Renungan SeRoJa, Pesta Santo Tomas, Rasul. 03 Juli 2026
La Porta | Renungan Harian Katolik - Daily Meditation according to Catholic Church liturgy
SalamMaria, penuh rahmat ... Dalam nama Bapa ...
Renungan SeRoJa, HR S. Petrus & S. Paulus, Rasul, 29 Juni 2026
La Porta | Renungan Harian Katolik - Daily Meditation according to Catholic Church liturgy

Tuhan Yesus memberkati.

Rasul is a 2L at the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law. Rasul's journey is one of the best this podcast has ever had to offer. From tire technician to College Valedictorian and Rhodes Scholar finalist, and now a rising 2L and an upcoming 3L Class President at the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law.Rasul and I started before he arrived at college. Being an average High School Student, Rasul did not have many intentions of attending college. Inspired by a coworker at BJ's, he would begin his search. After finding out a scholarship could get him to Prince George's Community College for free, he would start his unforgettable journey. Following his time at Prince George's, Rasul finished his time at Towson University, being top 1% of his class, President of numerous organizations, a Rhodes Scholar finalist, and finally, Valedictorian Speaker. We then moved to his introduction into Law School, his 1L year, which he thoroughly enjoyed. It was a thought-provoking experience and a testament to the hard work he had accomplished in the 4 years before it. Even with the large workload, Rasul would become 1L Class President and follow his intellectual curiosity, speaking on the many internships he has held thus far. This episode with Rasul is one of my favorites of all time, full of amazing stories and a testament to pulling yourself up by the bootstraps and not limiting yourself, no matter what. Laundering Black Rage: The Washing of Black Death, People, Property, and Profits (Routledge, 2024) examines the dilution and commodification of Black Rage--conceived as a constructive response to the conquest of resources, land, and human beings--in a spatial and historical critique of the capitalist State. Interweaving academic criticism with journalistic essays, it presents a thoughtful challenge to popular narratives surrounding recent US events such as the Black Lives Matter movement, the death of George Floyd and other police killings, and cases of White vigilantism, arguing that the maintenance of capitalism increasingly requires the manufactured consent of the conquered. Essayist/performer Too Black and geographer Rasul A. Mowatt assert Black Rage as a threat to the flow of capital, which must therefore be conquered by laundering, defined as a process of: - Incubation via the State, which places rage in circulation by setting both the oppressive conditions for its expression and seeding contradictions for it to be cleaned. - Labour, which sets mass uprisings in motion, layers the narcissistic rage of the Black elite over the illegal, militant rage of the masses to conceal class interests and collapse labour into capital. - Commodification, in which the now-laundered Black Rage is integrated within the State, ready to be withdrawn as a labour-crushed commodity to be bought, sold, or repressed by White capital. Entwining histories of Black resistance throughout the diaspora, State building under capitalism, cities as sites of laundering, and the world making of empire, Laundering Black Rage also lays the groundwork for upending the process through an anti-colonial struggle of reverse-laundering conquest. Relevant to studies of race and culture, history, politics, and the built environment, this pathbreaking work is essential reading for scholars and activists engaged at the intersection of critiquing capitalism and combating systemic racism"-- Too Black is a low-wage worker, poet, organizer, and filmmaker. As a poet, Too Black has headlined the historic Nuyorican Poets Café, Princeton University, and Johannesburg Theater in South Africa. His words have appeared in publications such as Black Agenda Report, Left Voice, Indianapolis Recorder, and Hood Communist. He is also the co-director of the award-winning documentary The Pendleton 2: They Stood Up. Rasul A. Mowatt is a son of Chicago and a subject of empire, while dwelling within notions of statelessness, settler colonial mentality, and anti-capitalism. Rasul also functions in the State as a Department Head in the College of Natural Resources, as an Interim Department Head in the Division of Academic and Student Affairs, and as an Affiliate Professor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at North Carolina State University. He is the author of the book The Geographies of Threat and the Production of Violence: The City and State Between Us. Learn more about your ad choices. Green Dreamer: Sustainability and Regeneration From Ideas to Life
What does it actually mean to build “movements” — understanding this word not as a loose terminology overarching certain causes but as a substantive call for intentionally spun and co-conspired webs of relations? How can clarifying the words we use around organizing help to prevent co-optation and dilution? And how do we navigate the paradox of needing funding from often “dirty” sources in order to get by — while simultaneously attempting to subvert the underlying structures of power themselves? In this part 2 of our conversation with Rasul A. Mowatt and Too Black of Laundering Black Rage (tap into part 1 here), we continue to sink in more deeply to unravel our entanglement in systems of exploitation.Join us as we learn about what it means to tether ourselves to “organizations” beyond feeding into the optics of collective action; how we can practice “reverse laundering” to help funnel more resources towards “illegitimate” places of need; how to disentangle movement building from cycles of electoral politics; and more.We invite you to…tune in and subscribe to Green Dreamer via any podcast app;join us on Patreon for the extended version of this episode;and subscribe to our newsletter and latest updates at greendreamer.substack.com

What does it mean to understand laundering in the context of how Black rage often gets converted to fit the interests of capital — against the very people experiencing that anger as a response to state violence? How do we remain cautious of different forms of co-optation, including through the arts, that end up distancing people from the material conditions that originally sparked the rage?In this part one of our two-part conversation, we are honored to welcome the co-authors of Laundering Black Rage, Rasul A. Mowatt and Too Black — who guide us to critically reflect on key happenings in the aftermath of the killing of George Floyd — and more recently, the murder of Sonya Massey.Join us in this vital and sobering dialogue as we discuss how activism for social causes is often subverted, redirected, and laundered into forms deemed palatable by the state — only to be fed back into reinforcing the system itself. We also explore how cities, to be distinguished from “society”, are set up inherently as sites of extraction — enforcing complicity by design. How do we confront our entanglement in such processes of laundering — while staying focused on the types of efforts that can more directly address the sources of systemic harm?www.patreon.com/greendreamer
