Amy Howard fell in love with horseback riding as a child on her grandparent’s NJ farm. She decided to pursue teaching and professional riding exclusively in 2001, coaching and grooming Grand Prix horses. Amy competed on the Dutch Indy in PSG on the Wellington Circuit, qualifying for Dressage (we'll talk to her about what that its!) at Devon in 2003. Since then, Amy has competed throughout NJ, NY, PA and FL, on a variety of horses she has developed, Currently Amy has two six-year-old horses that she is working to develop to Grand Prix. She'll talk to us about her life and her career. Roddy Piper was one of the most iconic professional wrestlers of the 20th century, winning dozens of titles and engaging in a decades-long feud with Hulk Hogan that launched the WrestleMania era. He was goig to pen his memoir shortly before he died of a heart attack last year at age 61. Now two of his children completed the story of an entertainment legend, revealing how he grew up as a runaway homeless teen to become a man who did battle in milestone matches with the likes of Andre the Giant, Ric Flair, Mr. T, Bret Hart, Chavo Guerrero, Adrian Adonis, and Bad News Brown. Their revealing but touching biography, Rowdy: The Roddy Piper Story (Penguin Random House Canada, October 2016), completes the record of a man fans just loved to hate, and to whom they hated to say goodbye. His son, Colt Baird Toombs, stops by to talk with us about the book and his father.

In his book Disco Demolition: The Night Disco Died, radio legend Steve Dahl, journalist Dave Hoekstra, and photographer Paul Natkin explain, in full, the culturally and politically significant meaning behind Disco Demolition, an event that was meant to boost fan attendance at Comiskey Park. I love when a show gets a 'wow.' This one does. From the conversation with Mac Engel about his book "Pigskin Rapture" to our guest Dr. Robert Willix, who is in major training mode gearing up for his 2nd IRONMAN at age 75, Sports Palooza Radio brings you the best stories! Mac talked to us about his trip to see four football games in Texas in four days. Pigskin Rapture: Four Days in the Life of Texas Football captures not just the action on the field, but all of the the sights, sounds, and smells of a state smitten with football: from K-D’s Barbecue in Midland, to the rarefied air of Cowboys owner Jerry Jones’s private box in AT & T Stadium. Here, too, are the more subtle and occasionally unseen manifestations of Texas football culture: a homeless man who resides on a practice field in Houston; the cavernous remains of the Astrodome; the proud high school where Andrew Luck played; the Australian woman who made the Cowboy’s cheerleading squad, having never watched an NFL game; and the hangover a West Texas town continues to endure nearly three decades following the publication of Friday Night Lights. Tune in!

This week the guys welcome back Jimmy Mulligan to the show, as the Medford, Long Island native recently returned to the Cosmos after a stint on loan with Swope Park of the USL. Composer, musician, and producer Megan Cavallari has a knack for creating music that industry legend Richard Kraft recently called “amazing and earworm candy.” From film and television soundtracks to stage musicals to being the official composer of the NHL’s Los Angeles Kings, the award-winning Philadelphia native has managed to land at the top of a her profession (despite the fact that less than 1% of all professional composers are females). She’s beginning her tenth season with the LA Kings – perhaps her favorite gig because of her passion and dedication to ice hockey (she regularly plays left wing in a men’s league). Cavallari is also a committed vegan. While raising an eleven year old daughter with juvenile arthritis, Cavallari has also launched the Talk Foundation Project, where she records the thoughts and observations of terminally ill children. Megan is a great interview. Enjoy!

This week on #IntotheCosmos, your hosts Ej Garr and Frank Dell'Apa run down the final weekend of the Spring schedule, while the NY Cosmos are forced to sit and wait for the results of the final round that will decide the first playoff berth in the NASL. The bye-week certainly comes at a good time for the Cosmos, as they prepare for the rematch with NYCFC after last year's win at the U.S Open Cup, although the venue moves from Shuart Stadium to Coffey Field this year. We sit down with David Diosa this week, as the Colombian native is certainly proud of his nation after securing advancement in the Copa America with only two matches played in group stage. Oh, by the way, that includes a big win over the USMNT to start the proceedings on June 3. Can the Cosmos hold three teams at bay and secure the Spring title? We will break down the matches that will effect the Cosmos chances of holding on the top spot in the table.
Sports Palooza Radio: Actor Sheldon Bailey

