In this episode, Tara Eschenroeder delves into the concept of "rewilding" as a return to our natural, instinctual state of being. She defines rewilding as reconnecting with the innate wisdom within us, much like how trees grow or fireflies communicate effortlessly. Tara shares her practices for rediscovering this inner compass, including journaling, movement, discussion, and time in nature, all aimed at peeling back layers of societal conditioning and distraction. She emphasizes the role of childlike play and curiosity as pathways to reconnect with our wild, intuitive selves, drawing inspiration from the way children approach life with imagination and openness. The episode also explores the importance of acknowledging and transforming inherited generational patterns, finding balance between disciplined practices and devotion to one's higher self, and embracing community as a space for authentic connection and growth. Tara's insights inspire listeners to embrace curiosity, rediscover their wildness, and live with greater authenticity and joy.--Tara (Becky) Eschenroeder is a 500-hour E-RYT, RCYT, YACEP, certified coach, self-published author, and an inspiring yogi recognized among the top three yoga instructors by Richmond Magazine. Rooted in Asheville, NC, Tara leads workshops, retreats, and classes nationwide, empowering students to listen within and trust their unique paths. With credentials in Psychology, Elementary Education, and coaching, her approach blends studied expertise with intuitive guidance, offering a space for exploration, self-discovery, and authentic expression. Greetings Glocal Citizens! This week on the podcast I'm taking you along with me on one of the stops on my winter tour in the US. Last month my travels took me to Missoula, Montana for the state rivalry game to see my nephew's team, the University of Montana Grizzlies (https://gogriz.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/jonathan-brown/6563) taking on Montana State. The Grizzlies were unable to overcome their rivals, but all was not lost. I met a fellow Ghanaian, Gabriel Ansah and his family and through this interview I get to share yet another glocal perspective on living, working and playing in a home away from “home.” Gabriel Ansah is a fitness trainer and proud owner of 406AMCREW, a brand promoting positivity through fitness. Gabriel spent the first 17 years of his life in his native Tema, Ghana before traveling to the United States for a high school exchange program in Missoula where he currently resides with his wife and two sons. After graduating from the University of Montana where studied management information systems, he discovered that his true passion was in the pursuit of fitness and motivating others to achieve their fitness goals. While leading the 406AMCREW, Gabe is also part of the coaching staff for local soccer team Missoula Surf. He's the director of player development for the club and the coach of its U9 team. In the summer of 2022, he also joined the University of Montana soccer coaching staff. As a Lululemon Ambassador, Gabe is able to extend his reach into communities as a representative of the brand, helping to build a community of like-minded individuals who share the company's values and vision for a healthy and active lifestyle. Be sure to listen in and learn how this partnership with Lululemon afforded Gabe the opportunity to give back in a big way to his community in Tema last December. Where to find Gabe? Ya girl is a Lululemon Ambassador! To say I am honored, excited, still somewhat shocked, grateful, proud, and humbled all at the same time would be an understatement. This has been a journey that's been 6 years in the making. As I reflect on this time in the fitness industry, the highs, the lows, being the squeaky wheel, and rebuilding during a pandemic, one thing that stands out is remembering your WHY and letting that guide your goals, vision, and motivations. Trust in the timing of your life, what's for you will never pass you so if it's meant for you, it's going to happen. Let's talk about it!

