Kelly Kix it this week with Dawn Bryant, who dives into her life's biggest goal of making a mark; not by having a light shown upon herself, but by seeing other people find the light within themselves and shining bright. This goal is achieved through the variety of ways Dawn inspires others and touches the lives of people she meets every day. There is also a ribbon that weaves through her life that continues to remind her of the importance of living big. Tracie McBride was Dawn's teenage BFF and was abducted from her military post while Dawn was on the phone with her in 1995. The last thing she heard her friend say was, "I can't right now, I'm on a long distance phone call..." the line went dead. The next day, Dawn learned from Tracie's mom that Tracie was missing. The FBI and other law enforcement agencies visited Dawn and flew her to the Army base. Days later, they found Tracie's body. Dawn walks us through her experience, shares stories of Tracie, navigates some of the grief and guilt. Expresses the importance of focusing not on the what if's, but on the what now... live out her life filled with light, stepping forward and keep momentum shining light into others lives from the inside (see that full circle into Dawn's biggest life goal). The gals also chat about other great topics including: The "Magical Red Door" aka Bodies by Burgoon that started Dawn down the path of her wellness transformation. Wellness is more than physical fitness, it is also mental fitness. Dawn was featured in People magazine in 2013 for her physical transformation of losing over 100 lbs, but more powerful was the mental transformation from within. The world looks at physicality, but often overlooks that mental health manifests itself in the shape of our body (emotional eating or not eating, etc.). We need to address wellness as a way of life. Delicious Cooking! "Sweat Minnesota" / "Sweat United" - Collaboration is more powerful than competition. We are stronger together. Callie, the adorable Jack Russell Terrier (is it even a podcast if we don't talk about fur-babies).
Kelly Kix welcomes Angie Norvitch (aka Linebacker Barbie) back for a fun rapid-fire pinball-esque episode! The gals hit on a variety of topics that stitch together effortlessly, but at times can also make one pause to wonder how they get from point A to Z :) Nelson of the North Adventures and Updates! The "Puppy Blues" is Real - Awareness for Potential Puppy Owners More Summer Road-trip Tales Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives Elite Jordan Shoes, Raffles, the Dreaded Shoe Crease FanGals Questions of the Day Answers Reviewed (Nic Breezy for the winning responses this week!) Sprinkling of other Current Events / Celebrity "Stuff" Invited into THE Lindsay Guentzel's Kitchen Have a beautiful week everyone!

FanGals is excited to be back after a beautiful mid summer break! Kelly Kix welcomes back Lindsay Guentzel to chat it up about recent summer road trips and traveling; the excitement and anxiety that comes with the lead up and return home from traveling with tips to maximize the excitement while minimizing the anxiety. Being our "best self" or a different us while on vacation vs when we return home. How do we continue to be that same person we love when we return home. The gals also dive into an emotional conversation surrounding grief and loss, but in a more non traditional sense of grieving and loss. The grief of lost opportunities and the grief of letting go of friendships. Knowing when a broken relationship is worth saving, reaching out to connect. Allowing people to show up for you in times of need. We end the episode with gratitude for what this podcast has done, brought together some incredible people for deeper and different conversations to be shared much broader than would have been if FanGals didn't exist. Grateful for everyone who has been a guest, a supporter and listener along the way and those who are yet to come! Thank you!
Kelly Kix welcomes Lindsay Guentzel, former radio producer / host who is now a food writer and can be seen on a variety of TV shows whipping up delicious goodies! Lindsay walks through the inspiration behind one of her recent writings "Languishing About". Being busy, doing stuff. But not feeling fulfilled, motivated or thriving. Especially this feeling as we begin stepping out from the pandemic; asking ourselves "did I do enough, what did I accomplish". Kelly and Lindsay also discuss the topics of overall mental health, being dreamers, feeling fulfilled, "strong vs. skinny", dating, the struggles and frustrations associated with dating a guy with the classic "Peter Pan Syndrome", unfair judgements towards "the other woman", choosing to leave a relationship to focus on growth and happiness in your life, life changes, giving grace, and as always... so much more!
Continuing our #FanGals Mental Health Matters series during this Mental Health Awareness Month, Kelly Kix welcomes Heather Petri to discuss parenting children through mental health crisis / dx / challenges / illnesses. Mental Health isn't something we generally find in parenting books. Many parents are suffering and struggling in silence while trying to parent children through their mental health journey. It can be a very exhausting and lonely space for parents as there continues to be so much shame and stigma associated with mental health. Heather shares her very raw and real experiences in navigating her sons mental health crisis and parenting in all the stages of his growth. What she did right, what she may have done differently, what she learned from her experiences, etc. Heather also shares information about organizations who can help those who are also navigating this path. Kelly and Heather also dive into the problematic "Good Vibes Only" narrative and why it's important to focus on "Real Vibes Only". Good Vibes Only, Toxic Positivity, tend to eliminate the real shit we go through in life. "Hustle" and "Fake it 'til You Make it" pushes this Go Go Go mentality, not allowing us to pause and appreciate where you're at and who you are in the moments. When you're real, you honor yourself. When trying to live in the good vibes only space, you aren't honoring yourself and your health. Hustle can be good, but not at the cost of living in the moment, not at the cost of our mental health, not at the cost of our relationships, not at the cost of looking around to see what's precious in the moments.
