It's time for The Truth!Today, Sam and Dougie are looking at Brighton & Hove Albion, who are having an impressive season - but also one that's been permeated with strange results and odd streaks of form that have been up and down. On the verge of the Champions League places, things look pretty good under Fabian Hurzeler, who was brought in from St Pauli at the start of the season, who guided them to their best ever start, before going on an 8-game unbeaten run, then losing 7-0 to Nottingham Forest, and bouncing back with a four game win streak that has them looking well-placed for a return to European football. We look at a big summer spending spree, the new additions and how they've fitted in, tactical changes throughout the course of the campaign and where the future lies for a club who have made a habit of hitting the nail on the head with almost everything they've done in recent years. Is their Champions League chase an outlier in what has been a weird Premier League season, or should we be expecting the Seagulls' trajectory to keep going firmly in an upward direction? Well, The Truth is somewhere in the middle... And remember, if you'd like more from the Rank Squad, including extra podcasts every Monday and Friday (including our weekly Postbox taking a look at the whole weekend of football) and access to our brilliant Discord community, then why not join us here on Patreon?
Kaoru Mitoma likes playing against Bournemouth, and on Tuesday night we travel to Falmer with the aim of keeping the Japanese star quiet. Whilst Brighton have a number of stars that can cause mischief, it's the Seagulls' number 22 that has often been the thorn in Cherries' side recently, so can a Zabarnyi-less Boscombe prevent the in-form striker from influencing the game? Sam and Tom discuss the next game, which is being dubbed a "European Six Pointer"... Thank you to everyone who has contributed to all our platforms. Hello everyone and welcome back to another episode of Unseen Incidents! This week, Pete is absent for BIG REASONS so I am all by myself, working through a pile of listener questions. I look at Brighton's ambitions and how they should approach a UCL or title run; whether Forest can repeat this exceptional campaign and the dangers of "opening up" a defensive gameplan; and whether Mikel Arteta has reached his ceiling at second place. No Burn Book this week, but please continue to send in questions and get in your suggestions for potential guests over at Patreon, Twitter, or Bluesky!
Jason floated onto the show on the back of the wins against Chelsea, to talk about Mitoma's worldie. Meanwhile, former Albion player Hans Kraay was in town, so Ady & Al caught up with him. In the pub.

As Liverpool sneak (just) past Wolves, both City and Arsenal both stake their claim and stay in the title race. Welcome dear listener to the latest episode. I'm Paul and I am joined by Daz. The Reds had a win away at Brighton last week, followed by 2 very big wins. We will look ahead to Villa at home - the last game before the 3rd international break. Part One - 2 games against Brighton: Brighton away in the Carabao Cup - 3-2, could have been comfortable with Jarrell's few moments Brighton at home - xG 1.65 to 1.01 (0.71 to 0.77) Game of 2 halves - first half we look slow, poorly shaped and lacking some energy. 9th minute Darwin chance. 14th minute we look as outnumbered as we have at any time this season (Mitoma?). Second half looked immediately different, then by 69, we were ready to take over the game. Estupian was man of the match until he wasn't. Subs at 66 were huge - Jones and DIaz. But chances had started to flow (Gomes, VVD, Mo). Gakpo, vintage Salah (164 EPL goals now) and the Kop. The high press. Joe Gomez was magnificent. Endo then helps close the game down. Part Two - Leverkusen: 4-0 over the German champions - xG 3.79 to 0.80 (0.63 v 0.16 first half). Statsbomb has 2.9 for Liverpool 3rd defeat in 18 months for Leverkusen Very even in the first half - you could see why they have been hard to beat. Lots of intricate movement. Second half, the Curtis pass to Luis Diaz was the trigger Second goal again within 5 minutes; Now Liverpool are 93.3% chance of finishing in the top 8 Part Three - Villa at home brings us to the end of this difficult spell: Narratives Villa are quietly in a slump Team selection Prediction We will be back next week with a review of the Villa game. On this Episode, Ted and Patrick do a deep dive on Brentford's fast starts to game and how teams are undervaluing set pieces. Next, they move to Bayern Munich's recent games and their high defensive line looking fragile. To end, the move to quick hits on Real Madrid's injury situation and their need to spend big in the winter window, Micky van de Ven struggle in Spurs' loss to to Brighton, and Cole Palmer during Chelsea's 1-1 draw with Forest.
Ste is here for the latest Liverpool News Update with the news that Liverpool are 'keeping tabs' on Kaoru Mitoma as a potential Mo Salah replacement, other news includes Kostas Tsimikas is set to sign a new contract with The Reds, Virgil Van Dijk has been handed a further one match suspension & £100,000 fine.Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/redmentv. James is joined by Manchester United fan Gary Robinson and Brighton fan Sam Murray to discuss the latest at their clubs, the all important FPL assets at them and preview the GW5 meeting at Old Trafford. United, never feel more than one bad results away from crisis. Are on the pitch concerns now adding to issues the club have faced off the pitch? What can Brighton do to outwit low block opponents such as Everton and West Ham? Does a set of difficult fixtures ironically add to the appeal of Brighton players for Fantasy Managers? Plus, is it time to sell the stars at these clubs in FPL? Should Fernandes or Rashford be binned for the likes of Son? Are returns for the likes of Estupinan and Mitoma now less likely over coming week? + lots more, including Onana, Amrabat, Hojlund, Van Hecke, Ferguson, Joao Pedro and dreaded rotation... Ever wondered how to decide between Turner and Onana or whether Baldock from Sheffield United is worth a spot in your lineup? This episode is a deep dive into game week two, where we pull apart the performances of Forest versus Sheffield United and Fulham versus Brentford. We predict a 1-1 draw for Forest and Sheffield and share why incorporating Mbuemo into your team could be a strategic move. You'll also get our insights on Wissa's value and the promise of Joao Pedro as a top striker. This week, we also turned our attention to the Fantasy Premier League. We dissected the potential of Liverpool players like Gakpo and Nunez, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Mohamed Salah, and navigated the affordability of players in the 5.5 to 7.5 bracket in midfield. We took a closer look at the fixtures of teams such as West Ham, Brighton, Wolves, Newcastle, Brentford, Fulham, Palace, Bournemouth, Chelsea, Luton, and Forest. You'll hear our thoughts on whether Richie is a smart buy for spurs and whether Chilwell is a smart transfer option. Our discussion went into overdrive as we evaluated Wolves' performance against Manchester United and Brighton's performance against Chelsea. We asked if the Wolves are as formidable as they seem and whether Brighton can keep up their good game. The debate got heated as we weighed in on hits versus the early wildcard, and we put Brighton players like March, Mitoma, and Estupinan under the microscope. Finally, we pored over the Spurs vs Man United match and the potential ripple effect of Angball, asking if switching Richie for Mitoma and Timber for Chilwell could result in more points. Stay tuned for an engaging and enlightening football discussion!
