Huzzah! Your Unaccredited Australians are back with another deep dive into the shallow pool of local culture. This time our fractured necks emerge strengthened by NAILS! A word that can mean a variety of things, such as “nails”, “nails”, and even “nails”. This timeless Round the Twist episode relates the classic moral that it's okay to be grotesquely disfigured so long as you're really good looking via that narrative's standard media: horny fourteen-year-old girls. Can Tony find the Bra Shop? Is Bronson Dorksexual? Does Linda find out if having a middle-aged man urinate in your ear is good for heartbreak? All this and the kinds of letters from our fans that prove the worst forms of stereotypes.
It's our first guest episode of the season and a really brilliant one at that! Yes, we are thrilled to welcome DJ, author and altogether fabulous Fat Tony.Tony famously doesn't take requests so we are truly honoured that he has agreed to take on the challenge of quitting 'the white stuff' aka sugar for 2 weeks.Sugar is one that we can have a bit of a rollercoaster relationship with and you guys don't need us to tell you that having too much of it ain't a good thing. Excessive sugar consumption has been linked to a whole host of health conditions such as diabetes type 2, metabolic syndrome, fatty liver disease, obesity and tooth decay to just name a few. Since Tony is a self confessed sugar fiend we thought he would be perfect for the challenge! The rules: Tony has to completely remove all refined sugar which means no cakes, biscuits, fizzy drinks, ice-cream and chocolate. He can have natural sugar found in fresh fruit and with a focus on including complex carbohydrates, protein and healthy fats. Can Tony kick the reliance on sugar once and for all and have a more balanced relationship with it? And how does he feel after having completed the 2-weeks without it? Tony's book ‘I Don't Take Requests' is available here https://www.amazon.co.uk/I-Dont-Take-Requests/dp/B098HB3Z5S This season is kindly sponsored by LYMA. "The Army of One" is by far the most reflective, somber, and inconclusive season finales of The Sopranos so far, and yet it's a quiet, unsettling masterpiece. Chris, Paul, & Jordan discuss how this episode simultaneously closes the emotional threads on Season 3, but also leaves many intriguing possibilities for Season 4. A lot happens in this hour, but the big questions that loom over the head of our favorite Jersey Mob boss in this episode have no easy answers: How has the life Tony leads affected his children? Can Tony and Carmela save AJ from the catastrophic fate met by Jackie Jr and the many other doomed young men we've met on this show? Can Meadow reconcile her own sense of morality when she, more than anyone else, is able to recognize the hypocrisy and "bullshit" of the family she was born into? This finale wrestles with these questions in a beautiful and satisfying way, while also providing no solid answers. Plus! Shenanigans with Janice, more great work from Joe Pantoliano as Ralphie, the return of a healthy Uncle Junior, sneaky business from Johnny Sack, and we get to meet Paulie's adorable mother! All this and more, just as soon as we almost drown in three inches of water at the penguin exhibit... Tony Stark is having a rough time. After facing his eminent death during the battle of New York he’s been reliving the trauma over and over for a year and a half. Can Tony pull himself together with a cheap trick and a cheesy one-liner to win the day and regain his sanity? AJ Soprano has never seen a gutter but he has seen The Matrix. This week on Pod Yourself A Gun, Samer Kalaf, Managing Editor of Defector Media, joins Matt and Vince to talk about one of their favorite subjects: beautiful little idiot AJ Soprano. Samer sets the bar high for future guests by not only taking notes for episode 3 season 9, "The Telltale Moozadell," but he’s actually seen all of The Sopranos. The episode itself is near perfect (solid B+), and features a young Lady Gaga as one of the girls AJ is trying to impress when he goes all Fred Durst and breaks stuff in the school late at night (on his mother's birthday?!?). The fellas learn from Vince’s wife that unlike young men, not all young women go through a needless destruction phase. Good for them, I guess, but everyone should get to break one window in their life just to feel that power. Speaking of power, Gloria can’t resist the power of Tony’s raw, animal sexuality, even at the zoo, when he’s surrounded by gorillas with the exact same posture and body type. Can Tony resist the urge to recognize his mother’s traits in Gloria? Resist the urge to break stuff long enough to listen and leave a five star review on Apple Podcasts.
