We discuss Disneyland's 70th anniversary announcements and the return of Paint the Night, and talk about a brief Haunted Mansion PR gaffe (and that $35 Bride sipper!) Next, we review some new books and talk a bit about the new Star Wars Beastiary, and then we talk about Disney collecting in general, including news about an upcoming Ron Howard signing (at which Jeff hopes to get his Haunted Mansion album signed.)  Our thoughts and prayers are with anyone affected by the horrible Los Angeles wildfires, which we know has threatened many of our friends and listeners in Southern California. Donate Here - https://bit.ly/minnmaxasheville Breaking in for an emergency update here: MinnMax's "Big Community Meetup" in Asheville, North Carolina was scheduled for this Saturday, October 5th, but nature had other plans. Due to the devasting impact of Hurricane Helene on the area, we're forced to cancel the meetup. Please contact your airline/housing to get a refund and help spread the word to any friends who were going to attend. We're using this unfortunate situation as an opportunity to raise money for the community, which is struggling to get fresh water and electricity at the moment and will be struggling to rebuild for quite some time. We've launched a campaign to raise money for Americares and specifically their efforts in North Carolina, all donations go directly to the certified nonprofit. Here's a description from them: "Americares is responding to Hurricane Helene to get critical aid to those most impacted. Your tax-deductible gift to the U.S. Disaster Relief Fund will help ensure Americares has the resources required to respond effectively and quickly to natural disasters and extreme weather events with medicines, medical supplies and other humanitarian aid for people in crisis and continue to help survivors rebuild their lives." Donate Here - https://bit.ly/minnmaxasheville We'll be pushing the charity drive all week and hosting a charity stream this Saturday from 7-11pm Central - the time we would have been at the community meetup. The stream will be on MinnMax's YouTube channel. We'll get together to play some games online, feel free to leave suggestions in the comments below for any online multiplayer games you want to see us play. Assuming the town will slowly be rebuilt, the plan is we'll return to Asheville in 2025 for the "Big Community Meetup." Additionally, we'll still be hosting a marathon "Give To The Max" charity stream later this November for a nonprofit in Minneapolis. Stay tuned for more info surrounding that event. Our hearts go out to everybody caught in the path of the storm and a huge thanks to everybody in the MinnMax community for understanding and donating to this cause. https://bit.ly/minnmaxasheville This podcast is powered by Pinecast.

Michael Nyenhuis, CEO of UNICEF USA joins Mike Shanley to discuss the work UNICEF does both in the USA and globally. Michael discusses the various partnerships between UNICEF USA and governments, local organizations, as well as private sectors. He highlights the importance of funding and explains why flexibility from donors is key, so that UNICEF can fund projects and spread resources where they are needed. Michael predicts what the aid and development landscape will look like in the next 5 years and why protecting and funding foreign aid programs globally is essential for support. Tune in to learn more about UNICEF USA and how organizations can support their mission to see that every child is healthy, educated, protected, and respected.  IN THIS EPISODE: [1:01] What is UNICEF's work globally and where does UNICEF USA fit into that work? [4:28] What is UNICEF's work with the vaccination campaign and the work they've done with Polio?  [7:40] What does UNICEF's partnerships with governments look like?  [10:05] How does UNICEF partner with local NGOs? [11:56] What are some of the most pressing needs for the current state of aid? [14:56] Does Michael see the role of NGOs changing and the way donors should look at their roles?  [18:56] What does Michael see as the opportunities for evolution or development with organizations funding mechanisms?  [21:00] Michael predicts what the aid and development landscape and market ecosystem will look like in 5 years.  [24:10] How does UNICEF see localization?  [27:01] How does UNICEF define what a local partner is?  [31:36] What is the importance of protecting and funding foreign aid programs globally?  [35:47] How do private sector partnerships come to be?  [41:46] Does Michael have any advice for smaller organizations that are seeking partnership with UNICEF? [45:10] What does Michael see as his role as CEO of UNICEF USA? [50:28] What does a typical day look like for Michael?  [52:23] How can leaders of NGOs be prepared for the uncertainty in the next 5-10 years? [55:00] What are Michael's thoughts on AI? KEY TAKEAWAYS:  Donors are needed that are willing to trust UNICEF to use resources where they are needed.  We have a responsibility as a wealthy country with resources to help those in other parts of the world who don't share in the riches that we have, and don't share the privileges and opportunities we've had.  We can't isolate ourselves and only care about the country we're in anymore. This is a global world and we are global citizens and neighbors.  