Blades in the Dark is a game about daring criminals pulling off impossible heists. Our crew immediately used fire to escape the box we voluntarily hid in, assaulted two undercover cops, locked them inside our escape crate, stole accounting records, accidentally got high during evidence collection, and somehow convinced ourselves this was still a stealth mission. Honestly, I think the cult is thriving. Show Notes Part 3 finally dropped us into our first real score and the sewer cult wasted absolutely no time proving they were both competent and deeply concerning. Tasked with infiltrating an illegal leviathan blood refinery hidden beneath an apothecary, we chose the most sensible plan imaginable: smuggle ourselves inside in a supply crate. Naturally this immediately turned into an emergency fire escape situation because Talon solved confinement with alchemy and arson. Once inside, things somehow became more chaotic. We discovered the "guards" were actually Bluecoats running security for the operation, meaning our weird little cult had accidentally punched local law enforcement in the face before the score even properly started. Rather than murder them and summon ghost problems, we tied them up, stuffed them back into the crate, and continued the mission like this was all part of the plan. It absolutely was not. The score also gave us a chance to see Blades in the Dark really shine mechanically. Flashbacks let us retroactively prepare, clocks tracked rising danger, and the system constantly pushed us forward instead of letting us stall in planning mode. Every success created new problems and every problem somehow made the story better. Meanwhile Talon uncovered suspicious ledgers pointing to illicit operations while Roper discovered the drugs in the least scientific way possible by accidentally inhaling them and immediately becoming evidence. It was a perfect demonstration of why this game works so well. The mechanics encourage momentum, but the players create the disasters. By the end we had stolen evidence, infiltrated the operation, mildly traumatized two cops, and learned an important lesson. Never let the ghost guy do quality control on contraband. Key Takeaways The crew's first score involved infiltrating an illegal leviathan blood refinery hidden beneath an apothecary Smuggling themselves inside in supply crates immediately escalated into improvised arson Talon used alchemy and fire to escape confinement and start the mission The refinery operation appeared connected to illicit drug production The guards turned out to be Bluecoats acting as security for the site Killing enemies in Doskvol creates major problems because ghosts are very real Flashbacks allowed retroactive preparation without lengthy planning sessions Clocks helped track danger, progress, and rising alert levels Talon recovered ledgers that may contain coded evidence of illegal activity Roper accidentally sampled the contraband and became mildly intoxicated during evidence collection The score highlighted how Blades in the Dark rewards momentum over perfect planning The cult continues to be alarmingly effective despite having absolutely no business succeeding Welcome to the RPGBOT Podcast. Chris Amey opens up about three decades in policing - from joining the Met in the early nineties to dealing with football hooliganism, riots, major events, and the changing face of the force. From Chelsea, Millwall, West Ham and Tottenham clashes to control rooms, CCTV, public order units and moments of real danger, he reflects on what it was like policing London when the streets could turn quickly. But behind the uniform was a career shaped by pressure, politics, trauma, and frustration. Chris speaks honestly about austerity, recruitment, falling standards, police pay, vetting failures, misconduct, PTSD, and why he believes modern policing has become fractured. He also reflects on high-profile cases, the Jill Dando murder, the London riots, and the officers he believes have been failed by the system. After leaving the Met for Dorset, Chris helped tackle crime in Boscombe before later facing his own battle inside the organisation he had served for almost thirty years. It's a raw look at loyalty, leadership, public service, and what happens when the job changes beyond recognition. This is the eventful life of Chris Amey. 698: 'Constitutional' mayoral candidate alleges election fraud and police corruption

Last year, the City of Minot held a special mayoral election that made statewide headlines. In part, because the previous mayor had resigned in disgrace after sending a pornographic text message to the city attorney. In part, also, because of the cast of four candidates running to replace him, two of which had significant criminal records. Josiah Roise was one of those two -- he was charged with resisting arrest in Florida, and at one point was deemed a fugitive -- and he's running again this year against Mayor Mark Jantzer, who won last year's special election. Roise, who brands himself a "constituitonal mayor," got just 324 when he ran last time, though he attributes that at least in part to what he characterizes as vote fraud. "People that voted for me, people that I've never met before, all reported the same thing, which is that they put their ballot into the machine and it basically just eats it like an ATM will do that sometimes," he said on this episode of Plain Talk in an interview requested by his campaign. Roise says he made complaints to local and statewide election officials, though when pressed, he admitted that he hasn't brought the matter to court. He also claims to received input from the participant in a widely debunked film '2000 Mules' by political provacateur Dinesh D'Souza alleging fraud in the naitonal 2020 election, though even D'Souza himself has now backed away from its central claims. Roise, who filed a federal lawsuit against the Minot Police Department and Ward County Sheriff's Department over a search warrant executed on his property for bomb-making materials (an associate of Roise's later pleaded guilty to two felonies related to detonating a pipe bomb), also claims that local law enforcement attempted