It's Thursday, May 29th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Christianity growing in Asia despite persecution International Christian Concern reports that Christianity is growing in Asia despite severe persecution. In 2024, there were 415 million Christians in Asia, making up 8% of the continent's population. That's up from 3% in 2010. Since 2020, Christianity's growth rate in Asia has been 1.6% per year. The church is growing in Communist, Buddhist, and Islam-dominated countries like China, Laos, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Myanmar. All this growth continues despite persecution in the from of harassment, anti-conversion laws, restrictions on Bibles, arrests, imprisonments, and even violence and murder.  In 2 Corinthians 4:8-10, the Apostle Paul wrote, “We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed .  … persecuted, but not forsaken … always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body.” 50% of kids in United Kingdom do not live with both biological parents Research from the Marriage Foundation found that nearly half of children in the United Kingdom do not live with both of their biological parents. The report showed a record 45% of teenagers are not living with both parents by the age of 14.  This trend is not driven by divorce which is at its lowest level since 1970. Instead, family breakdown is driven by a collapse in marriage rates. Harry Benson, the Research Director for the Marriage Foundation, said, “The level of family breakdown in the UK is at epidemic proportions and is set to get worse.” French House voted to legalize assisted suicide France's National Assembly voted in favor of a bill to legalize assisted suicide on Tuesday.  The measure allows adult patients with painful and incurable illness to take a lethal substance. The bill must also pass in France's Senate. Matt Vallière, the Executive Director of the Patients' Rights Action Fund, warned, “The French National Assembly cast a fateful and terrible vote that will put a great many at risk of deadly harm and discrimination under an unprecedented euthanasia regime.” Proverbs 12:10 says, “The tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.” Supremes declines case of Christian kid's t-shirt affirming 2 genders In the United States, the Supreme Court declined to hear a free speech case Tuesday. The case involves a Massachusetts public school student named Liam Morrison. In 2023, he wore a T-shirt to class that said, “There are only 2 genders.” In response, the school banned him from wearing the shirt. The Morrison family challenged the decision; however, the courts ruled against them. Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito authored a dissenting opinion to the court's decision to not hear the case. He said the free speech case “presents an issue of great importance for our Nation's youth.” Listen to viral comments from Liam, the boy at the epicenter. He made them before his school board. MORRISON: “What did my shirt say? Five simple words. ‘There are only two genders.' Nothing harmful, nothing threatening. Just a statement I believe to be a fact. “I have been told that my shirt was targeting a protected class. Who is this protected class? Are their feelings more important than my rights? … “Not one person, staff or student, told me that they were bothered by what I was wearing. Actually, just the opposite. Several kids told me that they supported my actions and that they wanted one too.” Defense Secretary Hegseth affirms homeschooling for military families Earlier this month, U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth  ordered the department to review how well it supports homeschooling for military families.  The directive follows an executive order from President Donald Trump on supporting school choice in the military.  Hegseth wrote, “Homeschooling offers an individualized approach for students and highlights the significant role parents play in the educational process.” Liberal Presbyterian Church (USA) keeps losing members The Presbyterian Church (USA) lost nearly 50,000 members last year according to its latest report.  The liberal denomination has been losing a similar number of members each year since the COVID-19 pandemic. Their unbiblical stands have cemented their own demise. In 2014, it voted to allow pastors to marry two homosexual men or two lesbians.  Plus, PC(USA) contends that there should be no laws restricting abortion. At its current rate of decline, the PC(USA) will likely fall below one million members this year. Protestors harass Christians promoting Biblically-defined family, sexuality And finally, MayDay USA held a prayer event in Seattle, Washington last Saturday. The group gathers Christians to seek God, proclaim the Gospel, and promote the “sacredness of gender and family as defined by God.” In response, violent rioters, including Antifa members, showed up to harass the Christians. This ended in police making over 20 arrests.  Sadly, Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell blamed the Christians for the violence.  In response, FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino  announced, “We have asked our team to fully investigate allegations of targeted violence against religious groups at the Seattle concert. Freedom of religion isn't a suggestion.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Thursday, May 29th, in the year of our Lord 2025. Subscribe for free by Spotify, Amazon Music or by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com. Ho traces the genders manifesting alongside Japanese popular culture in Akihabara, an area in Tokyo renowned for the fandom and consumption of anime, manga, and games. Drawing on ethnographic fieldwork in josō and dansō cafe-and-bars, establishments where male-to-female and female-to-male crossdressing is prevalent, Ho shows how their owners, employees, and customers creatively innovate what she calls emergent genders—new practices, categories, and ways of being stemming from the simultaneous fracturing, contestations, and (re)imaginations of older forms of gender and sexual variance in Japan. Such emergent genders initiate new markets for alternative categories of expression and subjectivity to thrive in a popular cultural hub like Akihabara instead of Tokyo's gay and lesbian neighborhood of Shinjuku Ni-chōme. By rethinking identitarian models of gender and sexuality, reconfiguring the significance of capitalism for trans studies and queer theory, and decentering theoretical frameworks incubated in a predominantly United States academic context, Ho offers new ways of examining how trans and gender nonconforming individuals may survive and flourish under capitalism. Send us a textCreating an inclusive and safe space for everyone to explore movement and work out can be challenging - Trey Joseph took on that challenge and through his own experience of living in a marginalised body as a transgender