Four years ago the writer and broadcaster Naga Munchetty spoke out on air about her own awful experience of getting a coil fitted, and received a huge response from listeners. It led to her talking about her debilitating periods and an eventual diagnosis with adenomyosis aged 47. She's written about this and included the experiences of other women. Naga speaks to Anita Rani to discuss her book ‘It's probably nothing': Critical conversations on the women's health crisis. Robert Francis Prevost has been chosen as the new Pope and will be known as Leo XIV. He is the first American to fill the role of pope, although he is considered as much a cardinal from Latin America because of the many years he spent as a missionary in Peru. Anita is joined by Kate McElwee, the executive director of the Women's Ordination Conference, that calls for women's ordination and gender equity in the Roman Catholic Church and Ruth Gledhill Assistant Editor at The Tablet to discuss where he stands in the context women and the church.Planning a wedding can be stressful, but what if you begin to question your relationship as the big day approaches? How do you know if it's just nerves? And what if you realise that you're not happy, that your engagement needs to end, and that you have to cancel your wedding? Anita talks to beauty and lifestyle creator Katie Snooks who cancelled her wedding in 2017 and to couples therapist Joanna Harrison about managing the emotional and practical fall-out of cancelling your wedding.Laura Aikman discusses her role in new drama Suspect, which tells the story of Jean Charles de Menezes, who was shot by police at Stockwell tube station in 2005. He was mistaken for a terror suspect in the aftermath of London's 7/7 bombings. Laura plays Lana Vandenberghe in the Disney+ drama, a Canadian secretary at the Independent Police Complaints Commission who became a whistleblower, leaking documents to a TV news producer which showed a discrepancy between what the police knew and what was being reported at the time. Laura also recently starred in BBC crime drama This City is Ours and surprised Gavin and Stacey fans by returning as Smithy's fiancé for the recent Christmas finale, watched by more than 19 million people. In this 100th episode special of the Jay Pitts Show, we kick things off with bold predictions for this year's Kentucky Derby winner. Then we pivot to the Louisville housing market for an insightful update on inventory trends. Next, we dive into a Broke Agent Media article claiming that more Americans are delaying or cancelling major purchases due to the economic ripple effects of rising tariffs. We also explore a major shift in the real estate industry: what happens as a wave of older agents retires, and how it could impact the business of working realtors. Finally, we lighten things up (sort of) by answering the internet's viral debate: Could 100 men defeat a gorilla in a fight? Our answers might surprise you.
It was supposed to a fun afternoon arguing over the 2,000trees clashfinder but Sharon Osbourne, Scotland's First Minister and the pesky bloody Tories had other ideas…. so the spotlight is back on the Kneecap lads. But what about the promoters, like James, who have red hot Irish trio on their poster?Well, there's death threats for a start. We go again, every Thursday morning.

What really happens when you fall into a black hole? Physicist Neil Turok unveils a radical theory: there is no inside—only a mirror. You meet your antimatter twin, and annihilation follows. No multiverse. No extra dimensions. No information loss. Just elegant math and CPT symmetry. This is the simplest—and most profound—explanation of black holes to date. Nobody ever tells you that aging is mostly just getting weird things on your body that you may or may not have to worry about. And this is officially an old lady podcast. Sarah is obsessed with Love on the Spectrum and she explains why the people on the show are so adorable and why we wish neurotypical dating was this good. Susie thinks Sarah might be on the spectrum, so we're considering whether she fits the bill. We think we might want to cancel Einstein, which is a real bummer because he was one of our favorites. Turns out, Albert wasn't exactly as progressive as we hoped, but we're thinking he was just a product of his time. Everyone is psyched out of their minds about dire wolves "coming back from extinction" when a) they didn't and b) why would it even be exciting if they had? Susie thinks it's racist (lol) or because they were on Game of Thrones or because the company doing all this weird Jurassic Park shit just has really good PR. Sarah reveals an urban legend about a "carbahn" underneath Los Angeles that allows famous people to avoid traffic.Listen to more podcasts like this: https://wavepodcastnetwork.comRead this week's Newsletter: https://mailchi.mp/thebraincandypodcast/a-babysitters-nightmare-raising-pets-instead-of-kids-secret-starbucksJoin our Candy Club, shop our merch, sign-up for our free newsletter, & more by visiting The Brain Candy Podcast website: https://www.thebraincandypodcast.comConnect with us on social media:BCP Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/braincandypodcastSusie's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susiemeisterSarah's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imsarahriceBCP on X: https://www.x.com/braincandypodSponsors:Get 20% off your first order at https://thrivecausemetics.com/BRAINCANDYGet up to 35% off PLUS 2 free gifts using code BRAINCANDY at https://shopbeam.com/BRAINCANDYSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

On today's show, Matt, JD & Rachel discuss their failing sleep hygiene, bringing the siesta to North America, arguing with caterers, JD's going on a Montreal bender, are there too many colors of wine, a hoarder intervention, physical media has its limits, a hierarchy of streaming services, literally wearing a hat on a hat, a proposal to drop Biscoff cookies from flights, regrets about leaving The Starters, being a bad delegator, maybe man is an island, and an important programming note that is not a surprise but sounds like one to some on the pod.
On this week on WYHA, Anna and Matt are reunited in Melbourne to tackle the Fork, Spoon & Knife personality test (let us know which description you relate to most!) and also read out your submissions for the pettiest reasons you've cancelled a date (you'll be surprised how many we actually found petty). At the end of each week, Mike Hosking takes you through the big-ticket items and lets you know what he makes of it all. Andrew Bayly: 3/10 It's a sad business. Was it a sackable offence? No. Does it put people off entering politics? I would have thought so. But when you call someone a loser and grab an arm, can you survive? It was the re-offence that was sackable. Law and order: 8/10 The violent crime stats and new detainment powers are tangible evidence of progress in the right direction. Marsden and the rebuild: 2/10 That's what is wrong with coalitions. They indulge folly. Temu: 3/10 We are spending more there and less domestically. Never underestimate the power of cheap crap. Tory Whanau: 1/10 Cancelling her Newstalk ZB slot is the beginning of the end. Cancelling Newstalk ZB slots doesn't tend to go well for voting patterns – I speak from experience. The Warriors: 7/10 Unbeaten in the offseason and some fairly ordinary, blow-up bat-wielding Raiders to tackle first up. In this groundbreaking conversation, we'll talk about: The 5-C continuum of Calling In, Calling Out, Calling On, Cancelling, and Calling it Off How to do better "threat assesments" Loretta's pivotal moment and first "calling in" experience with people who seemed the most unlikely to want to change How to turn potential conflict into conversation and more!! **CW: this conversation contains mention of rape **Want to read along?
