THE CHOICE BEFORE YOU IS A GOVERNMENT OF THE SUPER WEALTHY OR ONE OF THE PEOPLE, BY THE PEOPLE, FOR THE PEOPLE
HWOW DO WE NAVIGATE THE TENSION BETWEEN CHAOS AND COMMUNITY? REFLECTING ON THE WORDS OF LEADERS LIKE DR.MARTIN LUTHER KING JR., THIS EXPLORATION BY REV. DR. MARLIN LAVENHAR DELVES INTO THE INTERSECTIONS OF DEMOCRACY, EQUALITY AND ECONOMIC JUSTICE. WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO TRULY PARTICIPATE IN SHAPING A GOVERNMENT 'OF THE PEOPLE, BY THE PEOPLE, FOR THE PEOPLE"? AS THE DIVIDE BETWEEN WEALTH AND OPPORTUNITY WIDENS, AND QUESTIONS OF HUMAN RIGHTS GROW URGENT, THE CALL TO ACTION HAS NEVER BEEN CLEARER. COULD THIS BE A MOMENT OF PROFOUND REBIRTH FOR OUR NATION?

Toward the end of the American Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln read one of the most profound speeches on the battlefield at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. In that speech, Lincoln talked about America being a nation, “Of The People, By The People, And For The People,” thus ascribing and affirming that America was a nation of self-governing patriots. During the last century, and in our current century, the Cabal of Deep State Operatives has quietly and patiently changed our nation to that of one governed by tyrants. Such a government now wages war against Americans. It can only win this war if we allow it to progress further.

In this episode of Pop! Beware of false prophets, lest we perish at their hand! In this series end we observed Texas Democrats bring the absolute heat by dislocating themselves and their families, from an absurd GOP ideology promoting The Big Lie. It's shuddering to think of, that we might have very well experienced what Haiti just did with a coup on the prime minister and his wife. We will no longer be subject to minority rule in which it serves to oppress, suppress. Because we know, emphatically that Democracy heals, because it is FOR the People, BY The People, Power to The People. It's truly depressing to think that we couldn't keep democracy alive or that folks could sweep under the rug almost 625,523 people gone between the US and Canada. But I am emboldened each day, by your voice, your experiences, your critical thinking and the fact that so many of you out there are calling out the ridiculous theories that aren't based in any facts whatsoever. Ignorance is dangerous. If the past half year has taught us anything at all, it is that one would prefer to be in a space where you didn't have to lock your car doors at night. It's everything from Anthony Bourdain to Capital Craziness, how to read someone for filth and your hot girl summer guide and the tea on Megan the Stallian. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/kojenwa/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/kojenwa/support
Hello! I wasn't sure what to call this episode. It covers influencer ethics, but in a largely political sense rather than ethical travel itself. In essence, I'm looking at whether travel bloggers and influencers have a responsibility to their audience to be mindful of political and ethical concerns of the destinations they/we visit, and whether we should consider avoiding destinations if their government or culture is at odds with our own brand ethics and image. As well as personal housekeeping (upcoming holidays, getting a VA), topics discussed include: * Why this pod was scheduled so far in advance * I now have a Virtual Assistant and she's going to be good for me * I Hope You've Flossed This Morning * Ethical governments rarely come up in everyday conversations about holidays * Travel concerns while being in the Rainbow Community * Government rule: By The People, For The People * The problems of visiting Uganda, for example * ... but do boycotts hurt the everyday citizen? * Visiting as a brand on a job vs visiting as an individual on a holiday * No country is innocent and guilt-free * Ethical travel is a relative concept anyway Contributions in this episode come from: * Amanda (Not A Ballerina) * Roobens (Been Around The Globe) * Tayo (5 to 9 Traveller) * Kate-Frankie (This Could Lead To Anywhere) * Laura Lundahl A PDF transcript of this episode is available. As always, if you have anything to say about the topic, or indeed about my podcasting in general, leave a comment or let me know. The pod has a Facebook group you can join, too. I also have a Patreon - if you like what you hear, and want to access exclusive content (or just to show your appreciation), then head on over. Until next time, bye for now. :)