Continuing with our #FanGals focus on Mental Health Awareness this month, Kelly Kix welcomes back Rubette Sal Spice to dive deep into her personal experiences seeking assistance to identify, dx and treat things impacting her mental health and life in general. The importance of finding the right fit in a therapist, advocating for yourself and how great you can feel when you get the right "help" (whether via therapy, medication or combination of the two). The gals also do a quick recap of the NFL Draft, a new exciting opportunity for Sal (still a bit "Top Secret"), Only Fans "Fan Connections" in public spaces, dating, sexting, sex toys, social media etiquette, etc.
Kelly Kix invites Angie Norvitch in for a bonus episode to discuss 'Social Media Boundaries'. Note: this is regarding personal social media, not business accounts (that would be an entire episode in itself). Social media can be an amazing place to connect, build and grow relationships. Direct Messages (DM's) can be a place to take conversations a bit further and find "your peeps" and maybe even genuinely connect with others. The key is to not abuse the DM's. See the DM space as the persons individual "personal space" that you are entering. Be respectful, kind, nice. Refrain from being unpleasant or rude... you can simply scroll on by. Is social media the new dating app? Is social media too impersonal? Men in the DM's... it's a small world, guys. Copy / paste to multiple recipients. Social media comes across as minimal effort when trying to get someones attention. Unsolicited nudes... why? Disappearing messages and snapchats are a no-no, it comes across super sketchy. What is meant by "talking to themselves" in my DM's. The conversation will continue as we begin inviting "A Few Good Men" in to discuss these and more topics!
May is Mental Health Awareness Month. A perfect time for Kelly Kix to welcome Alli Elise, a licensed graduate social worker / clinical case manager to join #FanGals for a discussion around mental health and some of the unique challenges facing people of all ages as we transition again into another "new norm". Going from "fully open" to lock down and phasing ourselves back into opening up again. We dive a bit into the complexities the various stages of the pandemic as well as the civil unrest within our communities has created or intensified various mental health issues like anxiety, PTSD, depression, etc. The gals also spend time chatting about growing up, special childhood memories with grandparents, changing career paths, strong women, social media and much more. You are NOT alone. Suicide Prevention Hotline 800-273-8255 Additional Resources Available via the Suicide Prevention Resource Center: https://www.sprc.org/states/minnesota

A total badass boss babe who embodies strength, talent, intelligence, compassion and beauty... Kat Perkins! Kelly Kix welcomes a fellow "small town gal" in this weeks electric episode of FanGals. Kat was raised in the small town of Scranton, North Dakota and was writing music and performing before she hit double digits. Upon graduating high school, she landed a role with the Medora Musical, in the heart of the badlands. This experience changed the trajectory of her life and Kat decided to skip college at that time and head to Minneapolis to pursue her musical passion. In Minneapolis is where she continued to write, record and start a band, Scarlet Haze. One of the greatest highlights from her time with Scarlet Haze came quickly when they won a battle of the bands competition and had the opportunity to open for a sold out Bon Jovi concert! Another life changing moment for Kat came when she was discovered by NBC's 'THE VOICE' via a viral video of an impromptu jam session at the Amsterdam airport. Kat was thrust into the national public eye and became a fan favorite with her incredible performances (and personality) in Season 6, where she landed in the top 4 with Adam Levine as her coach. Kat walks us through her behind the scenes experiences. Kat is always on the move, dreaming up new and exciting ways to provide opportunities, bring joy and give back. Following her time on 'The Voice', she wanted to use her new voice and platform to do something beyond what she had done so far...this was the birth of Kat Perkins 'Rising Star Camp'. Kat also created the Rising Star Foundation as a means to provide even more opportunities for those in need financially. During the pandemic we were all looking for joy while our lives were changing so drastically. Kat dreamed up 'Curbside Concerts with Kat Perkins', where she loaded up her gear into her truck and began bringing joy in the form of musical performances to neighborhoods around the Twin Cities. More Information on Rising Star Camp or to Donate to the Foundation: www.RisingStarFoundation.org More Information on Curbside Concerts with Kat Perkins: www.KatPerkinsMusic.com
