In this second installment of our Spiritual Architecture series, we're diving into a powerful truth: salvation isn't the end goal—it's just the beginning. Too often we treat the moment of salvation as a finish line, when in reality, it's one of the first bricks in the foundation God lays for a life of deep transformation, intimacy, and Kingdom purpose. Throughout this series we will cover: Spiritual Architecture Salvation Identity Intimacy Repentance Discipleship Truth Sanctification My story/My testimony In this episode, I'm sharing my own reflections on what I believe it means to walk out our souls salvation continuously, in response to Jesus' sacrifice for our sins. I reflect on foundational [biblical truths] and some fundamentals of salvation. We reflect on the impact of God's love mentioned in John 3:16. It's my prayer that you expand on this list and add to it. Comment below and let me know of some fundamentals of the way you live out your salvation? Reflection Question: Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior? Challenge: How have you taken your salvation for granted? This week, take time to sit with that question in prayer. Ask God to show you where He wants to take you deeper, and recommit to growing beyond the basics of your faith. Subscribe for content that inspires, motivates and empowers you. Hey Family Brand! It's Melissa here, and today, I'm bringing you a different kind of episode—one that I wasn't expecting to record, but I know it's exactly the conversation I need to have right now. My word for the year is ‘maker,' and while I've spent time thinking about all the ways I want to create—being a homemaker, a moneymaker, a creator—it never occurred to me to focus on being a peacemaker. That changed recently when our family was asked to speak in church, and I was assigned Matthew 5:9: ‘Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God.' That moment set me on a journey to rethink what it really means to make peace—not just between people, but inside ourselves. When I first thought about peacemaking, I imagined it in the traditional sense—helping my kids resolve arguments, keeping peace in relationships, and fostering harmony within my family. But as I reflected more, I realized that being a peacemaker starts internally. How do we create peace within ourselves so that we have peace to give? It's easy to think of peace as something external, but when we aren't centered, it's hard to extend calm to others. One of the biggest takeaways from this reflection was learning how to recognize and manage my own emotional state. I shared a tool from a past podcast episode with parenting coach Crystal Heitzma, who teaches about recognizing when we are in our "green zone" (calm and regulated), "yellow zone" (feeling dysregulated), or "red zone" (fully overwhelmed). Learning to catch ourselves in that yellow zone before we spiral is a game-changer in protecting our peace. I've taught this to my kids, and it's been powerful for all of us. I also talk about the mental chatter that often steals our peace—self-doubt, parenting guilt, or insecurities that creep in daily. When we get intentional about quieting those voices and replacing them with truth, we reclaim our inner peace. For me, faith is a huge part of that. I find peace in Christ, and reminding myself of who I am in His eyes helps me stay grounded. Our family also uses personal declarations—statements of who we are and who we are becoming—which are so powerful in silencing negativity. So here's my challenge to you: Take a moment this week to ask yourself, How can I create more peace in my life? Whether it's in your emotions, your thoughts, or your relationships, being a peacemaker starts within. And when we cultivate peace inside, it naturally flows into the lives of those around us. We're wrapping up our series on Dr. Chapman's 5 Love Languages with a couple more I've developed over my 30+ years working with couples—challenge and presentation! 1. Challenge: How we challenge each other in a committed romantic relationship—to be the best version of ourselves, in relationships, career, family, and faith—is critical mortar solidifying or weakening, your love language wall. Research shows one of the main reasons marriages break down is boredom! But couples who commit to challenging one another via encouragement and exhortation toward growth and development, strengthen their intimacy and keep their connection exciting! 2. Presentation: How we present our partner to others displays how we view him/her. Furthermore, when we're married, our spouse is a representation of us at all times. How partners present each other to family, friends, and community is another enormously important language that allows the other five love languages to thrive or be denied. It can be challenging to remember what it feels like to be full of magick and creativity when the start of the new year has worn off. Since our Gregorian calendar begins as the winter season, is getting started, we are forced to battle the urge between staying bundled up in our cocoon and planning our entire year with goals and massive steps forward. After a few weeks of balancing the two, we can easily give up and fall back in our "rut". However, there is another option that Tara and Alyssa talk about in this episode. Welcome to The Nonlinear Library, where we use Text-to-Speech software to convert the best writing from the Rationalist and EA communities into audio. This is: Grouped Loss may disfavor discontinuous capabilities, published by Adam Jermyn on July 9, 2022 on The AI Alignment Forum. Thanks to Evan Hubinger and Beth Barnes for comments on these ideas. Language models exhibit scaling laws, where the loss is a power-law in model size. This offers a lot of predictive power, and seems like a useful thing to know. By contrast, individual capabilities can exhibit sharp discontinuities in performance as a function of model size and training time. It would be great if individual capabilities just gradually improved like the broader loss. Then we wouldn't have to worry quite so much about surprising new capabilities emerging suddenly during training. Is there a way to change the loss function so that it incentivizes more gradually capability improvements? Grouped Loss Imagine grouping training examples by the kind of capability they exhibit. For instance arithmetic problems go in one group, “parse json” could go in another, and so on. With these groups, we could define a new loss function where ℓ is the loss function we originally used (e.g. cross-entropy loss) and ℓg means to compute the sum of ℓ over examples from group g, e.g. which may be estimated by using random examples drawn from g. Because we have squared the group losses, the overall loss is dominated by the worst group. As a result, the model is incentivized to develop capabilities in each group at comparable rates, and so has little incentive to e.g. finely hone its poetry skills while being unable to multiply numbers. Challenge: Defining Groups It's possible that using grouped loss results in smooth development of capabilities that aren't represented in the groups. For instance, it seems plausible that if “adding arabic numerals” and “translating words into arabic numerals” are two groups but “adding numbers written as words” is not, performance on the latter could nonetheless develop smoothly as the model gets better at the others. It would certainly be weird if performance ”adding numbers written as words” advanced as a sudden leap in this case. This points to a general problem though, which is that if we have to define the groups manually we have to foresee the capabilities we're worried about. That seems bad. Gradient Cluster Grouping If we could automatically group examples we wouldn't need to do it manually. How could we do this? I think the key feature of a group is that when the model updates, the loss of most examples in a group changes in a similar way. When that happens, it seems intuitive to say that there's a discrete capability somewhere in the model and that those examples all depend on it. This suggests looking for examples where the loss has similar gradients, because these probably make use of similar machinery in the model. Concretely, I'm imagining the following procedure: Draw N examples from the training set. Evaluate the gradient of ℓ for each example. Group the examples by clustering their gradients, evaluate the grouped loss, and perform gradient descent on that. As a technical note: In this approach, the grouped loss is a moving target. As the model learns and capabilities form the groups shift. This means that SGD is no longer minimizing a constant loss. I don't think that's a problem, in part because all versions of the loss agree when the model has reached zero-loss, so the different iterations of the loss function all point towards better capabilities. Challenge: How many groups? I don't know of a principled way to pick the number of groups to cluster examples into, and that seems like a problem. Guessing too many groups loses the advantage of grouping because each group reflects an extremely narrow task. Guessing too few groups also loses the advantage of grouping, because then the capabilities that show gradual improvements will be very broa...

