Enthusiastic delivery of 7-day weather synopsis with likely improved accuracy due to better communication about the weekend system. This episode makes reference to several National Weather Services throughout the country. This includes New York, Buffalo, St.Louis, Kansas City, Chicago, Midland TX Bismark, N.D. In addition, this episode contains info from the National Weather Service in Holley, N.J., New Orleans, South Bend, Cleveland, Norman, OK, Detroit, Milwaukie, and Duluth (or whichever one includes Lake Superior). Several other forecast discussions from additional forecast offices were used in preparation for this podcast. This includes Omaha, Des Moines, Green Bay, Wisconsin, Anchorage, Amarillo, TX, Ohio (the one that covers Cincinnati), and additional offices. Additional resources used in preparation for this episode were 3 weather articles in the Washinton Post. The computer models advertised on Windy.Com were also used in preparation, especially the European model. This is used together with the guidance offered from the forecast discussions of various national weather services. The long-term weather forecasters mentioned in this episode are believed to be from AccuWeather. This episode incorporates previous knowledge that is known to the Podcaster from being a weather Enthusiast from the time he was three. Some of that information comes from meteorologists Dave Murray and Tom Skilling. Occasionally the New York Times. The enthusiasm expressed in this episode comes from the podcaster's natural love for weather and fascination with forecasting (as do all the episodes). Some of this love was transmitted from the human voice on the NOAA weather radio. The material in the Washington Post is frequently written by Mathew Cappucci. This one includes information from Dan Stillman and possibly others, especially Jason Samenow. This episode adds clarification and has some additional info including a small discussion about El Nino. We discuss Google's new Forecasts made through artificial intelligence. It's more accurate than the European model. We make some comparisons between this week's weather pattern and a pattern back in January 2021 (and December 2019 and 2020).

9/28/23: 100° Heat heads to Midwest, 80's & 90's this weekend.
Inspirational Extended Warmth Locks Into Midwest to End September and October (Early). (Made 9/26) Extended Heatwave by the end of this week. A Powerhouse Heat Dome of 591 decimeters settles over Southern Missouri and Illinois on Saturday 9/30/23. Heat Dome weakens slightly on Sunday to 588 but remains stationary through Midweek next week. This will bring widespread 80's across all 10 Midwest States + South Central States as well. Some isolated spots of 90s will take place. Due to the Easterly component of the wind around the Mississippi River going eastward, temps will be cooler near the Lake in Chicago. This weather pattern is known as an Omega Block. In an Omega Block, All Cold Air From Canada is Directed to the West Coast. This Cold air is forecasted to make it to the Midwest bringing snow to parts of the Great Lakes and Iowa by the end of October. However, the GFS model has this happening as early as October 8th (the Simchat Torah holiday). Stay tuned for later updates. 90° Heat heads to Omaha. Highs from 77° - 86° (25 - 30° C) for Chicago. High's 80' for Most Midwest with 50' and 60's at night. Warm and Dry weather arrives in time for The Holiday Of Succot providing Ideal conditions for Both sleeping and Eating Outside in the Succa (hut with no rain protection). This includes ALL cities in the Midwest
Extended Heatwave by end of this week. But 1st a cut off low pressure storm system which originated from the pacific Ocean continues to bring heavy rain with storms across Minnesota and it's surrounding states to the South and East. This Cut Off low is difficult to forecast because it does not have the jet stream associated with it. In fact it will be the high pressure ridge that will eventually push this low out of here. Until it does there are approximately 2 waves of precipitation that may impact the Chicago area on Tuesday 9/26/23. The 1st is for the morning rush hour and the 2nd is for the evening rush hour. The storms impact on St.Louis will be dependant upon a surge of Gulf moisture which most models keep it East of The Mississippi. Therefore this system is not currently forecasted to have a significant impact in St.Louis. however, there is a marginal risk for severe weather for parts of both Missouri and Illinois. Cloud to ground lightning, large hail and even a couple of damaging tornadoes remains possible even in Chicago. In between the system and the ridge there could be isolated lake effect rain showers near parts of Lake Michigan. All rain shuts down and Friday onward no rain for many days. In this episode we first hear about severe storms in Arizona. We hear from 4 year old YZ about Chicago weather. We then hear weather headlines across the country and even the world. Headlines include potential hurricane development and information on solar cycle with it's impact on internet outages. New York city weather is included. Iraq heat along with it's associated power outages are mentioned. We discuss 90° heat in Alaska, Heat intensification over Dallas, heat breakdown over Phoenix and a quick return of heat at end of week for St.Louis. The final segment discusses an unprecedented marine heatwave occuring in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Florida, Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico which brought water temperatures to bathtub levels of 101° in Everglade National Park. The Washington Post tells us that this along with the 102° reading that occured in 2017 might be the hottest water temperature globally. Normally, hottest water temps are in Persian Gulf including Iran and the Red Sea. ( The Dead Sea in Israel has seen hotter water temperatures ). Enjoy!

This episode mentions the IPCC report in regards to the importance of keeping the average global temperature at 1.5c° or lower. We discuss how there will likely be a temporary rise above this level due to an El Nino that is in the process of developing. It should be pointed out that since this rise will only be temporary it likely will not pose the threat that the IPCC mentions will happen. We discuss how and why greenhouse gasses are increasing at least a double rate in Alaska and how this is connected to the permafrost. We discuss how the impact that global warming will have on the many places in the world is not clear. For example it is possible that while storms will be more potent it is possible that dust will decrease the number of storms. The quick pace of the warming arctic might also decrease the number of storms based upon the way this interacts with the jet stream. We also mention that there are different opinions on this. Rising sea levels are therefore the greatest threat to humanity in most likelihood. We discuss the significant role trees and soil have in regards to reducing greenhouse gasses. We discuss a very unique tropical storm that formed in the upper latitudes in mid January and the possibility of tropical storm development within the next 2 or 3 weeks according to AccuWeather. At the very end (before the trailer) is a 30sec mention of the benefit that planting a tree can bring.

Can you imagine stepping into another era, experiencing the torrid temperatures of a dust bowl year, all while standing in the heart of St. Louis? The GFS and HRRS Computer models are doing an excellent job at "imagining" such a scenario for tomorrow June 29th 2023 in St.Louis with forecasting highs in the 110's as a dry line develops. We're venturing a stationary heat dome, thunderstorms circling its edges like a 'ring of fire', and the brewing complexities that could cause a forecast bust in the forecast for the Chicago and St Louis National Weather Services. We invite you to unravel the enigma of the GFS computer model's vision for St Louis - an extreme dust bowl year scenario with temperatures spiking into the 110s. An intense atmospheric mix, plummeting dew points, and a potential dry line all conspire to create this extraordinary weather portrait. But will the reality match the prediction? Our discussion debates the climate credibility of this dramatic scenario while also considering the fascinating interplay between the stationary heat ridge and the ‘ring of fire.' So, brace yourself for an enlightening journey through these enthralling weather phenomena in the Midwest!
Get ready to embark on an expedition. Starting with the air quality deterioration in Chicago, we highlight a hazardous effect of temperature inversion especially when combined with Canadian wildfire smoke. Witness how Asia sweats with extreme heat reaching a staggering 128 degrees Fahrenheit in Iran and how the Lut Desert, possibly the hottest place on earth, withstands surface temperatures of up to 177 degrees. Then, we zoom over to the United States, where temperatures in Texas, Oklahoma and Arizona scorched today with 109° - 114 degrees heat and 8 cities reached 100°+ in Louisiana with high humidity. We wrapped up with the day's highest temperatures in Africa and Europe. Tune in and develop a newfound appreciation for the world's weather conditions.
