This year for me is a year to "explore". And one of the things I'm working on is exploring a deeper relationship and connection with God. I figure if this is something I'm working on, then maybe it's something you're working on too. Maybe it's something we can work on together. So as I'm working on my connection, I'm looking to work through the following:Overthinking / WorryNegative Self-TalkPeople PleasingAligning My Friendships to Who I'm BecomingThis is starting out as a year-long process, but it's more of a way to let go, surrender and connect. It won't really be limited to this year, but more of a process that I can keep peeling back layer after layer and deepening the relationship. If you're on a similar journey, or if you want to start a closer walk with God, listen in and see if any of these can help you find a path for you.References:Overthinking:Philippians 4:6-71 Peter 5:7Tapping: Ep 72 Tapping to Reduce Stress with Michelle Robinson (on Apple)Find a Labyrinth near you: labyrinthlocator.comNegative Self-TalkProverbs 18:21People Pleasing:Galations 1:10Aligning Friendships:2 Corinthians 6:141 Corinthians 15:33Friendships: Ep. 17: Inner Circle Friendships When You're Divorced (on Apple)Etsy prayer journal, affirmation cards and workbooks at The Confident Faith storefrontConnect with Joy at The Divorce Confidante:To find out more about working with a divorce coach and learning to heal and recover after divorce, connect at The Divorce Confidante website and book a free strategy call:www.divorce-confidante.comConnect with Joy:on Instagramon LinkedInFind additional resources from Joy and other authors in the No-Problem Parenting book, available on Amazon.Check out Joy's Amazon recommendations at The Divorce Confidante Shop Everything from books to journaling, yoga to mom's must-haves, and so much more.
Ladies, "divorce fatigue" is a real thing and can wreck your health, your mental clarity, your decision-making, and your emotional balance. On this week's episode, Joy talks about 5 ways to keep yourself mentally and physically healthy to withstand the divorce journey as a marathon and not a sprint, You don't want to run on empty and give up when you are so close to the finish line of your divorce and let the attorneys / courts decide the fate or your finances, support and custody because you don't have the stamina to be your best advocate. So much is about how you refill your cup, recharge your energy and surround yourself with the proper support system. Don't let your divorce be dictated by others due to divorce fatigue. Keep your energy at peak levels and avoid Divorce Fatigue.Referenced in the Episode:Isaiah 43:2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. One of the best things you can do to keep yourself on track for your divorce is to have an organizational system in place. From working with clients I find that having a "Divorce Go Bag" is a great way to keep all of your paperwork together and organized. The Divorce Go Bag is filled with all of the essentials you need to keep your documents together and keep you moving forward, without wasting time, money or energy gathering up all of the loose ends you need for appointments and meetings. You're time is already spent and your stress level is already too high. Keeping records in a single location allows for easy of use and recovery.Paper and digital records are worthwhile, so be open to utilizing both, if that suits your needs. But additional care is required for the digital records, so keep them secure.Let's get through divorce, through the healing, and on to the next chapter creating a life you love.References:Ep 24: Setting an Intention with a Word of the YearItems for the Divorce Go Bag can be found on The Divorce Confidante Amazon site.FREE downloads -- Divorce Checklist and Divorce Budget -- at Divorce Confidante WebsiteConnect with Joy at The Divorce Confidante:To find out more about working with a divorce coach and learning to heal and recover after divorce, connect at The Divorce Confidante website and book a free strategy call:www.divorce-confidante.comConnect with Joy:on Instagramon LinkedInFind additional resources from Joy and other authors in the No-Problem Parenting book, available on Amazon.Check out Joy's Amazon recommendations at The Divorce Confidante Shop Everything from books to journaling, yoga to mom's must-haves, and so much more.

