We take another low budget flight across Europe and summarise what's happened on the continent this week. Inter came out on top in the Milan Derby thanks to goals from Lukaku and Lauturo Martinez and as a result are now top of Serie A by four points. The title race in Spain could now be a three horse race after Atleti lost 2-0 at home to Levante, Barca drew 1-1 with Cadiz while Real Madrid scrapped past Real Valladolid 1-0. In Germany, Bayern Munich still seem to be hungover from the WCC win and went down 2-1 at Eintracht Frankfurt. RB Leipzig moved to within two points fo the leaders with a 3-0 win over Hertha. In traditional "Final 3rd" fashion, we have no idea what's really going on so we let Scorcher take lead in this weeks segment. He starts off with his customary, "I played with". This week, he asks us to name as many players as possible that played with both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. We also look at a One2Watch - something that we have't done in forever. Something new we thought we'd try this week is guess the celebration. it's exactly what it sounds like. Scorcher performs a celebration and we have to guess which player made it famous. That's pretty much it. Make sure you Like - Share - Subscribe
Rui Pereira Jr. filled in for Alex Donno on this episode, as Alex was partying on a yacht in the Florida Keys after Inter's Derby Della Madonnina victory. Rui and Jerry Mancini talked about what went right for Inter, what went wrong for Milan, and Antonio Conte's recent success on the touchline.
After a ridiculously long wait, Everton fans finally had the chance to celebrate a victory at Anfield. Sure, a ridiculous penalty decision played a part but nothing is going to take the shine off a memorable evening for the Toffees who continue to flirt with the Champions League place. They couldn't, could they? Fantasy Football is under the spotlight after several Aston Villa players accidentally alerted eagle-eyed Twitter bots to a Jack Grealish injury by trading him out of their teams before last weekend's game with Leicester. Worth a LOL or is there something a bit sinister about it all? We also check in on Jesse Lingard, who is firing on all cylinders for West Ham, mull over the title race in Italy, where Romelu Lukaka helped fire Inter to a 3-0 derby win over AC Milan, and pick our favourite Championship managers. After the break, Novak Djokovic surprised absolutely nobody by winning the Australian Open again. Weirdly, for a bloke who has hardly made friends Down Under, the locals chose to boo mention of the Covid-19 vaccine rather than the Serb. Elsewhere in not football, we discuss Nike's decision to shelve a 'super' spike that risked undermining Usain Bolt's legacy and discuss scenic sporting venues after the NHL was forced to delay an outdoor game due to sunshine at Lake Tahoe.Enjoy the show!
Bori is joined by Justin and Manny to discuss the abysmal display of Milan during the Milan derby. They also discuss the past champions league results, comparing them to their predictions and also predict the upcoming champions league game. New format as it is more casual now. Enjoy!
Alexi and Mosse open the show assessing USWNT’s first two games in the She Believes Cup (7:00). The guys then discuss the signing of 15-year-old prodigy Alex Alcala to the Los Angeles Galaxy (19:30) and the Vancouver Whitecaps FC going the “Moneyball” route by hiring Nikos Overheul as Director of Recruitment. They look at Europe and talk about Jose Mourinho’s antics after another loss (36:26), Liverpool’s boat continues to sink, Milan Derby, and tight European title races except for the Premier League. In #AskAlexi (1:04:07), fans ask about deserved respect for USWNT, Bruce Arena or Bob Bradley, and Tomas Tuchel’s tough love. Finally, Alexi caps the show with his “One for the Road” on teams and players not living up to expectations during a tough 2020 (1:20:45) in another remote edition of the State of the Union Podcast. In a weekend of wild results, the continued madness of the Brasileirao reached new heights as Inter stunned Gremio to tighten their grasp on top spot. We discuss the controversial call that gave Inter the win and the continued implosion of title rivals Sau Paulo who were held by strugglers Coritiba. But first, we discuss all of the action from around Europe including Newcastle's cluelessness, Milan's inexperience, and Leipzig's questionable late game tactics. We also suggest that Liverpool will be okay, wonder whether Messi's absence may have exposed a new side of Frenkie de Jong's game, and praise the performance of Thomas Tuchel's former side--PSG--while wondering if the German was the right choice for Chelsea. At the end of the show, we discuss Young Dolph's Rich Slave (which I only now realize is actually just a deluxe re-release) and wonder whether too many of today's artists are neither clever nor creative when making music. Finally, we react to UFC 257 including stunning displays by Michael "Bootstraps" Chandler and Dustin Poirier. We also discuss Conor McGregor's future and call for rumors of his demise to be quieted until they have legit reason to exist.