We even welcome a little visitor who joins us during this episode. TUNE IN: APPLE PODCASTS | SPOTIFY | STITCHER As the daughter of a professional boxer, a competitive athlete, theatre major, and fitness professional, Ashley has uniquely experienced a myriad of physical and mental training philosophies, and has seen what works and what doesn't from various points of view. Her background and upbringing have taught her to successfully navigate failure, fear, and discrimination, and use adversity to redefine her own success. Through the work of her non-profit, The Courage Campaign, Ashley now aims to share what she's learned and help others to unlock passion, invoke courage, and reinvent achievement.. HER BACKGROUND Ashley talks about growing up with a father who was a professional boxer and speaks to learning about the dedication, respect, teamwork, and training that went into her father's work. She also talks about her father's full-time job as a mail carrier and the hours that he put into his job during the day followed by training and boxing in the evening. She also speaks about her mother who went on to get two masters degrees. Ashley was extremely driven and motivated by her parents. Ashley speaks about her move to Boston and the resiliency that her parents instilled in her and how that helped shape her journey. HER WHY Ashely talks about her why which she explains comes from so many different places but ultimately she never wants anyone who looks like her to be made to feel the way that she has been made to feel at various points in her life - from feeling small to self hatred to lack of confidence. In launching The Courage Campaign in the beginning she didn't aim for it to cater to kids but in her fitness work she realized that being in Boston, her clients were mainly white women and her work didn't feel connected to her why. She had to take a step back to realize that she wanted to focus her work on a population of people that were super vulnerable and she decided that she wanted to focus her work in schools. ON HER STARTUP JOURNEY Ashley speaks to her journey as very much falling into place. She speaks to knowing exactly what her why was and being unapologetic about who she is which created a lot of connections for her in terms of people reaching out and knowing exactly what they were going to get. She says that authenticity was the key for her. She also talks about fitness as such a great opportunity to be meeting others from all walks of life. We discuss the idea of simply getting started and putting one foot in front of the other and not necessarily having all of the answers. ON STARTING A NON-PROFIT Ashley discusses that hurdles are relative and that starting a non-profit, while taking a lot of bandwidth, is not necessarily hard. She discusses simply taking it step by step in determining what needs to be done and having the patience to wait for the approvals and paperwork during the process. ABOUT THE COURAGE CAMPAIGN Ashley speaks about The Courage Campaign and some of the impact that she gets to create. She speaks to being able to go into a room with kids and see them shine because they leave behind the normal classroom baggage. She talks about things that surprise and delight her in the process such as seeing a kid's physical fitness gains transforming over time. Watching kids do their pushups and burpees and listening to the logic behind why they want to be what they want to be. She talks about how school can beat kids down naturally but that she works to encourage kids to always find their magic and continue on despite this. We discuss the joy and excitement that comes with working with kids in that manner. DIVERSITY IN WELLNESS Ashley and I discuss a goal that she is setting out to achieve as a Lululemon Ambassador which is diversity in wellness specifically in the Boston fitness scene. We discuss the lack of inclusivity and diversity that naturally exists in the Boston fitness scene and how homogenous it can be in terms of instructors, clientele, clothing sizes and even the employees who are working at various studios. Ashley began to wonder how she was the anomaly. She asked where the instructors and young professionals were who looked like her because she knew it certainly wasn't for lack of talent. She realized that those people are there but they don't want to be in these white spaces because they weren't comfortable. So she asked how to begin to solve this and realizes that part of the reason it is so hard to solve is because there are so many layers that run so deep that it feels as if you can't get started. She stresses that when it comes to fitness or wellness no person should ever be excluded and believes that we can still create opportunity for everyone by starting through conversation and diversity in training and is excited for some things that will be coming down the pipeline with Lululemon in that regard. FINDING SUPPORT IN BUSINESS & WOMEN SUPPORTING WOMEN Ashley speaks to seeing that for every person that has made her feel that she didn't belong there are five people that have disputed that very fact. She talks about being able to build her community and embrace every person that has been a part of it. We discuss Ashley's hope for women to find more respect for the way other people do things and supporting the differences between women and not having to connect because we're the same. She also speaks to respecting boundaries, wanting to see more women walking the walk and to be able to see more BIPOC women being a part of that conversation. We also speak to simply being on a human level and making mistakes and having humility and being able to apologize and own it. NEWS AND UPDATES Ashley speaks about her podcast, The Courage Campaign and some of the upcoming work she has coming down the pipeline and to be sure to follow along to stay updated! links + resources WHERE TO FIND ASHLEY website on instagram on instagram PODCASt: conversations in courage GET INSPIRED THE CC SPOTIFY PLAYLIST BOOK CLUB reco Elaine Welteroth, More Than Enough THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS FLODESK: GET 50% OFF YOUR SUBSCRIPTION BY CLICKING HERE

Joining me is the beautiful, the brave, the ball of energy that is Siu Lim - she's a single mom of 4, a Certified Pilates Instructor, a Content Creator and also a Lululemon Ambassador. This episode was an emotional one for me as I listened through Siu Lim's story on her reversion to Islam, her experience with polygamy, her eventual divorce but also how all of this shaped the strong woman that she is today. By the end of it, my respect for Siu Lim increased a million fold and made me love her even more. (This episode is brought to you by aaplus.co)

Welcome to Episode 8 of the WELL + WILD Podcast. This week we have a super interesting guest with a fascinating story. Doug Robson, originally from Botswana started out his career in the banking industry, he soon realised it wasn't really fulfilling him, so he left and found himself in the world of stunt performers! He has since performed stunts in Guardians of the Galaxy, Star Wars, Game of Thrones and Kingsman. More recently, he became interested in Yoga and created his own blend of Yoga called ‘Warrior Yoga', a mix of martial arts and yoga. Doug teaches regularly at Psycle and Peckham Levels. He is also a Lululemon Ambassador. We discuss his motivations for leaving the banking industry, why we should challenge ourselves to go after our passions and what makes us happy instead of the perceived ‘safe' option. I was fascinated to hear more about what a stunt performer does and I quizzed him about his experiences such as getting set alight! What an incredible discussion, please enjoy the episode and thanks so much for listening! I'd be very grateful if you could please leave me a review if you enjoyed this episode, it helps me get more and more amazing guests on here for you to listen to. Thank you! Hello friends and welcome to the Coach Jenny Show and a brand new series called Success Warriors. This new series includes podcasts that share the stories of four every day athletes and their journey to achieving success. These are shorter 15-30 min podcasts that deliver inspiring stories of how they got started, the lessons learned along the way, and tips and tools that helped them succeed. The Success Warriors podcast includes athletes that I coach, and that are in my Challenge program, which is an annual program membership that includes motivating fitness and healthy habits challenges throughout the year to maintain motivation, teach you how to take the guesswork out of training and fitness, conquer your goals, and support you every step of the way. You can learn all about the Challenge 2018 program and sign up at CoachJenny.com. Use the code “MakeItHappen2018” to save $10 on membership. The first Success Warrior is Jodi Friedman who is a mother of twins, wife, business owner, Lululemon Ambassador, and a relatively new runner. Our paths crossed when I began to coach her a year ago. The one word I would use to describe her journey to success this year is “open.” She was open to changing the way she trained, and it opened a path to learning, discovery, and improvement. I hope you enjoy the show.