I wanted to bring you a focus on the 4 themes of Advent this Christmas season, so this last week's meditation is on LOVE.God's love is divine, pure and unconditional. A reminder when we are going through divorce and grief and hard times can give us a much-needed boost to move forward. Focus on love, receiving and giving God's love, through this hectic holiday season.Christmas is stressful. Divorce is difficult. Co-parenting is hard.My hope is that connecting to hope, peace, joy and love this season may bring you comfort and relief.Merry Christmas!Verses Referenced:Ephesians 3:17-19Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in Him. Your roots will grow down into God's love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.Lyrics:Heaven came down and glory filled my soul.Truly He taught us to love one another, His law is love and His gospel is peace."O Holy Night"DISCLAIMER: Do not listen while you are driving or doing any type of activity where you need to be awake and present. I wanted to bring you a focus on the 4 themes of Advent this Christmas season, so this week's meditation is on JOY.Happiness is circumstantial and superficial, but joy is more deeply ingrained. Are you EXTRA stressed this Christmas season? It's not surprising if you're dealing with a separation, divorce, co-parenting and single mom life .... on top of everything else. So, let's take a few minutes to unwind and destress with a little gentle movement.Stretching through a brief yoga practice can help you release tension in your body, allow you to think more clearly and find more calm to deal with your kids and daily tasks. You can bring in mantras or visualization to help you create a peaceful space. Deeper breaths can help you open the heart and body. And the movement itself -- the spinal movements and twists -- can help lubricate and detox your body.Listen in to this week's episode where we take a mini-break to do a short practice (min. 11:00) to help you destress through the holidays. Have you ever tried "tapping" as part of your self-care or stress reduction practice? Are you ready to regulate your nervous system? My guest today, Michelle Robinson, is teaching us about the tapping / EFT technique and guiding us through a practice to help us reduce our stress as single moms this Christmas season.Tapping, or EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), is a modality to help you reduce stress and release negative emotions. It uses the meridians in the body to help us process those heavy or stuck feelings and move them through our system. It helps us get out of our fight/flight system, our survival mode, and helps us find relief and safety in our bodies. It uses a "bottom - up" method of movement to help the healing process, that can be used with "top - down" practices, such as journaling and therapy.Michelle talks about the benefits, the process, the words to use and the pressure points to focus on. She also does a full guided practice for us to participate in. (25:08) ** DISCLAIMER: Do not participate if you're driving or need to be fully awake/aware. If your Christmas season has become too busy and chaotic, and the focus has swirled around twinkling lights and mounds of presents, then it may be time to refocus your energy into a more faith-based, slow-paced Christmas season. As a Christian, Joy battles the same struggles to make her kids happy and do ALL of the things during the holidays, as well as balance her need for peace and spiritual connection. It's the time of year that should be overflowing with carols and nativities, but gets overridden with "stuff". In this episode, Joy talks about embracing the season of Advent, and practical ways to bring that into the Christmas season -- the hope, peace, joy and love. She talks about practical ways to connect with the sacred to bring the focus back to faith in Jesus. She then explores how our culture is hyper-secular, and how other cultures around the world focus more on small gift-giving traditions and bigger family and spiritual practices.Let's dive into changing our holidays to support us, lessen our chaos and bring our focus back to our faith.Check back on Sundays through Advent for weekly meditations on hope, peace, joy and love to help support you through this season.Resources mentioned in the episode:Focus on the Family Advent Journey: hereWomen Living Well Ministries: hereFor Spotify members:Song for Advent: hereAdvent with Sacred Ordinary Days: hereGod's love was revealed among us this way, God sent His one and only Son into the world so that we might live through him.1 John 4:9Connect with Joy at The Divorce Confidante:To find out more about working with a divorce coach and learning to heal and recover after divorce, connect at The Divorce Confidante website and book a free strategy call:www.divorce-confidante.comConnect with Joy:on Instagramon LinkedInFind additional resources from Joy and other authors in the No-Problem Parenting book, available on Amazon.Check out Joy's Amazon recommendations at The Divorce Confidante Shop Everything from books to journaling, yoga to mom's must-haves, and so much more.
Are you too eager to fix a problem ..... even if it's not yours to fix? Do you say "sorry" for things you had nothing to do with? Or feel responsible for something out of your control? Well, welcome to the club.As moms, we often feel like it's our job to do more, fix more, say "yes" to more, and we end up trying to "keep the peace" at the expense of our personal peace. It's a lie to not speak up or find our voice in our co-parenting relationships. But you can take the power back. You can learn to be flexible for the needs of your children, but allow your co-parent to do his part as a parent, not relying on you to be amenable at the detriment of yourself. Our guest, Mikki Gardner, is a life and conscious parent coach who helps women co-parent with more confidence. Her approach allows you to protect your well-being and be flexible. It allows you to speak up, hold boundaries, and create calm. It's time to reclaim your freedom and become a "recovering" people-pleasing co-parent.In this episode, Mikki dives into the lie of people-pleasing and her framework to create calm from the chaos. I'm pretty sure if we take a good look at our spending habits there are some places that we can tighten up our budget.Going through a divorce can create a lot of uncertainty with money and financial stability. By doing a "no-spend" challenge for a few days or even a few weeks, it's an opportunity to get back on track, find where some spending leaks may be occurring and help you create a manageable budget. It may even be a great time to stop emotional spending and develop an appreciation for those things we already have.Doing this challenge with your kids can help teach them how to spend and how to save. As kids get older, we want to make sure they have a good handle on money. A "no-spend" challenge is a great opportunity to ditch the overwhelm of managing a budget as well as increase your savings and decrease your debts!Join in the money-savings fun!Check out a one-week challenge worksheet at divorce-confidante.comConnect with Joy:Find additional resources from Joy and other authors in the No-Problem Parenting book, available on Amazon.
