona, reputation, and the way others view you? If happiness is an inside job, why do we work so hard to get the attention of others? How much are you actually willing to pay to get noticed? How much of our permanent integrity are you willing to bargain for just 15 minutes of fame? We see this all too often in our society, so I thought this would be the perfect way to close out our Insecurity series. I believe it's time that we address dysfunctional societal norms, like this one.
“Insecurity is not a female trait. Insecurity is a human trait that does not discriminate.” Jazmine DeWees Welcome to another episode of Eat w/ Her Don't Compete w/ Her Podcast Show & I am your host Jazz. Today's episode is part II of my series on Insecurities. In a world filled with toxic masculinity, fueled by a generation that indicates you are either too feminine or too masculine, my question is… what is a man to do? No matter what kind of man you identify as, you've faced, will face or are currently facing insecurities. It's inevitable. Is it hard for you to admit to yourself that you are insecure about something because you did not grow up using that language to express yourself? Are your insecurities driven by the feelings you never get to express? Do you define your manhood by financial securities, emotional ignorance, or even societal pressures? “Secure in your insecurities, knowing insecurities won't ever leave.” Prentice Penny Welcome Back to another episode of Eat w/ Her Don't Compete w/ Her Podcast Show & this is your host Jazz. In today's episode, we will be discussing insecurities. Does you lack of confidence indicate that you are in some way inferior to your self-reliant companion? Do your insecurities cause you to act out in an unhealthy way? Does your focus on these insufficiencies help or hurt your ability to cope with anxiety, apprehensiveness, uncertainties, and feelings of self-doubt? Are you more insecure because you deal with your insecurities privately? Are they more secure because they cope with insecurities publicly? To be insecure is to not have the confidence or to be uncertain, beset by fear and anxiety. What are your insecurities and how do you deal with them?
“You can either protect your name or protect your peace.” Morray Welcome Back to another episode of Eat w/ Her Don't Compete w/ Her Podcast Show & this is your host Jazz. In today's episode I will be speaking to you about peace. Have you ever debated the idea of standing up for your good name? In the wake of doing so, you know that you would most definitely ruffle some feathers but the feather that matters the most is yours. Does standing up for your name come at the cost of others' peace? Does standing up for your name come at the cost of your own peace? What cost are you willing to pay for your name? What cost are you willing to pay for your peace?
“You can't rush something you want to last forever.” Author Unknown Welcome Back to another episode of Eat w/ Her Don't Compete w/ Her Podcast Show & this is your host Jazz. “Blackness will never be enough,” said society. Today's episode is a continuation of last week's episode [For the Culture Series - Black Music month PART I], featuring cultural conversationalist Ms. Angelica Smith. Angelica is a music artist and podcaster herself. She has that "it" factor that lets you know she is culturally relevant and sound minded. We had so much fun with this conversation that it lasted way past our normal time. What can I say, the convo got good. At this point in the conversation we spoke about blackness being this complex thing that is mostly misunderstood and often interpreted by "others" and had to question if we are okay with that. What does music do for you? How do you connect it to your culture? Your blackness? Do not miss out on hearing about how the black culture is made up of so many individually beautiful ingredients that collectively come together to form an amazing pot of gumbo and this gumbo is called "Blackness". “The radio is just a stereo like a house ain't a home.” Jay Electronica In today's show I started another series, I hope you guys aren't tried of me ... not yet? Cool. Today I set down with a cultural conversationalist Ms. Angelica Smith. Angelica is a music artist and podcaster herself. She has that "it" factor that lets you know she is culturally relevant and sound minded. I wanted to talk about culture, so reaching out to Jellie was a no brainer. Fun fact, we've literally never met. That is a true testament to the beauty and familiarity that culture brings to the black community. This episode is a conversation, specifically on the cultural component of Black Music, in celebration of black music month. Without giving away the entire episode, I will say that I think you would particularly enjoy how Angelica shares with us what separates our culture as black peoplke from other cultures. I know you will enjoy her take on what music does for us emotionally. She has a way of understanding where we were, while relating it to where we are and