From mincha time on, he should bring his things down (the sukkah was always on the roof) in honor of the Yom Tov of Shemini Atzeres. Gemara: Question: What if he doesn't have anything to bring down? Challenge: How did he eat there for seven days if he doesn't have anything there? Resolution: The question was: What if he doesn't have a home to bring things into [and staying in the sukkah in Eretz Yisroel may be a problem of Bal Tosif]? Rabbi Chiya bar Ashi: He can break open 4x4 tefachim of schach*. Rabbi Yehoshua ben Levi: He can light a lamp there. These two opinions are in agreement with each other, only that Rabbi Yehoshua ben Levi is in Eretz Yisroel where the sukkah is no longer needed and Rabbi Chiya bar Ashi is in Bavel. Challenge: A lamp in the sukkah signifies that one no longer cares for the sukkah in a small sukkah, but in a large sukkah where one is not afraid that it will burn down, one can bring in a lamp even on Yom Tov? Resolution: In a large sukkah he can bring the pots and pans into the sukkah as taught by Rava (24.1): Drinking vessels may remain in the sukkah but eating vessels should remain outside of the sukkah. _________ * Rashash: Although airspace of 3 tefachim invalidates the sukkah, here this person might cover the hole with something, thus the hole must be 4 tefachim.

It must be taken on its own, not with the lulav. One cannot fulfill his obligation with the Aravah that's bound in the lulav. Summary Chizkiyah quoting Rabbi Yirmiyah from Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai: I have seen the Bnei Aliyah and they're few. If they number a thousand, my son and I are among them. If they number a hundred, my son and I are among them. If there are only two, it's my son and me. Challenge: Are the tzaddikim so few? Rava: There are 18,000 generations [or rows] of tzaddikim before Hakadosh Baruch Hu, as it states “Eighteen thousand surround him” Resolution: There are many tzaddikim who can see Hashem with a lamp but there are few who can see Him with an illuminated lamp. Challenge: Are the tzaddikim who see Hashem with an illuminated lamp so few? Abayye: The world will always have at least 36 tzaddikim [who pray properly and] greet the shechina each day as it states “Praiseworthy is he who hopes to Him” ‘Him' is gematriya 36. Resolution: There are many who enter with permission but there are few who can enter without permission. We learned in the mishna (35.6): When they finished the mitzvah they would say “Beauty belongs to you, mizbeach” Rabbi Eliezer: “Beauty belongs to Kah, and to you, mizbeach”. Challenge: How can Rabbi Eliezer put something else on the same level as Hashem? Beraisa: Anyone who combines Hashem and something else is uprooted from the world, as it states: “Only for Hashem alone”. Resolution: It means: “We thank You Kah, and we praise you, mizbeach”. We learned in the mishna (35.6): Rabbi Yochanan ben Berokah: They would bring branches of a palm tree, lulavim, and strike it on the ground beside the mizbeach. That day was called “Chibut Chariyos” [striking of the palm branches]. Rav Huna: This is because Kapos is plural (26.2), one for the lulav and one for the mizbeach.* The Chachomim maintain that it is written in the singular form, Kapas. Rabbi Levi: The lulav is taken because it represents the praise of the Am Yisroel: Just as a palm tree has only one “heart” in the center of its trunk and not in all its branches, so too the Am Yisroel only have one interest; their father in Heaven. We do not seek entertainment, arts and war, our sole interest is Hakadosh Baruch Hu. Click here to listen to the shiur with Tosfos https://drive.google.com/file/d/1g8QZ69f8xSKe8ZbUxda-K7aFoX1Mau9y/view?usp=sharing * Tosfos: We see from here that according to Rabbi Yochanan ben Brokah there was no Aravah taken in the Beis Hamikdash at all. He learns from “Kapos - Plural” just as we learned (27.4) that “Arvei - Plural” teaches the two mitzvos of Aravah. Tosfos does not remain with this pshat.

Summary Rav Chisda quoting Rav Yitzchok: One can fulfill his obligation with the aravah in the lulav [it is not clear if he means “by picking up the lulav”, or “by picking up the lulav a second time with a different intent”, since the halacha doesn't follow this opinion, we do not have a clear answer]. Question: What is the measure? Rav Nachman: Three stems of fresh leaves. Rav Sheishes: Even one leaf and one stem. Challenge: How can that be kosher? Resolution: One leaf on one stem. [ Rashi: We're discussing here the aravah used in the Beis Hamikdash, because the aravah in the lulav, we learned above must be 3 tefachim high. But the Poskim say that this kulah applies also to the aravah of the lulav]. Ayvo [the father of Rav]: I was standing in front of Rabbi Elazar bar Tzadok [he was an old man who had still been in the Beis Hamikdash] and someone brought him an aravah, he shook it but didn't make a bracha [there's a question on how to fulfill this minhag, according to Rashi it is merely waved, according to others you hit the ground with it, according to others some of the leaves should be knocked off].

