Welcome to another episode of Death Don't Do Fiction, the AIPT Movies podcast! The podcast about the enduring legacy of our favorite movies! This February we're celebrating “Dreddruary,” where we cover movies based on the British comic book character, Judge Dredd! In this week's episode, Alex, Tim, and Matt discuss Sylvester Stallone's misguided 1995 schlockfest, Judge Dredd!Recycled food! Bedazzled codpieces! Distracting lifts! A cool, creepy cyborg! A shockingly sneaky, giant robot! Lethal holograms! Futuristic court drama! Stylish garbs of justice designed by Gianni Versace! A strong score by Predator's Alan Silvestri and cinematography by Aliens' Adrian Biddle! An original song from The Cure! A surprisingly faithful comic adaptation in every way except for the lead character! A visual treat with incredible production design, animatronics, and visual effects, including one of the greatest fictional mega cities in cinema! A solid cast that includes James Remar (briefly), Armand Assante, Max von Sydow, Diane Lane, Rob Schneider unfortunately, and Sylvester Stallone's ego derailing the movie! Dark themes of police corruption and eugenics in this silly movie that maybe works better as a disappointing sequel to Demolition Man, from a frustrated director who loved both the source material and apparently Blade Runner! In addition, Alex shares his spoiler-free thoughts on Captain America: Brave New World, Oz Perkins' new horror comedy, The Monkey, and the final nail in the Sonyverse coffin, Kraven the Hunter! You can find Death Don't Do Fiction on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts. As always, if you enjoy the podcast, be sure to leave us a positive rating, subscribe to the show, and tell your friends! The Death Don't Do Fiction podcast brings you the latest in movie news, reviews, and more! Steve takes us on a journey through the complex and often misunderstood world of police corruption and the legal system's role in uncovering the truth. As a seasoned criminal defense attorney, Steve shares his personal experiences and insights, shedding light on the adversarial nature of the courtroom and the critical role defense attorneys play in ensuring justice prevails. Steve emphasizes the importance of cross-examination as a powerful tool to expose such deceit, highlighting the adversarial system's design to find the truth through rigorous questioning and evidence presentation. One of the most compelling aspects of the episode is Steve's recounting of real courtroom stories. He shares an instance where a police officer, despite having the opportunity to lie, chose to uphold the truth, demonstrating the integrity that many officers maintain. However, Steve also recounts moments where he caught officers red-handed in their dishonesty, illustrating the challenges defense attorneys face in their pursuit of justice. For anyone interested in the inner workings of the legal system, the challenges of criminal defense, or the pursuit of truth and justice, this episode of Lawyer Talk is a must-listen. UPCOMING LIVESTREAM!: https://www.podbean.com/lsw/NpowGT0Kuk7?lsid=Pqw7yIoduWK    Summary Princess Diana's plight with the media abuse she experienced is well documented, yet, decades later we are still learning new details. Leading us down a trail of Media and Police Corruption - Byline Times' Own, Peter Jukes, has the story. Kate Middleton's cancer diagnosis has not only served as media fodder globally, but it is now being used as a whipping stick against a memoir that is over 1 year old. While Kate Middleton's diagnosis is sad, and we wish her all the best, it in no way absolves her from the truthful words and actions she used against the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. We can acknowledge that she has behaved in horrible ways, while still showing concern for her illness.  Lastly, King Charles allegedly "regrets" how he allowed Princess Diana to raise William and Harry. I have never been more disgusted with Charles the Cruel than I am now... which is saying a lot. To lay blame to a devoted mother and wife, who is now deceased, for your own shortcomings THEN AND NOW, is shameful.   Sources: 1. This episode continues the investigation into the disappearance of Ieshia Jackson.  It was Halloween night 2020, and 22-year-old Ieshia was getting ready to go to a party. She lived in El Dorado, Arkansas just a short distance away from her mother, her younger brother, and the rest of her family, but because she had had a couple of break-ins at her new home, she was staying at her uncle's. Ieshia and her mother were very close and normally spoke a few times per day. So by November 2, 2020 when Laquita had not heard from her daughter, she was getting worried. Laquita, her boyfriend, and her son jumped in the car and headed to Ieshia's.  When the family got there they could see immediately that something was very wrong. Laquita went in and found her daughter's stuff there, including her wallet and cell phone. The place looked like she had just stepped out for five minutes. But Ieshia never came back home.  If you have a case you'd like Catherine Townsend to look into, you can reach out to the Hell and Gone Murder Line at 678-744-6145.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Has policing in America become too militarized and corrupt? Former LEO Dr. Byron Davis pulls back the curtain in this hard-hitting interview. Studio Sponsor: Cardio Miracle - "The finest heart and health supplement in the world!": https://www.briannicholsshow.com/heart Dr. Byron Davis has a unique perspective as both a former law enforcement officer and an activist lobbying for police reform. In this interview, host Brian Nichols digs deep into the root causes behind growing claims of overreach and corruption. What structural flaws allow bad actors to repeatedly infiltrate the ranks? Can citizens really enact change against police unions and entrenched political interests? Davis traces much of today's problems to a lack of proper accountability. Without term limits for appointed positions, cronyism spreads as reform attempts face institutional blockade. He argues everyday citizens can spark real investigations through coordinated FOIA requests - resulting already in some Tennessee resignations and ongoing TBI probes. The controversial policy of civil asset forfeiture demonstrates overfinancialization incentives according to both Nichols and Davis. Designed to hurt drug traffickers, it often ensnares regular citizens carrying cash while providing slush funding for some departments. Complete abolishment legislation could find broad non-partisan appeal. Back the Blue? Davis suggests nationwide training and hiring standards would reduce incidents of misconduct. Culturally, some tradeoff exists between effective interdiction of organized crime and preservation of civil liberties - particularly in jurisdictions along major drug transit routes. Responsible leaders must manage that balance carefully in light of rising cartel infiltration. Overall an insightful look behind the Thin Blue Line with a whistleblower unafraid to call corruption where he sees it. There are glimmers of hope though if enough citizens awaken to diligently exercise their oversight authority starting at the local ballot box. Can the system still reform itself - or is the institutional rot now simply too deep? ❤️ Order Cardio Miracle (https://www.briannicholsshow.com/heart) with code TBNS at checkout for 15% off and take a step towards better heart health and overall well-being!