having hope for where we want to go. Lean in, this is not an episode you want to miss. This is a conversation you want to hear. Do not miss out on hearing about how the black culture is made up of so many individually beautiful ingredients that collectively come together to form an amazing pot of gumbo and this gumbo is called "Blackness". It's a celebration, so stay tuned for part II where Jellie shares her call to action with you. Part II - Monday, June 14, 2021 "Music holds me." Four incredible millennial mother’s spoke about motherhood, wanting and raising children and their own childhood experiences. We are not only talking about being mothers, we also discussed our own mothers and what we perceived their journeys to be. We also discussed the correlation between who our mothers were to us and who we wanted for our children. It will inspire you to hear about the kind of mother Shakera grew up with, you can see how the ideal black woman shaped Shakera into the ideal black woman. Claudia reflects the reality that many millennial women are facing in the 2021 workforce. It’s a challenge but she finds solicit in knowing that she is not the only one dealing with this challenge and that it’s the “new norm”. Ashley explains to us the power of submission and how the mirroring ideals of what she believed was her mother’s weakness was actually what shaped Ashley and built her strength. You guys must have to wait and hear how Phiara explains to us the cultural explanation and connection between the woman she became her own idea or realization of blackness. “Wealth is the ability to fully experience life.” Henry David Thoreau In today's episode, I had the opportunity to interview another guest to conclude my Women's History Month series BECOMING: A Woman in History. I invited Arlene J. Lester to our show to discuss wealth and worth. Arlene is a Public Relations specialist and an author, just to name a few of the many hats she wears. In today's discussion Arlene walks us through how she arrived at this point in both her career and life's journey. We speak about how and when she became a woman, how "becoming" has played a role in her life, what wealth and worth means to her and how she attains it on her own terms and ultimately what's next. It was awesome to hear the humility attached to the wisdom that she possesses, without the arrogance her wealth of knowledge can easily be associated with. Listen until the end to hear her powerful CTA, as she challenges us to move from good to great. "Faith is the substance of things hoped for, yet the evidence of things unseen." Hebrews 11:1 In today's episode, I had the opportunity to interview another guest which was the start of my series BECOMING: A Woman in History. To start this series, I invited Mrs. Deidre Williams Pittman to our show to discuss Keeping Faith in a Faithless Industry. Deidre is a Faith Empowerment Coach and a Marketplace Strategist. Deidre is impactful in how she discusses her journey with us, telling us all about how she learned about what faith truly is, how she used those pivotal moments in her life to thrust her directly into God's arms, in an effort for him to direct her path. And what a road she has traveled. She emphasizes how it was important for her to understand her walk with God as it coincided with her understanding of what womanhood is. In "becoming" she realizes that she is still evolving into who God wants her to be. If you want to learn more about how to keep the faith in a faithless industry, tune in now! "Just because something is not perfect does not make it any less worthy of love." - Daphne Bridgerton Do you watch Bridgerton? #Bridgerton is a popular #Netflix show that is essentially about love and everything that reflects that time period, because it is a time period piece. @LegallyBlack of @TheyDidntTellYou literally came to the show to kiki w/ your girl. Don't get me wrong, she most definitely dropped that good wisdom she always carries with her. We took a small piece of the show, specifically a line from the show and dissected it to arrive at an answer to "can love change everything?" This is not an interview, this is not a serious conversation of any kind. This is a good time talking about love. Happy Valentine's Day!!! Don't forget to check out @legallyblack weekly on @theydidnttellyou. Every episode is a dope concept about all those things folk never told you but we all wanted to know. "Weak people get revenge, strong people forgive, and intelligent people ignore. " - Albert Einstein In today's discussion, we address taking the high road in situations that we would like to be petty in. Have you found that choosing your battles is harder in some situations then others? What is your mindset concerning being mature in an immature world? Is taking the high road exclusive to not internalizing the details of the situation? We discuss what's worth ignoring and what's worth discussing, acknowledging that there are situations and predicaments that do not deserve our attention and energy.
