The Edmonton Oilers are heading back to the Stanley Cup Final! For the second straight season, they've eliminated the Dallas Stars in the Western Conference Final—this time doing it in just five games. Game 5 was electric from the opening puck drop, with the Oilers exploding for two goals on their first two shots. The blitz forced Dallas head coach Pete DeBoer to burn his timeout and pull Jake Oettinger just minutes into the game. But the damage was already done.Connor McDavid led the way with another dominant performance, the powerplay continued to deliver, and despite a push from Dallas in the third to make it 4-3, it was Evander Kane who silenced the Stars with a massive insurance goal to seal it. Edmonton walks away with a 6-3 win and a trip back to the Stanley Cup Final—this time looking for redemption. We'll break down everything from last night with our scoring summary, One Big Take, Giant Question, and dive into some early storylines ahead of the Cup Final rematch between the Oilers and Panthers. We're also thrilled to welcome Jeff Marek, host of The Sheet, to help us break down the entire Western Conference Final series and preview what's shaping up to be an electric rematch in the Stanley Cup Final. Jeff will give us his thoughts on how the Oilers managed to take down the Stars in just five games, what's impressed him most about Edmonton's evolution this postseason, and what the Oilers will need to do differently against a relentless Florida Panthers squad looking for back-to-back championships.Plus, we're joined by former NHL defenseman Jason Demers to get his thoughts on Game 5, the Oilers' playoff run so far, and what they'll need to do to flip the script against Florida in the Final.Website: https://oilersnation.com/ https://twitter.com/OilersNation/ https://www.youtube.com/@Oilersnationdotcom/ https://www.facebook.com/OilersNation/https://www.instagram.com/oilersnationdotcomhttps://www.tiktok.com/@oilersnation SHOUTOUT TO OUR SPONSORS!!

The game had a playoff-like intensity, with two high-powered teams trading chances all game long.Unfortunately, the biggest storyline of the night was McDavid's injury. He left late in the second period with a lower-body injury and did not return, leaving Oilers fans holding their breath. Later, the hosts head to Columbus to check in with another former hockey pro, now NHL Network analyst, Jason Demers (22:55). The trio dissect how certain coaches use public criticism to call out their poorly performing players, where in other markets that seems taboo. They get into the differences in coaches and captains around the league, as well as how some young stars are handled as they integrated into the pros. The views and opinions expressed in this podcast are those of the hosts and guests and do not necessarily reflect the position of Rogers Sports & Media or any affiliates.
Jason Demers is former professional ice hockey player who played 700 games in the National Hockey League. He also would represent Canada in International competition. Even though these accomplishments are both impressive and special his achievements are far more impressive when you learn that he accomplished this while battling "performance anxiety". Performing while under the influence of "performance anxiety" can feel as if you are "running in quicksand". This is to say that, not only is this extremely difficult but attempting to overcome this can feel as if you are running to your demise. Jason Demers, shares insights as to what this is like as well as how he overcame it. At the same time, Jason will share with us how he is now attempting to help other young athletes overcome performance anxiety through a program he is a part of called Find Your Play (link below). We can find Jason Demers on TV now as a commentator/ analyst for the San Jose Sharks. Find Your Play - (click here)