The world has changed a lot and is changing faster all the time. We need to think about how we change systems, change policy, and change philanthropy to be more trust-based and more flexible to deal with the equity crisis that exists.  QUOTES: [1:29] “Our goal is to see that every child is healthy, educated, protected, and respected.” - Michael Nyenhuis [6:18] “UNICEF is the largest single supplier of vaccines in the world. We vaccinate 45% of the world's under five children every year with all the basic vaccines that they need.” - Michael Nyenhuis [30:29] “If the international NGOs don't see the local NGOs as competitors now for this resource, but truly as partners to help invest in and help grow and build capacity, then I think they can work together really well in order to attract the kinds of resources that can make a difference in their countries.” - Michael Nyenhuis RESOURCES: Humanitarian Aid for Children in Crisis | UNICEF USA Michael Nyenhuis's LinkedIn    Aid Market Podcast Aid Market Podcast YouTube BIOGRAPHY: Michael J. Devastation In Turkey & Syria As Earthquake Exacerbates Ongoing Crises In Region A devastating 7.8-magnitude earthquake rocked Turkey and Syria last Wednesday, in a region already at the center of the world's most pressing humanitarian crises. As of writing, the Associated Press reports a death toll surpassing 33,000. The New Humanitarian reports that the region has already been torn apart by war, conflict, economic crises, and a refugee crisis as the Syrian civil war has left much of Northwest Syria without a functioning government, instead controlled by militias, rebel factions, and other groups including Turkish and Kurdish forces. The on-the-ground reality has made moving aid and emergency response resources across the border extremely difficult. Yet, in some areas, NGOs and aid groups are the only form of search and rescue and disaster response resources available. Freezing temperatures and already haphazard infrastructure for those in Syria have made already dire situations worse. Across the border in Turkey, the government's response has been seen as lackluster as the death toll rises. Connecticut resources are being rallied in response to Hurricane Fiona. This hour, we hear about the relief effort being overseen by Stamford-based non-profit Americares, mobilizing a team on the ground in San Juan. Plus, Sammy Vega with the Coalition of Connecticut Puerto Rican Parades & Festivals Relief Committee discusses the fundraising effort they're overseeing. You can support these relief responses by donating to the Americares Hurricane Fiona Relief Fund, as well as the Coalition's Connecticut Helps Puerto Rico 2022 Fund. Navigate to the latter fund via CThelpsPR.org or CTayudaPR.org. The Coalition also recommends donating directly to Lions Clubs International Foundation, Taller Salud, Hospital del Niño, Para la Naturaleza and Casa Pueblo Adjuntas Puerto Rico. Plus, we discuss local lessons learned since the five-year anniversary of Hurricane Maria, when thousands of displaced people from Puerto Rico were welcomed in Connecticut. CREC's Aura Alvarado and UConn Associate Professor Dr. Charles Venator-Santiago discuss the importance of "one-stop" locations, like the one Alvarado helped get off the ground in Hartford after Hurricane Maria, ultimately welcoming hundreds of displaced families. Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin's Office tells Where We Live the city is ready to partner with community and Hartford groups to help families who may come here and also said “it's not yet clear that we will see anything like the large-scale relocations that we saw five years ago after Hurricane Maria.” New Haven Mayor Elicker's Office tells us, "We have had discussions across city departments and with several of our nonprofit and community partners so that we are prepared as a community to support those in need: whether that's families looking for emergency housing, individuals in need of healthcare, children entering our public schools, and other services and supports.” The Hartford Hispanic Health Council and Junta for Progressive Action in New Haven also told us they've been readying internal relief responses. Bruni Pizarro, executive director for Junta for Progressive Action in New Haven, recently co-authored a column on how Connecticut resettlement agencies are "underutilized." She wrote that many organizations like Junta "face uncertain and inadequate funding, imperiling their capacity to respond to future climate-related disasters."   GUESTS: Dr. Brenda Rivera-García: Senior Director, Latin America and Caribbean Programs for Americares Sammy Vega: President, CICD-Puerto Rican Parade in Hartford; Founding Member, Coalition of Connecticut Puerto Rican Parades & Festivals Relief Committee Aura Alvarado: Director of Communications and Community Relations, CREC Education Dr. Charles Venator-Santiago: Faculty Director, Puerto Rican Studies Initiative at the University of Connecticut Support the show: http://wnpr.org/donateSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

