Hello! I have been away in the bush for three days and three nights with just a tarp, sleeping bag and water to my name. No tent, no pillow, no torch, NO BREAKFAST. Off the back of this deeply moving ritual (which I'll tell you about soon), I wanted to release this equally as moving and foresty interview with Tessa Campisi.Tessa is a writer, poet, audio visual artist, activist and radio host who speaks with the timbre of an old growth tree and tells stories that will rustle your leaves. How does one judge the impact of their work? It's a topic that I talk about with author, activist, and teacher H.D. Hunter in the latest episode. He has a new book out on Aug. 20, “Something Like Right,” and it's his first foray into the world of young adult fiction. We talk about what new lessons this offered after working primarily in elementary/middle school fiction and how he enjoyed the experience. H.D. shares the origin of Zay, the main character of the book, and his role in the story, which touches on themes of love, broken families and healing from generational trauma. H.D. shares how Zay came to be, and their evolution during the writing process, as well as the possibilities of more books in this genre. We also speak on the “Futureland” series, a trilogy which recently came to its conclusion. Set in a theme park where literally anything can happen, it's focused on Cam Walker and his family, the park's creators, and their many adventures over the three books. We dive deep into this, as well as what may be next for the series. H.D. has had the chance to reach many young readers through this work, and we talk about what he hopes they have taken away from the experience.   PHOTO BY CALDWELL PROPHOTO, LLC. Cam Walker (pictured), from Friends of the Earth in Melbourne, was excited, relieved, and delighted with the outcome of the May 21 Federal election in Australia, so much so that he was somewhat distracted when talking recently on a webinar with the Bayside Climate Crisis Group (BCCG) that he almost forgot that purpose of his visit was to talk about halting logging in the pristine wilderness of Little Dargo in north-west Victoria. As campaigns coordinator at Friends of the Earth, Cam is untroubled in talking about climate change at work as that is one of his prime responsibilities. However, the Climate and Health Alliance (CAHA) recognises and acknowledges that many people are both troubled and concerned about raising the issue with fellow workers, customers and management and so the first in a series of webinars about climate and health conducted by CAHA was about discussing climate change at work. One of the speakers at the event was South Australia general practitioner, Dr Kate Wylie, who talked about how and when she and her patients talked about the state of the planet. Evidence of Dr Wylie's eagerness to do something about climate change can be seen on her website "Climate Medicine". In this episode, we spoke to Cam Walker aka Struthless - an illustrator, cartoonist, animator and I would say mental health pioneer. His YouTube channel has been a source of comfort for me more times than one and i know how many other people he would have helped with his blunt honesty and dark humour too. This episode is all about sobriety, drunk war stories and the ways drinking can sometimes make us feel about ourselves. We recorded this episode a while back whilst I wasn't drinking and I'm now recording this intro a week after probably my drunkest night of 2021 which has thrown me into an all-too-familiar mental health spin. I've had a love hate relationship with alcohol and despite last weeks' overindulgence, i've managed to get a pretty decent handle now on knowing my limits. It only took me about 10 years, numerous blackouts, one devastating break-up and countless sundays of self loathing but hey progress is progress.Full disclosure and potentially a trigger warning, this episode does delve into the topic of alcohol and drug addiction so maybe give this one a skip if it's not for you today. As we didn't feel comfortable, confident or to be really honest, capable enough to write and record a meditation about addiction - we've created one around not taking your drinking too far and trying to stay true to your good intentions for your evening. This meditation will not be for people battling serious addiction issues and we'd advice anyone going through it to seek professional help and not help on a podcast nicknamed the fast food of meditationFollow us on IG - @relateandmeditateFollow Daisy Clementine on IG - @daisyclementinaFollow Rachel Crethar on IG - @rachelcretharFollow Cam on IG -@struthless69Please share this episode with anyone you feel it may benefit,  give us a rating on Apple Podcasts and subscribe to be kept in the loop with new episode releases. Please also drop us a review with what you need a meditation for and we'll create an episode in your honour - promise. We hope you enjoy the episode. Loads of love!
