Happy 2024 I rode through Maryland and Delaware during fall to search for the Blair Witch and visit the school featured in the Dead Poet's Society. Along the way, I had some ups and downs and learned some valuable tips for planning a tour and riding in cold weather.
Join us this week on JKMoto Podcast as we talk with Jeff Whitmer Service Manager for Long Beach BMW Motorcycles, and get some of his great stories. To start off as always we want to know what got Jeff into motorcycles in the first place, what a story that was! From as young as Jeff can remember he's been around and been on two wheels, leading him eventually to a racing career in southern California. Today Jeff works for possibly one of the best BMW dealers in the US right in Long Beach, they and BMW both have a slightly different look on what it is to be a moto dealer and we quite enjoyed their methods. So strap in, sit back, and relax as we get to know Jeff a little more and gain some insight on BMW Motorcycles here in America.

Coming up on todays episode of the BMW Motorrad Ride and Talk Podcast: Designing the newest and most cutting edge BMW motorcycles. Take a listen! Ever since my passion for BMW Motorrad began, I've had an insatiable desire to understand the inner workings of the company. Throughout the years, I've tried to piece together the journey that each motorcycle takes from concept to reality. Some of these steps are of course highly confidential, and therefore very difficult for outsiders to fully visualize. So it was very exciting for my producer Louise Powers and I to be invited to the BMW Motorrad Design Studio in Munich where we interviewed Alexander Buckan and Harry Schmidt, both part of new vehicle strategy and design. As we interview Alex and Harry, you will hear the sounds of a bustling machine shop where new model prototypes are being constructed. Together we discuss the process of developing new models, and talk about the future of motorcycles, including cutting edge electric platforms and urban mobility.
We're back! Jamie Chiang talks about her first ride to the famed Americade Rally. Engineer, Ph.D., and former MSF Instructor share memories of our friend David and his strategies for staying upright in all riding conditions. In Episode #096 of Underserved, our guest is Chris Boutiette. Chris had to ask his high school to add computer courses, only to find them unexpectedly challenging. This didn't deter him from pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or working his way through college running a tech support firm. With so many brands in the marketplace, how can you elevate yours? And how do you stay unique, eye-catching, and authentic to your vision? To help address these questions, we turn to Denise Blasevick, CEO and Founding Partner of The S3 Agency. The S3 Agency provides advertising, marketing, and PR for companies seeking stronger strategy and an authentic voice that differentiates your brand from all others. Denise shares how thought leadership can make your business stand out, and earn trust. She was the on-air marketing make-over expert for an MSNBC program for nearly a decade, and that exposure allowed her company to compete with larger firms and punch above their level. She offers tips she learned staying true to her vision in a sea of competition, and how she found people that shared her breakthrough point of view. In today's society, your brand must be authentic. Some choose to lean into (or away from) certain political issues, but Denise used her unique perspective to guide her brand's voice. Today, she walks us through the reasons how and why a brand should engage in the conversation about difficult topics. Further, she reminds us that leaning into a cause means more than giving lip service to your views; you must act on them, or your audience will call your authenticity into question. The S3 Agency has helped clients, from BMW Motorcycles to Tetley Tea, develop their brands. Denise explains the Brand Elevation Process used to collaborate with clients and help them reach the next level. She explains how she broke years of gut instinct down into small, measurable parts, then used her insights to build a codified process that allows brands to scale their business. Whether your brand is big or small, this conversation can help you find clarity and meaning - and find success! Three Key Takeaways: When codifying your thought leadership, break it down into its most basic pieces. Then, of each part, ask “Does this really matter?” For thought leadership to change the world, it must do more than talk about it. You must stand for something, take action, and be the change you want to see in the world. The only way to scale thought leadership effectively is to create a process that allows others to replicate your results.

Welcome loyal listeners to another episode of The Loyalty Minute, I'm your host Rob Gallo and today I am excited to chat with Denise Blasevick (BLA-Seh-Vick). Denise is the CEO of The S3 Agency, a creative agency that specializes in differentiating brands to maximize their power and profitability. The agency's proprietary Brand Elevation process identifies a brand's best opportunity for authentic differentiation – and it has brought success to brands from BMW Motorcycles, to the National Kitchen and Bath Association, to Tetley Tea. An inductee in the Advertising Hall of Fame of New Jersey, and the on-air Marketing Makeover Expert for the former MSNBC show, “Your Business”, Denise is here today to help us understand why there is no business case – and no excuse – for boring branding. Welcome to the show Denise, thanks for joining me... --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/rob-gallo/message

Episode 4: Lane Splitting & Filtering, Essential Repair Skills & Tools and Wildlife Encounters ARR RAW Round Table Discussion with Travellers. Grant Johnson, Brian Rix, Shirley Hardy-Rix, Sam Manicom and Jim Martin. Missing this week is regular Graham Field. Episode 4 Topics: Lane splitting & Filtering It’s a dangerous situation for a motorcyclist to be caught in traffic, the stop and go, distracted drivers, etc. The University of California at Berkeley published a report in May 2015 that says “motorcyclists who split lanes in heavy traffic are significantly less likely to be struck from behind by other motorists”. The National Agenda for Motorcycle Safety studied safety implications of lane splitting. “A motorcycle’s narrow width can allow it to pass between lanes of stopped or slow moving cars on roadways where the lanes are wide enough to offer an adequate gap. This option can provide an escape route for motorcyclists who would otherwise be trapped or struck from behind. There is evidence that travelling between lanes of stopped or slow-moving cars (i.e. land splitting) on multiple-lane roads (such as interstate highways) slightly reduces crash frequency compared with staying within the lane and moving with other traffic.” Lane splitting and filtering are a normal practice in many countries…Europe…Asia… riders are expected and sometimes required to pass between vehicles and advance to the front of the group. If you are not accustomed to lane splitting and filtering (prohibited in most of United States and Canada) and you go to a country where it is law or expected, how can you be prepared for that? What if you don’t want to lane split - it’s too scary or intimidating - how do you handle that? Do you avoid it? Just not do it? Essential Repair Skills & Tools? How to Deal With Breakdowns? How prepared do you really need to be? What are the do it yourself repairs you should learn before you go? Tire changing, chain adjustment, oil change? Can help usually be found easily? Wildlife Encounters Dangers and not-so dangers? Should you be concerned? How do you handle wildlife? Different countries - different animals… Preparing? Knowledge you need? Is it a good idea to carry sprays, other wildlife defences? What sort of defence tools do you take with you? What sort of things can you do to deter animal encounters?
