#29: Gezwind de lente in met CFMoto

Motorrijder Podcast

Play Episode Listen Later May 2, 2025 40:22

Franco is the leading the charge this year—handling logistics for pre-DGR events, co-leading the parking team, and helping with behind-the-scenes to make sure DGR is a seamless experience for the hundreds of guests in attendance. We talk about what DGR is all about—the global cause behind it, the impact it has, and why it matters to Franco and the community. We also dive into Triumph Motorcycles' involvement at the global and local level, including support from SoCal Motorcycles Brea, who are stepping up to elevate the event through raffles, prizes, and a giveaway bike! Whether you're a fan of BMC, new to the DGR scene, or a regular listener of the Ride Boundless Podcast—you'll want to check this one out. Let's ride, raise awareness, and do it in style.

In this episode, we are delighted to welcome Marisa Kurimbokus, who was announced as the IET Young Woman Engineer of the Year 2024 at the end of last year. In the podcast, we follow Marisa's journey from primary school, where a teacher dropped what I can only assume was a casual comment, but it is one that sticks with her to this day. Through secondary school, where Marisa describes her journey through a range of subjects, including A Level design and technology. And chauffeuring her friend to a lecture only for serendipity to step in and have other ideas. We first met Marisa when she was with Triumph Motorcycles. She was then a design engineer helping to organise and run the now sadly defunct Triumph Design Awards. She takes us through her career journey, which has been wide and varied, working in various sectors before arriving at her current role as Head of Engineering at Raeon. Finally, we discuss the recently awarded IET Young Woman Engineer of the Year accolade and how Marisa wants to use the spotlight this affords her to encourage more young women to be brave and explore a career in engineering. In the conversation you will hear Marisa's passion for what she does, which comes across in bucket loads. I know you will enjoy this conversation, so sit back, grab the dog for a walk or take us on your commute as you listen to Designed for Life in conversation with Marisa Kurimbokus.https://www.raeon.com/https://www.linkedin.com/in/marisa-kurimbokus-fwes-ceng-imeche/https://youngwomenengineer.theiet.org/

Welcome to this week's episode of Visual Intonation, where we sit down with a filmmaker who's changing the landscape, one story at a time—Lexx Truss. Hailing from Greensboro, North Carolina, Lexx made his mark in the film world with his award-winning short 'Zarina', which won the Grand Prize at the 2019 Emerge! Filmmaking Lab. Since then, he's crafted compelling narratives, exploring the psychological depths of characters in conflict with themselves, all while juggling multiple genres and formats.  From his early days as a drumline musician and freelance videographer to his time producing 100+ videos for ATTN: and directing commercials for Triumph Motorcycles, Lexx's career is anything but conventional. He's been recognized across the board, with his films featured on Fox Soul and his scripts climbing the ranks of Coverfly's Red List. More recently, Lexx directed and produced a music documentary for Peter $un, under Red Bull's Filmmaker Launchpad program—a project that marks the latest chapter in his ever-growing body of work.  In this episode, we'll dive deep into Lexx's journey from North Carolina to Los Angeles, discuss the passion that fuels his filmmaking, and unpack how he's balancing personal legacy with industry ambition through his production company, Truss Films. Whether it's through the lens of a camera or the heartbeat of a drumline, Lexx is always exploring what it means to evolve, to create, and to tell stories that reflect who we are and who we're becoming.  Tune in for an intimate conversation with a filmmaker whose artistry is as multifaceted as the characters he brings to life. Lexx Truss's Website: trusslexx.comLexx Truss's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/trusslexx/?hl=enLexx Truss's Twitter: https://x.com/trusslexx?lang=enLexx Truss's LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/trusslexxSupport the showVisual Intonation Website: https://www.visualintonations.com/Visual Intonation Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/visualintonation/Vante Gregory's Website: vantegregory.comVante Gregory's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/directedbyvante/ To support me on Patreon (thank you): patreon.com/visualintonations Tiktok: www.tiktok.com/@visualintonation Tiktok: www.tiktok.com/@directedbyvante

… BMW Motorrad.

Triumph Motorcycles: Iconic motorcycles which were the choice of Steve McQueen and James Bond

“How can we make this so it physically works, but also how can we make it so that it looks amazing as well?”From James Bond to Mission Impossible to The Great Escape, chances are you have probably seen a Triumph motorcycle on the silver screen. Triumph's most famous bikes are probably their iconic 1960s Bonneville range, but they make a wide range of classic, urban and adventure bikes, and also supply engines for racing bikes, with some models having even broken land-speed records. The company was founded in 1902 and they currently sell around 100,000 bikes each year all around the world. The sleek design which made the 1960s models so famous is very important to the brand, but they also need to include all of the modern hardware that today's consumers expect, from cruise control to infotainment. Our producer Helen visited Triumph's headquarters in Hinckley to meet Chief Design Office Geoff Hurst. He showed her around their offices and the on-site Visitor Centre, and explained how clever design is required for their contemporary bikes to maintain all the style of their 1960s models, but include all of the technological advances of the 2020s. We also hear from Mark Lobo at PTC, who tells us about how the Windchill software is ideal for automotive and motorcycle manufacturing companies like Triumph who value quality and attention to detail. Find out more about Triumph here. Find out more about Windchill here.Your host is Paul Haimes from industrial software company PTC. Episodes are released bi-weekly.

On Sunday September 30th 2018, over 120,000 distinguished gentlefolk in over 650 cities worldwide will don their cravats, tustle their ties, press their tweed, and sit astride their classic and vintage styled motorcycles to raise funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and men's mental health. The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride was founded in Sydney, Australia by Mark Hawwa. It was inspired by a photo of Mad Men’s Don Draper astride a classic bike and wearing his finest suit. Mark decided a themed ride would be a great way to combat the often-negative stereotype of men on motorcycles, whilst connecting niche motorcycle communities together. That first ride in 2012 brought together over 2,500 riders across 64 cities. The success of the event encouraged the founder to consider how it could be used to support a worthy cause. Influenced by the tragedy of losing one of our ride hosts to depression, from 2016 we have seen a change in our health fundraising goals. Now, the funding of men's mental health programs is a Distinguished Gentleman's Ride focus, in addition to prostate cancer research through our new official charity partner The Movember Foundation and the support of our title sponsors Triumph Motorcycles and Zenith Watches.

The Candid Frame: Conversations on Photography

Jay Bartlett is a Los Angeles-based commercial photographer who has been shooting for over 10 years. A grass-roots photographer who in his early stages of his career pounded the pavement by cold calling and doing door to door advertising for new prospective clients.  He started out during his last year of his enlistment in the U.S. Airforce taking battlefield pictures while on active duty in Desert Shield. Honorably discharged, he then worked for a medical company honing his business skills for several years before he decided to go and launch his commercial photography business 5 years ago.  His attention to detail and his ability to create a positive client experience is why his current clients and the new continue to pursue his work. His lighting is very clean, technical. and distinctive to what we see in the commercial industry of images.   Today he fills his calendar by shooting environmental portraits and clothing for editorial, advertising, and fashion accounts and have worked for such illustrious commercial and corporate clients as Triumph Motorcycles, Harley Davidson, Home Shopping Network, and Margaritaville Apparel Group. He is also the go to person for a sports management firm who represents top sports professionals in the NFL, NBA, NHL and MLB today.  Resources: http://jaybartlettphoto.com/ http://www.artstreiber.com/ http://jaybartlettphoto.com/ info@thecandidframe.com
