Ghosts!  And TITT Talks' Tales of the Supernatural!   Just in time for Halloween!  We've gathered around our imaginary spooky fire to share our own personal “ghost” stories - none of which can be explained by any rhyme, reason, or scientific data.  But, if you are afraid of the dark or tales of spirits unknown, fear not!  Contrary to what we thought when we were young babies, many of our experiences with the supernatural are quite beautiful and have strengthened our bonds with loved ones, whether they are still here on Earth with us or whether they are looking down upon us with love from above.  We hope you enjoy this very special episode, and we hope to hear some of your tales too!     About TITT TALKS   TITT Talks was “conceived” in January of 2020 during one of TITT's many friend/family (“framily”) get-togethers.  In conversation, it came to light that there was a lack of representation of womxn like TITT in, among other forms of media, the podcast world.  In particular, there was no podcast that TITT could subscribe to that would enable them to feel seen, heard, or understood as modern Asian Pacific American working mothers.   The womxn of TITT Talks knew that this void was one they could fill by sharing their voices and experiences through their casual conversations, which were already taking place on a routine basis.   Thank you for the positive feedback we have received since our launch in early June of 2020.  We are delighted to hear that we are bringing you content that you can finally relate to as mothers, professionals, millennials, and Asian Pacific Americans. To our listeners of this special How SHE Built This series, our mission has always been to connect with other modern womxn through the lens of our own experiences so we thought this series would be a perfect fit.  We have inadvertently jumped on this journey of growing our own business as entrepreneurs and thought these conversations would not only be empowering, inspiring and refreshing for us, but for our listeners as well.    ____________________________________________  CONNECT WITH US    Sign up for our NEWSLETTER – TITT Talks Tea  IG: titt_talks  FACEBOOK: TITT Talks  E-MAIL: TITTtalks@gmail.com  YOUTUBE: TITT Talks Podcast  ____________________________________________  WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU   What topics would you like to hear discussed on the show? Hey everyone! It's Isa! I am your host for this mini segment where we check in with each other on what is going on in the world, what's the TITT Tea? This will cover the things you are most likely talking with your girlfriends about and can span any subject. Today we are talking about the Facebook/Instagram Outage, the impacts of social media in general on us and our kids, and if Facebook/Instagram execs are putting profits over people. This episode was inspired by The Daily podcast, The Wall Street Journal, NPR and various articles on the subject.   This was a little spur of the moment, so if you hear a random phone call in the background, or even a little echo at the end... hey we are working moms and this is what we do best! Multi-task. Take a little mid-day break with us, and let's talk about it!   ____________________________________________  ABOUT TITT TALKS   TITT Talks was “conceived” in January of 2020 during one of TITT's many friend/family (“framily”) get-togethers. Thank you for the positive feedback we have received since our launch in early June 2020.  We are delighted to hear that we are bringing you content that you can finally relate to as mothers, professionals, millennials, and Asian Pacific Americans.   ____________________________________________ CONNECT WITH US    Sign up for our NEWSLETTER – TITT Talks Tea  IG: titt_talks  FACEBOOK: TITT Talks  E-MAIL: TITTtalks@gmail.com  YOUTUBE: TITT Talks Podcast  ____________________________________________

Join us for another episode of TITT Talks: How She Built This! This week, we are featuring Ladies Of Sound (@ladiesofsound.la) founders Maricel Sison (@msison) and Samantha Garong (@sammi.g_).  This spin-off series is meant to intimately discuss the journey of building a business as a female entrepreneur. These types of conversations inspire us and we hope they do the same for you as well.   For the first time in the HSBT series all four TITTS sit down in the Ladies of Sound headquarters with Maricel and Sammi as they simultaneously produce this special episode and take us through their experience on how they found a passion for music and throwing events, which led them on a path to creating space and a community for women in the music industry.  Ladies of Sound is the official women's division of the Beat Junkies Institute of Sound. Their platform is made to support women in the DJ and music industry.   Utilizing their talents, they have worked through challenges, have had some big wins, pandemic pivots and talk about all of these experiences with TITT Talks.  In an otherwise male dominated world, Ladies of Sound has worked from an 8% enrollment of women in the Beat Junkies Institute of Sound classes to 56% as of 2021.   Listen in to hear more about their inspiring story as minority women entrepreneurs creating opportunities for other women and inspiring a future generation of women in music.     It has always been our mission to connect with other modern women through the lens of our experience. Welcome BACK to the TITT Talks: How She Built This series! Season 3 pops off featuring the co-founders of Bitty Bao! This spin-off series is meant to intimately discuss the journey of building a business as a female entrepreneur in a 20-ish minute segment. These types of conversations inspire us here at TITT Talks, and we hope they do the same for you as well.   This week, we bring to you two hard-working, hustling moms – LuLu and Lacey, the creators of Bitty Bao (https://www.bittybao.com)!  Bitty Bao is a collection of Chinese Bilingual Board books that are a wonderful resource to opening your children’s eyes to the diversity in this world.  Their story, in their words:    “A random 11pm text from Lulu lit up Lacey’s phone one December evening. It read, “So crazy thought, I want to write children’s bilingual Chinese books. Starting to form ideas and such, a series - like the Spanish series you follow. @lillibros - they’re inspiring! What are your thoughts on this? Too crazy? Totally feasible? Want to be my illustrator? Let’s do crazy together!” Who sends an 11pm text asking someone out of the blue to make a book series with them? But more importantly, who says yes to such an endeavor under those circumstances? Lulu and Lacey do. And so began our journey. We look forward to showing you highlights of our labor-of-love book making process, road to publishing, and all the fun we have along the way. (Mostly in the middle of the night after all our bitty babes are in bed and our houses are finally quiet!) We are so proud to announce our book series (in its infancy), #BittyBao - bitty books for bitty babes!   