Today's learning sponsored by Daily Tehillim An inspirational possuk every day by SMS/text with English translation (Starting after Shavuos) Text 'Join' to 833-244-6181 Sponsor a day's learning (thousands of minutes!) for only $72 click here https://www.flipcause.com/secure/cause_pdetails/ODUwOTU= We learned in the mishna (26.4): If he reduces the amount of berries, it is kosher. There are two components to the concept of dichui in korbanos which the gemara seeks to apply to all mitzvos: A. Dichui mei'ikara - Something that was never acceptable for the mitzvah; and is now seeking to be accepted. B. Nireh v'nidcheh - Something that was at first acceptable, then experienced dichui; and is now again seeking to be accepted. The gemara sought to prove from this part of the mishna that at least “Dichui A” does not apply to mitzvos. The gemara explained that this part of the mishna is no proof since it is not yet Yom Tov and the mitzvah is not yet extant to be nidcheh. Summary We learned in the mishna (26.4): If he reduces the amount of berries, it is kosher. It is forbidden to remove the berries on Yom Tov. Question: What if he did remove the berries on Yom Tov? It seems that the hadas would be kosher. That can only be if we say that dichui does not apply to mitzvos: If the berries become black (to disqualify the hadas, 27.2) before Yom Tov came in [thus a case of dichui mei'ikara], we can learn from this mishna that dichui mei'ikara does not apply to mitzvos. (But it seems from 27.2 that our mishna cannot be a proof to the question of dichui mei'ikara). If they become black on Yom Tov [thus a case of nireh v'nidcheh], we can learn from this mishna that even nireh v'nidcheh does not apply to mitzvos. Response: Indeed, we can learn from here that dichui mei'ikara does not apply to mitzvos but we have no proof regarding nireh v'nidcheh. Beraisa: It is forbidden to remove the berries on Yom Tov. Rabbi Eliezer b'Rabbi Shimon: It is permissible. Challenge: How can it be permissible to remove the berries on Yom Tov? He is ‘fixing' the hadas! Rav Ashi: This is a case where he removes the berries in order to eat them, Rabbi Eliezer follows the opinion of his father that “an unintended act is permissible”. [Since he didn't intend to fix the hadas, he didn't transgress anything by doing so]. Challenge: But Abayye and Rava both said that Rabbi Shimon agrees in a case of “chopping off a head without causing death” [when the consequence of an act is unavoidable, it is not permissible just because it was unintended]. Rav Ashi: This is a case where he has another hadas [he thus does not need the melacha, placing this in the category of melacha she'eina tzricha l'gufah which Rabbi Shimon is lenient with. Although even Rabbi Shimon doesn't generally permit melacha she'eina tzricha l'gufah, here it is permitted because its a mitzvah. Tosfos). Beraisa: If the bundle of the lulav set came apart on Yom Tov when tying is forbidden, it may be bound like a vegetable bundle (it is wrapped rather than tied). Challenge: Let him make a bow? (Like we do for gelilah on Shabbos, we actually make a bow all week because according to some, it would be forbidden to untie on Shabbos otherwise). Resolution: This follows the opinion of Rabbi Yehuda who includes making bows in the prohibition of tying. Challenge: But Rabbi Yehuda holds lulav tzarich agad (10.1) - that it is a Torah requirement to bind the lulav, thus he certainly requires a proper knot? Resolution: The beraisa only agrees with the first position of Rabbi Yehuda [regarding making a bow] but not with the second [regarding agad].

Most of us think that love is all you need. Yet there is truth beyond love. Actions speak louder than words. The depth of love is much greater than what our minds perceive. We can say we love, yet show it much differently. Truth beyond love. Desire to be supported and encourage by other like-minded women? Join us at Women of IMPACT. http://bit.ly/WomenofIMPACT Love is defined as an intense feeling of deep affection. Think about those three little words that have a great impact... I love you! There is an intensity in that love. However, there is also truth beyond love. It's what you show on a daily basis. It's how you act out that love where there is truth. (And some would say greater truth.) Truth beyond love shows how you live out your love. The K.I.S.S. ~ Live out your love! Love needs to be expressed in words, especially by you saying, "I love you!" Yet, it's also important to follow up your words with actions. And that requires you to live out your love. How can you live out your love that reinforces the words that you speak, truth beyond love? Actions reflect your love. What you do must match the love you feel. Words reinforce your love. What you say must match the love you feel. Love is not as easy as three words said over and over again. There must be some evidence of the love you speak. This is shown by not only your words, but by your actions. CHALLENGE: How can you show your love? What will that truth beyond love show? Quite frequently, as I invite people to church, I hear people say, “I'm not religious, I'm spiritual.” I've never really heard anyone give a good definition for what it means to be spiritual. But what I think these people are trying to express is that they are on a search for spiritual things. There is a spiritual hunger they are trying to fill. For 2,000 years people have been expressing their opinions about who Jesus was, and what he came to accomplish. Listen carefully to what Jesus said about himself. In John 6 Jesus reveal s that “He is the bread of life.” Jesus is the source of absolute satisfaction. If you “eat” of his bread, you will never be hungry. In John 6:35 - “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry.”Jesus is the master of teachable moments. The day before Jesus spoke these words about being the bread of life, he had fed over 5,000 people miraculously with five loaves of bread and two fish. The next day the crowd is looking for Jesus. The people wanted Jesus, but not for the right reasons. They were looking for another free lunch. Jesus uses this stetting to try to teach them about something more important than lunch.Jesus identifies one of our biggest problems: Hunger. We all know what it feels like to be physically hungry. But our hunger in life is much deeper than our need for the next meal. Our greatest hunger is spiritual. This hunger is what drives all of life. It impacts our search, our ambition, our goals, and our direction in life. We will do just about anything in our search to satisfy this hunger, and it gets us into a lot of trouble.John 6:27 - Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you.In other words, most of our pursuits in life are for things that are temporary. It's like food. All food has an expiration date. It's only good for a little while. Jesus is saying instead of putting all your focus and energy into the search for temporary fulfillment, and temporary satisfaction, we should focus on the food that endures. What Jesus communicated to the crowd was that he does not give the bread of life. He is the bread of life. He is what completely satisfies us.Jesus came to meet a need in our lives that we cannot meet ourselves. We must see that only Jesus can completely satisfy our spiritual hunger.Travel to almost any country and sit in any restaurant and they'll serve you bread. Bread is a staple. It the poor have nothing, they have bread. If the rich have everything, they have bread. Bread is not a regional food nor a national dish. No country claims to be the exclusive source of bread. It may be in the form of a tortilla in Mexico (my favorite) or a bagel in New York City, but bread is available everywhere. So is Jesus. Jesus is available to satisfy. No matter who you are, where you are from, where you have been, or what you have done, Jesus is available to you. He longs to have a relationship with you. He desires to satisfy your life with a new life that is only found in Him.Jesus can only be the bread of life for you if you receive him. I can be starving and walk down the bread aisle at the grocery store, but that doesn't satisfy. There are people who know about Jesus, but they haven't received Jesus as savior and Lord.Today's Challenge: How do we receive this bread that completely satisfies? It comes through faith. We must believe. We experience the grace of God as we believe that Jesus is God and that he paid the penalty for our sins on the cross. We do this as we receive him as our savior and Lord.