man and learning how to coach from a trauma informed lens he is DOING JUST THAT!We had such a great conversation with Trey and chatted with him about- how he came to his inclusive approach to fitness - his new coaching programme- what is needed for people to feel safe in the spaces they exercise in- why we could all do with a bit of dancing Trey is a strength and fitness coach, personal trainer, and behaviour change specialist who's all-in on making exercise enjoyable, accessible, and inclusive. As a queer, transgender man who transitioned later in life, he knows what it's like to live in a marginalised body—and how intimidating working out can feel, especially when you're just starting or don't feel at home in mainstream fitness spaces. What Trey loves most about working out is how it supports his mental and emotional health, and he wholeheartedly believes that everyone deserves the freedom and resources to move their body in a way that's right for them. That's why his coaching style is client-centred, compassion-led, and designed to build confidence, and every workout he coaches is designed to feel safe, fun, and zero-pressure. He's one third of the Strength Crew coaching team (along with his wife Emma and dog Dexy), offers online fitness classes as well as 1:1 sessions, and you can chat to him on IG at @trey_strengthcrew Please reach out if you would like some support with your relationship to food OR movement. It's Wednesday, February 19th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Christians faced the most murders and abductions in Africa Global Christian Relief released the Violent Incidents Database last month in partnership with the International Institute for Religious Freedom. The publicly accessible resource records over 6,000 verified incidents of religious persecution starting from 2022. Christians faced the most murders and abductions in Africa according to the database. Europe led in terms of damage to religious buildings. Believers faced the most sentences and arrests in Asia. Asia also led in terms of attacks on houses and people being forced to leave their home or country.   Global Christian Relief reported Nigeria, India, China, and Azerbaijan were some of the worst countries for the persecution of Christians in their 2025 Red List Report.  British woman in trouble for holding pro-life sign outside abortion mill A retired medical scientist in England will face trial next month for her pro-life work. The case began when authorities confronted 63-year-old Livia Tossici-Bolt for holding a sign near an abortion mill. The sign read “Here to talk, if you want to.”  Jeremiah Igunnubole, Legal Counsel for Alliance Defending Freedom UK, noted, “Under far-reaching and vaguely-written rules, we have seen volunteers like Livia criminalized simply for offering conversations to those in need; and others dragged through courts for praying, even silently, in their minds.” Christian physician assistant fired for affirming two genders In the United States, a Christian healthcare worker is fighting for her religious freedom with the help of First Liberty. Back in 2021, the University of Michigan Health System fired Valerie Kloosterman. The physician assistant lost her job for remaining committed to the Biblical definition of male and female. She took her case to the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals earlier this month. Kloosterman said, “I couldn't do this without my faith. This battle belongs to the Lord. I'm His instrument and I'm required to be faithful. I'm hoping that I do that every step of this process even though it can be difficult and hard.” 2 Chronicles 20:15 says, “Thus says the LORD to you: ‘Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God's.” Trump announces reciprocal tariffs President Donald Trump announced reciprocal tariffs on Monday. He wrote on X, “On Trade, I have decided, for purposes of Fairness, that I will charge a RECIPROCAL Tariff -- meaning whatever Countries charge the United States of America, we will charge them. No more, no less!” A Trump administration official told The Hill the tariffs will apply equally to competitors, like communist China, or allies like the European Union or Japan or Korea. JP Morgan, Citigroup, & Morgan Stanley scrub DEI nonsense Big banks in the U.S. are reacting to President Trump's executive order against diversity, equity, and inclusion programs, also known as DEI. Banks like Morgan Stanley, JPMorgan, and Citigroup have scrubbed their public references to DEI in recent weeks, reports The Wall Street Journal.  A White House fact sheet from last month noted, “In the private sector, many corporations and universities use DEI as an excuse for biased and unlawful employment practices and illegal admissions preferences, ignoring the fact that DEI's foundational rhetoric and ideas foster intergroup hostility.” Delta plane crashed at Canadian airport, flipped upside down A Delta Air Lines jet crashed at Canada's Toronto Pearson International Airport on Monday, reports Fox News. The flight was carrying 80 people on board from Minneapolis.  The plane ended upside down on the runway, leaving passengers hanging from their seats “like bats” as one passenger described.  At least 21 people were injured, but thankfully no one died in the crash.  Republican Rep. Pete Stauber of Minnesota said, “I am praying for those involved and will continue to monitor this situation as details emerge. I am incredibly grateful for the quick response of the first responders on the ground!”  Anniversary of John Bunyan's Pilgrim's Progress And finally, this week is the 347th anniversary of the publication of John Bunyan's Pilgrim's Progress. His first volume of the book was announced on February 18, 1678. With 250 million copies sold, it's one of the best-selling books of all time.  If you don't have a copy, pick up one today. It's a must have volume for every Christian's library. Bunyan began the work from prison. He was sentenced for holding unsanctioned religious services. Despite suffering for his faith, he would produce a Christian classic that would influence the church for centuries.  The 19th century English preacher Charles Spurgeon said of Bunyan, “Read anything of his, and you will see that it is almost like reading the Bible itself. He had read it till his very soul was saturated with Scripture; and though his writings are charmingly full of poetry, yet he cannot give us his Pilgrim's Progress—that sweetest of all prose poems—without continually making us feel and say, ‘Why, this man is a living Bible!'” Jeremiah 15:16 says, “Your words were found, and I ate them, and Your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart; for I am called by Your name, O LORD God of hosts.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Wednesday, February 19th, in the year of our Lord 2025. Subscribe by Amazon Music or by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com.
