Hello, friends and welcome to Tuesday August 20th. Today we cover eUnited winning the Call of Duty World League Championship, and Russia’s surprise win at the PUBG Nations Cup. Let’s do this. What is up my friends and welcome back to the UEG podcast. I am your host, the Choice, your voice for esports! Over the weekend we had the butt clenching matches between the world’s top call of duty players and on Sunday it all came to a head between 100Thieves and eUnited fighting for the title of World Champion. The matches were quite a display of skill, and after a long back and forth bout, eUnited pull the win and the title for the second time in a row. Last month eUnited managed to win the CWL Pro League Finals in Miami making them back to back Champions… Someone call DrDisrespect on the flip phone… Anyways, the team took home a cool $800k and the title, beating 100thieves with a 3-2. [eUnited win Call of Duty World League Championship](https://www.espn.com/esports/story/_/id/27416393/eunited-win-call-duty-world-league-championship) Russia comes in hot with the win in this year’s PUBG Nations Cup. Apparently South Korea was the favorite to win the Cup. ESPN writes; “They were the favorite going in, had a constant lead throughout the first three two days of competition, and they had an incredible homefield advantage. But in the last three matches of the tournament, South Korea played it safe, opting to avoid conflict rather than take other teams head-on.” The only problem is… the event itself had some blatant failures. Teams were disconnecting from their matches in the middle of the tournament, and there were some cries of unfair advantages for teams. Aside from that, Russia really played their hearts out and it shows. Next up for PUBG is the Global Championships taking place in Los Angeles and finishing up in Oakland in November. Exciting times for PUBG, honestly. Their viewership numbers have really increased and I’m interested to see what kind of interaction there will be in the community. [Russia defies odds at PUBG Nations Cup](https://www.espn.com/esports/story/_/id/27421582/russia-defies-odds-pubg-nations-cup) Well, that’s it for us. TGIF my friends. It is Friday August 16th and PokemonGO announces a tournament?! Dota 2 International surpasses $33 Million prize pool, and Riot Games takes over sale of Echo Fox’s LCS slot after Kroenke deal falls through. Let’s dive in! Welcome. Back. Friends! To the UEG Podcast. It’s ya boi the Choice, your voice for esports! Really quick before we jump into what’s happening, we’re working on some cool ideas for Friday episodes, and I’m excited! So stay tuned for that. So a little something off the norm, the official PokemonGO twitter announced yesterday that it will be holding an eight trainer Invitational Tournament during the 2019 Pokemon World Championships. This will be PokemonGO’s first Trainer Battle Tournament and they’re kicking it off with some big Content Creator names. Junichi Masuda, Shigeki Morimoto, UnlistedLeaf, Strawburry17, Yamada, Poke AK, PokoKieng, and one lucky trainer! They may be doing a raffle, or drawing for that last spot to compete. The rules are simple, Double Elimination bracket, best of 5 matches, but here’s where it gets a little interesting. Trainers need to pick six Pokemon that are Great League eligible, which means less than 1500 CP, that they will use for the entirety of the tournament. A little twist thrown in at the end, no Pokemon can be of the same species. Should be a fun little watch! This will be happening today after the opening ceremonies. I will definitely be watching.
Welcome, my friends to Thursday August 15th. Team Liquid strikes up deal with Newzoo as data partner, PUBG Mobile Partners with Super League Gaming, Auto Chess Invitational finds new partners, and Tencent mobile gaming does financial wonders. What’s up everyone and welcome back to the UEG podcast! I am your host, as usual, The Choice, your voice for esports. We have a lot to cover today, so we’re going to keep each section short and sweet. Team Liquid announces Newzoo as their Strategic Data partner. Esports Observer reports, “This partnership with Newzoo adds their market intelligence and expertise to our collective knowledge-base and experience,” said Team Liquid co-CEO Victor Goossens in a release. “In the same way that we take pride in giving our players the platform they need to win, our goal here is to provide our staff with the tools and insight necessary to make smarter decisions, which ultimately leads to continued success.” Seems like Liquid are getting their fingers on the pulse of the esports industry. Really cool stuff! [Team Liquid Signs Newzoo as Strategic Data Partner | The Esports Observer](https://esportsobserver.com/team-liquid-newzoo-partner/) Tencent makes moves toward PUBG Mobile US Amateur Esports. Partnering up with Super League Gaming, establishing a “City Champs” amateur league. Super League Gaming will also host a slue of gameplay events, live stream competitions and produce video content based on its PUBG mobile tournaments. Ann Hand, Super League Gaming’s CEO, says, “PUBG Mobile fits perfectly within Super League’s Expanding offerings for the more than 100 million enthusiastic gamers across the country. It delivers on every level, with fun gameplay, competitive intensity, and a passionate player base. We could not be more excited to be launching this program with Tencent across our nationwide venue network, SuperLeagueTV, and our recently acquired Framerate social video network.” These events will begin in September. [Super League Gaming Partners With Tencent for PUBG Mobile U.S. Amateur Esports | The Esports Observer](https://esportsobserver.com/slg-tencent-pubg-mobile/) Auto Chess Invitational gains seven new partners announces Drodo Studio, the original developer of Dota Auto Chess and Auto Chess. The partners include; GLL, ESforce, Funease, VNG, Sin Esports, League of Videogames Professionals, and ImbaTV. This will be a $1 million tournament. [https://esportsobserver.com/china-esports-recap-august14-2019/](https://esportsobserver.com/china-esports-recap-august14-2019/) And lastly, mobile games are pumping some NOICE numbers. Tencent reported it’s Q2 revenues as up 21% Year Over Year. Those are some mega numbers! Let’s keep looking at this. Esports Observer writes; “Total revenues for Q2 2019 increased to ¥88.8B RMB ($12.9B USD) from ¥73.7B ($10.7B) in the same period last year.” 12.9 BILLION DOLLARS ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?! Are you kIDDING ME!? Who said mobile gaming isn’t going anywhere?! Show your face! Anyways. The game Peacekeeper Elite just passed up 50 million DAILY active users in China and PUBG Mobile hit that same threshold globally. Daily. Active. Users. oof. Kevin Garnett is just investing in Triumph Esports. Esports Observer reports; “15-time NBA All-Star Kevin Garnett is investing in full-service esports company Triumph Esports through his event management and production company, Big Ticket Sports LLC.” Plans with Triumph are to bring esports to “Hoop It Up”, Big Ticket Sport’s 3 on 3 basketball tour. Garnett states, “Our relationship with Triumph Esports is a natural fit as we look to showcase and elevate shared lifestyle experiences through competition, content, and live events. Our vision is to create unique experiences that impact our fans across a variety of passion points.” This will be Garnett’s first time in the esports scene, but he plans to bring together music, esports, and an urban lifestyle together for up coming events. Sign me up! I’d go to an event like this in a heartbeat. Good on Kevin for seeing potential. [https://esportsobserver.com/kevin-garnett-triumph-esports/](https://esportsobserver.com/kevin-garnett-triumph-esports/) [Former NBA star Garnett invests in Triumph Esports](https://www.espn.com/esports/story/_/id/27375251/former-nba-star-garnett-invests-triumph-esports) PUBG Corp has announced Oakland as it’s city to host the PUBG Global Championship. Earlier games leading up to the Championship will be held at the OGN Super Arena in Los Angeles. Winner’s prize pool starts at $2 million, but will increase with the purchase of in game items. Definitely taking a number from the Dota 2 crowd funding ideas, but a great idea none the less.