A baseball signed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has sold at auction for more than $50,000, a portion of which will go toward providing humanitarian aid to Ukrainians displaced by the nation's war with Russia, auctioneer RR Auction of Boston said Thursday. The winning bid for the Rawlings Major League baseball in the auction that closed Wednesday was more than three times what it was expected to sell for. RR Auction will donate its $15,000 cut of the sale, while seller Randy Kaplan will also donate an undisclosed portion of his proceeds, to provide humanitarian aid through the global nonprofit Americares. Kaplan is a well-known collector of baseballs signed by world leaders who rarely auctions his prized pieces. The winning bidder wished to remain anonymous, but was described by RR Auction as a “collector from the Midwest who is thrilled to have some of the funds go to the Ukraine relief effort." The ball is signed with black felt tip in Ukrainian Cyrillic and Latin letters. It is accompanied by a transmittal letter signed by Volodymyr Yelchenko, Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the United Nations. Documents signed by British naturalist Alfred Wallace, inventor Nikola Tesla, Albert Einstein and Founding Fathers John Hancock and John Adams also sold in the same auction. The Russian invasion of Ukraine has entered its third month with no end in sight, taking a heavy toll on the population. Many are asking how they can help. We'll answer that question today on MoneyWise. The U.N. estimates that more than two million Ukrainians are now refugees as they flee the violence in their country. Mostly women, children and elderly men, they have a critical need for basic commodities. The National Christian Foundation hasprepared a listof U.S based organizations mobilizing to provide that aid. These charities have already been approved to receive grants through NCF's Giving Funds. We'll talk about a handful of them here in no particular order. CHARITIES HELPING UKRAINIANS Aerial Recovery Group: This organization with former U.S. Military Special Operators now use their unique skills to assist people after natural and man-made disasters. They perform high-risk extractions of orphans and the most vulnerable who are in imminent danger from the Russian invasion and subsequent fighting. They've also set up a food and supply distribution network. That's the Aerial Recovery Group. AmeriCares: They provide support for refugees and migrants and they have an an emergency response team in Poland to support health services for families affected by the escalating humanitarian crisis in Ukraine. Their experts are coordinating large-scale shipments of medicine and relief supplies and mobilizing emergency medical teams to help in hospitals inside Ukraine. That's AmeriCares. International Rescue Committee: For nearly a century, this group has provided disaster relief around the world. That includesemergency aid, health and sanitation, and psychosocial support to refugees and migrants. On the ground in Poland, they're providing emergency support for families fleeing Ukraine, including economic assistance, survival supplies, and protection services. That's the International Rescue Committee. Medical Teams International: MTI provides life-saving medical care to people in crisis due to war or natural disasters. They provide care in frontline clinics, refugee camps, and remote villages. MTI says donations will allow them to coordinate with multiple partners to ship crucial medical supplies to Ukraine. That's Medical Teams International. Mission to Ukraine: They've been working in that country for 25 years serving women facing crisis pregnancies and children with disabilities each year and sharing the gospel. With the Russian invasion they're now providing food, medicine, diapers, heating oil, and emergency refugee resettlement and housing. That's Mission to Ukraine. Samaritan's Purse: Samaritan's Purse has a major presence in Ukraine. They've set up an emergency field hospital there with an operating room, intensive care unit and pharmacy. They've staffed the mobile facility with doctors and nurses who see 100 patients a day. They've also supplied 100 tons of relief materials, including medical supplies, hygiene kits, winter coats, blankets, and other items to help those fleeing the escalating conflict. That's Samaritan's Purse. Project C.U.R.E: The world's largest distributor of donated medical supplies, equipment, and services to doctors and nurses. In one week alone they shipped to Ukraine 10 tons of medical aid, including trauma supplies, airway kits, sutures, gloves, surgical gowns, and surgical supplies. That's Project C.U.R.E. World Relief: They work with churches to provide food, shelter, and supplies to those in the most vulnerable situations. They're helping to resettle Ukrainian refugees and providing assistance to those already in the U.S. who are desperately trying to reunite with their families. Many of these organizations are faith-based, providing not only basic human services, but also spreading the Gospel. Some are more keenly focused on sharing God's Word, such as theAmerican Bible Society. They've had a strong presence in Ukraine since the end of World War II. For the last decade, they've focused on expanding Bible-based trauma healing work in Ukraine. They're now working close to the frontlines helping families who've lost loved ones and are searching for truth and comfort during the ongoing conflict. There are many more worthy organizations providing desperately needed help in Ukraine. We just couldn't name them all. Again, you'll find a more complete listhere. On today's program, Rob also answers listener