Aimee Suyko: "I’ve spoken to tons of women who are living the after-life of cancer and everyone handles it differently, but all of us agree that it’s a new sisterhood that unless you’ve walked this path, you truly will never understand the physical, mental and spiritual differences that will live with you forever. This is why I’ve been called to create this community and to work with women who are facing, battling or recovering from breast cancer. We will live with scars, we will live with side effects from medications, we will live with the thoughts of will it come back again. Yet every day we will get up, and live the lives we were meant to live." Loving your body after breast cancer by Aimee Suyko! Have you ever had a brain stall where you just couldn't think of a name or word, and then remember it the next day when you weren't putting pressure on your brain? Let's face it...we are a sedentary society with frightening food ingredients, such as rubber in bread from fast food franchises. General health issues--food chemicals, poor eating habits, and lack of physical activity--have now been targeted as one of the leading causes of cancer and other diseases. Fast food is too convenient. We work hard at a desk, go home mentally exhausted, eat late after dealing with traffic, and then we just cannot think about exercise. Guest: Becky Cortez, Fitness for Health, gives us tips to help us get healthier. Listen live M-T 2:00 pm ET www.W4CS.com, Joni at www.JoniAldrich.com
Discussing cancer value from three continents, Dr. Lowell Schnipper (representing ASCO) in the U.S., Dr. Ahmed Elzawawy, ICEDOC, Int. Campaign for Establishment and Development of Oncology Centres, Professor of Medicine Dr. David Kerr, CMO Oxford Cancer Solutions in the UK. Does high cost cancer care give cancer patients the best chance of survival? We tend to equate expense with effectiveness. The numbers don't support that. Some of the most expensive and commonly prescribed medical tests and treatments are not evidence-based and offer very little proven value to the patient. This is a global issue that needs to be addressed as more and more people are being diagnosed with cancer, and surviving the disease. Listen live M-T 2:00 pm ET www.W4CS.com, Joni at www.JoniAldrich.com

Proof-positive that you can survive lung cancer long-term, and you can be diagnosed at a young age (which is happening more often), Pam Crist was diagnosed in 1983 with adenocarcinoma. Her prognosis was 5%-15% chance of survival 5 yrs. She was only 36-yrs.-old, and determined to beat the odds! When you consider the lack of effective treatments three decades ago, Pam's decision to focus on changing her health habits (even though they were not that bad to begin with!) had to be a contributing factor in her survival. I compare hearing the words "you have cancer" to getting hit by a truck going 100 mph. You are suddenly deaf, dumb and blind. Whether it's you or someone else, at least once in your life someone will say to you, "I have cancer", and when these three words are spoken, you may struggle with a response. Every year fourteen million people worldwide learn they are living with or may die from this illness. Dr. Stan Goldberg is the author of: "I Have Cancer", 48 Things to Do When You Hear Those Words.