Louis Avallone and Stephen Parr see no reason to still have troops in Washington, DC, nor to have those fences around the US Capitol Building. This is supposed to be government OF THE PEOPLE, BY THE PEOPLE and FOR THE PEOPLE — not the “government of the government, afraid of the people”. If the elected officials in the Federal Capital are that afraid of WE THE PEOPLE, then they are doing things wrong. And to “circle back around”, because if the importance of clearing out of Washington, DC politicians who do not believe in WE THE PEOPLE, the Republican Party must strongly unite together under Trump’s and others’ leadership. The 2nd Amendment reads: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” In 2008 in the District of Columbia v. Heller, the Supreme Court ruled that this Amendment applies to individuals. Biden may be planning to use Executive Orders (which he previously said was “dictatorial”) to either ban further sale of semi-automatic weapons or to confiscate them. Further, he is planning to create situations where gun manufacturers can be sued until they go out of business. Either way, this is definitely going to be fought through the Courts.Calling in from home because of the dangerous weather, our American Mamas, Teri Netterville and Denise Arthur, discuss the problems of the Democrats’ double-standards regarding what they have decided will be “allowed” thought, speech, and behavior for Conservatives as compared to the “encouraged” intolerance, spoken hate, and planned violence they encourage to happen by their liberal supporters. How do we find a way to undo this when somehow so many on the liberal side do not even recognize they have been manipulated by very evil liberal politicians, Hollywood personalities, and the press to think this double-standard is appropriate?Police Officer Deaths jumped nearly 60% in 2020 as compared to 2019. During that same time, anti-police attitudes increased. The purpose of having police is actually in the Declaration of Independence — to secure the Rights of Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness for our American population. This means police must enforce the laws which exist to protect those American Rights. Stephen Parr and Louis Avallone look at a number of anti-police “reforms” which have been done and how they are or are not working, such as bail reform, defunding the police, and using social workers as a replacement for police.Rasmussen did a poll on whether or not it would be good for the economy for the Federal Government to have more or less control over the US Economy. 54% said it would be bad and only 19% said it would be good! Every demographic in this poll agreed having government too involved in either business or personal matters would be bad. Why is this so different than what the most recent Presidential election would have indicated?
It takes a lot of work to undo white supremacy. For many who have been committed to this work, it’s a lifetime of protests, campaigning, donating, and showing up. And sometimes, it can feel like an impossible task. Following the attack by the pro-Trump extremists at the U.S. Capitol last week, we invited longtime Bay Area activist Cat Brooks to talk with us about how she’s been processing everything, and how to make your activism sustainable. This is the third episode of By The People, The Bay podcast’s new series highlighting the way democracy shows up in the places around us, and how we can all plug in. A vote in Oakland today goes farther than it did prior to 1980. That’s when voters passed Measure H, which moved the city from at-large to district-based elections . The change was huge for Black and brown voters, who now had the opportunity to elect candidates from their neighborhoods instead of being represented by white men backed by money and power. The reason why Measure H passed can be traced back through decades of organizing by Black activists seeking political representation. Guest: Darwin BondGraham, editor of The Oaklandside Read the transcript here. You can read Darwin’s full article here Donate to KQED and support The Bay or subscribe to our weekly newsletter!
This is the second episode of By The People, The Bay podcast's new series highlighting the way democracy shows up in the places around us, and how we can all plug in. Many activists work their whole lives from outside the systems they want changed. That’s what Shakira Simley did, until recently. Simley is now Director of San Francisco’s Office of Racial Equity and says she brought a lot of the lessons she learned as an activist with her into City Hall. Simley talks with us about why it’s important to see public institutions as ours to behold — and change. What if you had the next, world-changing, business idea? Your business could change the trajectory of someone’s life or impact the way people interact or have an impact on the environment or give people access to clean drinking water or create urban farming and give people more access to affordable, real food? But, the reality for you is, you don’t have the resources to implement the idea. Maybe it’s the money, or the support, or the technology… you know the idea is gold, and you know you can do it, but you just don’t have what you need to actually get it done. What if there was someone, or even a GROUP of people, who would come alongside you to help you change the world? My guest this week is Kate Goodall, the co-founder and CEO of Halcyon House, one of the worlds premier and honestly, most unique business incubator I’ve ever come across. What they are doing to cultivate entrepreneurs from around the world in the social good space is AMAZING.