Today's learning sponsored Sponsor a day's learning (thousands of minutes!) for only $72 click here https://www.flipcause.com/secure/cause_pdetails/ODUwOTU Rabbi Meir: Ana animal cannot be used as a sukkah wall. Rabbi Yehuda: It may be used. Rabbi Meir's reasoning: Abayye: The animal might die. Rabbi Zeira: The animal might escape. Summary Everyone agrees that a tied elephant would make a valid wall [even according to Rabbi Meir]. Even if it dies, the mound of flesh would be higher than 10 tefachim and since it is tied it cannot escape. They argue regarding a loose elephant: According to Abayye, even if it dies, since it's an elephant it would remain a valid wall. According to Rabbi Zeira, since it is untied, we're concerned it may escape. Challenge: Why wouldn't Abayye be concerned that it may escape? Resolution: Everyone agrees that a loose elephant would not make a valid wall since it may escape. They argue regarding a small tied animal [not an elephant]: According to Abayye, we're concerned that it may die. According to Rabbi Zeira, since it is tied, we're not concerned it may escape. Challenge: Why wouldn't Rabbi Zeira be concerned that it may die? Resolution: It is uncommon for an animal to die. Challenge: How can an animal be used as a wall? What about the space under its stomach? Resolution: It is filled with a mat of sticks and branches. Challenge: Perhaps the animal will lie down? Resolution: The animal is held up with ropes. Challenge: If it held up with ropes, why is Abayye concerned it will die? It will still be held up! Resolution: It may be held up just within 3 tefachim of the schach. When it dies it may slouch imperceptibly and it will no longer be lavud with the schach. According to Rabbi Yehuda, one may use an animal as a sukkah wall. According to Rabbi Meir, one may not. Abayye explains the reasoning of Rabbi Meir: since the animal might die. Apparently then, according to Abayye, Rabbi Yehuda is not concerned that the animal may die. Challenge: Is Abayye's opinion that Rabbi Meir is “concerned about death” and Rabbi Yehuda is “not concerned about death”? We learned in a mishna: A woman who was married to a kohen may eat terumah even if his whereabouts are unknown; we assume he's alive. We learned in a beraisa: The wife of a kohen who stipulates “This get shall be valid a moment before I die”, is immediately forbidden from partaking in terumah. Abayye: The mishna follows Rabbi Meir who is “not concerned about death” and the beraisa follows Rabbi Yehuda who is “concerned about death” — as we learn in a beraisa: “Rabbi Meir: If one bought [a hundred log of] wine from Kusim [who are not trusted with regard to terumos and maasros and they must be separated. But since it is almost Shabbos, there is no time to do so], he may say 2 log (1/50) that I will separate [after shabbos] are terumah. 10 are maaser rishon (1/10). 9 are maaser sheini (1/9. These numbers aren't precise since after terumah was taken there is only 98 log left)_l which can be redeemed immediately. He can now drink the wine _[following the principle of ‘yesh breirah' a portion of the remaining wine will retroactively be established as the terumos and maasros]. Rabbi Yehuda, Rabbi Yosi and Rabbi Shimon: do not allow this.” Rabbi Yehuda, Rabbi Yosi and Rabbi Shimon are of the opinion that the keg of wine may break [Rabbi Yehuda is “concerned about death”]. Rabbi Meir is not concerned that the keg will break [Rabbi Meir is “not concerned about death”].

Ulla: It refers to schach that sticks out behind the sukkah. Rabbah and Rav Yosef both said: It refers to schach that projects in front of the sukkah. Rabbah bar bar Chana quoting Rabbi Yochanan: It refers to a sukkah that is mostly properly shaded, but a small area has ‘more sunshine than shade'. Summary Rabbi Oshaya: It refers to a small sukkah [precisely 7x7 tefachim] in which less than 3 tefachim are covered with possul schach. (Here ‘psal' means possul schach). Extends ‘outside of the sukkah' means that it “goes out” from the status of kosher schach. Rav Hoshaya: Airspace is worse than possul schach (14.6) but even airspace of less than 3 tefachim does not invalidate such a sukkah. [So the law of the beraisa is superfluous]. Rabbi Abba: Possul schach less than 3 tefachim is considered schach: It is counted as part of 7 tefachim and one may sleep underneath it. Airspace is not considered schach. Although it is counted as part of 7 tefachim, one may not sleep underneath it. Challenge: How can airspace be counted as part of the sukkah while one cannot sit underneath it? Is there any other case similar to this? Rabbi Yitzchok ben Elyashiv: There is. Mud that is soft enough to pour. It can be counted towards 40 seah to make a mikvah kosher, but one cannot immerse in that part of the water.

Today's learning sponsored by Sponsor a day's learning (thousands of minutes!) for only $72 click here Rabbi Yosi holds that a mechitza teluyah is a valid wall for Sukkah. Rabbi Yehuda in eiruvin holds that a mechitza teluyah is valid for separating courtyards. Summary Rabbah bar bar Chana quoting Rabbi Yochanan: Rabbi Yehuda is following the opinion of Rabbi Yosi. But it's not so. Rabbi Yehuda doesn't necessarily agree with Rabbi Yosi. Rabbi Yosi doesn't necessarily agree with Rabbi Yehuda. Rabbi Yehuda teaches that a mechitza teluyah is valid with regard to an eiruv between two courtyards which is a d'rabbanan. He wouldn't hold this way regarding sukkah which is a d'orayso. Rabbi Yosi teaches that a mechitza teluyah is valid with regard to sukkah which is a mitzvas asei (there's no punishment for neglecting it). He wouldn't hold this way regarding Shabbos which is a question of skilah. Challenge: Wasn't a mechitza teluyah used in Tzipori once on Shabbos? (Tzipori was Rabbi Yosi's city. So we see that Rabbi Yosi held that a mechitza teluyah is valid even on Shabbos). Resolution: That story occurred when Tzipori was under the leadership of Rabbi Yishmael B'rebbi Yosi. The story in Tzipori: When Rav Dimi came from Eretz Yisroel (see 10.2), he brought a report: They once forgot to bring the sefer Torah to the Beis Haknesses before Shabbos, so they spread out curtains on poles to create a new reshus, and they brought the sefer. Challenge: How did they bring the sheets on Shabbos if they couldn't carry?! Resolution: The sheets had been hanging from before Shabbos. (But they were a mechitza teluyah).