Jen A. Miller has fallen in and out of love, but no partner has been there for her the way running has. In Running: A Love Story (Seal Press / March 22, 2016 / $17.00), Jen tells the story of her lifelong relationship with running with wit, thoughtfulness, and brutal honesty. Jen first laces up her sneakers in high school, when, like many people, she experiences running as a painful part of conditioning for other sports. But when she discovers early in her career as a journalist that it helps her clear her mind, focus her efforts, and achieve new goals, she becomes hooked for good. Jen, a middle-of- the-pack but tenacious runner, hones her skill while navigating relationships with men that, like a tricky marathon route, have their ups and downs, relying on running to keep her steady in the hard times. As Jen pushes herself toward ever-greater challenges, she finds that running helps her walk away from the wrong men and learn to love herself while revealing focus, discipline, and confidence she didn’t realize she had. About the Author: Jen A. Miller is a veteran freelance journalist whose work has appeared in the New York Times, SELF, espnW, Runner's World, Running Times, The Philadelphia Inquirer, Allure, and Women's Day. The guys sit down with Seba, who of course is Sebastian Guenzatti who wears the 13 jersey for the Cosmos, as he has since 2013. Seba has enjoyed two titles with the club, and has also had the pleasure of working out with La Liga side Malaga in preparation for last year's season. Seba talks about his love of Uruguay, and the possibilities of playing with the national team as we approach the Copa America 100th edition of the tournament that starts in June here in the United States. Seba will be at the match being played in Philadelphia between Uruguay and Venezuela in the South American based event, but for now his concentration is on finishing the Spring portion of the year with the lone playoff spot that comes with first place in the NASL. The Cosmos currently hold that top spot entering the round of action, and a big win in Edmonton to follow up the win in Miami, is exactly what the doctor ordered for the NY Cosmos.
In conjunction with 2016 being the 25th Anniversary of the Atlanta Braves' 1991 worst-to-first finish (the first ever in NL history), as well as the launch of the team's unprecedented 14-straight-year title streak, noted baseball writer, author and long-time Braves fan Dan Schlossberg has written the definitive book on this incredible achievement, When the Braves Ruled the Diamond: Fourteen Flags Over Atlanta. In fact, it is the only book on this subject that will be available to fans this year. The 292-page hardcover, featuring a foreword by Hall of Fame manager Bobby Cox, is the only book to chronicle all the details of the streak, a pro sports record. As you probably know, three other members of those great Braves teams - - pitchers Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine and John Smoltz - - also have been inducted into the Hall of Fame, and third baseman Chipper Jones should be joining them shortly. ?All four Hall of Famers, plus Chipper and Andruw Jones, GM John Schuerholz, pitching coach Leo Mazzone, slugger Andres Galarraga, catcher Javy Lopez and dozens of other members of the Braves "family" revealed behind the scenes memories of those Fourteen Flags to Schlossberg - - and now the author is ready to share their private stories with you.
This week on #IntotheCosmos, your hosts Ej Garr and Frank Dell'Apa get you set for a big weekend in Florida, as the NY Cosmos get set to make their first trip to the expansion club Miami FC's home at FIU Stadium on Saturday, May 7. With three points to make up in the table and only five matches remaining in the spring portion of the campaign, the NY Cosmos look to ride the momentum of a big win at Shuart Stadium over the Railhawks last weekend. Three Cosmos appear on the NASL Team of the Week, one of which being Jimmy Maurer who is our guest this week on the show. Jimmy made three key saves late in the match on balls that had eyes for the back of the net, but the Cosmos keeper rallied to earn his 28th clean sheet in his NASL Career, which is a modern-day record. The Cosmos travel to Edmonton from Miami for back-to-back road games that will help decide the spring title, so tune in to One World Sports at 8PM EDT on Saturday, May 7, to root for your Cosmos!
This week on #IntotheCosmos, your hosts Ej Garr and Frank Dell'Apa get you ready for arguably the biggest match of the spring portion of the campaign. The first place Railhawks have set the precedence with wins in all four of their outings in 2016, which has left the Cosmos six points behind the table leaders, and three points behind Minnesota, who we know handed the Cosmos a tough 1 - 0 defeat last weekend, despite the Cosmos playing up a man for most of the second half. We have two interviews to air this week, as Austin da Luz from the Railhawks pays the guys a visit with his goal scoring touch the talk of the town so far. Da Luz leads the NASL with three goals scored, tied with Cvitanich and Ramirez. Gabriel Farfan of the NY Cosmos also stops by for a chat, so sit back, relax, and enjoy another edition of the Into the Cosmos Team Podcast!