Join us as TLo takes you behinds the scenes as LuLu and Lacey tell their story about how they built their business (the ups and the downs) and how they are continuing to evolve and grow, all while being Mamas.   It has always been our mission to connect with other modern womxn through the lens of our experience. We hope you enjoy this new series as much as we do! ____________________________________________ ABOUT TITT TALKS   TITT Talks was “conceived” in January of 2020 during one of TITT’s many friend/family (“framily”) get-togethers. Thank you for the positive feedback we have received since our launch in early June 2020.  We are delighted to hear that we are bringing you content that you can finally relate to as mothers, professionals, millennials, and Asian Pacific Americans. We’d like to share a message with you about the 2020 Census. The Census is our American way of counting everyone living in the United States to determine how resources are allocated and how decisions are made. Decisions like funding for schools, roads, public services, and healthcare. Businesses also use this data to decide whether to open up new stores in our neighborhoods. This week, along with other fellow Asian organizations across the country, member shows of the Asian Podcast Network like TITT Talks are proud to participate in the 2020 Census Asian Week of Action. If you haven’t, take a moment to go to 2020census.gov to fill out yours for your household. This is our last chance for the next 10 years and the deadline is fast approaching. It just takes minutes and can make a decade of impact. We also encourage you to check in with your family and friends to make sure they do the same. Let’s make sure the voices of our amazing community are heard loud and clear and participate in the 2020 Census. Let’s Get Counted and shape our future, here and now. #AAPI2020 #CountUsIn ____________________________________________ ABOUT TITT TALKS TITT Talks was “conceived” in January of 2020 during one of TITT’s many friend/family (“framily”) get-togethers. Thank you for the positive feedback we have received since our launch in early June 2020.  We are delighted to hear that we are bringing you content that you can finally relate to as mothers, professionals, millennials, and Asian Pacific Americans. ____________________________________________CONNECT WITH US  Sign up for our NEWSLETTER – TITT Talks Tea IG: titt_talks FACEBOOK: TITT Talks E-MAIL: TITTtalks@gmail.com YOUTUBE: TITT Talks Podcast ____________________________________________ WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU  What topics would you like to hear discussed on the show? In July 2014, Eric Garner, a 43 year-old unarmed black man, was killed when a New York City police officer placed him in a chokehold after Garner questioned the officer as to why he was being harassed. In March 2018, Stephon Clark, a 22 year-old unarmed black man, was shot and killed by two officers of the Sacramento Police Department in the backyard of his grandmother's house while he had a phone in his hand. The officers stated that they shot Clark, firing 20 rounds, believing that he had pointed a gun at them. Police found only a cell phone on him. In September 2018, an off-duty Dallas Police Department patrol officer entered the apartment of Botham Jean, a 26 year-old unarmed black man, and fatally shot him. The officer said that she had entered the apartment believing it was her own and that she shot Jean, believing he was a burglar. In February 2020, Ahmaud Arbery, an unarmed 25-year-old black man, was fatally shot in Glynn County, Georgia, while jogging. Arbery had been pursued and confronted by two white men, a father and son, who were armed and driving a pickup truck.  The father was a former police officer, and his son shot Arbery at point-blank range with a shotgun.  The event was recorded on video by a third white man, who was following Arbery in a second vehicle.   No arrests were made until May 7, two days after the video of Arbery’s shooting went viral. In March 2020, Breonna Taylor, an unarmed 26-year-old black woman, was fatally shot by Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) officers. The officers forced entry into her apartment in Louisville, Kentucky under the authority of a no-knock search warrant. Gunfire was exchanged between the LMPD officers and Taylor's boyfriend, who believed that the officers were intruders. The LMPD officers fired over twenty shots, and Taylor was killed after being shot eight times. In May 2020, George Floyd, a 46-year-old unarmed black man, was killed in Minneapolis, Minnesota during an arrest for allegedly using a counterfeit bill. A white police officer knelt on Floyd's neck for almost nine minutes while Floyd was handcuffed and lying face down in the street, begging for his life and repeatedly saying "I can't breathe."  These are only a fraction of the stories of which we know.  These stories are only a minuscule fraction of the abuses that have actually occurred against the Black community as the result of senseless police brutality. We are Asian American Pacific Islander women.  While we face our own societal obstacles based on our race alone, we absolutely recognize that those disadvantages will never compare to the fear that the Black community faces on a daily basis.  We do not live in fear that we, or our loved ones, will be killed for asking why a police officer has pulled us over, while going on a jog, for using a cell phone, or while simply existing in our own homes. As women of color, as mothers, and as humans, we cannot remain silent when confronted with the reality that any person has to live with this fear.  We have an obligation to proactively contribute to positive change, whether by marching, donating, signing petitions, educating ourselves on Black history and experiences, and speaking out against racism in any form.  We unequivocally believe that Black lives matter and that there cannot peace until there is justice for all. In this episode, we discuss our thoughts on the current climate of race relations in America and our call to action in light of the most recent atrocities committed against the Black community.  We hope you will share yours with us as well. ____________________________________________WAYS TO GET INVOLVED Participate in #BLACKOUTDAY2020 on July 7, 2020.