Hello Loves, and welcome back! Today we have a talented fashionista and lovely mother of two Ali Levine. In today's episode, Ali will take us back to her 7-year-old self and explain how her grandmother influenced her with her fashion and vibrant living in the "Now" lifestyle. We will discover how spending time with her grandmother as often as she could growing up significantly impacted who she is today. 7 year old Ali had that fashionista spark inside her. Her visiting her grandmother fed that which guided her to her career. When we are young, we have so many dreams and visions for what we want our future to be, and as we grow up, society distracts us, and as mothers, so many of us are conditioned out of it making it hard to find that little 7 years old you have hidden inside. While most of us may share common goals, skills, and dreams your zone can not be recreated by anyone else but you. Living in zone is reflected by what is alive inside us and us only. So I invite you to look at what you loved when you were young.Find Ali Levine Here:Website: https://alilevine.com/Instagram: alilevinedesignFacebook: AliLevineDesignPodcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/stripdt-down-with-ali-levine/id1464605227Ali's Challenge:How can you look at yourself and see your own power?Journal it down and write the things that tie you back to you.Follow the Dreamboard Social Club:https://tanyasaunders.comhttps://instagram.com/tanya_saundershttps://instagram.com/pausebreathwork?igshid=1ile8vcwf0l8yStart Vibing Highhttps://www.tanyasaunders.com/selfguidedMaster your self-care practice:https://www.tanyasaunders.com/selfcareritualsGet on the Waitlist for my New Course Life by Design not Default https://www.tanyasaunders.com/designlabwl Support the show (https://www.thefelixorganization.org/donate)Support the show (https://www.thefelixorganization.org/donate)
Can you imagine a soldier in Bible times carefully putting on each piece of armor to protect himself and then going into battle without a weapon? That would be suicidal! While David could go up against Goliath without wearing Saul's armor, he had to take his weapon! While the other pieces of armor were necessary to protect the soldier from the enemy's attacks, they could not kill the enemy. Only the sword could do that. The soldier without a sword wouldn't last a minute if the enemy got close enough for hand to hand combat. In Ephesians chapter six, the Apostle Paul informs us that we are in a spiritual battle. He says in verses 10-12: “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”What's critical is that you and I are prepared for spiritual battles. We need armor. Paul continues in Ephesians 6 verse 13: “Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”Paul talks about the various pieces of battle field armor God gives us. But there is one piece of equipment that is absolutely essential to winning spiritual battles. In fact, unless you use this piece of equipment you will not be victorious in your life. You will not be able to resist temptation. You will not be able to rise above discouragement. Without this equipment you will sink into defeat, which is right where Satan wants you to be. What is this equipment? Paul called it the “sword of the spirit.” Which is the Word of God. The Bible. God's Word is our only offensive weapon. I must become skillful in my ability to use this sword in spiritual battles. How is God's Word a weapon for fighting spiritual battles? The Roman soldier's sword was about two feet long and it was designed to be used in hand-to-hand combat. It had to be easily accessible and ready to use, plus the soldier had to train to become skillful and proficient in using it. The sword was the only strategic weapon that could be used when the enemy was close, so these soldiers spent hours with it in their hands. They were familiar with it. They worked on their tactical ability to use the sword. It became second nature. If we are not familiar with the Word, if we haven't prepared, if we haven't trained, we shouldn't be surprised that we were not victorious in the spiritual battle. The Bible is your sword. Use it and you can fight against the forces of evil. When we rely on what the Bible says, we are not standing in our own strength, but in His. We are not relying on our own wisdom, but on God's.Today's Challenge: How do we use God's Word as an effective weapon in spiritual warfare? It must become a part of our daily lives. It is our daily bread. We must hear it, read it, study it, memorize it, meditate on it, and obey it.

The lifetime commitment to have and to hold from this day forward is a vow of unending love. However, how much of this vow stays true when life isn't always what's expected? It's easy to get wrapped up in what the world says is right. Can you even remember the vows in your wedding? Desire to be supported and encourage by other like-minded women? Join us at Women of IMPACT. http://bit.ly/WomenofIMPACT Some people write theirs, others use a more traditional approach. Yesterday, I was quickly reminded of that pure bliss while sitting in the DMV of all places. Time to get a driver's permit for our youngest and an intermediate license for our next to youngest. The sweet couple had "young love" written all over their faces. The groom said with a great big grin, "Today, you get to change your name officially." The bride so giddy couldn't help but lean in for a kiss as she tucked away the paperwork showing their marriage. The whole time together, their focus was on each other. Much was going on around them, but they did not get distracted. Their eyes and conversation were held close to each others' hearts. In those minutes of watching "young love" blossom before me, I was quickly reminded how fragile our relationships are. At one minute we are consumed with all of our love. But the next, can lead us down the path of distraction or disappointment. Most of which is the difference of being wrapped up in the world or wrapped up in each other. If you want your marriage to sizzle for years, you have to wrap yourself up in each other! The K.I.S.S. ~ Wrap yourself in each other! Your eyes can't wonder side to side and be distracted by what the world is offering. When you're together, you need to be together consumed by the love for your spouse. Yet we get super busy, and even in the privacy of our homes, we take our spouse for granted. We assume he/she will be around always. However, if we do not wrap ourselves up in each other, it makes it easier to grow apart as the years pass. So how can you wrap yourself in each other? Keep your love focused. Don't get distracted by the noise of the world. Keep your love fresh. Make time for "just the two of us" Keep your love young. Always learn something new about your spouse at least weekly. To have and to hold from this day forward is a beautiful commitment. And that beautiful commitment requires you to take A.I.M. CHALLENGE: How can you wrap yourself in your spouse? "Live. Love. If you have a success story you would like to share with the Business Boutique community, email me at podcast@businessboutique.com. New podcast episodes are available every other week. Forget about New Year’s resolutions this year. They’re a waste of time. Instead, set smart New Year’s goals you’ll actually accomplish. Believe it or not, they’re not the same thing! The Difference Between New Year’s Resolutions and New Year’s Goals Resolutions might as well be considered a wish. It’s an idea of something you