Forgive me for being a tad late with the upload. I’m clearly suffering from a post-Christmas daze. But we are here now and ready to close out 2022 with this DBG/NNS combo from December 27th and 28th, 1995 which I have titled: Ringing in the New Year with Some Ding-Dongs. We begin with Norm describing where Jack does his traffic reports from as well as inquiring about what the dress code is or lack thereof. Jack offers a belated Birthday wish to Norm. Norm, who was slighted by Jack’s lack of gifts/card, runs down a list of the celebrity birthday greetings he received. One with a very clever tag line. Mike Epstein, on the other hand, has been sending Norm cards since last February. In addition to Jack and Mike, the rest of the Panel includes: Arlene in Philadelphia, PA Kevin in ME Val in Needham Jean from Kingston Slim pickings on Bdays and Events: Tovah Feldshuh Anna Russell Bernard Lanvin Dr. William Howell Masters Norm takes it to the break, and we move onto the NNS Callers: Fred Alice Ruth from Buzzards Bay Cuts to Norm talking about Lou Gorman, then VP of the Red Sox, who would read a proclamation announcing Lizzie Murphy Day honoring a woman who played semi-pro baseball for 17 years. At one point Lucy asks Montana to tell a story but…the tape was paused! However, we do pick up when I enter the studio and it gets a bit racy! I hope you’re enjoying listening to these on that great radio in the sky as much as I enjoy producing them. Players wishing me a long and happy marriage. Norm adds if it’s an unhappy marriage it’ll seem a whole lot longer. Norm was prophetic about that. Norm makes a bold statement regarding this particular game. Norm gives some insider information on where and how Bob Raleigh stores and accesses his pens. I get to feel the power of ending a call. And we end the game with a cryptic message from Paul. Norm fills the time before news with the weather and tells us about a new program starting that very Sunday morning from 7-9am…Neil Chayet and Looking at the Law. It was replacing Dr. Howard Smith who had high-tailed it to the West Coast. Norm sends it to News after he teases us with a history question. The News Sounder segues nicely into the Traffic Sounder and a report from Lou Lou Lou Ianazzo. A very moving Accuwx forecast with Dave Bowers and Norm trying to sound like he’s on public radio. This all gives way to another Show Open and Norm gives the answer to the that pre-news question. I would like to welcome my local cable channel, WMCT-TV in Marlborough, MA as an affiliate of Norm Nathan’s Vault of Silliness! Now I don’t know about you, but I get quite a few local channels from the surrounding communities so even if you’re not in Marlborough you just may be able to find it on your cable carrier. It will air later in the evening while the message boards fill your screen with that all-important community info. They will begin with Episode 1 and roll on from there. When the time comes to incorporate a video aspect we just may move to ‘prime-time’ (wink-wink). Granted, by the time THIS episode airs everything I just said will be old news to the viewers. We are just so darn thankful to WMCT for expanding the reach of our silliness. I have titled this DBG from May 13th, 1996: Truth, Lies and Analog Tape. From the moment we press play the game is on!