questions: ●Does it make sense to sell a newly-built home? ●What is the best way to start investing on behalf of young pastors in training? ●What can a person do as a government employee to invest for the future? This week we've got a blockbuster panel featuring three of the most experienced and insightful veterans of the luxury world: Karen Katz (former President & CEO of the Neiman Marcus Group, Steve Sadove (former Chairman and CEO of Saks) and Oliver Chen (Managing director and senior equity research analyst at Cowen and Company). We cover a lot of territory, first trying to align on a working definition of what "luxury" really means today and how luxury was evolving pre-COVID. Then we shift into what's next, including our dream team's quick takes on luxury re-commerce, the role of the in-store experience, the importance of multi-brand retail (online and off), sustainability, exclusivity, storytelling and more. We wrap up getting everyone's view on why it's so hard for legacy brands to innovate and  whether .com spin-outs make any sense at all.But first we open up with the top retail stories that caught our attention this past week, with a big focus on what we can take away from Black Friday and Cyber Monday performance as the threat of Omicron looms, more profitless prosperity from Allbirds as they report their first quarterly earnings as a public company, and Amazon's rise to parcel delivery supremacy. About Karen KatzKatz, who is a graduate of the University of Texas, is the former chief executive, president and director of the Neiman Marcus Group. She stepped down from the role in January 2019. Since 2014 she has also been on the board of directors at Under Armour.Katz has worked in a number of key executive and leadership roles at Neiman Marcus since joining the group as a merchandise manager in 1985. Most recently she has leveraged Neiman Marcus' brick and mortar assets to launch an omni-channel strategy that includes merging planning and buying teams for all departments and integrating customers' online and in-store experiences with in-store apps and personalised web dashboards.Under Katz, Neiman Marcus acquired luxury e-commerce site MyTheresa.com, the Munich-based luxury e-tailer. She also expanded MyTheresa's e-commerce offerings to bolster the Neiman Marcus omni-channel strategy and oversaw the opening of the retailer's first New York City flagship in 2018, a seven-story retail project situated in the Hudson Yards in Manhattan's far West Side. About Steve SadoveBetween 2002 and 2013, Mr. Sadove held positions of increasing responsibility with Saks Incorporated, serving as its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer from 2007 to 2013.Prior to joining Saks, Mr. Sadove built a distinguished marketing and consumer products career spanning more than 25 years and held senior positions at companies including General Foods (now Kraft) and Bristol-Myers Squibb Company as President of Clairol. He led Clairol to become the number one hair care business in the United States, relaunched the Herbal Essences brand into a $700 million business and completed the sale of the beauty care business to Procter & Gamble. Mr. Sadove is also a founding partner of JW Levin Management Partners, a private equity firm.Mr. Sadove is a former Chair of the National Retail Federation and serves as an advisor to Mastercard. He serves on numerous community and civic boards including Hamilton College as Chairman of the Board of Trustees and AmeriCares. About Oliver ChenOliver Chen has joined Cowen and Company's Equity Research department as a Managing Director and Senior Equity Research Analyst. The TITT Talks Podcast - Modern Women Living in a Mama World

There’s no doubt that having children puts the whole world into perspective.  Everything else just disappears. Join us on our trip back into the momentous journey of us becoming mothers.  We talk about conceiving, loss, labor, birth, and postpartum successes and challenges.  Motherhood is different for everyone, there isn’t just one path or one right way to do it best.  One thing remains true, nothing in life will ever make you as happy, as sad, as exhausted or as incredibly proud as motherhood.  Reflect with us as we explore the miracle that is conceiving, giving birth, and the miraculous little beings we brought into this world.   ____________________________________________ MONTHLY SPOTLIGHTAs part of TITT Talks' women supporting women initiative, each month TITT Talks will spotlight a member of the community. The TITT Talks Podcast - Modern Women Living in a Mama World