want to try that year. Sure, it’s fun and inspiring. But the truth is: We fall off the wagon by February. It’s the reason why you can’t find an empty treadmill at the gym in January. But by February, you can walk right into the gym and start running. Goals are different from resolutions because goals are action oriented. Zig Ziglar made goal setting popular with something he called the Wheel of Life. We talked about this in a recent podcast episode so if you haven't listened to that already, go back and hear me deep dive into the Wheel of Life in episode 88. To give you a quick recap, there are seven areas in your life you should prioritize and set goals in (especially New Year’s goals!): Career (or business) Finances Spiritual growth Physical health Intellectual growth Family Social Today, I want to help you start 2020 on the right foot by setting New Year’s goals in each of these areas. Because your ability to set goals will completely affect not just how you start the year, but also how you end it. The 3 Qualities You Need to Set Smart New Year’s Goals Every goal you set should have these three qualities: 1. Specific A New Year's resolution like, “I want to run more,” doesn’t work because it’s not specific. And when you’re not specific, you can’t track your progress or even know if you’ve accomplished it or not. For example, if you told me you wanted to run more, I’d ask you, “Well, how? Do you want to do long-distance running? Sprints? Do you want to run on the treadmill or outside? Do you want to do trail runs on your own or join a running group?” There's a lot of different ways for you to run more, so get specific. 2. Measurable Then, I’d tell you to make the goal measurable by asking, “How much more?” Maybe you can run one mile right now without stopping and you'd like to work your way up to running five miles. Or maybe you want to sign up for a race and run a 5K or a half marathon. What is the measurable distance you want to be able to run in order to know that you've actually achieved this goal? 3. Have a time limit Finally, I’d tell you to give your goal a time limit by asking, “By when?” If your goal doesn’t have a time limit, you won’t be able to measure whether you actually reached it or not. Related: How to Write Smart Goals Incorporating those three qualities into your New Year’s goal of running more would turn it into something like: I want to do more long-distance running and complete a half marathon by March 30th. Now, that’s a goal! You’ll know exactly what you're working on and working toward. And of course, because you have these different ways to measure your progress, you’ll know if you achieved it or not, which is great accountability. Set Even Stronger New Year’s Goals Let’s take this one step further. If you really want to accomplish your goals this year, then I want you to add three more qualities to make them even stronger. Make sure they’re: 1. Yours Your goals need to be things you want, otherwise you won’t work hard for them. 2. Realistic There’s a long list of things I could never do no matter how many goals I set. And honestly, the same is true for you. Your goals should push you outside your comfort zone, but they shouldn’t be a pipe dream. Related: Setting Short-Term Goals Based on the Season You’re In 3. In writing There is power in writing things down. When you write down your goals on paper, you can see them, touch them, and feel them. They become tangible and take on a life of their own. Y’all, I hope you’ll consider dropping resolutions this year in favor of strong New Year’s goals. Because goals that are specific, measurable, yours, realistic, in writing, and have a time limit are much more likely to be accomplished than a New Year’s wish. New Year Goal Setting with Rachel Hollis I'm so excited about my guest today, Rachel Hollis! Rachel is a #1 New York Times bestselling author, an unbelievable motivational speaker, the host of the Rise and Rise Together podcasts, and the founder and CCO of The Hollis Company. Oh, and she's also a wife, mom of four, and goal-setting master! On this episode, Rachel and I talk about: Why she wrote her book Girl, Stop Apologizing. The unique way she writes goals to achieve big things. How to stay disciplined and motivated in your humble beginnings. Challenge: How to Love the Enthusiasts in Your Life Years ago, a friend shared something brilliant with me. She told me that most people fall into one of two categories: the wow person and the how person. You know the wow person—you can't miss them! For them, everything is wow! “Wow, I have a great, new idea. Wow, we should totally do that. Wow, let’s take that vacation and leave tonight!” Can you take a wild guess who the wow person is in my marriage? But we can't all be wow people—and that’s for the best. We all need our how people. The how person usually counters the wow person with questions like, “How will this work? How long will this take? How much money will this cost? How would you feel? How will I feel? How will this end? How will we get it done?” We need these people because they make sure things actually happen. While the wow people are busy dreaming and running off cliffs, the how people are asking very good, important questions about time, budget, resources and a path to success. Related: Say What They're Thinking This world is full of both wow people and how people. And as you can imagine, in most marriages, there’s a combination of both—opposites definitely attract. The advice I received that day when I learned about these two types of people was about how the two can work better together. And I’ll tell you, it’s been transformational in my marriage. Here’s how it goes: If you’re the how person and you have a wow person in your life, you’re probably used to the wow person coming home every night with a new idea—because they always do. Am I right? They barge through the door and go on and on about their brilliant, new idea. Typically, the how person will immediately go into their how questions. But today, I want to challenge you to do something different. If you’re the how person, instead of going directly into your questions, don’t ask any how questions for 24 hours. I know. That’ll probably be really hard for you, but it doesn't matter. No how questions for 24 hours! Instead, join them in their wow by responding with enthusiasm like, “Wow, that’s amazing. Wow, that’s interesting. Wow, that's creative.” If, after 24 hours, the wow person in your life is still talking about the same wow idea—which is highly unlikely because by then they’ve usually moved on to 17 different, new, more exciting ideas—only then can you start asking all of your how questions. I know it sounds crazy, but just try it and see how it goes. When I come home, my husband is very tempted to ask me all of his how questions when I have a new idea. But the reality is: I have a new idea every day. Very rarely do I come home and have an idea that I stick with days or weeks later. But if it does stick, then, of course, we can get into the plan and all the practical stuff. But you know what? That’s why both types of people are important. We can’t have exciting, new ideas without the wow people, and we can’t bring those ideas to life without the how people. We need wow people and their big dreams as much as we need how people and their details. I hope this not only encourages you to appreciate someone that might be wired differently than you, but also gives you some practical tips to work better with them.
