"girl, you CAN" and other messaging of empowerment and motivation, and on the one hand, it's wonderful, it's good and we all need a pep talk from time to time. But there's also. a culture of "self love" which has evolved into self worship. In today's episode Author Becky Kiser shares how the premise of her book is meant to empower women, yet also teach them that their weaknesses are indeed their super power, and that when they can't GOD CAN. The whole reason we need Jesus is because WE CAN'T in so many ways... and that's ok. We also address: Self love/Self worship vs. Loving yourself What to do when we know God Can, but God Doesn't? How surrender is something more readily embraced after we have moved through the pain of when we can't, and realize, God can, but if he doesn't, we still know we're going to be ok. And so much more! Tired of trying to be enough? The truth is you were never meant to be, no matter what culture might tell you. Christian women today are bombarded with confusing messaging–they are supposed to do and be it all but also die to themselves. They are supposed to believe that women can do anything and also surrender everything to God. Adding to that pressure, many women feel stuck in their current reality–spinning on the hamster wheel of life. They scroll past images that tell them everyone else has it together and is experiencing a purpose-filled, adventurous, fun, loving, and God-honoring life. Overwhelmed and at a loss, most women go one of two places: defeat or self-help empowerment, even Christian self-help. Becky Kiser is on the show talking about her book But God Can. She's helping us realize this truth: on our own, we were never meant to be enough—that is the gospel message, that is why Jesus came. But God Can get you unstuck and find a purpose you have never known! You will identify the lies you've internalized, replace those with new truths, and find freedom through realistic, practical, and life-changing strategies. Join us to: find freedom from lies as she changes how she thinks, identify what God says is actually true, remember that God is more than capable of doing anything, discover how He has uniquely created her, and propel her into the abundant life of deep purpose. Tune in to realize you don't have to be enough because God is more than enough! On your own, you can't, but God totally can! Connect with Becky: @beckykiser
I love getting to finally "meet" my online friends! That's why today's discussion with Becky Kiser means so much! She is an author, speaker, and life coach, and she is sharing insights from her upcoming book "But God Can." Becky's journey is one of redemption and transformation, from a troubled youth marked by rebellion to a life surrendered to God's grace and power. Born into a broken home and struggling with faith, Becky's encounter with the humanity of God at 16 led her to surrender her life to Christ. Drawing inspiration from 2 Corinthians 12:9, Becky emphasizes the power of embracing weakness as a gateway to experiencing God's strength. In her book, Becky delves into the theme of overcoming lies and finding true abundance by being honest with ourselves, God, and others. She challenges the notion of "fake it until you make it," advocating instead for authenticity and vulnerability in our walk with God. Becky's message is a reminder that no matter our past or present struggles, God's power is made perfect in our weakness. Through her Online Women's Bible Study and the insights shared in "But God Can," Becky invites listeners to experience the freedom and strength that comes from surrendering to God's transformative grace. Bio: Becky is a Speaker, Podcast Host, Ministry Leader, Life Coach, and Cheerleader of Women. Last month I had the opportunity to go to the Mexico/United States border with Women of Welcome and World Relief. A group of friends and Happy Hour listeners joined me and we had the opportunity to gain proximity to those who were living the experience of immigration, as well as meet with pastors, community leaders, and border patrol officers to learn more about this issue. This was my third trip and I still walked away immensely impacted by the stories shared. In this month's bonus series you'll hear from two leaders who led the trip and a few voices from those who attended. On the first episode of this three part series, I'm joined with two friends, Jessica Thompson and Becky Kiser. This was their first experience at the border and you'll hear how this trip has impacted their life upon returning. Becky Kiser is tenacious in her intent to help women love God, themselves, and others. She is a life and small business coach, helping women identify and surpass their goals. My prayer as you listen to these episodes is that you'll be filled with questions and the desire to learn more about what God's Word says on this topic. I pray that we are moved to be compassionate and loving to all of our neighbors.