Welcome to the very first episode of TITT Talks – Growing Up Asian Pacific American! We recorded this episode nearly three months ago, but given the surge of social unrest surrounding the topic of race, we felt it was important to launch the podcast with this as our first episode.  While we directly discuss matters of our own #aapi identities, our hearts are with the black community.  We collectively must do our part to rise against the injustice in this world.  Together, with action and self-education, we can create a world of equality and justice today and for the next generation. #blacklivesmatter ____________________________________________ WAYS TO GET INVOLVEDParticipate in #BLACKOUTDAY2020 on July 7, 2020. This is a call to action where ALL people of color are encouraged to come together in one day of solidarity to not spend a dollar.  Collectively, this group of minorities has $3.9 trillion dollars in economic spending power. Use your own platform, big or small, to educate your family and friends on the injustice black people face daily. It’s not enough to be quietly non-racist, now is the time to be vocally anti-racist. Donate to organizations serving Black communities, like TGI Justice Project, Black Girls Code, and the NAACP to name a few. This is just one of the many suggestions from Michelle Kim’s article, “20+ Allyship Actions for Asians to Show Up for the Black Community Right Now”. We encourage you to read the full article. Subscribe and listen to the following podcasts which dive into important conversations around racial equality and justice: 1619 by The New York Times, About Race, Code Switch by NPR, The Diversity Gap, Intersectionality Matters! Hello! And welcome to another edition of the Inside The Newsroom podcast newsletter. Today’s guest is Kait Parker, meteorologist at weather.com and host of the Warming Signs podcast. We talked about hurricane recoveries and what the past couple of years mean for climate change attitudes. Below are links and post-game analyses of everything we talked about. Hope you enjoy and pick up something!Warming SignsClever title aside, Kait has her own podcast where she speaks to people from different areas of the meteorology and climatology worlds. Last week’s episode was topical to our own conversation, when Kait spoke to Lisa LaDue, Hurricane Harvey Mental Health and Psychosocial Program Manager for Americares. Definitely worth listening to about how when a hurricane comes ashore, it’s just the beginning of a recovery that can last decades. Destruction Is Just the StartHurricane Michael’s 160mph winds left parts of Florida and Georgia unrecognizable. For many, the news was quickly shoved aside by politics or some dumb s**t Rick Scott said. But for the thousands of farmers in south west Georgia, the rebuilding has only just begun and may take up to a decade to return to normalcy. Max Blau, Atlanta MagazineBob Inglis At Your ServiceThere are portions of the GOP that have their heads screwed on as it pertains to climate change, and one of those is former six-term South Carolina Republican congressman Bob Inglis, who lost his seat way back in 2010 in large part due to his support for climate change. Inglis didn’t even make it out of the GOP primary, but has since set up his own nonprofit, RepublicEn, devoted to getting conservatives to come to grips with climate change.James Rainey, NBC NewsWhy Even Have a Hurricane Season?Tropical storms have occurred before the “official” start of the Atlantic hurricane season (June 1st) for the past five years, which begs the question why we put a label on when a season starts and ends (November 30th). There is logic behind it: 97 percent of tropical activity in the Atlantic happens between these dates, according to the National Hurricane Center. And fun fact: The season initially stretched from June 15 through November 15, until officials decided in 1965 to expand it.Nicole Chavez, CNNHurricane Imelda Sounds Terrifying 😨A look at the names for the 2019 Atlantic hurricane season. Here’s to hoping we don’t have to use all of them…Saeed Ahmed and Judson Jones, CNNRecord May For TornadoesFor folks like Kait, severe weather is a year-round commitment. In May, a record 13 consecutive days of tornadic activity in the US led to an unprecedented 555 tornado reports. While data is preliminary and needs to be confirmed, we know that two EF-4 tornadoes rocked Dayton, Ohio and Linwood, Kansas, and an EF-3 destroyed parts of Jefferson City, Missouri.Amanda Schmidt, AccuweatherIs Climate Change Responsible? The short answer is welllllll... As Dr. Victor Gensini from Northern Illinois University points out, no single weather event is caused by climate change. But that doesn’t mean climate change didn’t have an effect. More simply put, climate change increases the odds of severe weather events happening. More detail in the thread below. Victor Gensini, Northern Illinois UniversityThe “Twister” EffectSomething I’ve always found fascinating is the power of Hollywood, and the 1996 classic “Twister” is a classic example. The movie starring Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton was a huge hit on and off the screen, and is widely cited as the birth of amateur storm chasing in the US. In the decades before the movie, meteorology in America was obscure, maybe a small department at only a few dozen universities. But in the decade between 1994 and 2004, Americans receiving bachelor’s degrees in meteorology increased by 47 percent.Ben Guarino, Washington PostRelated Podcasts#37 — Josh Morgerman (Hurricane Man)#23 — Michael E. In the summer of 2017, Niv Rabino had just wrapped up a mission helping with the refugee crisis in Greece. He flew home to Israel, hoping to relax. But when he landed, news of Hurricane Harvey's devastation compelled him to rush back to the airport, and head to Texas. What's more, he had a personal connection to the tragedy: His niece had been visiting Houston, and was stuck for days on the second floor of a flooded house. Rabino hasn't left Houston since. For the past year, he's made the city his home. He's now working on long-term relief efforts, and helping the community