to plant drugs on his person. "I could smell the marijuana on the officers. And it's like, wow, my instincts were right not to comply, not to let them search my truck. They kept on saying, 'If you just let it s let us search it, we'll be out of here real quick.' They were going to plant it on me. So, it's like, I have zero trust in them," he said. Why does he call himself a constitutional candidate? "The biggest things are spending and government accountability," he said during our interview. "When you try and hold the government accountable, when you, you know, sue them or do whatever it is, it doesn't even really work because the system is kind of bent against the average American," he continued. "And we're just supposed to be a government of the people, by the people, for the people. It's not supposed to be this thing where the government rules over you. We're supposed to be on a level playing field." Roise says he'd like to cut $6 million from the City of Minot's budget, and proposed merging the Minot Police Department with the local sheriff's department under the theory that police department's aren't constitutional. He argued that the modern police department is a "bureaucracy" and a "British thing" that America's founding fathers deliberately chose not to include in the Constitution. "I thought we need to only have sheriffs and deputies because sheriffs are elected. Please chiefs are not," he said. "So, if you got a bad, abusive or corrupt police chief, how do you get rid of him? You have to convince the majority of the city council and the mayor that he's got to go, and that's their guy." Roise's theory about constitutional sheriffs was a key tenet in the Posse Comitatus movement of the 1970s founded by William Potter Gale. Perhaps the most infamous adherent of Gale's movement was Gordon Kahl, the leader of a Posse Comitatus chapter in Medina that got into a deadly standoff with U.S. Marshals in 1983. "In fact, the sheriff is the highest official in his county," Roise told us during the interview. "On his turf, he's about equal to governor. Like, the sheriff is above the mayor. He's above everybody else. The sheriff is the most powerful. And that's how it is in all 50 states." Also on this episode, guest co-host Rep. Zac Ista and I discuss a recent report commissioned by the legislature about term limits. The report found strong support for term limits, but also some confusion about who they apply to among voters. If you want to participate in Plain Talk, just give us a call or text at 701-587-3141. How the towing industry is linked to police corruption

A wide-scale investigation into police corruption in Ontario – Project South – led to the arrests of 27 people, including seven Toronto Police Services officers and one retired Toronto Police officer. The allegations range from a conspiracy to traffic Toronto Police uniforms, to selling data to members of organized crime groups, to a plot to murder a corrections officer. But one of the civilians charged in the operation had links to the tow truck industry, which has a documented history of violence and criminal connections. That led Globe and Mail reporter Molly Hayes to question what links exist between the police corruption investigation and the industry. She has reported on violence and corruption in the towing industry for years. Today, she joins the show to talk about why towing has been so prone to corruption, and its ties to a major criminal investigation. Questions? Comments? Ideas? This week, we follow one relentless prosecutor as she pulls at a thread that unravels disturbing alleged corruption, institutional failure, and a justice system that seems more interested in protecting itself than protecting victims. On January 7, 1995, 43-year-old Connie Townsend’s home burned to the ground in Brockwell, Arkansas in front of over 20 witnesses. Connie was moving out of her house that day. She had separated from her estranged husband, David Townsend years earlier. David had been staying with his parents, Dale and Ramona, and also with his girlfriend of three years, JoAnn Ellis. But according to Connie’s daughters, Stacy and Amber, David was angry that day and had threatened Connie. They also said that David had threatened to burn the house down in the past. Connie’s body was found in a utility room; she was lying face down with a pair of sewing scissors underneath her body. Investigators said that Connie had died of smoke and soot inhalation, and according to the autopsy report there was no tissue left. And it seemed like after investigators went through the charred remains of her trailer, they had a lot more questions. Was Connie’s death due to an accidental fire, or murder and arson? We had heard from Connie’s daughters that Connie’s body was found in a junk room, a bedroom that they kind of used as a utility room. If there was a fire, why would Connie shut herself into a closet in the back of the utility room, a place where there was no escape? Or could someone have put her in that closet? The Case That Could EXPOSE Police Corruption – Sandra Birchmore Deserves Justice How do you fake a suicide and get away with it—at least for a few years? That's the unsettling question surrounding the alleged murder of Sandra Birchmore, a young woman who was groomed and abused by not just one, but multiple police officers in Stoughton, Massachusetts. The prime suspect? Officer Matthew Farwell. But he wasn't working alone—his twin brother and another officer were also tangled in this horrifying case. For a while, it looked like they'd pulled it off. Birchmore's death was ruled a suicide, case closed. But then, the FBI stepped in, and suddenly, things didn't add up. How did so many people miss the glaring evidence of a cover-up? Or worse—how many of them chose to look the other way? Retired FBI Special Agent Jennifer Coffindaffer joins us to break down the disturbing details. When those who are supposed to protect us become the predators, how deep does the corruption go? #SandraBirchmore #TrueCrime #PoliceCorruption #HiddenKillers #FBIInvestigation #MatthewFarwell #JusticeForSandra Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE?