Most people are quick to judge when it comes to anger. But what if the reverse was positive? Is anger good for your marriage? As much as there is a negative part in anger, there can be a positive part. Emotions serve a variety of purposes, both good and bad. Desire to be supported and encourage by other like-minded women? Join us at Women of IMPACT. http://facebook.com/groups/thewomenofimpact So you can choose to stay stuck in the negative and think only how anger can be destructive. I have shared my stories regarding anger. However, there is so much more when it comes to how anger can be a bridge to discovering what might be happening at a deeper level. Anger is mostly a secondary emotion, with fear, frustration, and hurt being the primary. When you experience an emotional rush, you must understand the root of where it's coming from, the root cause. What is that trigger? We all have those triggers that push us over the edge. It's the BUTTONS that charge us. You have buttons that charge you and bring out the worse. Emotions produce energy. And it's how we use that energy...for the good or bad. I want you to think as these BUTTONS from the reverse and create a chain reaction for the positive. The K.I.S.S. ~ Create a chain reaction for the positive! You know that anger will occur in your marriage. This can stem from hurt, fear, and frustration. We're all too familiar with this. Create a chain reaction, because you care deeply about something or desire to impact what you see as wrong. This is the button you want to push. What is the purpose of this feeling, the root cause? This opens yourself up to understanding on a deeper level what you care about. You get mad or upset because there is something within you that says, "This means something to me." How is this anger serving me? Is this a crutch I use to get what I want? Or do I really have a sensitivity to the situation at hand? You will begin to notice a trend or pattern when it's more than, "I want my own way". Where does it connect to my heart? Emotions are the voices of your heart. It's a way for your heart to be heard. So what is your heart telling you? This is the next step of going from reaction to responding. Anger can be volatile. You must be in charge of it before it becomes in charge of you. Anger can overtake your marriage. Or you can overcome anger using it to paint the bigger picture. "God gave you a heart and a brain. Emotions and logic to ignite your life! Use them in a way to change the world." When you think about it, what does love mean to you? And remember, love is more than a feeling. Definitions of words can be easy to ramble off. But you can stop anyone in their tracks when you ask what love means. Desire to be supported and encourage by other like-minded women? Join us at Women of IMPACT. http://bit.ly/WomenofIMPACT At first they say something like, "You can't put love into words. You just know." Yet why are break-ups and divorce rates SO high? So what do you know? Why did you fall in love with your sweetheart? There are moments I question that myself. But usually it's in response to me being upset about something, and I find myself shaking my head. Understand this is normal. I want you to look at the big picture. What does love mean to you? You might chime in with it's an attraction at first. It's that unexplainable nervous-like feeling you got when you first saw your sweetheart. However, love is more than a feeling. If we acted only on feelings, we would be messed up. Feelings are misleading. You can go from being upset, to being totally rolling on the floor with laughter in minutes. Feelings are a reaction. What love needs is a thoughtful response! The K.I.S.S. ~ Respond not react! Think back to a situation where you reacted quickly without much thought. You see, feelings encourage a reaction. It's the knee jerk reaction (patella reflex). It happens before you give it thought. It's automatic. A response, though, is careful and thorough consideration. Time is place between the situation and your follow-up. This allows you to be more thoughtful as to your approach. A little less fight and a little more consideration. Respond not react. Give thoughtful consideration to the situation/circumstance. Look at the situation from all perspectives. Respond with the heart-mind connection. Love is more than a feeling. Love is an action. CHALLENGE: How are your loving in your marriage? Where can you love with more responses not reactions? "Love is more than a feeling." Where does the real peace show up in your life? Is it peace you try to gain with your own doings? The real peace is much greater than anything you can do. In fact, you can't shop yourself to peace either. Yet retail therapy is very popular nowadays. Desire to be supported and encourage by other like-minded women? Join us at Women of IMPACT. http://facebook.com/groups/thewomenofimpact The real peace is not found in things and stuff, activities and even our communities. The real peace is given freely by your Heavenly Father. He loves you so much that after Jesus rose from the grave, He breathed in us the Holy Spirit. Again Jesus said, "Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you." ~ John 20:21 You are not alone. As crazy as life gets, you can have the real peace. The peace that surpasses all understanding. It would be nice to think that your day is going to be filled with peace, tranquility, and calmness. But we are not guaranteed easy days. "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." ~ John 16:33 You don't have to walk in your day feeling compelled to carry the weight of the world. Let God carry your problems. Let God bare your pain. Let God give you peace. "You have peace not because you don't have problems. It's because the problems don't have you." The spilt milk, the past due on bills, the chaos that fills your day. God's got you! "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." ~ John 14:27 The K.I.S.S. ~ Breathe in the real peace! Take a deep breath and breathe in the real peace, God's peace. His love for you. His promises. You are not alone. "Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, I am sending you." ~ John 20:21 What we need to hear is it's gonna be ok. You're going to be alright. There's no reason to stew over what God has control over. God majors in the minors. He's here to love you, guide you, and protect you. Walk by faith knowing God's got YOU!! "The God of peace be with you! Amen."~ Romans 15:33 "Lean on God. Let Him be the real peace in your day, every day!" CHALLENGE: How will you breathe in the real peace? Why does marriage have to be so complicated? Give and take is a lot easier to say than it is to do. How can you give more than you take anyway? Because taking is more rewarding to yourself. Desire to be supported and encourage by other like-minded women? Join us at Women of IMPACT. http://facebook.com/groups/thewomenofimpact I mean seriously. Who are we kidding? Didn't we marry each other to take from one another? Now take a moment to really process the idea of give and take. I listen to so many whines and groans and complaints about how "my marriage isn't working". And yes, some are legitimate concerns. But if you listen to the underlining fuss, the tone of voice is "what about me?". If you are being selfish in your marriage, your marriage cannot survive when things are going bad; finances, job, children, health. When you think about give and take, take implies expectancy. If I give, then you will too in return. So I get to take. So if you want an incredible, meaningful, loving marriage, give without expectancy must be a part of your vocabulary translated into your actions. The give must stand out in your response daily. Or at least it should be. Building a strong foundation starts with give and receive! The K.I.S.S. ~ Give and receive! When you give, give, give, eventually you will receive. Now there will be seasons that you give more than you receive. But you cannot keep score. And yes, there should be giving from your spouse. Otherwise, that can lead to a toxic marriage. However, let's put it into perspective. If Jesus kept score on us, who would win every time? Not you or me! So lead by example. GIVE more and receive with gratitude! Show your love with the 'unconditional' actions and responses. "Give more and receive with gratitude." CHALLENGE: How will you give to your husband today? No matter how hard life gets, please believe in me! Believe in me when I don't get it. Believe in me when I can't. Believe in me! A cry and a plea from our children. "Pay attention to me. I need you to believe in me." Desire to be supported and encourage by other like-minded women? Join us at Women of IMPACT. http://facebook.com/groups/thewomenofimpact Why are we so cooped up with