rebuild and be better prepared for the next storm. Rabino works for the Tel Aviv-based humanitarian relief agency IsraAid. Like the Red Cross and Americares, IsraAid travels to the scenes of natural disasters. They've been busy in recent years. After a cyclone roared through Vanuatu, and an earthquake rattled Nepal, and a flood ravaged West Virginia, IsraAid ran to the rescue. They've gone on missions to the South Sudan, Japan, India, Sierra Leone, and the Philippines, just to name a few. They send teams of Israelis to help with rescue efforts, clean up and to help victims with the psychological toll of surviving a natural disaster. On today's episode, we catch up with Rabino to chat about the one-year anniversary of Hurricane Harvey, other global spots where IsraAid is on the ground and a unique program the group operates to train the next generation of Humanitarians. Ramona Bajema founded Miyabi Bamboo Charcoal in 2016, after discovering how bamboo charcoal helped improve the taste of her family’s tap water. She has an academic background and has worked in program management for a non-profit organization.  After completing her doctorate in Modern Japanese History at Columbia University in 2011, Ramona joined the AmeriCares emergency response team to oversee its disaster support program, following the earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear meltdown in Japan that year. The program committed $8.6 million for the rehabilitation of medical services, building facilities for people with disabilities, funding psychosocial programs, and other support projects. As a country representative, Ramona also worked as a consultant for the US Embassy in Japan, advising them on disaster area issues. Committed to environmental and social causes, Ramona has worked as a consultant on various projects including a study on organic wine, California farmworkers’ labor rights, and the economic effects of tourism in southern California. She has a Phd from Columbia University, an MA from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), and a BA from the University of California, Berkeley.   The Takeaways: Miyabi Bamboo Charcoal water filters are sustainable, zero-waste, plastic-free, AND can be tossed into a compost bin or garden when you’re ready to replace them Bamboo charcoal filters are carbonized and work by adsorbing (not absorbing) particles in your water, meaning the particles stick to the surface of the charcoal Miyabi Bamboo Charcoal filters are ready to use after boiling them for a few minutes, and each one typically lasts for 3-6 months The world is beginning to shift. I can see it; I can feel it. We’re waking up and slowly blinking our eyes into focus, as if we’ve been sleepwalking on this planet for decades. We’re realizing how mindless we’ve been, and realizing the burden of the creation of “ingenious” convenient single-use items. I’m ecstatic knowing we’re finally addressing single-use plastics as a society. However, we need to take another step back and reevaluate how we use plastic in other areas of our lives, in order to really tackle the plastic epidemic. Let’s talk about water filtration systems. I never considered that filtering water could be something other than running tap water through a filter that sits on top of a plastic pitcher, because that’s all I’d ever known. An entire system made of plastic. But guess what? There actually is another option! One that’s soft on the planet, sustainable, eco-friendly, AND compostable. And I’m obsessed with it. This week’s podcast episode features Ramona Bajema, founder of Miyabi Bamboo Charcoal, which is a zero-waste, plastic-free, compostable water filter that lasts for 3-6 months. Ramona was raised by a zero-waste momma, and although she went through a rebellious stage, she has certainly embraced her roots with this incredible start-up company. How do you use bamboo charcoal to filter your water? EASY. Boil it for a few minutes, and then plop it in your water canister or refillable water bottle. Within the first hour you’ll notice a difference in flavor. Miyabi charcoal is carbonized at 800 degrees celsius, meaning the particles in the water that you don’t want in your body will actually stick to its porous surface. I hope you take some time to listen to this week’s podcast and learn more about Miyabi Bamboo Charcoal. Ramona’s goal is to get her bamboo charcoal on the shelves of big retailers at a reasonable price so that it’s accessible to everyone in the world. Let’s help her accomplish this goal by sharing this with as many people as you can! And stay with her progress by following her on Instagram and Facebook, and make sure to check out the Miyabi website. You can listen to the podcast here on the website or on iTunes. You can also watch the full episode here. Thank you, Ramona, for being on the show with me. I absolutely LOVE your energy, your product, the way you approach running this eco-friendly, sustainable, zero-waste business, and especially the words you’ve left me and our listeners with. “What we’re all trying to do here with our products and our messages, is show it really is a way of life. We just have to make sure to make it part of our bloodstream and not a fashion or a trend. Right now is an amazing moment when people are becoming consciously aware.”   See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
