Or how about this one; the 'King' of Rock 'n Roll is actually a 'QUEEN' by the name of Rosetta Thorp, who credits her inspiration to Rock 'n Roll as being gospel music. The truth is, the further you dig into the beginnings of music as we know it, the blacker the roots get. After talking about the debacle that was the Presidential Debate, Kala and Desi open on their views of relationships from their past and now. Lord have mercy this was a week... With the main topic being drug culture, this seems to be amplified in a country that is so divided. In case you haven’t heard the news talks through two major events in the past week and how a country in crisis often relies on medication of some sort. Kala and Desi discuss how medication began as a coping mechanism and how now it is out of hand as an epidemic in our country. With a history of drugs in America, along with how their long-term side effects are unknown and the influx of drugs in our media, Kala and Desi leave no stone unturned when talking through drug culture.

In episode 16, Kala and Desi release a signature drink as they talk through the crazy happenings of our country. Desi damn near had a break down when she realizes the state of our country before the topic of the week is introduced: Mental Health. Kala gives inspirations to all talking through ‘mental health is on a continuum’. As Desi talks about how the history of psychiatry and ‘insanity’ deters people from getting help, Kala discusses the importance of strengthening mental health, especially during COVID-19. Topics range from medication to dimensions of wellness, but the liquor quickly kicked in as the ladies opened up quickly about the topic of the week.

What draws people to True Crime TV? How have stories of violence become one of America's largest guilty pleasures? In episode 15 of Sunday Sips, Kala and Desi explore just that. With Ique Merlot poured (what pairs better with true crime than red wine), both women talk through the history and psychology of criminal justice in America paired with media influence. While more question may arise than what are answered, it is still worth asking "What draws us into true crime culture?".

Imagine the possibilities of unlocking $1.4 trillion. What could we as a people do if we collectively gained control of our money? In episode 14 of Sunday Sips, Kala and Desi discuss exactly that. Desi makes boozy cappuccinos while Kala puts her business degree to work in educating Desi, and listeners, on ‘The Power of the Black Dollar’.

In episode 13, Desi whips out Hennessy to get started on the topic Hood Rich. Kala brings some fire news in her segment "In Case You Haven't Heard", and one story in particular hits close to home. Both ladies then go through the topic of hood rich and what is at the root of people spending money on material goods as opposed to necessities and building long-term wealth. With discussions revolving around: systemic racism, popular culture, social media, friend groups, and lessons on money growing up; no stone is left unturned as Kala and Desi give an open and vulnerable conversation with a mix of laughs and Henn-spired rants. Been gone for a minute but back with so much to say! In episode 12, Kala sips on Jack Daniels with honey while Desi chooses Bird Dog Apple Whiskey to make it a dark liquor day as they talk about a subject close to Desi's heart: school and education. While Kala came to drop the knowledge in "In Case You Haven't Heard" and her subsequent research on the topic, Desi came with the heat on the flaws in education and the events discussed in the episode (seriously she even came for Oprah!). This episode is truly a special one, as listeners get small peaks and clues into the lives and history of each co-host, as it pertains to education and their views on access in 'the system'.

They all have been cancelled, or experienced ‘Cancel Culture’, to some degree. In episode 11 of Sunday Sips, Kala and Desi talk through their opinions on ‘Cancel Culture’ and whether or not they are pro/con the practice. While there is never a dull moment with Kala and Desi, this episode in particular is special because this is the first time Kala and Desi have ever discussed this topic! So all reactions heard are original, and fueled by the Jose Cuervo margaritas featured as the drink of the week.

In episode 10, COVID makes a return as our topic for the week. While drinking Le Ferne Juliene, Kala and Desi talk through how COVID is impacting everything from: relationships, fashion, sports, health, and even perceptions of Facebook friends. Both ladies take time to revisit topics from their very first episode, The Culture on COVID, while addressing what it means that people are working so hard to get back to a sense of 'normal'. In episode 9 of Sunday Sips, Desi makes screwdrivers with a pineapple twist as Kala opens with big news in America this week. To start the topic If Women Ruled the World, Desi starts with examples of matriarchy societies, both now and in history, that are thriving! Kala and Desi then talk about what they believe the world would look like if women were in charge. From international policy, to the justice system, healthcare, and even social-media beef, there wasn't much off-limits once the Stoli Crushed Pineapple kicked in. Kala and Desi begin episode 8 drinking Apothic Rosé to support a wine company owned by women. After talking through the highs and lows from the past few days in the segment " Incase You Haven't Heard", the two women begin their conversation on feminism talking through different definitions of feminism and which one they connect with most. After talking through the ideals of feminism, Kala and Desi share their opinions on what they believe has been holding our country back form equal rights for women. With discussion points ranging from bias in the workplace, to roadblocks in politics (and even the Lifetime Movie Network), you will be sure to hear both women's raw reactions to how White Dominate Culture and 'The Patriarchy' are to blame for literally everything. In episode 7 of Sunday Sips, Kala and Desi discuss what the myths are around self-care and why many do not see it as a day-to-day priority. Both ladies discuss their own self care routines with laughs and heart-to-heart moments on when self-care became a necessary part of life. Desi opens up about how self-care varies based on health and Kala shares why it takes her so long to get ready in the morning. Along with the news section "Incase You Haven’t Heard", Kala and Desi use this episode to model what it means to have moments of healing while urging listeners take time as well to put self-care first.

In episode 6, Kala and Desi dive into shots of Sake while Kala introduces a new segment of the podcast entitled, "In Case You Haven’t Heard." The two then begin their conversation on Millennials vs. Baby Boomers and how our time in history parallels with that of our grandparents/parents generation. Kala and Desi spend most of their time enjoying sake and laughing about the crazy stories they will tell their future grandchildren. In the fifth installment of Sunday Sips, Kala and Desi begin with their experience in two cities while protests were happening the weekend of May 30th.