our own stuff that we forget what our children need from us? The term mantras and declarations are thrown around like a piece of gum. We want it in our life, but we don't even share them. Do you even really know what they mean? Now maybe you're a little confused with my frustration. But how can we say we are cheering on our children and believing in them when in actuality we are hanging them out to dry. Too many parents are practicing "hands-off" parenting. I'm not here to get into a debate as to how you should parent or not. What I am encouraging you to do is think about what you need. And if you need encouragement, don't you think your child does too? Believe in me! But we get SO wrapped up in our own lives, thinking we are more connected now than ever. The hard reality, the hard truth... we are more disconnected now. The intimate, close person-to-person relationships are fading, including in our own households. Think about this. How many times are you sitting down as a family for dinner? We just keep stuffing our lives with more and more, sacrificing the greatest gift we have; each other! If you are stuffing your life with so much, you better be stuffing it with belief in your children too. And they need to know it. You can't find belief on an Instagram story, or a Facebook Live. It's given from the one who loves you most. Believe in me! Moms. Dads. Wake up. It's time to carry the belief torch. The K.I.S.S. ~ Carry the belief torch! There are times in our life where we get so busy with one goal, that every other area in life gets thrown off balance. Some people work so hard at their job that they neglect their health - on the other hand, others spend so much time on their health and working out that maybe they neglect their marriage or family time. It's all about balance. Once in a while, to keep us balanced is reality checks. They don't come often, but when they do, we gain a whole different perspective on life. Maybe one day you have to rush to the ER because your child broke a bone or you get to know someone who lives with a disability - the list goes on. What do these experiences teach us? The biggest thing is what we take for granted, and maybe our lives aren't all that hard after all. Reality checks help us keep things in perspective. So how do we become the master of perspective? Have you ever had an experience that changed the way you saw things forever? Once we come out on the other side our perspective changes so much that we can't really go back to the way we were before. It changes our mindset and attitude to help make our lives from that moment on better. Challenge: How could a problem or irritation you are dealing with right now be solved with a change in perspective? How to Live a Beautiful, Blessed Life Living with the Power of Gratitude How to make Important Moments Count

"Occupy yourself with the nature of God, not the size of your biceps." ~ Max Lucado You are trying to do everything of your own strength, your own will. "You have to stop preparing to live. You have to start living!" ~ Kristianne Wargo The K.I.S.S. ~ Run with purpose in every step! "So I run with purpose in every step." ~ 1 Corinthians 9:26 Know your faults and confess them. Know your strengths and give them. Know your weaknesses and embrace them. The direction for the road ahead is not of your own strength, but in God's. CHALLENGE: How will you run with purpose in every step today? Will you run away from what you've done, hiding in the would haves, should haves, could haves, and what ifs? OR will you run towards a God who is ever willing to see your success, to smile at even your faults embracing you because YOU matter? "You are created for more. You are created on purpose, for a purpose. So run with purpose in every step." "One step at a time leads to miles of greatness!" Have you ever had that conversation that's intense and gets heated? You become at war with words. We need to learn how to have truth spoken in love. And it's especially essential with children, our family and the world we touch. Desire to be supported and encourage by other like-minded women? Join us at Women of IMPACT. http://facebook.com/groups/thewomenofimpact This is how the conversation began... My children were coming home and asking how to handle their chats they were having with their friends. Truth spoken in love. You see, today, we welcome in our 45th President of the United States, Mr. Donald J. Trump and the first family, and the Vice President, Mr. Mike Pence and his family. This is NOT political, but it's how our conversation began on how we speak to each other. Is there a right or a wrong way? Where the respect lies. "The hardest job kids face today is learning good manners without seeing any." ~ Fred Astaire We are ALL uniquely made! There's only ONE of YOU! Which means that your perspective is unique to YOU! "Be truthful, gentle, and fearless." ~ Gandi Truth spoken in love. One who comes from a small town and never moved will look at things totally different than someone who has lived and traveled around the world being immersed in different cultures. Each of us have different: perspectives experiences influences how one was raised CHALLENGE: How do you speak truth? Truth in your family, in the workplace, to your customers, at church, even driving. Do you come across as the one and only one? Are you more quiet and reserved fearful to say anything? Truth spoken in love. Agape love. Love that is of the highest form. No judgment. "Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth." ~ 1 Corinthians 13:6 The K.I.S.S. ~ Speak TRUTH in Love! This is the second series on the Mama Says Namaste Podcast with my most favorite guest (and partner for life), Nathan Logsdon. In this series, we dig deep into the critical components that create a healthy and happy intimate relationship - join us as we discuss Laughter, Humble Pie, and Lots of Sex! Saying yes feels good. But a great relationship is one where you can say no and everyone is totally okay with it. Dr. Henry Cloud You get what you tolerate - Dr. Henry Cloud How do you create a routine with your children where saying “no” is okay? 7-7 Rule - from 7pm to 7am, our kids knew this was “mommy/daddy time” - time for us to connect and have our own downtime. The key is we communicated this clearly - not that they were ousted out, but why it was important to us and how it helped our whole family. Newsflash for our children - the world does not revolved around them. How can we help them understand this before they are “thrown to the wolves” of the outside world? We can help by setting clear boundaries in our home that aren’t all child-focused. Have you filled a bucket today? (amzn.to/2xtM07A) Great children’s book - a whole series - to help children understand about deposits and withdrawals in our emotional bank account (or emptying/filling the bucket). Curious about how to give from a full cup and what that looks like? Here is a great analogy from my father, Dan Miller: On Giving From A Full Cup (https://vimeo.com/152632600) Setting clear boundaries allows you to give more, be more, love more, invest more in others because you are pouring from a full cup. The part that keeps our family together starts with our relationship - keep your relationship a priority. Bathtub Boundaries with an Ocean of Love (http://www.mamasaysnamaste.com/bathtub-boundaries-with-an-ocean-of-love/) - how can you give them the world but in a way that gives them support and security? We chose to keep our bedroom our safe haven - we kept it kid-free. If you chose to co-sleep, that’s fine - but create a sacred space somewhere. Create a place and a time that is for you two and your relationship - not revolving around the children. What are you portraying to your children? Are you living for them only, or are you capable to stand on your own ? Are you a thriving, confident, independent person…what you want your children to become? Don’t be afraid to lay clear boundaries - this doesn’t break a relationship; it makes it more secure because there is clear communication. Allow for a reset. Be intentional and create a game plan for how to get out of the rut. It may mean cracking down and being super diligent for a short time, but the long term payoff is so, so worth it. Key Takeaways: You cannot give from an empty cup. Be sure you are intentional in what you need. Set clear boundaries. Clearly communicate what your boundaries are. Be consistent and follow through. Challenge: How will you invest in your family this week? What boundary needs to be set? Limit screen time, 1-1 focused time with kids, time to reconnect with your spouse - what is your intention to make a positive change in your home life this week? And remember, if you’re liking what you hear, we want to hear from you!
